Laura- that is a good idea to only weigh once a week, or even twice. But it sure can get discouraging when you see the scale not move. Rely more on your clothes and how the seem to fit...looser!! Are you exercising? Is this your first time LCing? I lost some good weight at first too. The day I lost 8 pounds, and the first 2 weeks I did great. Then for 9 days, I stayed the same. Very depressing. I knew it was going to be TOM the next week. But it never came!! I was thrown off course with the LC. But, I finally started losing again and pretty good. I made sure my heart rate got up to 100% at Curves everyday for a whole circuit. That seemed to kick it into gear. Lots of sweating!! Now I finally started my period and I have had cravings galore. I did eat higher carbs the last two days, but today I went back to under 20. I am going to stay under 20 for a couple days then go back to 20-22. See if I can't shake it up some.

Laura, i don't know much about the LC woe yet and all the different things to do to keep going good. But I sure am learning a lot here from all these wonderful ladies!! What a support team we have. I usually fall of the wagon and stop dieting around 3 weeks into it. I think once I went 4 weeks. And then of course gain it all back ++++. I almost threw in the towel quite a few times in the last 5 1/2 weeks. But these ladies just kept encouraging me and telling me their struggles and their accomplishments. And it works. Hope that is a little encouraging for you. Stay with it sweetie. These first weeks are so important. I usually started the cravings around 2-3 weeks, but if you can get past them, you're good to go. I tried to stay away from all the sweet things to eat for the first month. I would get a sweet tooth at night (when I use to gorge time of the day). So I drank a diet soda and that would take them away, sometimes two of them!! I really would encourage you to try to stay away from the sweets now until you get into a little more. It is easy to eat just sweets like SF jello and then stall...

BTW...i think that is one of the things that makes me stall...sf jello.

Lisa- I am too late you are gone...Hope you find a computer there!! congrats on the 3 lbs. That is awesome...on a good roll (LC one of course)..hehe Under 350 baby!!
You have lost a lot of weight since you started. That is incredible. I see almost all of the Gatlinburg (sp) vacation gain is almost gone. Didn't take too long. Hope you guys have a great visit with your mom and your dh dr appt goes well. Is that a lapso apso puppy? (don't really know how to spell that). What a cutie. We have 5 cats. One is the mama and the others....well you know what happens when a mommy and daddy cat really love each other...We didn't have the heart to seperate them. They all stay outside, unless they come in to explore. But my dh has bad allergies. he still loves animals though. We also have a slightly bigger dog than yours. His name is Caesar. He is part Rottweiler and part lab. Unfortunately, he is outside too. We are going to build a fence around our entire back yard so he doesn't have to be tied up. We like to take him with us when we go on walks. Such good pets. Your kitties are adorable.
hey, thanks for all your support recently. I really was going to throw in the towel a few times and you and the others helped me thru it. Really truly, thank you...

Dreamcometru- thank you. The only way I got thru it was by trusting God. There is a lot of detail left out, that really took a lot of faith. I never realized I was strong until I looked back at it some years later. I guess we just do what we got to do, eh? Yes, my dh is an absolute dreamcometru (hehe). He just came home from work and took all 4 of the kids swimming, to give me a break. Especially since we just started school back up and we home school.
Wow...18 miles this weekend. OUT OF SIGHT!! How long have you been LCing? You lost a lot of weight. what did it feel like to be in onederland? I can't wait. i haven't been 190 in over 10 years.

kbetz- How did dr appt go for 1 y/o and the stitch business? Hope and pray he is recooped from everything. The seem to bounce back so good at that age. I am glad to hear 3 y/o is almost 100% again. Does he enjoy school? any more 100's on spelling from 8 y/o? I bet they all love the new puppy, Dodger. Was that his name or did you rename him because he dodges in and out between your feet as your walking?
I love potty trained puppies and toddlers for that matter. I have sto start soon with my 2 y/o. he just turned 2 in June, so I don't want to push it, but he seems to be acting like he's ready. Can't wait for no more diapers!!!

Wow...you lost 30 pounds since June? INCREDIBLE!! And 70 in 4-5 months. How did you do that...? You maintained for 3 years is good. Was it hard? Did you just gradually sneak back the 40? that is one thing I am afraid of, but I guess if I change to this woe for a lifetime it would be better. I have to get my mind in that direction. and just face the facts, I will gain it back if not...and that would be devastating.

thewhitehouse,
I am so inspired by you!! I just started lowcarbing today. I work at school and I finally realized the school lunches won't work if I want to do the atkins...lol. I am 43 yrs old with 4 children ranging in age from 17 to 7. I need to lose about 120 pounds to be at my ideal weight. I have a long road ahead of me, but I think this thread will really keep me motivated!

Hi every one. Let me start by saying this truly will be my shortest day of posts ever. I just finished doing an hour and a half of homework with 2 kids. I have to give you home school moms a big appluad. I so badly want to help my kids, but I think I have let my self get to worn down. I had a rude nurse cough rite in face on friday and despite the fact that I felt moisture hit my face, she didnt even say sorry. Needless to say I am sooo sick. I have taken everything I can find and I think I am in need of an antibiotic. Every one else in the house is now an them already. So please dont be offended if I dont respond to everyones posts. I will in time.

