**losing 100 in 2007 Week of 09/24-9/30**

Hello everyone!!

Congrats to all of those that lost weight Saturday It didn't happen overnight - we will make it and support each other!!

I lost 5 last week. That made me so happy! Someone please open the door to the 280's for me cause that's what I'm shooting for next Saturday - to be in the high 280's!

My back is still giving me problems here and there so I didn't walk yesterday or this morning. I'm taking my back medicine and trying to take it a little easy. I was able to get in 2 miles on Saturday - barely!

Everyone take care! I will check in a little later.

PS
Divine - the date on the challenge is 11/10/07.

Hi ladies: I'm down another .8 of a lb today. This is so exciting. Hopefully I've discovered what its going to take to get the rest of the weight off. I'm so close to having lost 80 lbs total. Never thought in a million years that could be done. I can't wait to join Jennifer in the 100 lb club.

Divine: Thanks for the great tips. Here's my tally for yesterday's food consumption.
Calories: 1284
Fat: 79
Protein: 73
Carbs: 75

I'm in the right range for calories and protein, but little over on the fat intake. Note this varies from day to day. I found another site that computes my daily needs to eat healthy and yet still lose weight, all this for me based on my height, weight, etc. I would have been lower on the fats, but I decided to have sausage patties for dinner last night and cashews for snack. Those put me over. The carbs seem high, but I got most of them from smart carbs, veggies, oatmeal and strawberries. Three very low fat items. The site computes I should eat 135 or more carbs a day. NEVER!

You are doing great. Phew 72 lbs. You are going to pass my total up any day now. But that's okay, I'm really happy for you. I'm just going to keep plugging along.

Bug: You are doing sensational. 5 lbs in one week. Phew. You've done good to get in the exercise that you did with a sore back. I know from experience that can be difficult. I hope it starts feeling better.

Lisa, 3 more lbs!. Yay for you. I hope your legs feel better. And, your willpower remains strong while making all those goodies!

Tiffani: You are still doing great. Yay. You are well on your way to your 30 lb goal.

Jennifer: Thanks for the congrats. I hope the losses continue. I hope I don't hit the brick wall again for a while. When I grow up I want to be just like you!

Kbetz: Sheesh, you are a walking machine. You probably will catch up to me soon. I sure wish we could go walking together sometime.

Penny: I hope you had a good weekend.

Have a great day everyone.

Hey, girls, today I'm up by .6 of a lb, but that's definitely due to both exercise and my unexpected free meal last night. All in all, I'm pleased that I didn't gain more. Hopefully, it will move down again tomorrow (just in time for another bout of exercise!)

Bug: Thank you for giving me the date! And 5 lbs. in a week - that's amazing! Great, great, great! KUTG!

Dream: I have to keep reminding myself that you're in a study, right? I've been reading and re-reading PP...what you're doing now sounds awfully similar to it. I know they don't give a particular fat gram limit; that's something we have to work out for ourselves. But here's something really interesting: their level for ongoing wt. loss is 30 NET carbs, no more than 40. I keep playing with my fat grams; so far 50 is about optimum for ongoing wt. loss. Still have to keep the carbs at 30 or under.

Btw, I read something in the PP book about daily exercisers like yourself...if you would like, I'll find it again and type it out here for you. That way you can think about their recommendations and decide for yourself.

Lisa: You losing machine. That's 9 lbs in three days. Whoaaa! Fantastic.

Divine: Yes, of course I am interested. Either send it here or PM it. Thanks. You are so awesome. In the study I'm in, I'm really, by this time, supposed to be over 100 carbs a day. Throughout this mega stall, I've bounced anywhere from 25 to 50-60ish with an occasional day over that. Just like the day I had DQ, of course it was well over 100.

