I wonder if other threads are as supportive to each other. You gals are going to think I'm nuts, but I have said to my husband "hey, I know how I should ask", I should ask..... from the site. At first he thought I was nuts, but it seems like we all have something to contribute.

Tiffani- I had a cheat day, and I am not going near the scale untill wednesday. I ate a
peice of pizza for dinner and a salad.

We walked 2 miles today and between yesterday and today, I finished panting the rail, deck floor, and our room. When I woke up this morning I was so sore, so I know I got a good work out. I can only imagine how I will feal tomarrow. The fat is going to be flying off of me soon.

Tiffani- We liked the church and the kids did really well. Its very modern. Our 3 Y/O went to a class room, 5 y/o to her own and our 18 month old to the nursery. We signed in our 1y/o and they gave me a claim ticket. Then I was told that there is a computer box on the sanctuary wall. If there is a problem they post the childs #. Each week a different class does a diffrent activity. My 3 class was a cooking class and my 5 class was a song and game class. They rotate threw preset rooms. The first and third services are more like at tradional setting. We figured we would give it a try for the kids. They loved it. I missed the formalness of what I was used to church being like, but the had a band that was kind of soft rock. There was no searching threw books. Everything was on a great power point presentation. My husband who has had limited exposer to church felt relaxed.( important point) I was Ok with. ( like I said I prefered a bit more tradional) There will be times when he has to work that I am going to go to the tradional service but that will mean the little boys will both be in the nursery/not a classroom.I thought about on holiday the whole family could do the tradional service. I know alot of churches are going modern but I want my kids to also see some stucture. Than again if it id fun for them then maybe they will want to go more. All in all I think it is what I have been searching for. As of rite now it provides everything I am looking for in a church.

Hi Lisa, Penny and everyone else.

Hiya! I'm back from a wonderful night at a Victorian bed & breakfast in Galveston. It was so incredibly romantic, and the perfect anniversary gift! There were no low carb options offered for breakfast, so I had raisin bran and fruit. Hopefully the scales won't be unkind. Hope y'all had a terrific weekend also!

Lisa - I had Olive Garden on the way down to Galveston yesterday for lunch. I ordered the chicken & broccoli without the pasta. I'm not sure how many carbs are in the garlic sauce (hopefully not too many). My boyfriend hasn't been low carbing at all, so he enjoyed the fact that he had all the breadsticks to himself!

Sounds like you are a daddy's girl, just like I am! Mine will turn 73 this month. He has started having health problems and I worry about him so much because he lives alone.

Kbetz - that's a LOT of walking, missy! My ol' knees are a hurtin' tonight from all the walking this weekend without my new knee braces. I'm going to have to search through my closet to find skirts long enough to cover them so I can wear them to work this week (my last week there). No heels this week for me! Wouldn't you know it? I finally lost enough weight where I can wear them again, but they don't quite go with the knee braces, ya know?

Where is everyone? Hey, I've lost 30 pounds! Woo-hoo! That's a LOT for this old woman! Since Gran hasn't been in here in a while, I guess that makes me the oldest one in here!

Penny- my dd is 77 will soon be 78.... he still very active... never stops.... He is always building something or working on something..... Mom keeps him busy with projects to do around the house... but thats ok, he likes to keep busy.... she worries about him.... but, dad just does better if he is busy.....
I am the only girl, so yes I am a daddy's girl....lol.... but me and my dad are sometimes like day and night..... there are so many things we don't aggree on.... he has even threated to kick me out of the family or disown me because of my beliefs.... but he still loves me

that is the way my family is though.... we hardly aggree on anything... but we know that even though we disagree that we love each other.... I worry about him alot.... sometimes i wonder just how many more years he has... and that makes me so sad.... I know this is just life.... death is just part of it.... My dad and mom both told me one day, that if they died that day, that they would be ok with it.... because they had both lived a wonderful life full of family and thats all that was important to them........ I have been very blessed that i have such wonderful parents.... NO, I am not saying they are prefect by no means.... but they are my mom and dad and I wouldn't trade them for the world....

sorry to babble so much... I guess I miss them already

I am planning to go back in about 3 weeks.... My DS will be turning 25 and we are going to give him a surprize party..... its been awhile since we have done that for him.... so I know he will be surprized.....

Can you tell the difference?

The first photo was taken last year, and the second photo was taken this morning. Can you tell I've lost 30 pounds? Maybe I need to stop wearing my big clothes!

Tiffani: Since one cheat on a weekend seems to help you, you might want to check out the PSMF thread. It is a low-protein, unlimited "clean carb" fast wt. loss program ("crash diet" as the guy who designed it puts it). But there are also warnings to really pull back on the exercise (like no more than two 30 minute sessions per week) while on the fast loss part. There is also info on "free meals" and "refeeds" (there is a difference, and which ones an individual will do depends on our current wt. and activity level).

