Well it is 12:33p.m. and the first day of my new way of eating. For breakfast I had 3 eggs and 3 slices of turkey bacon, and a diet Mt. Dew. I am getting ready to start cleaning on my house, and try and get it caught back up. I have a secret weapon that I am going to use for times that I get hungry and it is not time to eat. When I have a hunger hit me I am going to sit down and work on my quilt. That way my hands are staying busy and my mind is on something else besides food. I will let you know if it works LOL.

I will join you Annie. As long as you don't mind that i won't be posting updates weight wise except for once a month. I decided i REFUSE to weigh or measure right now except for once a month. for this reason i haven't joined any challenges because they usually have weekly weigh ins...i was actually thinking about starting a 1xmonthly weigh in only challenge...but i don't know how many people could stick to that.
I have about 100 pounds to lose now and I will give myself a year to do it...(secretly wishing it would take 6 months...but that's why I keep falling off to begin with!) So today i have had B: coffee with heavy cream and Chocolate Torani syrup 2 eggs cooked in 2 tablespoons of butta! 1/2 sausage patty L: Carls Jr Low Carb burger...no ketchup (can you beleive they put ketchup on something they call low carb???) 2 slices of bacon guacamole d: haven't decided but i think maybe a big pork chop and some veggie w/ butter ***will take 1 tablespoon coconut oil before bed.

Good Morning Ladies.
Welcome Crimsey! Well I'm on day 9! yay! I started a journal last night on here...even though I've been keeping a real written one at home...but it's getting to the point where i just keep saying the same thing over and over...had a good day...feel pretty good...didn't cheat...NEXT!!! ha ha...so maybe i'll give it up though I would like to keep it and add pic's along the way etc. I spoke to soon about the headaches...i woke up with a doozie. I suffer from migraines. this one isn't bad enough to stay in bed--which i can't cause i'm the only person who DOESN'T have today off in my department--but it's bad enough to feel sorry for myself. I haven't eaten yet this morning and to be honest I have a hard time eating breakfast...i just really can't find any low carb food that "sounds" good to me other than coffee with cream and torani syrup. sometimes i force down a couple of eggs or eat some leftover casserole or something...but geez...I wish i could eat all the nuts i wanted because that's all that sounds good. Well I hope you all have a lovely stress free day...and if you're off today (and sleeping in right now ) then i'll try NOT to hold it against you... |

Annie, Melissa and Crimsey: You can definitely do it! Since May of this year, I've lost 98 lbs. via low-carbing (I have 58 more lbs. to go!). Over the past few months, I've learned to cycle my fats and proteins to keep the losses going. Using Fitday (or the purchased, downloaded product, FitdayPC, which is much easier than the free version) or The Daily Plate is one of the major things to which I attribute my success.
P.S. Annie, you and I share the same faith; dh and I are parents to six children...and we all love that most beautiful prayer in your siggy!

Happy Cyber Monday, ladies. I hope cyber-shopping burns calories, *lol*, because we ate like they were going to stop making food this holiday. *sigh*
![]() However, Thanksgiving was the end of my "food event" challenges for the year. My family is small and we don't do the big gathering/cooking events of the past when we had a lot of extended family close by. So - Making Good Choices is what I'm about for the next 30 days, with some low-carb recipes for those few meals when we want a bit of a treat. Divine Miss M - yep, I've been using (web) FitDay for years, and I agree - logging with it regularly keeps me on track.Cheers to you all till later.

Morning Ladies...
Well i'm proud to report i haven't cheated or slipped ONCE. Today marks 2 whole weeks of clean eating and i am very excited. Regardless of whether everyone ate on or off plan this last week...if you come back here now you are a winner! they don't call it a challenge for nuthin! I'm still staying off the scale so I don't have a clue how much i have lost, but when I was feeling kind of weak and sorry for myself on Saturday and we were getting ready to go to a movie I knew I needed some inspiration to NOT eat the popcorn...so I took my measurements. I have lost 3 inches from my waist and 3 inches from my hips! isn't that amazing? also 1 1/2 from chest so 7 1/2 inches in 12 days! Needless to say...i didn't eat 1 kernel of popcorn. ![]() My biggest challenge so far has been BREAKFAST. I'm doing this plan a little differently than before in that i'm trying to eat at least 70% of my calories from fat...about 25% protein and 5% or less Carbs. i'm usually under 20 and plan to keep it that way. i've been amazingly not hungry and very few cravings. but i gag in the mornings when i think about eating eggs and meat. some days i force it...some days i skip it and have coffee only. Friday I discovered the Jodys' Pumpkin Bake (sorry i'm have no idea how to link the recipe) i made 12 muffins out of it. it tastes almost exactly like pumpkin cheesecake! Glory Be! they have 3 net carbs each. and i put a dollop of cool whip...which i should do without...but it's only 1 carb...i think this is my new breakfast! i just hope they don't stall me...i've been eating mostly only meat...high fat...and a little veggie...and it's working so well. Well, hope everyone else checks in today...here's to a new week and hopefully a clean one! |

