Catz: My husband is the same way, with me one week and drinking coke and eating pizza the next! The thing that drives me crazy is that it is sooo easy for them to lose weight. We did Weight Watchers in June the first week I lost 3 lbs and he lost 10

Bp: I went 8 days at the same weight and cut out stuff that I thought could have caused it. For 3 days I ate very strict (eggs, salad, lean protein), I cut out bacon, diet drinks, processed meats etc. and drank a ton of water.

On the 3rd morning I dropped over 2lbs and haven't really stalled since. If I feel like I am stalling I eat really strict and only what my body needs, (not what I WANT) and that seems to help. GOOD LUCK!

Thanks for making the new thread Christy.

Jamie: I'm the slowest loser on the planet, but my suggestion is change it up a bit. We tend to get into a routine of eating the same things. Then our body gets used to it and adjusts. Also, Jennifer's suggestion to "eat clean" for a while is a good one. When I really get stuck, I go back to induction for a few days and that always seems to help me. My problem is I have no will power to go back to induction very often and eat fruit, well berries and when not in season, apples. Cantelope is good on LC too. Water melon, limit. It tends to be high in carbs, although I have eaten it on occasion.

I walked 6 miles again yesterday. Pretty routine for Saturday and Sunday. I have today and tomorrow off, so I hope to hit the gym. I'm sitll holding at 190. Can't seem to get to 189.9. I'm about .4 away. Sheesh.

Christy and Lisa: My family and I have talked about lap band surgery, but not gastric bypass. Lap band is less evasive and just as effective. I sure wish I could have had it. But my insurance wouldn't pay for it either. So diet and exercise it is. I was lucky enough to be accepted into the study, so I do have a crutch so to speak. Just wish it would help me get out of the 190's!

Jennifer: I have always wanted to have my bushy brows done. I just haven't had the guts to do it. I know it would generate a lot of comments, good or bad, I don't know.

Christy, I'm going to try making flax muffins. We are also lucky enough to live close to Bob's Red Mill. They make LC flour, so I'm going to make a trip there today to pick some up. Silly, I've never been there before.

Hope to get a post from everyone else. Aggie, haven't heard from you in a while. Where are ya!

Hey ya'll!

I'm late in the coming but I'm willing to give it a try to see what I can do by 12/31/2007.

My stats as of today are near my picture. I just got my treadmill installed last Wednesday so I've been slowly trying to get back into the swing of things in walking. Did a mile this morning. Will try to walk again tonight if I don't get home too late.

Thanks ya'll for the support!

We belonged to a gym but I never could find the time to go. I'm currently working two jobs. My first job is 8AM-5PM and my second job is 5:30PM-usually midnight but sometimes longer. This is usually Monday thru Friday.

So, buying a treadmill kind of benefited me a little better. This way I can roll out of the bed onto the treadmill in the AM and hit it before bed. So far, so good.

Ok gals- I am back and just got caught up with the rest of last week's posts. Sounds like everyone is doing pretty well. I am back up to 199 after a free 3 day weekend. It was kind of like a mini vacation for us, so I wasn't very careful about what I ate. I did not over eat, just not all lc and I did have a sliver of cake at the wedding. I am going back to K/E for the rest of the month and I hope I can get into the 180's by the time school starts. According to fitday, I need to loose about 2.5 lbs a week to get to my final goal. I definitely think it is do-able. Meeting more of Dave's family was great and at the wedding guess who caught the boquet? YEP! it was me! with my left hand even- it just sailed right to me... must be a sign, I have always tried, but have never been successful (even my at bestf riend['s wedding when she tried to "help" me out by sending it my way). Dave found it amusing how pleased I was to catch it... anyway, off to run errands, drink some water, get some work done, and go to a training this afternoon- busy day for me! I'll check back later-

Wow, Bug you work a lot. I work 8 to 5 so a trip to the gym after work is good for me. I just have to make myself go. My best bet is to stop on my way home from work. Then I don't get tied down by activities at home.

Christy: I admit, the first time I used it I felt afterward too. Flax meal does fill you up quite a bit. It's extremly high in fiber, which we aren't quite used to on the LC woe. It does add a great flavor though and kept me full for a loooong time.

christy- my DH is the same way. I stood at my inlaws yesterday next to my husband. I am down about 25 and he has lost 15. Do you think any one said a word to me Nope, but then again he only weighs185 now every one oeed and awded over him.
I did see my brother last night and I needed some one to notice, so I looked at him and said came give your shrinking sister a hug. I hadnt seen him since I was 280. He took a dubble take, I hadnt told him over the phone. He was proud of me and said he has gained 20. He now weighs 220. I know this is awful but it felt so good to be that close to any one of my family members in terms of weight. I have always been the freek. I hought to myself once I get below 220 than he can loose some. ( I know that is awfull)

BUG_ welcome , this is a fun group.

