Good for you Denise. Awesome on going to the gym at 5:15 am.
![]() Penny: It's good to hear from you. I'm so happy for your 25 lb loss. Great job! It always feels so cool to get to your goal. Ouch, a shot to your elbow. Eeeewww. We just got the bill for DS's car. Ugh. Oh well, I just sold the old college car so that will help pay for DS's car. It's always something.Lisa: You are so awesome. Always those encouraging words. A portion of our sermon at church on Sunday was encouragement and how important that is and how people will remember it. You fit the bill. Thank you! I'm going to keep hanging in there.Tiffani, you to. Thanks so much. I don't know what I would do without you all. I am so determined to accomplish the losses. I need to come to the realization that it won't happen over night. I just thought I would be closer to goal in a year's time, but if I go beyond a year, that's the way it goes.So I changed my stats back to 193 because I keep bouncing between there and 190. That way, when I drop to like 192.5 or something I will feel better. Anyway, my son's music teacher is very physically fit, perhaps 10 years older than I, but reasonably attractive (don't tell DH I said that). Anyway, he commented yesterday on how much more I had lost from the last time he saw me. I said HA! I haven't lost but the same 2-3 lbs over and over for the past couple of months. He said well, you are doing something right because I do notice a difference even now. I told him I've been exercising A LOT! He said: "Hang in there, muscle takes time to build which is what you've been doing. Once you have built a good base of muscle, watch your metabolism go crazy and the lbs will drop easier." I freakin HOPE SO. Love you all! ![]()

exercise
For all of those who haven't added exercise into your program yet, let me encourage you to do so. My back and hips used to bother me alot and within a week of starting at the gym, I was pain free. I feel better and have alot more energy too. Start small. I started on the treadmill and with like 2minutes on the elliptical. I tried to work up my elliptical minutes by increasing them by one or 2 minutes every 2 or 3 days. This morning, I did 40 minutes on the elliptical. Even with not having been to the gym regularly over the past month, I could tell, my knees and hips and back were stiff and sore in the morning. I've been back at the gym for 2 days and no more stiffness. It's amazing.

Good morning all, I did it, I did it! I didnt cry today, ok well only one tear. My dughters kindergarten teacher looked at me and said dont cry but than the teacher did so I lost a tear.( it was an oreintaion day) I took my 8Y/O to his line up area this morning and he was ok. I still have to get threw my 3 Y/O firsts day and my 5's real first day. It wont be untill next thurs.
Well , It seems like many of you are finding more time for exercise and are all geared up for the weight to fall off this "Fall". Many of you are already haveing an early "Fall" Theres going to be leaves and fat droping all over the place soon. Hey does any one remeber the comerical a cupple of years ago about people looseing there extra chins in the produce sections of grocery stores. It just poped into my head. I think it was like this guy hit something with his cart and it ended up being a flab of fat. Some one had lost their extra chin. I think I did my self in this weekend I am up 3 pounds today so I am hopeing it is just water and maybe just 1 pound. I nibbled a bit more than I should have with the kids this weekend, add consumed to much sodium. Big NO NO for me. The next cupple of days I am going to only eat when I am truly hungry. This should be easy to do with all the apointments I have this week. i saw my sons teacher from last year and she said wow, look at you. I told her she was the frist person to tell me. She did the hour glass thing in the air and said wow!. It was my first comment other than hubby and best friend. My kids have been telling me but I know they love me now matter what. We just call it "getting healthy" I want them to have body images. I watch their diet and keep them buisy. They dont need to be thinking about weather they are fat or skinny. They just need to be a happy child, and grow to be a well adjusted adult with propper eating habbits.