I had been walking everyday, but it has turned cold and rainy, so I really need to get a gym membership, tomorrow. ![]() I've lost 27# since I started 8/30. I am at 240 so at least 100# to GO! |

WHERE IS OUR THREAD STARTER ANNIE?
i've searched and I haven't seen any posts from Annie since 11/20. i hope she didn't get hijacked by a psychotic turkey!
Well...the challenge should go on... We all have about 100 pounds to lose, and everyone is different...so i would suggest in this challenge that we each state the rules that we are establishing for ourselves either weekly or monthly and report on the 15th of each month what we have accomplished. It doesn't have to be pounds (unless you want). it can be eating clean x days...it can be xdays of exercise a week. it can be keeping carbs under x per day. it can be inches lost (MINE!!!!) I refuse to weigh myself daily at this point. i've done this enough to know it works IF YOU KNOW THE RULES... So if you want to join me in weighing only once per month...please be sure you have READ the book of the plan you are choosing. otherwise if you are making critical mistakes you won't be able to see it very quickly. So...here's mine...Crimsey, Heidi, Divine, and Gitana...post em up!!! 1) I will only weigh ONCE per month on the 15th...no matter how strong the scale addiction is. i've done this successfully for 2 full weeks now! ![]() this is a major first for me. btw. 2) I will measure every 2 weeks and post losses here on chest/waist/hips. as of this weekend i have lost 1 1/2 on chest, 3 on waist and 3 on hips... all in 2 weeks! 3) I will weight train twice weekly. 4) I will eat a diet comprising 70% fat, and less than 20 carbs per day. (everyone uses Fitday...but I suggest Calorieking.com. it's 7.00 per month, but has TONS AND TONS of restaurants and name brand foods from the grocery shelves...fitday does not. it's soooo worth 7.00 to save me from creating custom foods for everything i eat!) Well, those are the goals I started out with 2 weeks ago and they are working for me right now. My ultimate goal is to lose of course 100 pounds by next November. But really my emphasis is on how I look and feel...i am not going to be ruled by that stinking metal box they call a "scale". my success cannot always be measured by numbers |

Sorry about that, he is gorgeous isn't he?! It's David Beckham, a famous footballer. He's English but has recently signed to LA Galaxy.
Anyway! Okay here are my rules for this challenge: 1) I will weigh in once a week, every Wednesday. 2) I will go to the gym at LEAST 3 times a week & do my home exercise DVD at LEAST once a week. 3) I will continue to work my way up the OWL ladder until I know what my CCLL is. 4) I will drink at LEAST 2 litres of water a day. 5) I will NOT drink alcohol more than twice a month. All in all, I have just under 84 lbs left to lose (I'm sure it's less but I'm yet to way myself today). I really think that a year is more than generous timing for this so I am willing to give it my all. I am on day 22 since starting. Hope everyone else has been getting on okay!

Good Morning all.
I hope everyone has a good day today and has encouraging uplifting things to report! I'm crabby today and i have no idea why...i've been sampling low carb "treats" instead of sticking to my fatty meat and veggies and that may be why. i feel guilty even though i'm still @ or below 20 net carbs per day. Oh well something to ponder. I made it to the gym last night. it's a womans only gym and i was sitting there thinking, "i'm so glad i paid the extra money for DD and I to go here" cause there's no meathead men staring at their biceps in the mirror and there's an amazing cross section of women...then I overhear the owner say they are closing in January...merging with a "chain" that I won't mention. I drove by after i finished to check it out...nothing but 20-25 year old BOYS flexing their egos all over the place. YUCK. I think that and not enough sleep is part of my irritated mood today. I don't even feel like eating or drinking anything...nothing sounds good. i suppose i should consider this a blessing...the cravings are pretty much gone... |

Biggest loser?
Does anyone else watch this show? On one hand it irritates me to no end when they get on the scale and say they have a "bad" week becuase they ONLY lose 6 pounds! I hate that because nobody ever says anything about why these things happen or that it might be good because they are building so much muscle! they allow it to appear like those people failed that week...that really gets my goat... But on the other hand, i'm right there crying my eyes out with these people because they are accomplishing so much! Last night one contestant who weighed over 400 pounds passed the 300's and got down to 298! in 12 weeks! Unbelievable...I was crying sooooo much because I know how i felt to get into the 2's...and it didn't take me all that long...but getting into Onderland has been a loooong 5 year struggle...and when I get there...I hope in a few months...you are going to feel the earth move from me jumping up and down! Catching up post#2 from Crimsey
Quote:
1. I will weigh in twice a week, Wednesdays and Saturdays. (I need the 2x to keep me on track. Otherwise, I get up Monday and start the oh-I-was-OP-this-weekend panic. As to being scale obsessed: I finally moved my scale into my office on the other side of the house from the master bedroom/bath. Now I'm no longer weighing 1-2x daily. It really has helped me keep focus on more than just that one number.) 2. I will take (and record) my supplements. 3. I will exercise 6 days each week - sometimes the exercycle, sometimes the free weights, sometimes just go walk or jog, but SOMETHING. 4. I will drink at least 60 oz of water daily, and work for more. 5. I will keep my food log daily (either manually or via FitDay) and work for 60-70% fat and 80-100g protein daily. (I use CalorieKing too, Melissa - I've been using FitDay for so long, I have almost every kind of food I regularly eat into FitDay already, . Kind of shocking to look at the full custom foods list some days and think, oooo, was I eating that? But at least I was logging it. As for food journals - I NEED them. They're like nail files/emery boards - I have those stashed everywhere so I never have an excuse to give in and chew on a snagged nail. Journals are the same - if I'm not online, I keep my paper journal at hand.)6. I will GET ENOUGH SLEEP!! 6 hours is barely acceptable; I am working to get up to 8 every night, or at least Sun-Th. That's the bare bones for me. |