Hi Lisa: No, you aren't nosey. The study I'm in is conducted through a local HMO and the University hospital here. It's federally funded, so totally free for me, except my time. Its a study comparing the dash diet (which is low calorie) to low carbing. Who loses faster and who gains it back faster. In addition they study long term effects such as bone density, blood pressure, cholesterol, etc. We are closely monitored through blood work and bone scans so if eating the LC way effects us adversely, they can remedy the problem before it starts. So far, no adverse effects in fact, just the opposite. Its a long term study lasting 3 years. The reason it has worked for me is because I needed someone to hold a brick over my head. I knew once I signed the contract, I had to stick to the plan. We have group meetings where we discuss nutrition, etc. Do we cheat once in a while? Of course, nobody is perfect, and they incorporate that into the study too. I was the fattest person in my group. Most are already on maintenance. I have passed a couple of participants though and now weigh less than they do. I'm seriously committed, stalls included, to get my weight down to a healthy level no matter how long it takes so I consider myself very fortunate to have stumbled upon this study.

Lisa - WOW - all of that wonderful tasty food! I think I would be in pig heaven - the scales wouldn't - but I would!

Ya'll keep me in your I'm going through a few things on the home front right now and the stress is playing havoc with my sugar and arthritis. I just don't know how much more I can take. I have an appointment tomorrow morning with an attorney to cover some of my rights and maybe after that I will feel better.

There are some things that I feel grateful for this morning. I thought about them late last night when I couldn't sleep and I thought I would share.

1st. I'm grateful that now after 37 pounds total lost, it makes shaving so much easier on my legs.

2nd. I'm grateful that now I have to unzip my pants to get to my lower belly to give myself a shot. Before I could just pull my pants a little lower because I had so much muffin going on.

3rd. I'm grateful for all of you my friends. There are days when you don't know that YOU really keep me going on and inspired. I can always reach out to ya'll and know that you will be there to listen! Thank you!!

What are the three things you are greatful for today?? Everyone take care and I'll check in later!

Bug what a wonderful idea of listing 3 things we are greatful for. I to, have been haveing a hard time dealing with some stuff. Basicaly it has to do with the kidos again, Some medical, educational and now legal with the youngest adoption being prolonged, but he's not going any where. My diet has been slipping. So it was funny when you did the 3 gratefull things. I was going to do something like this to lift my spirts, It always seems to get my head straight.I have more than 3 but here is 3 that will lift me rite now.

1)I am thankful that I found a new church with an absultly amazing childrens program, where I as a person I feal welcomed, but not threatened by judgement or pressure. ( To get it all was an amazing find).

2)I am greatfull to have my 4 wonderful children, husband and father. I am also going to include people outside of my family who are a great support rite now to me. My oldest DS
teacher who is trying to work with us on helping to figure out my DS needs. A service cordinator who has been helping us get the service threw a organization that my youngest DS needs and all the many doctors and theraphist that we see.
I am grateful that my middle DS has been gaining weight with his feeding tube and is slowing starting to be able to swallow tabel food besides purees. ( What a blessing!)
I am grateful that my oldest son is weening off his ADHD medicine, and we are not seeing any hyperactivity at school. I truly belive that he does not need it any more. He is still strungling way to much in school, but the medicine was not makeing a diffrence either way. Just effecting his system.

3) I am greatfull that I have this site with all of you, and the knowledge and research that every one from members to DR's, and nutrionalist have done to develope this way of eating and exercising. I truly believe that it is and will be my only way to avoid sickeness and depression.

Bug- Thanks again for starting this.

So what are the rest of you great full for.

Dodger my dog was upset that I didn't add him so he will be the bonus# 4 DODER the Supper Dog. He loves to cuddle at night, but not much of a hoover that I deperatly need during the day.

