losing 100 lbs in 2007 - Week of 9/10-9/16
I thought I would start the thread this week - I didn't see one.
Congrats on Tiffani and everyone else that loss this week! WTG As you can see in my sig - I didn't lose 5 pounds but I lost 4 and I'M UNDER 300. I'm at 298 - YEAH Jumping For Joy!! I'm ecstatic to be under 300 for a change. Now, I'm concentrating on walking, eating clean and trying my best to lose 39 more pounds before the end of the 12 week challenge. I must admit that this weekend was a little hard. I had a head on collission with a box of Oreo Cakesters courtesy of my DH. So this week, I need to bust my fanny to be down this Saturday. We're all human. HA

Bug - Congrats on making it to "twoterville"!
The scales didn't move this morning, but I did lots of walking and climbing stairs this weekend, so I didn't expect them to. How was everyone's weekend? |

Hi Ladies: Had a busy weekend. Stayed on plan. I'm trying really hard to stick to just 1 or 2 servings of veggies a day or salad or one serving veggies or salad and 1 serving strawberries a day for my carbs and then proteins, of course. I actually had two servings of salad yesterday and berries. Oh well, taco salad is what we had for dinner so that's what I had. I did walk Sat and Sun, 6 miles each day. I'm back to 189.8.
Kbetz: Your plan looks great. If I could stick to that, I could probably lose. My will power just isn't there right now. Divine: I hope all is well with your mom. Tiffani: Wow, you are doing great! Okay, who's going to contact Oprah to let her know about all of us losers spread all over the country and our desire to meet each other in person? It would be great if she could pay to have us all united and get ahe free wardrobe, oh and maybe a new car, oh, and of course a cruise. What a great suggestion! Jamie: I'd love to lose 2 lbs at this point. Good job. Bug: Yay! Twoterville. Congratulations! You are doing fabulous. Thanks for starting the new thread.

hi Bug,
i am new to this challenge but i want to congratulate you ... welcome to Twoterville!!! may your stay here be relatively short!! ![]() i posted this in last week's thread ... guess i need to be more observant: hi ... can i join in? ![]() i just found this great thread. i'm going to start reading but wanted to introduce myself. i had lap band placed in October of 2006 and have lost 132lbs so far. in 2007 i've lost almost 76 pounds and i really need this 100 lbs in 2007 challenge. i started Atkins Induction off and on in June and recommitted in August, it is working pretty well for me. that's about it ... i'm a pretty boring person ![]()

welcome -loseingjusme
Jamie- glade yo see you and i think 2 pounds is great. You are so close to wonderland. Dream - thanks for the support on my strict plan. I have one day down and am doing ok on day 2. Yesterday I had a headach so bad and I actually got sick.... I know it is the cafiene. I was drinking sometimes close to a 12 pack a day and it was sometimes pepsi max. DH told me to go buy a pop last night and I said NO!. Well this morning I felt like I was hit by a mac truck. On the way to takeing the kids to school I pulled into a drive thru mart and bought a can of Diet pepsi. I cant be sick all day long and I dont know how long it would have lasted. I dont feal great now but Tylonal is helping. I would like to get to the point where I dont drink any. We have a few alcholics ( sp?) in the family who have tried to dry up. I feal for them now. I dont drink because I know I couldnt have just 1. But I wonder if being biologicaly pron to addictions, (if there is such a thing?) if that could be why my cafiene addiction is so high. I mean come on, who drinks a 12 pack of diet pepsi a day. No excuses just water. I had a mommy and me morning with my 1 year old. We went to the thrift store and I bought a 10 pc. bedding set for my room. It is like brand new and DH will like it to. I walked 2 miles last night and I plan to walk and get the kids from school today. That will be 2 more.

