Hey! I would like to join this challenge if ya don't mind!! I started December 3rd and I wanted to lose 100 lbs by one year but November will work!! I don't know if it's possible but I'm going to try my hardest. I need something to hold me accountable at sticking with it. Right now I'm in the April Fools Hottie Challenge also and I think it helps a lot to be able to type out what's going on and receive advice and have goal to work forward to!

ev1!!!! glad to have you aboard. post often, whether it's up or down -- you never know when someone else is facing the same issues you are.Had a good weekend here - staying on plan and kickin butt! LOL Yesterday's menu: B: none - slept in late!!!! L: fish, green beans, sausage links D: hummus, kibbe, falafel (ate lebanese w/ my sister and her guest) Today's menu: B: none - slept in late!!!! L: salad D: eggs and ham this afternoon we went to the gym, and I logged another 1.32 miles, and then did 26 laps in the pool. I still haven't figured out how much that equates to, so for now I'm just counting and keeping track of how many laps I walk/swim/jog. my upper body is S.O.R.E. !!!! after the gym we headed to H.E.B. and got lots of good LC lunch and snack supplies for the week. I'm hoping to post my first loss in 3 weeks...if I do it - I will be ecstatic!!!! have a wonderful, on-plan day!!! and ![]()

Ok, So I posted this in my April Fools Hottie Challenge thread, but I'd like to post it here too.
Hello! Hope everyone had a good weekend! Ok, So for the past week my friends have been on me about this WOE. One of my friends just started Atkins and she told her brother about it. He told her how dangerous it is and how we are going to get ?acidketosis? and we are tricking our bodies into thinking we are diabetic and we will develop diabetes. I really didn't listen to it because I know what I'm going to do. She is switching to a low fat diet, which is her choice. Of course she doesn't have much weight if any at all to lose.(She's only losing for vacation on the beach at the end of April, not for the long term.) The only thing that has been bothering me is now all of my friends everytime I'm with them they have to ask if I've quit this diet or they will make comments like "Let's go eat at Subway where we can eat something HEALTHY." and really stress it and look at me. Other times they are eating Mcdonalds and Dairy Queen and I don't say a word about it, I'm sure that's really healthy too. I guess they are just concerned about me but it seems like everytime anything at all seems to go right for me they are there to make me feel guilty or bad about it or that I could do better. It just seems that I can't do anything right! Sorry AGAIN for the long post. Seems like I'm always the one who is complaining about something. Maybe I need to start a journal on here and start writing in it instead of on here. It's hard for me to talk about things in real life, so I guess I'm getting more comfortable to let it all out on here. Even with my weight, I wouldn't dare tell someone in real life what I weigh, weighed or what I want to lose.

Thanks for starting the new thread!
So, another weekend... and another day off plan! DH and I went to an all day meeting/retreat yesterday for our church leadership team and we ended up eating off plan... then continuing the splurge at my brother's birthday party. It wasn't planned... but we're back on plan today and I don't feel too bad about it (especially since the cake that my sister-in-law made is my FAVORITE EVER and was truly worth every carb!). What I am disappointed about is that I'd finally broken through my stall... but, I'm still down as of now... and I plan to keep on keepin' on, and that's the most important thing! Today's Menu: Brunch- fried eggs, bacon (5) Dinner- hamburger patties, broccoli/cauliflower mix (8) TOTAL = 13 carbs / 3 liters of water

Stacie~ WELCOME! I'm glad you're joining our challenge!
![]() A lot of my family and friends are against this woe also... but that's really just because they're misinformed (mostly by the negative media that Atkins gets). Try reassuring them that you ARE eating some carbs (some people think we don't eat any, which isn't healthy) and that you can't get ketoacidosis... that's something people who already have diabetes can get, but not because of Atkins. Also, just so you know, one of my brothers and my mom both lost a substantial amount of weight on Atkins and both were taken OFF of diabetes medications! Their doctors agreed that this is THE BEST diet for people who already have diabetes and for those at risk! STICK WITH IT!!! YOU CAN DO THIS!!! Last edited by behind_the_mask; 03-10-2008 at 02:00 AM.. |

![]() ![]() ![]() I indulged a little over the weekend, but am back on plan 100% today. Stacie - What Heather said about ketoacidosis is correct. It's totally different from ketosis, which is not harmful to a healthy person. All ketosis means is that you're burning fat as your primary energy source. How is that bad? When your friends give you grief about your lack of carbs, tell them you eat lots of healthy carbs in the form of veggies & fruit (if you're eating fruit yet). I'll bet you eat more veggies than they do. If anyone wants to debate the health aspects of Atkins, tell them you'll be glad to after they read the book or educate themselves on-line. Like bav said, most people have no idea that it isn't the steak, bacon & butter diet.