christy, I am tired of salad for now so I make sf jello and chop up cucumbers in it.while it is seting. Today I had strawberry banana, with cucumbers chunks. It is no worse than a salad with dressing , in fact it is better. Point for Point. I have also used celery. It taste just like fuit. Kind od mellon like.
I feel so bla tonight. I have been trying to eat only enough to be content. Recovering from the weekend. I had a good day. I picked up my oldest from school today and of course when I started asking questins, these were the rsponses he didnt learn anything new, have any fun or make any new friends, his teacher is fine and his packed lunch was OK. He said it was the same as last year, same kids same stuff. In other words he had a great first day. Kids are funny. I should have known better than to ask closed in questions. I get a totally different answer if I ask what did you do today VS what was your fav. part and why. I have to be ready for tommarow. You only got one shot a day before your considered bugging them. LOL. Last edited by kbetz0419 : 08-21-2007 at 04:14 PM. |

Hello to All. How was everyone's day? Mine was great. Had a good workout at Curves. Was down 2 more pounds. I made my first mini goal and 3 days early!! yahoo
God is giving me strength. I had to baked a lot today and it was so easy to not eat any cookie dough, but the reflex to lick my fingers was still there. Luckily I caught myself before it hit my lips!! ![]() Ok... I was going to ask you guys your opinion on things but after reading some of your postings i think that answered it. (thanks Christy) I have a major sweet tooth too. And I haven't had any sweets except for once this past 3 1/2 weeks. I know some recipes and thought maybe I would get things to make them. I even put them on my grocery list. But when it came down to it, I didn't get them. REASON BEING...I have a major sweet tooth (obviously b/c I started this diet at 295). I thought I had better not wake the BEAST and give him a taste of yummy, sweet treats. So, anyways I have been good about that. Well, now that I met my first goal and this weekend my husband and I are going to the beach for the weekend, ALONE, for our anniversary, I thought...maybe I will just splurge this weekend and eat normal, like pizza and ice cream. donuts, chocolate. I was really hesitant b/c of my carb addiction. (I also have insulin resistance and PCOS) But after reading how some of you crave that sugar too, maybe I shouldn't wake the beast. I am afraid that if I have one bite, that will be it. B/c that is my pattern, start a diet, do well for 2-3 weeks and think I can go off for a day. Then that day leads to another, and another and another...Next thing you no, I am so disappointed I don't start back up and gain all the weight back PLUS. Please, someone talk me out of eating myself back to 295. I don't need to eat all the food my husband does, right? i can just eat the toppings off the pizza. I thought about making a LC cheesecake or choc. silk pie, but then the sweetness sill get me started. DO YOU THINK I AM RIGHT? OR NOT? what has been ya'lls struggles or no struggles with this? I want to lose with Bugs!! Tiffani

Christy- do you like diet soda? I find that when I am craving something sweet, I drink a diet soda while still drinking water and the craving goes away. The reason I drink water with it is to fill me up. Also, try brushing your teeth. If you really need to have something, there are a lot of recipes at this link. Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes - Home kEEP IT UP!! YOU CAN DO IT. Are you LOSING WITH BUGS, also?
kbetz- I bet the comments from the music and other teacher about how good you look is a great motivator for you!! Keep going. LOSING IT WITH BUGS BABY!! Sounds like you did real good today with not crying. But it is ok if you do. You just are a good parent and love your kids so much. God has given you a tender heart and made you a great mom. To everyone else, keep going. We can do this. Just take this day by day. We are all in this together and can be here to support each other and congratulate each other. Cry with each other and laugh with each other. It took a long time for us to get this heavy and we can't expect it to happen faster to get off. Also, Rely on God. Daily ask Him to help you do this for one more day. To get you thru the workouts (especially the squat machine!!). He is faithful to answer when we ask. Just do your part and let Him take care of the way you lose it, how fast or slow you lose it. He knows what's best for you. He knows you better than anyone. Well, I think I may have answered my dilema about going off this weekend!! ![]() |