I'm a Biggest Loser fan too.
Quote:
Yes, I'm a huge fan. I started watching the reruns on cable, and got hooked. It was interesting to me that they started this year with a "did they keep it off?" program. Some of the past (season 1, 2) people put most of their weight back on, so I guess the producers were feeling the pressure/scrutiny to show that they really are teaching these folks some habits for long-term loss/maintenance, not just running them through "fat camp", getting big losses and then having rebound later. The product placement is pretty lame - they should totally rework that. Just showing us the Jenny-O turkey packages would be ok; they don't need Bob Harper having to say the words every single episode (or Jell-O, or the gum, or whatever). My favorite part is actually the last bit where they show you how the person voted off is doing today - some of those folks are AMAZING. |

YES!!! My favorite part too!
I actually suffer thru most of it just to see the weigh ins and the "today" shots. I even hate how they have to vote someone off. Anyone who knows anything about losing weight knows that some weeks you lose alot of inches and no weight at all..sometimes for weeks at a time. so it's sad that this is never talked about.
what irks me is what all the skinny people are thinking about people who lose weight...i mean if they think it just takes hard work and a little will power and you can lose 12 pounds a week...then what is wrong with you ...you fatty???? i can just hear them talking in their heads...oh well...even though it irritates me i'm a sucker for success stories and these people are doing everything to lose...so i have to root for them regardless of whether i think the show organizers are DIMWITS![]() my day ended up better off than it started.... ![]() i've been successfull at my daily goals...just about 68% fat...a little short, but i'll down a TB of coconut oil and bring it up where it needs to be ... |

If so, here's mine: 8 oz decaf coffee w/sweetener 2 eggs, boiled 1 small tin tuna 1 tbsp mayo 1 tbsp savory relish 2 sheets nori *rolled my tuna salad in them* 2 portobello mushrooms (dressed with 1 tbsp tomato sauce, mozerella cheese and pepperoni) If I need a snack, I just bought some low carb protein powder to make my ppowder pancakes ![]() So, how have you been doing so far, Annie???? POSTING MENU'S
Hi Melle
![]() If you want to have posting your menu's daily as your accountability rules, then by all means...GO FOR IT. What you need to do is post the rules that you have set up for yourself to accomplish your goals by next November 1, 2008. We are all different, with different weights to lose, and we respect everyone's individual right to decide the best way to lose it..some may exercise, others may drink tons of water, some may eat 0 carbs...some 20...some 50. Just post your rules so you have something to refer back to...and check in and chat as often as you need support! Take care and best wishes!!! |

Hi y'all...I'd like to join too.
I typed a 6-paragraph volume this afternoon while I was at work - but it never posted. *sigh* Anyway, I'm tired of starting in on a challenge and then letting life get in the way and gaining back everything I've lost. I've started going to a new doctor, and she's really amazing, but she said I need to lose 50# in the next 3 months, or she wants to talk about surgical alternatives. I *know* I can do this, but I'm obviously need help because I can't stay committed on my own. Have NO IDEA what my goals are going to be at this point. I'll think about that over the weekend. My current weight is 411....so I guess my first goal would be 399. Thanks for starting this, I will post as often as I can! *hugs*

Hi everyone!
![]() I'd like to join. I started this November 2007 at 332.6. As of today, I'm down to between 325-326.6, depending on the day. I'd like to set some mini-goals, too, as I've been notoriously SLACKING in that department, as evidenced by my less than astounding weigh loss thus far. So my first goal will be to get to 299--Twoterville again! ![]() I look forward to catching up on the thread---I've got some end-of-quarter schoolwork to catch up on. Oh, I like watching BL too. This is the first season I've watched. I call it a fascination with repulsion---on the one hand, it's fascinating and motivating to watch these large people like me go after weight loss so aggressively. On the other hand, the shameless marketing and don't get me started on the gratuitous rolls of flab that must be showcased when they worked out! :lesigh: One more thing, Elizabeth--if you don't make the 50 lbs in 3 months marker, don't let your doc be aggressive about surgical intervention. That should be your own carefully weighed decision. ![]()
