These aren't too bad. Just a little rubbery, but not bad at all for a snack.

Hi everyone! I'm new to LCF. I came upon this site when in one of my moments, I googled 100 pound weight losses and found my way here. I was very surprised and happy to find such a strong and encouraging community. I'd like to commit to doing this challenge with all of you, too.

Yeah, it's me again. Hey! I've been off for 6 weeks from work. I gotta do something, right? (Don't worry, I go back to work tomorrow night - midnight shift)

Anywho . . . tried this recipe and give it two thumbs up! Perfect for when you're craving pizza! It's so simple, quick, easy . . . no muss, no fuss. If you're about to cave, try this instead.

You could add a little PB to the chocolate bark, and make a quasi-Reeses for yourself.
Wow, can't wait to be off induction to try some of these....might be a while till I can get to the extra carb time, but still want induction to be over! LOL Day 2, going pretty good so far! Had 1 scrambled egg, 5 sausage links and 1 sf jello! Should be good to go till lunch. Made a chef salad for lunch with a side of steamed cauliflower. Plus I have a few sausage links that didnt get eaten, so probably will scarf them down at lunch too!

Thumbs up

hello to all the newcomers!!!!! stay around, post often, and we'll encourage you as much as you let us!

today was my weigh-in day - I'm down 0.6 pounds this week, for a total of 11.4 so far. YEA! that is 2 pounds more than I weighed on Dec 31st...which bums me out a little, but it's still a loss and not a gain.

I found out that the burger I had on NYE was a chorizo burger, and I can only imagine the salt, and possibly fillers in it. I could have waited until tomorrow for my weekly weigh-in, when all of that is out of my system and would have been back down those 2 lbs, plus some, but - why? today is what today is...and I'm in this for the long haul.

DH and I really enjoyed Biggest Loser - Couples last night.
*spoiler-free for anyone who hasn't seen it yet*

I'm glad the one member of the team that was eliminated seemed to keep to their weight loss goals. that's really encouraging!!!

tomorrow night is my first big challenge...one of my friends has having her birthday party at a happy hour. I'm going the "designated driver" route and sticking to water with a twist, and I know there will be some questions. that's OK - I'll be ready for them!

hope you all have a wonderful, on-plan day!!!

Hello folks, I'd like to get in on this challenge!

My motivation: last year 4 of us (me, my brother, a sister-in-law, and my best friend) went on a seventy five pound challenge.

I led the way the first half of the year, but got sidetracked the second half, and even though I led the charge I was the only one who didn't hit the goal...so now I am the only remaining obese one in my group.

That will change in 2008!

3 pounds down so far this year...all water weight, but heck I'll take it! 97 to go!

Hello, everyone! Wow, I KNEW I was going to like this group!

First of all, welcome to Jennifer (momwith2boys), Bea, Beth, and WolfmanJacque (love the screen name). It looks like the support and encouragement here is going to be great. Glad you could join us.

Elizabeth, congrats on your 11.4 down!

Sandy, Sarah, Jennifer, Dusk, and Joyce--thank you for your great comments and suggestions. As I was reading, I was trying to remember what I wanted to say in reply. I'll probably end up forgetting some, but for now...

Yes, Sarah, I've made the coconut bark before. It's "ok", but I can always taste that slight aftertaste from the Splenda, which hasn't made it a real go-to treat for me.

I think I will try to keep Cream Cheese Muffins on hand for a treat instead. I ordered some DaVinci's before Christmas, and will use those to flavor the muffins. They aren't quite like a Reese's Cup, ha ha, but they are surprisingly delicious.

Joyce, I did notice the similarity in our starting weights, and was amazed at the progress you've made already. You're doing so well. Yes, I did finish the bag of mini Reese's last night, so there aren't any in my desk drawer calling my name today, lol. (Of course, my dh still has a few left in his bag--yes, we have his and hers bags of candy around here!--but I'll leave them alone.)