I find following the program to a T doesn't really work for me - except for a "Shake It Up to Shake It Down" idea (that's another thread under Kimkins, which I started). PSMF works for me as a a change in WOE so that when I switch back to either Kimkins or Atkins with their unlimited proteins, and then I see a drop on the scale. But I'm not crazy about it, because I'm not crazy about veggies, anyway. And the 2 servings of high-calcium dairy products didn't seem to help, either. (On the other hand, I was eating no-fat cottage cheese, and I perhaps should have tried regular yogurt.)

Also, the "not working out" part is fine for those few times I know I can't get to the pool or go outside, but I can't entirely drop exercise, esp. my Water Workouts. Without regular Water Workouts, I cannot walk well or even stand for a few minutes. With them, I now can walk without my cane, I can walk the track for about 20 minutes (slow and steady), I can lift some light weights, and I have better endurance throughout the day. (Not to mention the lessening of pain!) So I'm absolutely not willing to give up my exercise...although I will "shake up" the routine since our bodies so quickly acclimate to our new regimen.

Like Penny, I have naughty knees (they used to say "crunch, crunch" when I walk up the steps) but since doing my Water conditioning exercises, my knees are much better - the knee crunch is now a crackle although I still must be careful with steps - and my degenerated arthritic back pain is also lessened!

PENNY: WTG on the 30 lbs.!!! I know how challenging it has been for you, so you deserve a big, heart-felt Congratulations!!!!

Yes, hon, I can see the difference in your pictures. It looks to me like you're slimming down "all over," but especially in the chest/tummy area! I am so happy that you had a romantic weekend...I would like to try a B&B like that some day!

Lisa: I am deepy sorry to hear about your sil's brother; what a terrible tragedy...I am praying for all concerned.

Jennifer: Where are you girl? How about you, too - Paula, Gran, Tannie, Char?

Penny you look awsome, and it doesnt matter about how old you are. It only matters how you think and feal.
I feal young, and act old , so what do you think about that one ?LOL I hope your knees feal better soon.

Lisa- welcome back and I know what you mean about loving your parents, even if they dont always approve. Half the stuff I do my dad thinks I am nuts for. (Not bad stuff , just going out of my way or above and beyond to do something) I do what I want.He knows how I am and loves me any way. I am thankful for him every day. Mother on the other hand sees life as a whole diffrent world than I do and we choose to disagree on everything. At times I miss her but I usually just I feal sorry for her.

Devine- howedy. I to am trying a carb treat on sundays so thanks for the info.

I was asked to be one of two parent helpers for next Mondays feild trip for my 3y/o class. I can already feal the sucking machine sucking me in. ( who am I kidding, I love it)

I wanted to share what I have eaten today, not for support but because it was just SOOOO good. I was on the run this morning so i picked up a "Nathans" beef and cheese stick pack (3 carbs, 150 cals) from sheetz gas station. I am about to grow feathers form the amount of eggs and chicken breast I have ate in the last 3 and a half months. I made a chedar worst susage (2 carbs) and I fried in a bit of olive oil and a premeasured bag of green beans& squash. (5 carbs) Total lunch was 7 carbs. A bit high for the amount of food I ate but , Oh Boy was it good. I am so tempted to go make another pan.But I musent! I will be fully growing my feathers tonight as chicken will be on the menu.......... bulk, buk, buk, buk, bulk

Hey ladies!! WOW Penny, I sure can tell a difference. You look HOT!! hehe It feels good, doesn't it? That bed and breakfast looks beautiful. So, I have never been to a b&b. I have heard lots about them, but ....did they cook your meals? all of them or some of them or none of them? do they have special activities or is it more like a hotel? I am glad you guys had a great time.

Divine-
thanks for the info. I will read up on it and pray about it. God is leading me through this and want to get all confirmation from Him.
My knees are getting better too. I have had two knee surgeries to remove tissue that had built up from a fall. One was for the tissue and the next was from scar tissue. I also have acute chondrosis (bone on bone). Last I knew it was at a level 4 of 5. That was 4 years ago. The extra weight off is helping a lot. And the strengthening at Curves. I am relying on God for the complete healing of it. Funny thing is that swimming makes it worse. I use to do water aerobics too. That's when I started having worse knee problems. It seems the deeper I went in the water, the more my knee would ache. A few times, when we went in the deep in on our noodles, my knee locked up. Very painful. Dr. said it was from the pressure of the water. Now, when I go swimming, my knee still gets sore. But I absolutely LOVE swimming. Maybe by next year it will be better!! Or maybe I need to wear my knee brace in the pool and that will help.