Tifani, beware of going off. It is not just about will power to go back on. I cant remember if this is your first go at low carb. It this is your first time than I want to warn you. When you eat off plan it comes back twice as fast. Some times its just 3 pounds, but I have seen people gain 15 in a weekend. That sound impossible but this is a different world. You might say well I barley ate today so I can handll 2 pc of cake, and then the next morning you think well I am going to be running all day, so I will work of the pancakes, and then lunch hits and well its just a slice of pizza and its ia meat lovers "extra protein". Beware. It isnt always calories, its those dreaded carbs and you will crave for a while after. The other rotten thing is, what used to be mmmmm good might not be now. Pizza isnt the same for me any more.
I am so proud of you for looseing. Trust me it's not worth going off. |

thank you Kbetz. I appreciate your support. You are right.
It makes me scared to think about it. I really want to do this this time. I want to be slim again. At least not obese. I am morbidly obese right now and that is soooo not good. I haven't been under 200 since right before my daughter was born. so, about 10 years. And that was just a brief encounter of like 190. Of course I got pregnant with her as soon as I lost weight. I don't think most of the people I know now, would recognize me if I was on target. thanks again for the support!! BTW I did do LC b4, like 5 years ago. I lost 30 and kept it off for a while. matter of fact shortly after that I got pregnant with my other daughter. 4y/o. HMMM...wonder what will happen after this time? Tiffani |

Tiffani- people who have probelms getting preg have found if they lose weight it happens easier. Do you want to get preg? My husband can no longer get me pregnant and we have thought about adopting another child in the future but for now we have all I can handle. I think if we do adopt another it will be an older child. I love little ones but the older ones have a hard time finding a home. I think I have had enough babies. I have been changing diappers for 8 years. Oh the money I have spent on them. WOW.
Maybe you get preg beacuse your "life" improves. I have to say though if your family is like mine, it is hard enough to find time for sleep let alone the much of the other stuff. I keep saying they are only little for a short time. We keep saying it will get better when the kids can occupy themselves a little more. Last edited by kbetz0419 : 08-21-2007 at 08:36 PM. |

Hey, everybody: Trying to catch up with the thread, and yet the time is just flying by!
Dream: I can't imagine YOU huffing and puffing when it comes to jogging. I just can't. The thing is unfathomable! To me, walking anywhere, for any length of time, is akin to a miracle, so when I read of how many miles you walk in a clip, I'm just amazed. I notice after walking the track, both of my hip bones scream at me the rest of the night. I figure that's Mr. Arthritis hollering and I tell him, "Tuff noogies, dude. I'm fighting back!" Then I hobble off for some Advil...but I don't think I'd even manage those 20 minutes if it wasn't for doing those Water Workouts of mine since May. Every bit is another step to getting leaner, right??? Penny: Hey, lady! I'm so happy for you! Big congratulations are in order!!! Tiff: DH (to me) means dear husband. Btw, hon, I did explain a whoosh to you, sometime back, but it probably got lost in the old thread...I just don't want you to think I ignored you. Also, Rapid Fat Loss is a book by Lyle McDonald. It's also called PSMF (Protein Sparing Modified Fast). If you check the boards, you'll see reference to it (that's where the "Refeeds" idea come from). I don't do refeeds or free meals...too nervous to try them yet! I tweak in different ways (staying clean but upping carbs or fats or moving them to different ratios to each other) but not with those, not yet. Kbetz and Bug: I'd love to join you, but I have no idea if I can lose 30 lbs. in 12 weeks IF I change my LC Woe...but I'm game! Deni: Hey, lady...it's great that you can get up early and work out. You and I are in the same wt. range, babe! I'm fluctuating these past 4.5 weeks, and I can't figure out why. I HAVE to keep up with my exercises, so they are not an option. But I am slowly upping clean food amts. lately, since it's not good to keep them so low and exercise as I've been doing (the result will be the body consuming muscle instead of burning fat). So for now, I'm resolved that I will "lose" on the scale at a slower rate, but the inches should drop, muscle increase and tone, and the fat melt away. Christy, Char, Tannie, Gran, and everybody: Hope you have a great day tomorrow! I'll try to check in...