Hellow ladies:

It was another weight dropping night. Down another 1.2 lbs. I was so shocked I got out my backup scale to make sure there was nothing wrong with my digital scale. My backup scale confirmed I had, indeed, lost the weight. I don't know what's going on. I ate eggs this morning to switch it up a bit again. But mostly because oatmeal just didn't sound good. I think with all the analyzing, reading, researching, etc. I've been trying to do because of my difficult summer and the huge stall, maybe I figured out the key to the whole Atkins process. Hopefully now I have enough lean muscle mass to burn lots of calories. By decreasing calories to between 1200 and 1500 a day, just enough so as not to starve my system, and my body is burning calories at a higher rate hopefully due to the muscle I've built up over my stall of the century, this allows me to lose the weight. Hopefully the trend will continue and my body won't figures out what I have done and shut down again. The moral of the story is DON'T GIVE UP! There are many times I thought I would because I got so discouraged. Thank you all for your support during my diffiuclt time and listening to my whining.

Lisa: Good for you. You are doing well and losing at a fantastic rate. Oh resistence is so hard. Especially when it comes to fudge. You should make a batch of low carb fudge for yourself. It's really good, albeit not as sweet and high in rich cocoa percentage.

Bug: You are doing great. I hope things go better for you at home. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Kbetz: Ha, you had more than three grateful for's. You are grateful for a lot. But that says wonderful things about your positive attitude. You do have your hands full.

I'm grateful for so many things, but I will list 4.

1. My family, DH and kids. They are my love and my life.

2. My job. It has been our sustenance for years.

3. The study. Without it I wouldn't be where I am today weightloss wise.

4. These boards. I love posting daily. I love reading everyone else's posts. It has been an important part of my life since I started my weight loss journey. Thank you everyone.

I'm a blabbermouth today and better get to work.

Yah, me too. Actually I have a lot of work to do but have trouble focusing sometimes when nothing is an emergency. I work better under pressure.

So everyone must be on vacation or working really hard or teaching their kiddos, or something.

So what do you do? I'm a paralegal. I focus on estate planning and probate. We work a lot with the elderly. I've been at this for years. I've been with my firm for over 25. I was really young when I started here. No kids and newly married. Now I only have one left at home.

We have hopes and dreams of moving to a nicer neighborhood when DS granduates. The school system he's in now is good so we want him to graduate from there. Besides we can't rip him away from all his friends and activities.

I have one brother and two sisters. My mom is still alive, 83 years old. My dad died when I was 16. My oldest sis migrated to Texas which sucked because I was the closest to her even though she's 10 years older than I am. My bro lives close by but we never talk. I'm closer to his wife than him. And my sis that lives close by, I have absolutely nothing in common with. Sad but true.

So there's a bit about me. So what's the scoop on you? Ha, that ought to keep ya busy for a while.

Hey ladies, How is everyone. I feal like I have been running on a wheel lately. I have forgoten about myself again and put everything and one ahead of my self. Oh well, I have to take care of them. We are still pondering the thought of home schooling, but I dont know that I am strong enough to handle everything I do now and insure there education. When they dont make progress at school you blame the school. If I home school and it doesnt work than I have to blame myself. ( fooie, half the time I blame myself any way, LOL)

As of this mornin I am up to 257. That scares the EB GB's out of me. I know where it leads. I am still waiting for TOM and Yes I have eatin Taco bell 2x in the last week (one was a taco salad, the other was nacho belgranday. I have been eating a ton of lunch meat, and hotdogs, bratworst, bacon and cheese. I am assuming some of the 7 is water.
I have noticed that I have noticable health issues when I eat garbage. My acne comes back, I bloat, and I seem to get depressed. Not from gaining, just over all. I feal slugish and less perky. NOT GOOD!
I have been kicking but on my walking but do to some new info I recieved today I will need to just walk when DH is home No more trips to the school for a while. The short story of my issue is that I suspected that we were being watched for a few weeks. DH thought I was nuts. As it turns out some one is trying to "pose as family" of my youngest and interfere with the adoption. The agency is doing an investagation. So far the person left a weird voice message at the agency, but didnt give there last name. The agency called me with details today and I am so freaked for so many reasons. This is just really weird!