I will answer the quetion that were directly asked... # year olds first day went great. Codein is only being used 2 times today, because he raised up his shirt and asked. I know he truly needs it when he does that. Spelling tests are on fridays but not this week because they lost a day. ( like that should matter when they get the words on friday before, parents can help!) 1 y/o saw the uroloigist and the catheder comeing out was ok. He was going to remove it this week. Long story short. He had some structure issues with uranating and what I was told after the surgery the other day was 90-95 % sure it was fixed. Now they said it may not be. We have to go back next week. He is either not takeing enough fluid in due to tonsils , to produce the normal 4- 6 diappers a day or the urine is backing up again. Ehhhhhh
Dodger the dog was named after my dads Dodge Durango. The kids wanted to call him Durango. My 3 Y/O calls him doe -dee so dodger it is.
Lastly because I want to go lay down . The 70 I lost was about 3 years ago. I lost 60 in 4 months and 10in aboout 4 days of being in the hospital. I never went below 242. I maintained below 255 for about 2 years and then when my youngest was born everything went nuts. Now I am back at it. I had kept 30 of it off, and only have 8 left to get back to my 70 gone. This time I am shooting much lower before I stop. I only stoped when I had my now 3 year old placed with me and life got a little-- bit-- crazy. Now it is time to work threw the crazness. Health is something that has to be delt with.
It's almost 7pm and I am hitting the hay. I will catch up with every thing tommarow.
PS thanks for shareing all the critters. ( mine pooped next to me earlier)

LAURA-- I just went through something similar. But my period was about 3 weeks late...so it was a long dragged out craving. Is it sweet stuff you crave? What I had to do was just drink a diet soda. Also...how much water are you drinking? When I feel like I can't stop eating, my body is really telling me it is dehydrated and wants some water. So I chug as much as I can and fast. And I usually fill up. I try drinking around 128 oz. of water a day. So far I only cheated on my diet 2 days and the was yesterday and the day before. Dead smack in the middle of my TOM. But everyone has different symptoms and at different times. you can get thru this. It is so worth it. Keep coming on here and getting support. That's what I had to do with it.

Hey, did you guys see that on FitDay, when you put in black coffee that it can add up in carbs if you drink enough? I had 16 oz. of black coffee today and it says that's 2 carbs.

HI Ladies, !!

I'ma go back and read previous posts. Wouldn't it wonderful if you could lose weight just by typing!!

Will be right back with my final thoughts. (ohhh how Jerry Springerish)

TO BE CONTINUED.................

1ST ~ I haven't meet my husband yet and I am currently single....So yeah there's my romantic story!!

My current stats with BUGS is pretty good I got on the scale today and it said 236.? I was kinda in a hurry and just wanted to see anything lower than a 9 at the end from Saturday. I'm kinda happy I didn't see it all because I really want to wait till Saturday to weigh in.

Penny ~ Nice to meet you!! I'm sure just walking to mailbox a few times will get those few lbs off. Perhaps it's just some spare change that was left in the couch cushions!

Mycattz ~ 3 lbs owww weeee!!! WTG!!

Bugs ~ Awesome job on reaching GOAL this week.

Laura-- they are itty bitty creatures. You know insects. Some of them crawl and others fly. But they are very low carb. And high in fiber....lose weight fast

Laura-- JK. The question should be WHO is Bugs? Bugs is a member of this forum. She set a goal to lose 60 pounds by 11-10 about 2 1/2 weeks ago. We asked her if we could join her in her mini goal. Some of us said we are trying to lose 30 instead of 60 and others, their own goals. Then we decided to add a walking goal and we set goals individually on how many miles we want to walk by the same date of 11/ 10. It's not too late to join is you want.

Laura - First of all, don't beat yourself up because of it. It happened, now move on. We've all fallen; the true test is if you get yourself right back on plan, or if you allow one cheat to turn into another & another....BTDT. Were you craving something in particular, or just munchy? Maybe we can help you with suggestions so you can avoid this next time. Again, please don't beat yourself up over this.

Tiffani ~ How come I never got that disclaimer about the bugs? Seriously I've been picking little black specks out of my teeth so my guest can't tell I've been eating grasshoppers. Do you think grasshoppers have more carbs than the crickets? I just can't bring myself to eat them, they make that little chirppy noise.

Laura ~ I think that most people think since you've already cheated once today might as well have another. The important thing is to not do that. Curse, piss, moan and groan and have something that is low carb to move past the cheat. What is done is done and you have to go forward. I think that will get you out of the "depression" of I cheated. Follow the cheat with a positive.

About the coffee adding up to carbs, I just noticed that tea does the same thing. WHAT?????????

Intheprocess- Oh, for sure, the grasshoppers are much higher carbs than the crickets. Also, it depends on how you eat them. Since crickets are high in iron and protein, you can eat them boiled, fryed or even steamed is great. But the grasshoppers raw is the way to go. The fiber is good in them too.

Laura- that's right, just because you did a little cheat, doesn't mean you HAVE TO cheat the rest of the day and start over in the AM. Start immediately. Consider it a treat and move on. You did so good this first week. Which to a lot of peeps is the hardest.
