Hi Everyone!
Laura & mstrudy - My fitday is linked in my siggie. Feel free to check it out. I've been at it for a while, so some days I'm over 20 carbs, but you'll get the idea. And I wholeheartedly agree about getting the bulk of your carbs via veggies. Please keep the questions coming. That is the best way to learn, and we're all here to support each other. And read the book for whichever plan you're doing.
back Chrissy! GO SAINTS!!kbetz - Ya gotta do what ya gotta do. I've had a few planned cheats here & there too. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it to everyone, but I firmly believe that they kept me from the out of control bingeing that I'm susceptible to, especially when I feel deprived. How are the kiddos today? jennay - You can do it & we're here to help!! Tiffani - Those are great sites! I already love Linda Sue's site but I was unfamiliar with the other 2. Quote:

Scales are back down to last Saturday's low, which means that I've wasted five days and proves that I have to get off the couch on weekends instead of lay there!

Hi everyone. Well here I go doing the bouncy thing again. Back up to 190!!!!
Oh well. I need to lose those 2 lbs about 8 times before it actually sticks and this is round 2. The good thing is the scale isn't going to 193 or 194 like it was before, just between 188 and 190.Jennay: Hopefully September will bring a new routine for us and it will be easier to settle in to LC'ing. Hang in there. We can do it. I think it's time for me to go back to 25 or less again for a while and pump up the exercise again. Week on, week off. Although still LC'ing, my carbs kind of creep up when I'm not particularly trying to keep them really low.Christy: Glad you're back. ![]() Lisa: What you said. Yah!!!! Let's keep this board going in 2008. I'm in for sure. ![]() Divine: Thanks for the menus. They always help me. ![]() Tiffani: Thanks for posting the links. I love going through that stuff, even as a refresher course. After being at this as long as I have, sometimes I tend to stray. ![]() Hey everyone else.

Lisa: Ditto what you said. I wish we would hear from Paula, Gran and Tannie again!
Penny: That wasn't a crazy post, that was a reality post! Hey, if you had to rest for awhile, that's ok...don't be so hard on yourself!Jennay and Dream: Thanks, ladies! I'm still a bit dazed and can't believe I finally hit that 65 lbs. when August seemed like such a stubborn month. In the long run, I did myself a big favor with all that shaking it up thru August, cuz now I can have 1000-1150 calories a day, I figured how to cycle proteins, fats, and carbs (for now, anyway), and I no longer have to drop those calories to less than 800 (more like 500) to lose fat! Hey, Dream, whatcha doing with your woe to shake it up? If you are walking and jogging like crazy, are you also dropping inches again??? Ever consider a new exercise program to shake it up, too? Maybe cut back just a bit on the walking and introduce conditioning exercises of some sort? Just an idea!

DMM - That is AWESOME news, lady! Do you realize that you've lost twice as much weight as I, and I started a week after you? Without sounding condescending, I am so proud of you!
Dream - I don't know about you, but I'm sick of this ongoing fight with my scales! I'm gonna win, darn it! If I only lose a couple of pounds a week, then so be it! My menu... Breakfast: 2 eggs in the microwave (at work, had to improvise) 8 oz. unsweetened green tea Snack: SF Jell-O Lunch: Baked white fish, cabbage and spinach 8 oz. unsweetened raspberry tea Dinner: Grilled chicken 6 oz. Diet A&W Cream Soda I guess I'm going to have to start keeping track of all the water I drink. I have no idea.

BTB - What are you eating? I've re-inducted several times over the past four years, so I know how hard it is. I had to totally commit myself. I knew it wouldn't work until I was ready.
My advice to you is drink as much water as you can. Pick up your glass, and drink the whole glass of water before putting it down. You'll fill so full that you won't want anything! Another thing I did is to look long and hard at the bad thing you're about to put in your mouth. Is it worth it? NO!!! Don't eat it! These things have worked for me, and I haven't cheated since June! |

Yah, Penny, since I got close to onderland and beyond, it's been really hard to get the weight to come off. My scale hates me. I would love to lose 2 lbs a week. But instead its been 2 lbs a month for about the last 3.
Divine: Congrats once again! You rock. Thanks for your suggestions. I'm going to start the 10-minute workout in the mornings and try to do it 3 times a week, if not more. This workout, of course, is in addition to the other exercise I already am getting. In addition to walking, I work out at the gym. Treadclimber, elliptical, ab bench, counterweight machine, etc. I'm trying to work my upper body to compensate for the workout my lower body gets doing aerobic exercise. If anyone wants the 10 minute workout, PM me your email address and I will send it on. I'm shakin my woe by dropping back my carbs. When I upped them I dropped to 188, but that's not working any more so its time to drop them back again. I'm working on the fats and proteins thing. I can't seem to pinpoint what's right for me. I need to do some more close watching and fitday calculations to see when I gain and lose. Laura, just jump back in and don't beat yourself up. I know its really hard. I try to budge back to induction standards and keep blowing it by eating strawberries or extra veggies. I just can't bring myself to eat just meat or protein for two meals a day so I end up adding the veggie or berries. I've got to try harder. ![]() Lunch today was a fresh from the garden tomato, two HB eggs and a LC yogert. I have no idea what I will make for dinner. Definitely not LC tortillas! |

Hey all thanks so much for the support. I just found out that my dear uncle passed away suddenly of a massive heart attack. Other wise healthy. This is a huge wake up call, considering my dad is battling lung cancer and I still continue to neglect myself. What a shame!!