Jennifer, I believe in those things you listed about Intuitive Eating. That's why I keep going back to it. One big thing I've learned is what you were saying about the "satisfaction factor". I find that if I take the time to actually prepare something decent and delicious, I don't have to eat as much to feel like I ate, if that makes sense. I'm going to have to learn how to do this with low carb foods. I'm great at baking desserts; now I just have to translate that to cooking regular meals.

Dusk, I was nodding my head in agreement with you all the way down your post! You really hit the nail on the head in everything that you said. You are so right about how the pleasure of the high-sugar treat outweighed the pain of being overweight. Exactly. That's what trips me up every time.

Thank you for the gentle slap upside the head reminder about how hard it is to function in daily life because of our weight. I avoid sitting on our couch too for the same reason-it's just too hard to get up off it. I hear you on the other things too, the gasping when tying shoes, the difficulty of shaving my legs in the shower, heaving and flopping myself over in bed because I can't just roll over...

Though I very much agree with the Intuitive Eating/non-diet principles, I agree with you about how easy it is to GAIN weight with that method, simply because when, left to my own devices, I'll choose carbs every time. When I was younger, I was naturally thin, and my body processed carbs without a problem. Now all I have to do is THINK about a carb and I gain a ton of weight. That's why I'm going to follow low carb/healthy eating and see how I do.

Ok, now I've forgotten the rest of what I wanted to say in this post, but since it's getting so long anyway, I'll close this one for now.

Thank you all again for the helpful suggestions and wonderful encouragement.

Now off to have some low carb lunch--and no Reese's Cups!

Dusk, thanks for posting the link to this recipe. It looks like it would really hit the spot for pizza cravings. I'm going to add mozzarella to my shopping list so I can try this.

Hello to all our Newbies! Welcome!

Ya know, everything I have made to kind of substitute for my sugar cravings....just really didnt do it for me. Am I the only one who finds Splenda even to have a weird taste? I like it in the diet soda's or RedDiamond Tea, but everything I try to put it in just kinda tastes weird to me. I made the Mock Danish last night, and It was actually good, except for the bitter taste of the splenda. Any one have any suggestions that works for you?

I got Divinci's SF Vanilla, Caramel, and Kahlua....I need to find more to do with them besides coffee.

Sandy, I have that same problem with Splenda. There is always just a bit of an aftertaste to me, even if I'm doing something as simple as using half a packet in my coffee.

I haven't tried the Mock Danish yet.

Have you tried the Cream Cheese Muffins? The recipe calls for Splenda, but I left out the Splenda and used just DaVinici's instead, and I found that they were plenty sweet for me. The DaVinici's that I've tried so far hasn't had quite as much of an aftertaste as the packets of Splenda do.

Here is the link to a 16-page thread about Cream Cheese Muffins, just in case somebody is interested in trying them.

Edited to add: Another thing I've done with the DaVinci's is I take a little blob of cream cheese, soften it in the microwave, add a squirt of SF spray whipped cream, then a splash (to taste) of whatever DaVinici flavor you'd like. Stir it around, then eat. Yum.

So far I've only done this with the Banana DaVinici's, and the Toasted Marshmallow, and I've liked them both. I also have Raspberry and Caramel to try, but I've been using more of the Raspberry in Cream Cheese Muffins, plus my husband likes a splash of it on a dish of frozen raspberries for dessert.

Hi Jacque.

Nice to see you made it over to the thread, Teresa! Now where is Miss Missy?

Sorry Sandy, I haven't used anything but splenda since it came out.

Becky, I hope I wasn't too hard on you. Seems TOM came for an early visit and my mind doesn't appear to be working very well.

Next time I go to the store I will buy some granular sugar so I can try those Cream Cheese Muffins...Seems like a hit, so I gotta try them!

Also, I started to make the WhiteCastle Hamburger Pie but realized that I have no onion soup mix or no onion powder or diced onions....so they are on the list too. I showed my pickiest daughter a picture of it WC pie and she even thought it looked yummy....Pretty sure I can get the whole family to try it.

That is why I seem to eat snack meals, cause the rest of my family eats a different meal, and I dont want to make 2 of them. Its easy when it is just burgers or stuff like that....I just dont eat the bun. Recipes like this will make it alot easier!