So my plan was to do an egg fast for 24-48 hours to get into deep keto,( where I havn't been since June) so I could control my craveings and get my mood up. During today I forced down only 1 HB egg. 100 oz of water, and tonight I knew I had to eat something or my cals would be way to low makeing everything worse.I ended up frying up some squash and half a cheddar susage. I know the susage was not the best choice again but, it was easy and palatable. I think I am or are close to being in a keto state, or my nerves are just so fried that I cant eat. Either way the scale should move.

I know that so far in my life things have a way of working out. I have to just take everything one day at a time and it will all come together eventually!

Where is every one lately? Bug, did you spreed a bug?

Lisa- I don't remember exactly what my dad used to put in his pb fudge, but I wondered if you could make a batch using splenda? Some PBs have only 3-4 carbs. All I remeber was he used a ton of sugar and pb, not sure if there was anything else that might have had carbs.

Dream- your family sounds nice.

Kbetz do hope your day today will be better....

I am really sore this morning.... muscle ache all over.... I don't know how many times I got up last night, to either put some pain cream on, or to go to the bathroom.... So I am sore and tired.... but I knew I still have alot of fudge to finish, and would like to finish it before Dh gets back home.... so as soon as I get up from here, I am back at it again....

the good news is I am down another 3.6 lbs this morning... getting closer to my siggy weight , only a few more pounds to go..... I still have alittle bit of fuild on my legs and ankles.... maybe I will lose the rest of it today and tonight..... It always seems like i go to the bathroom more during the night??? anyone else do this?

I am still not stick with the plan all day long... me and dh went to Pizza hut last night, I ate a salad and pizza topping and a couple of piece of thin crust..... so I had some carbs that I soundn't of had.... So maybe if I will be good today, then I will lose the rest of this water weight tonight.... and maybe make it to 349 in the morning....

I was thinking yesterday..... even though I have been up and down alot the past few months.... I have been able to maintain around the 340's with a fluctuation of 10 to 15 lbs water weight on average.... this make me feel good... I think one thing that has helped me, is knowing that when I eat the high carbs, pasta, white flour, sugar.... then I gain water weight.... so I haven't threw the towell in so to speak and give up... INstead I know as soon as I get back on my diet, it comes right back off...

went I weight around 400.... sometimes up, sometimes below .... I would lose 20 lbs and then gain it back.... i haven't been back up to the 400 since January.... so this is big for me.... Now i just need to start focusing on to 300 and doing what it takes to get there.... i know that if I really get motivated and push myself, that I can make it very close to 100 lbs off for the year......

really time to get up and get back to the stove... will check back in later

Hiya ya'll!
Hopefully it will be more active in here today - kbetz - I hope nobody caught a 'bug' That was too funny! It was just so quiet in here yesterday and work was not keeping my attention focused for some reason.

kbetz - please be careful with your walks. People can sometimes do crazy things and we need you here honey!!

mycattaz - hang in there!! Oh, you are making me so hungry for FUDGE anything sweet.

Dream - you work with estate planning/probate you are the person I have needed to talk to. I have an appt this morning with our family lawyer about my situation at home with DH's father living with us. It is so stressful right now.

I'm hoping I can glide through the next couple of days. I'm trying not push the treadmill this week. For some reason, when I start my back kind of clicks out a little. I'm taking medicine for it, watching what I eat and trying to get over 'that time' before I start kicking up the treadmill walking again. It doesn't help that I sit ALL day/night long between my 2 jobs. I'm nothing but a paper pusher

My day job, I type reports all day through a dictaphone. They can range from 2-20 pages. It just depends on the contents. I also pay company bills and upkeep the database with all kinds of information. My night job I encode checks all night. It's strictly production and I make little bonuses depending on how much work I do. I usually encode 10,000-15,000 checks nightly. Not much excitement but the money is great.

Enough about me. Ya'll have a wonderful day!! Will check in later!

Hey guys. Sorry I have been gone so long. We all know how weekends can go. And we were very busy. I will catch you up on that stuff in a minute. First things first:

You guys ROCK. Look at all those numbers going down. Yahoooooooo!! Lisa, Bug, Dream. WTG.