For those of you looking for a really easy way to stay at 20 carbs a day.
This is what I do when I dont want to think about it. Most bags of frozen veg have 5 carbs per serving. If the bag has 5 serving than you can say there is 25 carbs in the bag. Nobody wants to eat 4/5 ths of a bag of green beans all day. What you can do is figure out the total number of carbs in the veg bag by mulipling the carbs times the serving. this will give you the total carbs in the bag. Divide the bag so that each serving only has 5 carbs. Place the single serving in a baggy and do this with all diffrent kinds of veggies. You can allow yourself 4 - (5 carb) servings of veggies a day. Then add in your meats. This takes some time but it is one way to be sure that you are getting no more and no less. I will tell you that atkins induction is supposed to have salads and stuff, but this works well for me. Normally cooking veggies would change the serving/carb size, but since you are starting with preset frozen bags, It should be pretty close.

Ok girls I think I have cought up on all the reading. It seems like half of us are flying high and the others are hover over head. We have to stay strong and do it for our selfs.
Ok I have to confess I am in trouble. Big Trouble. I am telling you this to force my self to confront it. I was doing so well not eating the junk, but a hand full of this and that has turned into a bowl full. I have been so worn down and then I got this awfull cold, the kids got sick/ surgeries, and I think I came really close to have a nervous break down. TOM also started. My DH andI have been at each others throats because he refuses to help me. Ok enough wahh, wahh, wahh. This is all part of life and you have to get threw it. I havent been on the scale in 2 days and I am really afraid to see what it says.I can feal the buldge in my waist. The 3 oldest kids are doing well, and 1y/o is about 50 % recovered. My cold is about 40 % gone. I have to get my <<<<< in gear and get serious. I am going to clean out the house tommarow and do what ever it takes to get myself down from what ever it is up to. |

Jennifer, Penny, and Dream: Thank you again, girls. No, Penny, I hadn't realized our starting dates were just a few days apart!
Dream, you are just kicking caboose with all that exercise, so my guess is that you are seeing what looks like maintenance because you are building lean body mass -"boo-koo big-time"! I would think upping your proteins would be the way to go; upping fats a bit probably wouldn't hurt, either. But I found upping all three didn't work for me. It's better for me to have higher proteins and just a tiny bit more of fats, than upping carbs. We're all different, so you might want to try one at a time, or combining two at a time, and then wait for results within a few days....What do you think? Beauty: I ditto Lisa's advice...and I am so very sorry to hear about your uncle. What a terrible shock for your family.... About your woe, I also wanted to say, when first starting Induction, just eat as much lean protein as you desire when you feel like having something off plan. It will help you deal with any temptations...eat chicken, eggs (boiled, scrambled, poached, whatever), a small can of tuna (if you like fish), a few slices of thinly-sliced turkey, etc. Also, if at all possible, try eating about 2-3 oz. of proteins every time you are hungry. That might turn out to be every few hours, but it will get you off to a great start with ketosis and controlling hunger. Kbetz: You're under a lot of stress, hon, but you know...it might help if you reach for lean proteins or fresh, raw veggies dipped in a bit of ranch dressing when you're feeling overwhelmed. Do you boil yourself a pot of eggs for the day? How about canned, all-white meat chicken or water-packed tuna? Or fresh, roasted turkey slices? Or even deli turkey, if sodium is not too much of a concern? Even so, it would be better than reaching for something that is only going to slow you down and make you feel down. You deserve better than that, sweetie! Last edited by Divine Miss M : 09-06-2007 at 06:20 PM. |

Laura - I'm so sorry about your uncle
And your dad. We're going through he same thing with my mom (brain & bone) & I know how hard it is,MissM is right about getting adequate protein during Induction. You also need lots of good fats because that is what keeps us full and happy & fights those cravings. Eat when you're hungry for the first few days, no matter how much you eat. In a few days you'll be in ketosis and your hunger will be down to a more "normal" amount. Don't forget your 3 cups of veggies, & eat only from the Induction list. kbetz - Step away from the junk food! It will not, I repeat not, make you feel better, make your kids feel better, or make you less mad at your DH. MissM is so right (I'm sensing a pattern here ) that you have to be prepared. Have some good snacks on hand for when you need them. I read someone's siggie that said "If hunger isn't the problem, food isn't the answer". I try to keeo that in mind. Don't always succeed, but I try. Your idea about the bag of vegs is good. Nice and easy to keep track of. Dream - Are the extra veggies & berries putting you over 20 carbs for the day? If not you should be OK. Eat 1 cup w/each meal & you won't feel deprived & go over. Do you think you're at a point where you need to add in more carbs, or are you at your CCL? Maybe just add some different carbs. Shake it up as MissM says! Don't forget to take your measurements! |

Tiffani- to answer your question uhh, yeah I pretty much ate junk food- there was a day here or there where I was more careful. I didn't overeat during that time, just ate crappy food (like fast food a lot!).