Hey, everybody! Thanks to all who asked about my mom. Mom is doing ok today although she looked whipped out...but her sugar was very high when I could get her up. I sweetly and cajoling told her that's it, I'm taking her menu in hand, this is way too serious. I said she has to eat something every 3 hrs. and I'm doing my best to make things she likes but that aren't off the plan. Basically, I'm giving her Atkins Induction options but 35 grams of carbs a day to start.
Losing: Welcome to our thread! The more the merrier! BPgurl: Wow, 2 lbs. down thru TOM and just a bit of weekend snackin' is great!!! Bugs: WTG on entering TwoTerville...Congratulations!!! Penny: Hey, you didn't gain after that exercise, and that deserves a thumbs up!!! Dream: After all that walking, you went down a bit! That's just great! Kbetz: Just wanted to give you a heads up that a very strict plan and exercise don't mix well together. It might be a better idea to either up your clean carbs (just a bit)if you want to continue with the walking or else your fats and proteins...or take a break from the walking just for the few days you are on the stricter plan. You should never feel that sick from changing your woe a bit, ok, sweetie? Today I dropped just .4 lbs...but that's my usual pattern after any kind of gain, even an exercise gain. Today it's damp and slightly drizzling, and I feel it. Ow! My back is starting to whine since I haven't exercised in 4 days...thank goodness, TOM is just about gone, that loser! So I feel better enough to start up again...Daughter and I are considering going to the community center for a Water Workout tonight, which means I have to hustle and make dinner for everybody before I go! My older boys will be home with my mom, so I needn't worry on that score. Yesterday, I had an all-protein day, similar to Atkins72 Week 1 (without the veggies). Figured that's a good way to shock the metabolism again after that naughty cheesecake and ice cream cheat. Today, I'm on PSMF (Protein Sparing Modified Fast) but slightly tweaking it down since I am not going to eat unlimited low-carb greens. Instead, I keep those to Atkins or Kimkins levels - no more than 3 servings a day. I think I'll stick to boneless chicken for dinner and just drink water like it's going out of style! I guess that would be considered a mix of PSMF/Kimkins. I don't care what it's called, as long as it works on getting the wt. loss moving down again!Have a great Monday night, darlins!

Last year my boyfriend got me a pair of really nice boots for Christmas, but they didn't fit my calves. I refused to return them in hopes that I could have them stretched or something. I took them to the local "shoe hospital", and the guy there told me that since they had a zipper, they couldn't stretch them. So I put them in the back of my closet.
This weekend at the mall, I tried on a pair of boots, just to see if they would fit (over my calves), and they did! So I went home and pulled my boots out of my closet to try them on, and while they're not as tight as they were last winter, they still won't fit over my calves! I am so disappointed! I have been walking and climbing stairs like crazy to help get this weight off, and once again, my beautiful boots have been sent to the back of the closet! I know that it's too early to wear boots (with these hot flashes, I'll be wearing shorts and sandals all year round) and I still have more time to lose enough to get them to fit, but I was just hoping for them to fit. Oh well.

Hi everyone I'm new too...
I'm sorta a more moderate carb person, but I've been trying to cut back my carbs lately and I seem to stick around the 150-200 (pre-net) range lately most days eating about 1400-1700 calories. I'm not on a specific plan other then my own... but I would say its not too far off from South Beach only I don't really have off limits foods (I just keep foods with control issues out of the house!) I've lost 44lbs so far and I have about 108 to go. I aim for a slow steady loss... I've been averaging about 2.5 per week but I think it's slowing down closer to 2 per week which is exactly where I want to be. Although I did lose 4lb this week! Woot! Anyway I'm sometimes bad with the back and forth personal stuff, but I hope you don't mind me posting here as I don't have a home on LCFs... Nice to meet you all! I know there is only 3.5 months left in 2007 so I'm hoping to lose about another 30 this year. Oh, and I'm 33 and an Artist/bookbinder from Chicago! I have 3 cats and one husband... loved seeing the kitty photos in your last thread! -muse |

idealmouse- Welcome and it sound like you are doing great.
Divine- I just wanted to let you know that am fealing better and my carbs landed today aprox 20. So I can deal with that. I am planing on makeing some cabbage tomarrow. Sounds yummy.... mmmmm. Glad to hear your mom is doing better. I ended up drinking 2 cans of pop today. I would love to go cold turkey, but I dont like the with draw symptoms. A few years ago I went cold turkey and I ended up with flu like symptoms and terrible shivering spells. Last edited by kbetz0419; 09-10-2007 at 07:57 PM.. |

Ideal: Welcome to the board!!! You'll have fun here!
Kbetz: I'm glad to know you are feeling better. Lucky girl you, to like cabbage! I can barely tolerate it, even when I try to put a 1/2 head in my own version of "Miracle Soup." Well, I'm tuckered out...will have one more circle round the threads and then I'm heading for the sheets! Dh, 2 of our teens, and I exercised tonight - the guys on the machines, and Daughter and I worked out 1.5 hrs. in the water. The thing is, we collected boys again (this happens to me wherever I go! Even when alone and even though I'm a middle-aged mama, I seem to attract boys of all ages, mostly little boys and teens...they talk to me, splash me, bump into me, talk to me, hang out by me. I think they pick up my mommy vibes! Daughter, on the other hand, looks like and is built very much like a young Audrey Hepburn, so you know why she attracts attention!). Anyway, we'll see if I gain again or not from that exercise. But I won't worry about it since I know I feel so much better, and I lose more inches, when I can stick with my exercise routine! Last edited by Divine Miss M; 09-10-2007 at 07:56 PM.. |