Good morning everyone!
![]() Everyone has their moments and I had mine last night. For some reason, I felt like everything was kind of tumbling around me and the pressure was horrible. My DH is driving me CRAZY! - Did I say it - CRAZY! (Maybe I should remove that D from DH and change it to another adjective LOL) I called out at my 2nd job and went home to hibernation. I told my DH not to bother me or wake me unless the house was on fire and I was in bed by 6PM - didn't wake up til 6:30 this morning! I think I'm fixing to start today/tomorrow and maybe that is what is going on. I'm off my second job tonight too so I'm planning on getting some more rest.Tiffani - I find personally when I eat something I shouldn't that's really bad 1st of all I feel guilty and then when I weigh and I'm up 2nd I feel like I failed and get off of this WOE. It's a cycle that repeats itself for me and I have seen it in the past. I know it's hard but hang in there. Cravings do past. We all fight them. I just agree with kbetz0419 that things have a tendency to snowball when you allow yourself just this 'one treat'. Divine Miss M - The more the merrier in this 12 week challenge! Everyone take care of you and hang tough! ![]()

Thanks for the support ladies. It really helps and helped. I think I will just stick to my diet soda when I get the sugar cravings.
Had a great work out this morning. I am also down another pound. That means I have lost 4 pounds with BUGS! and 31 total so far. ON MY WAY!! kbetz- how many kids did you adopt? How did you go about doing it? I would love to adopt. We have been wanting to do foster for a while now. But wasn't sure about doing it with Dept. of Human Serv. Last week we found an orphanage within an hour of us. And they have a mentoring program. It is run by a church and has been there for years. They are looking for people to take kids for the weekend. I asked them if they had any kids that didn't have any mentors yet and she told me how older boys hardly get any. and that they have 2 brothers ages 14 & 16. And they don't have any mentors and their family hardly ever calls but maybe twice a year. They are the last two of seven brothers and sisters that were there. We are praying what God wants us to do about it. Also, about having children ourselves, we have total faith in God. We have asked Him to take over that area in our lives. So if He wants us to have more, we will, if He doesn't, we won't. If it was up to me...I'd have more. But it's up to God. Bug- you are right. Thanks. I will stick with the plan. Thanks for the challenge too. We can do this!! Lets keep supporting each other and acheivce together. Divine Miss M- thanks for the info. How long will you do RFL? Have you done it b4? Well, have a busy day. I am decorating a cake for someone at church and it's a good size one. Then we are going to a local High School and seving their band diiner tonight while they are in band camp. It's a form of ministry for our youth group. Hope you all have a great day and stick with the plan. Tiffani |

Hey Ladies:
My butt is sore this morning. I couldn't get on the treadclimber right away last night at the gym, so I did the elliptical. Hard on the knees but great for the butt. I eventually made it to the treadclimber though. I love that machine. Burns more calories faster than any other. But phew! Hard sweaty work. Divine: You are doing so great with all your exercise. I don't struggle with arthritis or fibro so for you to accomplish what you do is fabulous. I can't wait until I can report that I jogged the whole track once around without stopping. I will get there. On the good side, I upped the weights on my arms to 20 lbs and was able to do more reps. (I started at 10 lbs and have been at 15 for a while.) Also, I was able to do crunches without tucking my feet between the bars on the ab bench so I am seeing progress in strength building. We have a counterweight machine. When I first started at 264 lbs, I had to have the weights set all the way to the bottom (270) before I could lift myself up. Kind of like a chin up with help. Last night I was able to do it at 170. (but I'm also 70 lbs lighter). The lighter the counterweight, the harder you have to work to pull yourself up. So now I'm going to continue to focus on strength training because I know I'm building muscle.Kbetz, Tiffani, Bugs, I can't join you on the 30 in 12 weeks, but I sure hope you keep us all posted on your progress. If I can drop 5 this next month I will be happy. Tiffani: Try not to indulge until you have upped your carbs on a regular basis. The cheat will destroy the changes in your metabolic processes that you have established so far and you will have to start from scratch. According to Dr. A it takes 4 to 7 days to get that metabolic process going again. I'm trying to get mine going again. I'ts not easy to go back to basics. Have a wonderful day everyone. |