Jennay and dream -Sending a big hello you way.

Every one- I discovered a great treat. I used to have a spoon of 3 carb PB for a treat. Well now I buy a tub of cream cheese and add a single serving envelope of cherry crytal light. IIt has better stats to. It mixes up nice and its like haveing a spoon full of iceing to lick on.mmmmmmmmmm

I read a post today and it talked about avoiding the scale, etc and how it can play games with your mind , like some psycolgical, physical stuff it has me thinking. I posted this on the thread but I wanted to share my thoughts with you gals so I coppied it.
I just needed to share my thoughts,

Thanks for posting this. I had a similar idea in the back of my head, but with a slight twist. I have been looseing much slower this time. I told my self that I know it might take me looseing only a pound a week or even less , but I am sure that I will eventually get there. I also know that I can not return to 280. I fear getting sick and not being there for my family. What I am thinking about doing is takeing todays weight and have my DH measure me. I will do the same thing for him. We can put them in an envelope and seal them shut. I am going to have to take it to my dads with the scale. I figure at the very least if we work out like crazy and continue to eat acording to plan we should see some loss, and my emotions can give it rest. I have no idea of my measurements rite now so I wont be able to cheat and sneek a peek. For some reason I have started associating any increase on the scale as bad. I know down deep that muscles retain water, but rite now a gain is a gain and it is destroying my self estem.
I need to do this for my sanity. If I dont have the scale to see how the tempting peice of whatever will effect me than maybe I wont bother if I can just say Yes I know it will effect me so dont bother. I have been doing this for almost 3 months this time and I know what I can and cant have.

Ok so there was my post I know the scale keeps us acountable but I feal as if all this takeing over my life. Food use to be the center of my life, ( not that I want that center back) now weight loss is. It is all I think about. What I can I do diffrently, why didnt that work, did I do to much, or not enough. I just want to eat healthy( LC atkins 30 or less, exercice because its good for me and spend time with my family. I have to admit something, I have a chart that I have projected weight loss golas on. Last month I didnt hit my 250 goal by july15, I was devestated, really mad at my self!. So I eventually pulled my boot starps a little tighter and said ok Move it to aug15 and crank things up a bit. It will soon be aug 15 and I am only at 255. This is nuts. I am letting the calander decide if I am a winner or a looser. Guess what, the fact that I have not shot back up to 280 in the last 2 and a half months says I am a winner and guess what I have lost, so I am a loser!.

I am wondering if I am the only person who is this absorbed into losing weight?

Jennay congratulation on catching the boquet....

And being only 5 lbs up for a 3 day off is not bad... you will drop it quick as soon as you get back on plan.... alot of it is more then likely water weight....

dream we can do this even with out the lap band or the gastric bypass.... its funny yesterday me and Dh ran into someone we haven't seen in about 3 years, she had the bypass done 3 years ago and we could hardly reconize her.... her face had the bulldog look... YOu know what I am talking about.... Dh said he was glad I could have the surgery done.... he said he did'nt like the way she had change..... she didn't even look the same.....

I told him, I wasn't losing weight just to be losing weight... but to improve my heath...... I would be happy to get down to about 175.... I don't have to be skinny just want to be able to move around better....

Mycataz, well said.
My husband the other day was relaying a story from work about how some of his young employess were saying how they hate fat people and how they are all....... At first I was proud of him, then I felt a bit betrayed. When he herd the "new" girls saying that stuff, he chimed in and said " hey I dont want to here that talk. They looked at him and said why, your not fat. ( up untill last month he carried all his weight in his neck and belly. Now most of it is gone.) He said" ya well I use to be. They told him how any one who is fat is just lazy and smelly and a whole bunch of other things that I wont repeat. He proudly told me that he corrected them and said "they dont all smell". I have to remeber that A. I am dealing with a man and B. its my husband who I alreday know doesnt have the best people skills. I wanted to cry as I sat there thinking ," oh so I dont smell but you think I'm lazy?" My life is anything but lazy. Later on when he wanted to ****, he walked up behind me and said mmm you smell good, I said ya I just had shower, but I'm feeling lazy and walked away. He didnt get it and I let it go.
Ok now today, I'm laughing at him, but not with him.

mycataz- if you dont mind me asking how long have you been married?