Divine- I understand the mommy vibes. Kids I dont even know come up to all the time or ask me to push them on the swings. It seems like I am always know as DD's mom or DS1,2 or 3's mom. Oh well I like kids. ( good thing!)
as for the cabbage .. I'm not big on boiled but I love fried. |

everyone!Sorry about the run by posting yesterday morning. Mondays are so frustrating at both jobs. Didn't get home again last night until 1am - so another week of running on energy and that's about it. ![]() Idealmuse and losingjusme - jump on board with both feet and start running. We are here for you! Everyone here is so encouraging and when you need that little kick - just let us know. We are all in this together!!Saturday will be me and DH's anniversary - 19 years. What a long time. I'm trying to surprise him with some rims for his truck and I'm hoping that's going to work out. I placed the order yesterday and I'm waiting for them to come in for installation. He's been whining about wanting rims for his truck every since he got it last December. He doesn't have a clue yet. I will be checking in later. I think I'm here at work for the duration today - unfortunately. Everyone take care of you!! |

Today’s Report: Maintain day! It's been quite a while since I maintained after exercise - I usually gain! I think that's a good indicator that I'll see a slight loss by tomorrow.
Kbetz: Well, being a kid magnet can be sweet most of the time, especially when the children or teens are themselves sweet and polite, but it is frustrating when I have these older boys constantly gravitating into my personal space as I (attempt to) workout in the water. I've nicely told them I would appreciate it if they would move back a bit, or I ask them to please watch where they are going. Believe me, I'm no wimp and I do have much experience with children and teens, so I know how to talk to them, being firm yet kind. I also know when to say, "Enough is enough!" So far, none of the techniques work for long. You see, while working out in the pool, I swim to one particular area, out of the way, and stay there for my conditioning exercises. Everybody knows I hang out in that one corner. Now I know I'm not invisible in my little corner of the Olympic-sized pool, yet I've been jumped on, banged into, splashed in the face with a big wave of water, you name it. Most of the boys are heedless and simply don't listen - all I get is a quirky smile or a blank look (Who, me?) , they back off for one minute, and they're at it again. I swim away and they follow me...I don't want to be rude to them, but it's getting old! I've made up my mind that the next time it starts, I'm going to be very firm and tell them (not ask them) that I need the time alone to concentrate on my exercises, and I hope that does it. I'd rather not snap at them...I think there is a reason why even the aggravating boys come by (they first came to me long before they even met my daughter)...their parents are never with them, they tell me enough about themselves that I can discern that they are "lost boys," and they want some positive adult attention. That is why they are always showing off (not to mention that is something most boys do!), but too often in ways that are calling cards for Trouble (yes, I purposely typed Trouble with a capital T!). The problem is that most (not all) of them are...shall we say...uncouth and, as I said, heedless of the rights of others. It is a very real concern, not just for my workout time but mainly in regard to their own ongoing development. That is why I'm so patient with them instead of snarling at them (they actually complain to me when other adults in the pool do so, but they fail to realize why they've seriously irritated someone else and I explain the situation to them...the usual result is that they act as though they didn't hear me. You can see the problem, right? Total self-absorption and no regard for the rights of others)...Anyway, there are so many children and young teens who so obviously need some real kindness, and patience is only one of many things which Our Lord expects of us. Ah well, please pray for them and pray for me, that they begin to learn why they offend others so often and also that I handle the dilemma in the right way. Bug: Hey, sweets, congrats on your upcoming 19th anniversary! What a nice surprise you have in store for your dh! May you have a beautiful day when it arrives! |