Down 2 more for a total of 34 lbs since Jan. 3. Definitely had the whoosh fairy the last few days..... since Saturday morning, have lost 5.5 lbs. So motivating! We head to the beach Friday and all my shorts are too big---- I love it. -- gonna try to find a couple pair at a consignment or thrift store..... do not want to really invest much right now in shorts. Actually have a bathing suit tucked away, and if I get in the pool, will have shorts on the bottom too. I am loving this woe. Went through several weeks after induction, that were very tough, but the last couple of weeks have been big losses again. Guess I will enjoy them and know to just keep on keeping the faith the next time the weight loss stalls. Here's sending the whoosh fairy to all of you too!!!

I went straight home from work yesterday fighting a migraine. It's better this morning, but still *right there*. don't have too much planned for today: tuna & SF jello for lunch, and bible study tonight which means I'll have a salad. I'm looking forward to posting a loss tomorrow, and I'm hoping I'll meet 3 goals in one - wouldn't that be cool?! |

Moved this to March thread
I haven't been posting much, but I am on plan. I finally hit my 25 lbs mark which is 1/4 of this challenge. I feel I am a bit behind to be on target for the 100 lbs, and I have changed my March goal to be at the 33 lb mark. I am changing my menu a bit and starting to walk. I have 20 days to lose 8 more lbs and I will do this. I will then be 1/3 way there.
Thank you all for your kind post regarding me recent loss of my mother. Heather, you know what this is like, and there is nothing worse than trying to clean out your mom's house with memories written all over the place. Talk about busy. Tuesday menu: B: 2 scrambled eggs, 2 sausage links S: stalk of celery w/cream cheese L: large parmesan chicken breast S: stalk of celery w/cream cheese D: large chef salad Total Carbs: 15 with cream for my coffee 64 oz water, lots of coffee because I am tired today. |

Hello everyone!! Just checking in!
It went REALLY well last night meeting the girls. They are a very fun, loud, outgoing group... a lot like how my friends and I were at their age! I'll be back again next Monday night and they all seem really excited about that! Yay! I've worked with kids since I was one... helping my mom in the church nursery, teaching Children's Church and Sunday School, babysitting, as a youth group leader, working with street kids in Central America, working at a homeless shelter with 18-21 year old women, as a guest teacher for a year, and now as a full-time nanny! I truly love kids of all ages! They keep me on my toes! Today's Menu: B- CO bark, pepperoni slices (2) L- 2 beef franks, hb eggs (3) S- coffee w/cream and splenda (3) D- cobb salad (6) TOTAL = 14 carbs / 3 liters of water (heading to gym to walk a few miles!) Oh! And this morning I was back in moderate ketosis! Woo-hoo! Now to start shedding the pounds again!!! |

SunshineLady~ My brothers and I have sorted through some of my mom's things, which we did right after she passed. But now I think we're all kind of stalling. I know that we'll have to get her house ready to sell here pretty soon... but it just seems so overwhelming! My thoughts are with your family. I know what you're going through.

I am in amazement and a little puzzled, but mostly excited. Weighed today (several times) -- cause I could not believe what I saw. 268 lbs!! I have not been in the 260's in quite some time. The most astonishing part is that I have lost 9.5 lbs in less than a week. That did not even happen during Induction. What's up with that? Hey, not complaining -- just wondering. Love it, love it, love it!! Down 38 lbs since January 3rd. Doing the happy dance today!!
SunshineLady, so sorry about your Mom. ![]() Glad things went well behind_the_mask! Thanks to all for the support! |

fancyface- WOW! 9.5 lbs in less than a week?? CONGRATS!!!
Thanks for the advice everyone. I am going to keep on doing what makes me feel good and healthy. I'm sure they will get over it. I honestly think part of it is that my friends don't like the new attention I am getting(I don't necessarily like it either, although, it is encouraging!) so they are looking for ways to get me to stop. I know, Sad, but true. Everything is going good here. My weight is stopped a little because of TOM. Hopefully in a few days I'll see a loss! I'd like to lose 2 more lbs to officially hit 40 lbs lost! |

Thanks Heather, Jennifer, Stacie, and Elizabeth! Really a good feeling today to feel like I am making headway in getting healthier.
Heading to the beach this weekend and have planned my snacks. Looking forward to some fresh broiled/grilled seafood too. Stacie those two lbs are coming. Onderland is not far away either... I am so looking forward to getting there some day too. Wow!! That will be so awesome! This is really so supportive and I miss coming to read when I get busy.