Looks like you guys are also the only ones here lately. Must be something in here that keeps us going strong. (note I haven't been in here lately)

Kbetz- wow....you live in Ohio right? There is a way for you to get free, yes that's right, free!, public school at home. They will supply a lot of things for you including a computer (if you want another) a printer/fax/copier, and all your texts and school programs. Basically you can control where your taxes go and how to spend your money to a certain degree. If you want to put your child in a "gym" class like gymnastics or something like that, you can and your taxes pay for it. (at least is use to be that way, I heard they were revising it to a certain degree)Here is there site, OHDELA. OHDELA - Ohio Distance & Electronic Learning AcademyThis is what we were going to do b4 we moved to SC. Basically all your taxes go to this "school" instead of your local public school. You can also just homeschool with your own stuff instead of public. You can choose any curriculm you deem fit for your children or you can go with a company that supplies all your curriculm. There are a lot of choices. You figure out which one is best for your family via finances, levels, Biblical, or whatever. One of the best ways to get info is to talk to other homeschool parents. There is probably a HS group around you. Go to it and ask tons of questions until you fully understand it or what you might want to do. I was confused at first because I never new really anything about it. I am still catching on. It was very intimidating to me at first, but now it is not thanks to all my friends that have hs for years and are a wealth of info.

Here are a few web sites I found. Do your own search too.
Homeschool Information, How to Get Started

Public-schooling-at-home

We use Accelerated Christian Education (ACE) for most of our stuff and then supplement with other things. We just want it Biblical and like I said, we are new at this and they have a very independent structure for the kids that is top of the line in learning. But...you can do it any way. Use books from the library. Find things at Big Lots or book stores. We just found 4 great "Hooked on Phonics" programs at Big Lots. $5 each. We have over $150.00 worth of Hooked on Phonics stuff now that we are using on our 4 year old. We will also use it for her when she is in K next year. And of course my two year old is learning at his level with this too. So, there are lots of ways. I think Divine has been doing it a long time and she might have more detail on things. But really, it is up to the parents. And pray about it. God will direct you and if He wants you doing a certain thing, He will convict you of it.

Also, since every kid is different, you can do different things with each of them. Kids that are more independent can do some thing like ACE while kids that like to use more sensory ways of learning will do good with other things. Go to a homeschool convention which are usually in the spring and be prepared to see EVERYTHING.

If you have any specific questions, please feel free to ask. Just remember it is a lot less complicated than you think. Doesn't mean it is not hard work, but the rewards are incredible. I feel I have the best job in the world. Raising my children.

WOW that was a mouthful.

OK ladies here's the scoop. I started doing real well on Saturday. and then...dunt dunt du...we decided to have a bonfire for dinner. BIG mistake. We made hotdogs which were not a problem, the buns don't taste good to me anyways. Ok so I did good there. Even the marshmallows were not a big deal but those dang Pudgie-Pies and Pizza-Pies. I had one of each. And that opened the can. The next day (Sunday), my husband and I go to a marriage Enrichment class on Sunday nights at 6:30pm and we go out to eat b4. We did another pizza buffet. I did good with the pizza, scraping te toppings off and eating them and I even ate a salad. But the dang Brownie Pizza. I did have almost the whole piece. Then on the way home, I was craving McDonald's french fries (yuk) yummmmm!!

To top it off, my scale was broke. We have a digital scale and in my bathroom is all carpet so I put my scale in my big bath tub and weigh myself in there. Well, we had a plumbing problem and my tub go backed up fro the washer and dishwasher and all the other water a house of 6 uses. And it wasn't working. I thought ROLAIDS. I mean RELIEF. But last night it started working. I was too scared to get on it. I really need to see how much weight I gained. I am very afraid. I haven't exercised ane have been gorging on junk food all week.

Who will be here for me when I go weigh myself. I will really need someone to catch me when I fall ?