It will be 7 years in November for us. I am smaller now by about 2 pounds, than when we married. He said he always liked bigger women, but now i am starting to think he just felt more confidnet with them. Oh well, we love each other any way. We are at a point where we feel we will be together to the end. Part of this is because we have 4 children and we couldnt do it alone, but the other part is that we know each other drives the other nuts at times , we still know it could be worse. I know that most guys are not perfect and he knows most gals nag. If those are the biggest issues we have than I think we are doing ok. LOL. I also figure that since he married me when I was over weight he must really love me for who I am on the inside. I just cant wait for the day that he loves me for the outside just as much. It didnt use to be an issue but the last 6 months or so it has been. I feal bad sometimes because he has lost some weight and is building some muscle. He wants to show it off to the world and wants me to oggle and aww over him. I try and make a BIG deal but I feel like we are beyond the impress me stage. Dont get me wrong, I like the new look but I loved him before just as much. If he wants to impress me all he needs to do is wear a nice shirt and a pair of jeans, while planing something fun for us todo together. Something weird is going on, he is just acting like a 20 year old again. ( hes 42)

Kbetz: You do know that men really are from Mars, right? I don't think your dh meant any offense...he thought he was on the defense against prejudice, y'know? He was probably referring to himself when he said that bit about "not all of them smell" and either overlooked the "lazy" remark or was trying to be smooth about it. (Where the heck do people come up with such nonsense that overweight people "smell," anyway? I always smell very nice...but I've noticed loads of thin people who have a body odor that suggests they haven't bothered with soap or water for days. I mean, c'mon...it's about personal hygenie, not wt. As Bill Cosby once said: "A person is smart, but people are stupid." And those people WERE stupid!)

Anyway, I just wanted to say that I do understand a thing or two about men - in that I understand HOW they act, but not WHY (I have one dh and four living sons to my credit, so I'm entitled to make the comments I do!!!) At the most critical of times, words just don't come out of their mouths the right way. (But there are times when they do us proud!) Still, it's always incredible to me that men are supposed to be such great leaders when they can't get their brains in gear before engaging the mouth. (Ok, that's a generalization and I know it!)

Hey, about that scale...I'm on the opposite end of the psychological spectrum. Right now, I have to check it as I discover what works and what doesn't. I used to avoid the scale and then get downright discouraged when I didn't see the weekly or monthly wt. loss for which I was aiming. Now I've turned my obsession with the scale into a positive...just by becoming a Low Carb Super Sleuth. (Gosh, I even think it's crazy, sometimes!) But if this year (or early 2008) is gonna be the year I hit goal, I'll do what I hafta. Know what I mean, jellybean?

Jennay: So...does this mean you are hoping to get married? (ARE YOU NUTS?) Kidding...jut kidding!

Chris, Dream, Mycattaz, and all the girls: Hello...hello, hello. Hugs to everybody!

Dream, thanks for worrying about me!

I've been trying to at least read most of your posts, but I've had so much drama and negativity going on here that I haven't bothered to post myself. I won't bother y'all with all the details. I haven't cheated at all, but I'm up a couple of pounds. Not sure whether it's the water workout or the stairs or just too many legal foods, but I've been pissed, so I thought it was just best to stay away from everyone for a while. I think the only thing that's kept me on plan is the fact that I'm enjoying my clothes fitting loosely for a change! Once my life returns to normal (hopefully within the next couple of days), I'll try to post more. Until then, everyone keep up the good work!

Devine- as allways I love to hear your input. I always feel like your a sister giveing advice. I know everyone is greatfull for you. Yes, you are rite DH ment well, but you know what, I never thought about him defending himself. Opps, guess who is being self obsorbed?
PS I hope you didnt think I thought people who weighed everyday were obsessive? I think if it keeps you acountable and you can handel thats great. I am just at a point where I would rather see a 2 pound drop in a week instead of a quarter pound a day. It was controling me my mood every day.

BPgurl- good luck on the scale , I bet you dropped

Penny- hang in there, and if you want to vent I am more than willing to listen and agree with anything you need me to. Sometimes it helps. I went to a friends house tonight and we sat out side and just vented about Hubbys, kids and back to school jitters. Stay strong everything will turn around soon. We are here if you need us.

Kbetz: Aw, thanks, hon! And...Gee whiz, no way did I think you meant people who weigh every day are obsessive! I was only explaining why I'm obsessive about the scale!