Dream - What is it about stalling after you've reached "onederland"? I couldn't wait to get here, and now that I am, I've been stuck losing and gaining the same three pounds! GRRRR!
![]() Jennifer - I haven't been in quite a while, but I think they may have changed the name of the restaurant on Westheimer outside the beltway from Houston's to something else. I remember when I was "single and looking", I used to meet guys there because they have a nice bar. Losingjusme - WOW! The lap band has been great for you! 132 pounds is amazing! Kbetz - I couldn't believe it when you said that you drink a 12 pack of Diet Pepsis a day! Hopefully you will be able to cut them down soon with no headaches! Personally, I have to be careful of how many I drink because the artificial sweetener gives me a headache. My daughter can't drink them at all because of the same reason. We're more tea people. I drink mine plain, but my daughter likes sweet tea. My boyfriend will drink it either way.IdealMuse - You will find that there are several in here with cats. I, unfortunately, am allergic to them.DMM - So, you've lost so much that the guys are starting to notice ya, eh? Go you!!! When I was a kid, I hated cabbage, but I love it now. My favorite is pan fried with bacon (which they serve at a local chain of cafeterias). Bug - Congrats on your anniversary! Monday is my 2 year anniversary with my boyfriend. We're going out of town this weekend, and I was going to plan a cheat, but then he told me about a party we're going to in a couple of weeks, and I can't chance a gain. I haven't seen any of the people that will be there since I've lost, and I want to look good! My legs were killing me last night and I have been suffering with horrible hot flashes lately, so I didn't sleep well at all. I took some potassium, but it didn't help with the leg cramps. I finally made a doctor's appointment for Friday to get back on hormone replacement therapy. I sure hope that they don't cause me to gain! |

Thanks ya'll!
Me and DH are a long story. I just checked with the company and hopefully the rims should be in tomorrow morning for installation tomorrow afternoon. We are going out for a quiet candlelit dinner Saturday night just the two of us at our favorite place. It's called Fago de Chao and it's a brazilian meat restaurant. It is fabulous! Hopefully, I can stay on plan. ![]() |

Divine.. Boy everytime I read your posts its like reading my own. I understand how you feal. You need your time and yet you don't want to blow off todays youth just because others have. I think you are doing great. If you like to interact with them maybe you could say something like In 45 minutes I will meet you.... but for now it is my time.I wanted to check on something though. Are they playing with you and its getting annoying, or are they harrassing you on purpose to be mean. If you think they are purposefully harrasing you than you need to go to a supervisor. When I used to swim at our Y we had a time when only adults were aloud to go. I know you have a teen age daughter that goes with you so this might not work. Maybe if she is mature enough you could get permision to take in her to the adult swim.. If there is one.
I wanted to add that I have had to make a rule at our house that if I am not GOOD friends with your parents , you don't play inside.I want to be able to say ok, enough is enough and we are going in if things get crazy. Its harder when they are in the house, and not all parents raise their kids with the same values. With haveing 4 children, I am not going to get away from kids always being around. Plus, I wouldnt want to. I have a neighbor girl who is 5 years old and climbing ours/ neighbors fence to talk to my kids. She is in DD's class. She ask's all the time when she can come over to play in the yard? I keep telling her when I met your mom or dad, and they say it is ok. We have lived here for 10 months. Our houses are on the corner so we face diffrent streets. She has no supervision in her own fenced in (pool) back yard. I will not become the neighbor hood day care. I do talk to her other the 6 ft high fence, but that is my rule. No parents, No entrance! She is climbing up the trellace on her side to see over. She is going to get hurt. penny- I have switch to warm diet coke that I dont like and I am down to 1-2 a day. Its rough. I know this has to be part of the reason why I have been spuutering in my loss. I droped alot in the begining when I cut back on the pop. So far I am doing ok with the new plan of diet and exercise.
bug- sounds yummy, I don't know how well this works, but I have heard of people knowing ahead of time that they may be eating slightly off plan doing this... The day before or day of,( if it is a night thing) eat very little carbs, than the day after eat very little carbs. Your body stores them and if there is none to add to when you do eat you may not gain. I have kind of done this. If I am going to the in-laws where I know my FIL is not going to take No for an answer, than I will skip carbs all day and when I get home. I can usually get by him with a bite. I just do it the day of. I will be doing the 2 day thing over the up comeing holidays. Last edited by kbetz0419; 09-11-2007 at 08:38 AM.. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() :c lap:![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() It looks like you are going to make your goal. I have to tell you, I thought that was a lot when I first said 60 pounds, but I see that you are able to do it. I bet your clothes are pretty loose too. Nice feeling. you know, I don't like it when I see the kids boxers hanging out of the back of their jeans because their pants are down to their knees. But I do understand how gooood it feels to lose your pants!!! hehe ![]() 19 years....wow. Truly amazing. Not many can say that now a days. I know I can't. But will be able to in 14 years. If it's a Brazilian meat restaurant, it will be good. We have one of those here but haven't been there yet. Ours is called Rioz, I think. Have fun. BPgurl- nice whoosh!! WOW you are almost to ONEderland. Congratulations. and while being in school . Good job. You joined Penny!! WTG ladies!!

