My Report for Today: Well, guess what the Divine Miss M did? I CHEATED last night! Yes, I did, darn it.
It was our 2nd son's 21st birthday and we wanted to make it special, but I was still sick as a dog from TOM. So I didn't get to bake anything good yet low-carb as planned (I have a killer low-carb cheesecake recipe for special occasions or when we want a home-baked, low-carb treat)....so my kids picked up regular cheesecake for their brother. I ate a small piece...it was TOO sweet for me...but the darned thing triggered cravings I have not had since June! So I ate some pork rinds to kill them (I have never had any of those since restarting in May)...that trick didn't work too well, and then I gave in and had 1 cup of bear claw ice cream. I wanted more but I stopped myself because I was aware that I was under a Carb Attack! End Result: Up 1.8 lbs. today. I expected a gain, and I'm not too happy with myself, but then I was also shocked...that gain is not bad because the last time I ate the same amt. of ice cream on a cone, I gained 4.4 lbs. overnight. I'm scratching my head over why I didn't gain as much as last time, but I think my cycling has helped my metabolism adjust to the few times I have higher carb days. Anyway, that's 3 lbs. UP in the last 2 days (1 day from having some turkey bacon, I think, but the 2nd day was definitely from going off plan)...and that blew some of my great wt. loss this week. That's ok...it's not derailing ME! Right back to plan today. Btw, I'm being stubborn (ok-how about determined?) and I refuse to change my stats. It's only 3 lbs. and I plan to "get them gone" this week! This is my plan for today and the next few days (it's very similar to PSMF - Protein Sparing Modified Fast, because I'm limiting proteins, and similar to Atkins and Kimkins, since I'm controlling the amts. of salad and greens): B: 3 eggs, 2 pieces lean Canadian bacon (in Pam). 12 oz. tea with 3 tbsp. half-n-half and stevia Drink: 12 oz. tea with 3 tbsp. half-n-half and stevia Drink: 16 oz. water L: 5 oz. Valley Fresh chicken, 1 cup lettuce, 2 tbsp Kraft fat-free ranch dressing (16 oz. SF Rock Star) Drink: 16 oz. water Snack: 1 SF Jello D: 2 chicken tenderloins, 1 cup asparagus, sauted in PAM (water, water, water!) Snack: 1 SF Jello Totals: Water: Aim for 100 oz. or more for water retention Cals: 783 Fat: 29 Carbs: 27 Proteins: 95 KBETZ: Wanted to say hi, hon, but I'm going to church this afternoon and won't be able to chat with you, sweetheart! I hope you have a blessed Sunday!

to your son! 21 is a milestone! The important thing is that you recognized what was happening and put an end to it. How many times have we said, "I'll quit at midnight" or "I'll start again Monday"? Life happens & we succeed when we pick ourselves up and get right back on plan. That is truly what makes this a way of eating for life & not just for now. That water weight (& that's what it is) will be gone in no time. |

Divine- You are human. We all have given in to temptaion. I have no doubt that you will get the small amount and a whole bunch more off this week. We all have faith in you and in each other. I am dealing with a caffiene withdrawl and I am coming off of to much carbs. The fact that you know you are craveing for a reason will make it so much easier. Happy B-Day to you son. My DD will turn 6 on Oct.17 I need to start planing now.

I cant find who asked about other things to eat besides jello for a sweet treat. I make deviled eggs and I add splenda to my mix. if you let it sit for a while it gets sweeter.

Hey, girls! Thanks for the commiseration, it's much appreciated. Well, it was a busy Sunday day today and I've eaten just twice...I don't think I'll have that planned dinner, since it's already 7:30 p.m. and my mom isn't well since I came home from church; she had to take nitro 3 times and I'm sitting here keeping a close eye on her...that alone upsets my stomach, so I can't eat.
About low-carb sweets, I mainly have SF Jello as my snack, since I don't want to trigger any sweet cravings - BUT I do occasionally make a cinnamon-egg pancake (not cinnamon sugar) and measure out 1-2 tbsp. of DaVinci's Pancake syrup. Rarely, when on an Atkins cycle, I will make my low-carb cheesecake with an almond meal/flaxseed crust or cheesecake "cups." Most of the time, I let the family eat that, but I did have a slice a few weeks ago, and it didn't hurt my wt. loss. In the past, I've made a chocolate mousse (sugarless, made with soft tofu, whipping cream, sugar-free chocolate pudding) which is wonderful...but since May, I've had it just twice and discovered that after I eat a 1 cup serving, I maintain the next day. So I will save that for special occasions, too. |