Lisa- I am glad you had a great time with your family. It's funny how some times it takes us growing up (and our parents) to appreciate each other. My mom died 2 years ago. Three months before my youngest was born. She was only 61. It was lung cancer. It still hurts so much. I miss her. We only got close the last 6 years of her life. We talked everyday on the phone. At least once a day. She had a hard time when her and my dad divorced. Real hard time. Became an alcoholic. She was addicted to her depression meds. She was diagnosed with manic/bipolar. From what I know now about her position in Christ and His authority over demons, I feel she could of been released from that bondage. But...I do know she sobered up and came to Christ. She lvoed God and was seeking Him and relying on Him. So, I will see her again some day. And right now she is whole and healthy and praising God. But it still hurts at certain times. She was at home when Jesus came and got her. All three of us kids were there and her fiance and best friend. We watched her pass. The awesome thing about it was we got to see the reaction on her face when she did see Jesus. Two seconds before she took her last breath, her dog started barking at the corner of the ceiling. My mom all of a sudden found unquetionable strength to sit all the way up and immediately looked up to the same corner and we know she saw Jesus coming for her with His wide open arms. That is what makes me smile about the whole ordeal. I wish I had a mom who lived to be in her 70's too. No matter what appreciate them and tell them how much you have learned from them and you love them. I wish I could tell my mom that one more time.

kbetz- I am so glad you liked the church. It does make a difference if your DH & kids like it. Makes mama happy then too! I am one of the contempory service people. How exciting for you. Don't let all the activities overwhelm you. Pray about them before you fully commit and ask God to show you where he wants you to go and what to do. He will lead you beside the still waters and restore your soul!! yeah!!
I am curious to see if the "cheat" day works for you like me. I actually really hope it does, cuz if not, then I influenced you to cheat!! oops. I over did it yesterday on my free day. I know I over did but am not worried about it. I know how this works now and it's not that big of a deal. We'll have to compare notes on Wednesday. Good luck!!

My lowest weight this time is 250 and thats I were I am. I seem to drop to 250 than up to 255 than back to 255. With a few stops in the middle. I am detremend to get to the 40s this week. Than I can jump and down from 245 to 250 for a while.LOL I need to get my water up and my pop down again. That has been the only off plan thing that I have been doing wrong lately. I admit it I am weak!LOL

Good day, everybody! Today was either a maintain day or I lost a lb. Can't tell for certain, since I was up at 3:30 a.m. (!) and weighed then and it was the same number as yesterday morning; at any rate, I've found that the scale reports a 1-3 lb. loss (if there will be one!) when I can wait until 9:30 a.m. (w/o eating or drinking)--- but today that was impossible.

Right now, I'm incorporating ideas from Protein Power in regard to the amt. of daily protein grams I should eat, but it seems I just can't make it that high without maintaining or gaining. So I am still shaking up the woe by experimenting with both protein amts. and fat amts...and keeping carbs between 30-35 during this phase.

From all of my collective reading, it appears that - for those of us who need to "low carb it" - either upping fats or upping proteins (not necessarily both, although Dr. Atkins might have disagreed) is what makes our metabolisms start burning the fat. The claim is that consuming real fats while low-carbing not only satiates one's hunger but also initiates the fat-burning process (a matter of fighting fat with fat).

Another way to do it is to eat unlimited proteins, keeping fats at a moderate level, and keeping carbs low. A third way to do it is to limit the proteins (according to various formulas), eat moderate-to-high fats, and remain low carb. I found that most but not all of those theories work for me - but only for awhile. My metabolism quickly adjusts, so I always try my best to keep it guessing.

So I switch woes again (including a cycle of low-fat, low-carb, unlimited proteins) to keep the process going. In all cases, though, I still must keep carb grams fairly low.

Since Sept. 1, I've lost just 6 lbs...with the last few lbs. fighting me tooth and nail, and trying to get back on my body! But all of the reading I've done strongly indicates the cause is my exercise, and that the "small" loss on the scale is mainly excess body fat instead of a combo of water, lean muscle mass, and tiny amt. of fat.

By cycling the low carb woes as I now do, I've also been working on getting my high calorie days closer to 1300 or so. (I find it a bit perverse to find weight loss sites, including low-carb ones, that claim we only need to reduce our caloric intake to 500 calories less than maintenance, and we'll lose fat. But there are other sources that oppose such info. Again, I believe there is no "one-size-fits-all" way of eating. In my own experience, I have not that "500 calorie deficit" claim to be true in any way, shape or form.)

Anyway, it's a lovely day here in my part of Michigan, and I plan to go outside and get my "sunshine bath" (per the Drs. Eades from Protein Power). Heaven knows winter will be here soon enough, and I doubt I'll be able to soak in much sunshine in the ensuing months!

Have a great day, everyone!