I did it. I weighed myself. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I thought I would be in the 60's or even 70's. But fortunately enough, I am at 255. Not to make any excuses for my gorging, but I am pms-ing and I should be starting this weekend. But regardless, I need to get back on track. Does eating all eggs really throw you into Ketosis faster or harder?

Tiffani you just gotta hold in there and be strong sweetie!! I *know* it's hard. Right now I am so craving something - anything - sweet.

I just got back from the attorneys office and I feel more comfortable with the knowledge that I got there. I'm relieved from that. Now, if I can just get my FIL to do his part all will be well and this stress can get off of me. My shoulders and neck are so tight from the tension. I ache like I've been hit by a mack truck and then reversed and hit again.

Thankfully, I'm off tonight from my 2nd job. Usually we do chicken (Popeyes) on Wednesdays I think I'm looking forward to it.

Hey Ladies: I'm glad our small little group has stayed together. I started this challenge back in January. If Jennay pops in once in a while, she and I are the only original ones left. So chat it up ladies. We need to get this thread rockin again. Anyone who is reading this, we welcome you to join our group!

Well, I'm up .2 of a lb today. I had under 35 carbs yesterday until (just like Tiffani "dunt dunt da.....") I had a piece of birthday cake at a party at our office. Good grief. Oh well, I'm sure it's just water hanging on because of the sugar. I'm going to down lots of water and green tea today to see if that makes a difference. I also, as detected by the low carb amount (not counting the cake), consumed more protein than normal. I must have been craving meat. I had two hamberger patties last night. That's really unusual for me, but they tasted so good. Broiled, mind you, to lose the fat, but still really good.

Tiffani: I'm happy that the reading on the scales wasn't as bad as you thought. It's always such a relief. Remember, this is the most forgiving WOE ever. Jump back on and the weight will fall off.

Lisa: I really feel for you. You must be exhausted from all the hard work you are doing, not to mention resisting temptation. Congrats on the additional lbs lost. Gosh, you lose it amazingly fast. I like your train of thought, looking back. You've lost about 60 lbs. That's amazing. So lately maintaining is a good thing. This is a lesson I have learned from stalling out so long.

Kbetz: Be careful on your walks. I hope no one interfers with the adoption. That is scary. Hang tight. I've never done the egg fast or the meat and egg fast. I just couldn't make myself give up my veggies, so I don't have any experience in that department. Ahh, you jumped in while I was posting. Yay! Congrats on getting down to 251. See, its all going to work out.

Bug: When I started this job years and years ago, it was very different. I was a "word processor." I produced and that's it. No client contact, no files of my own, etc. That has done a complete 360. I work closely with our elderly clients. I have about three clients the firm refers to as my boyfriends. Handsome, older than 80, but they call me often with questions or pop in for a visit. Always friendly, and so much fun to work with. Oh how they flirt. It's so cute. I'm glad you have a night off tonight. Two jobs can really wear you down.

WTG kbetz!! Was that from eggs? Does that really throw you in faster? Good job on the 6 pound drop. I guess I am going to start back up tomorrow. I don't feel like starting today. I have already eaten 2 pieces of peanut buttered toast and mini corn dogs for lunch. I have lots of eggs in the fridge. Tomorrow is also my shopping day so I will get myself back on the plan. It's not too late to make my Nov. goal of my Christmas goal. Thanks for the encouragement. Glad to hear all is going to be fine!!

Bug- Thank you so much. You are right. I can do this. I am glad you got some encouraging news from the Atty. You are doing good on your WL too. Keep up the good work.

Dream- hey, thanks a lot. You are right. This is the most forgiving woe. I haven't any doubts that I am going to get back on and I know I can make my goals. I just need a break. Waiting to see if TOM happens or ... You are doing wonderful. The program you are in seems to be a good motivator too! Good job!!

Divine- how are you? Hope things are going ood at the pool. Is it indoor or outdoor? I miss the change of seasons. Not much leaf change here in SC. Hope your mom is doing great. Happy HSing!!