divine and every one else. It dosent have to be 30 . I think Bug is doing 60. Just a pick a goal that is a challenge but bot impossible to you. I marked mine in my signature and we will post about it on saturday. Everyone looses difrent, join us in 12 if you would like 1 pound a week?
Bug I had a weird illness that put me in the hospital for a week about 3 years ago. I truly thought I was going to die. I vomited non stop for 7 days and had constant halasantions. They ran every test and couldnt find any thing. I remember praying that if God could stop the IV pole from attacking me that i would do what ever he wanted me to. The next day I awoke and something said to foster. My SIL had been doing it so the thought was there but I had a 2 and 5 year old of my own. Any way we did it. We got our liscence and said we would just foster. I was afraid to commit long term. We said only older kids with no medical or developmental issues. On day 2 of being on the call list we changed our minds and said what ever lands on our door. We have 1 we adopted and another one who is the bio brother to the first that we are in process with. There is some legal hold up. Shoot I am out of time i have to go to the school. I'll be back latter ladies. |

Tiffani-
Ok so back to my story. We had one placement of a 4 month old but he had family come forward. Shortly after he left we where asked to help out another foster family who was haveing a hard time with one of there foster kids. We gave them a 5 day break that was supposed to be 3. when they returned we found out that they were thinking about asking to have him moved. He was only 16 months at the time and had 3 homes. He needed more care than they could give him. He was going to be likely up for adoption in the near future. We wernt thinking about adoption at first but we couldnt stand the thought of him being bounced again. We called the agency and in about a month we had him full time. It was another 13 months before we were aloud to finalize. During that time his bio mom had another baby. Yep you guessed it, that is my one year old. Parental Rites had to be termantated and we are waiting for our part to be ready in the court system. We were told by december. Who knows. I guess my point is yes I most definatly recomend adoption. If you are able to adopt a child from a center fast than that is great, but foster is a great way to make a diffrence and maybe get to adopt. We strarted out just wanting to foster. We wanted to help familys get threw hard times. Now that I have only had 1 leave and have kept 2 , I dont know if I could foster and let them go back. So as for my weight it is dropping back down and I think I will be back at 252 by morning or may be friday. I have been so buisy all week with the kids stuff and on friday my 3y/o has his tonsils removed. SO I may not be around much this weekned. I will post my weight on saturday morning for everyone. |

every one who is doing the 12 week challenge-, If no one minds I changed my start weight to 255. I had gained some weight last weekend that I thought would leave over night and I am still hanging at 255. If its a problem ,than shoot me, better yet, shoot my scale. Dirty, rotten, lieing, scoundral ! So my goal is actually to be done to 225 instead of 222. Wow that would be awsome!
We are supposed to have high heat and humity for the next 2 days. I have some things with the kids to take care of between tommarow( thursday)threw next friday. Here is my plan. I have to get serious! I need to exercise every day. I want to atleast walk everyday but the heat makes my boys gastric reflux flare up and they end up vomiting all day. I think if I set a goal of sept 1 to walk to the school everyday than it should be a good start. I will try and get it in atleast 4 times before then. The way the school does things with the kindergarteners, is they have to park the van and come up to the door and pick them up. This was going to be a issue to have to get both the little boys out of the van and than walk them up. I am going to just push a stroller from my house. It will be just a hair under 2 miles round trip, and I wont have to mess with car seats. I did it alot last year. The older 2 kids will benifit from the 1 mile walk home. I remember being a kid and not being able to do the mile run and being embarrased. I dont want my kids to go threw that. I think I may even track the number of miles I walk each week. |