you will find this thread very helpful and encouraging. Jump right in!! We are glad to have you here. Good luck with all your goals. We work together as a team here and it is very supportive that way. So put on your jerseys and lets roll!!Dream-- thank you !! yeah, it feels good. i definately couldn't have done it without God. And you guys of course!! OK...so I say we all contribute to the same letter to Oprah. We can give a brief history and the way we are doing it. She may want to follow are story from now until a while... and then we can have a big bang reunion, on a cruise of course!! With new clothes and make-overs...my list is growing!! OOOOHH and tummy tucks for the loose skin!!lol So we need to have some one start a letter and then pass it on to the next person and so on and so on, so they can each add there part of the story. And send in one big letter from us all. So who wants to start the letter...not me... ps. your body might just want to plateau for a while but hey, you're in ONEderland...so be it!! |

Kbetz- hello lady! How is it going? Kids doing good? Spelling tests going good? is your health back to normal yet? Make sure you give yourself credit for all the things you have accomplished the past few weeks, not just the weight loss, but for keeping your family in tact and for being a super mom. WTG you are truly awesome!! Good job on the walking. Do you know for every cup of caffiene, you should drink an extra cup of water...at least that is true for coffee probably the same for soda, but not as much water to drink since coffee has more caffiene...i think it does at least. I know about those headaches. Not good. But you are so strong, I know you'll do what you need to and it will pass soon. How exciting to spend money on your own room!! I know we as parents usually put ourselves last and when we finally do something for us and hubbies, it feels rewarding!! Keep going on your new plan. I upped my exercise and lowered my carbs last week and lost 6 pounds. When my body adjusts, I will adjust too. Can't wait to see how it goes. Drink tons of water. It is essential for this kind of week. But I know you know that...just wanted to say it!! lol
Talk to you later...I see you got off. Have a good day....btw we weigh the same!! |

MAJOR LCF POSTER!

Hi ladies. I meet with my research group today for my officia weigh in. Hopefully I won't show a gain from last month, but I will probably weigh in the same. It was 190.4 or something. That is about what my scale said this morning. Sheesh. I'm getting so frustrated. Up 1, down 2 up 3 down 2. Just can't seem to keep it off.
Penny: Yah, I love onderland, but give me a break. I can't seem to get past this point. Oh, I saw your comment about the boots. I love long boots, but alas, I can't buy them either. I think the reason I can squeeze my butt into size 12 jeans is most of my weight is on my legs. I have HUGE calves and thighs. Ugh. It runs in my family. Bleh. Your boots in the closet also reminded me of this wool jacket I had before I got married. I forgot all about it, but it's still hanging in the closet 26 years later. I loved it so I never got rid of it. I think I weigh about the same as I did when I got it, so I'm going to try it on. (can't now, I'm at work) It will be very retro or nostalgic if it fits. I kind of don't think it will because I was much younger then and built differently (before babies) but we'll see. Welcome Muse and Losingjusme. Join right in. Muse, I like your weight loss plan. If I could get back to losing 2 lbs a week I would be sooo happy! Oh, and I love kitties Jamie: You are so close to onderland. Yay! You go girl! Congrats Bug on your anniversary! Divine: Way to maintain! You are doing so well. I really want to stick to my plan of lots of proteins due to the amount of exercise, and two carby things a day like a salad for one meal and a veggie or fruit with my dinner. I'm hoping that will work. I may go back to my food diaries from when I first started and mirror what I ate then, (although I hate to ).Okay, here's a good one. I always like watching the Biggest Loser for some inspiration. When I was at my heaviest, I always weighed MORE than the women on the show. At least now I don't. Kbetz: I love diet soda, but have heard it can do terrible things to your bones, so be sure to take lots of calcium. I quit drinking it when I started this plan, except for an occasional meal out or something as a treat. Now I need to stop drinking coffee. I went to decaf for a while though and didn't see any change in weight loss so I went back to caffinated. Gotta get my jump start. Have a great day everyone else. |

Miss Divine M- Hi there. You are doing so great on your plan. 67 pounds is awesome. You are right for taking control of your mom's eating. If she won't do it...well then hey. You do have a little authority (respectfully) since it is your house. Your husband is the Leader in that house. And being there she has to respect that. Mother's are special and deserve so much respect and honor. What might be hard for her to understand is that you are respecting her when you are taking charge of her health for her. Keep up the good work on your WOE plan.
