Hello ladies:

I'm so messed up. Up 1.6 lbs this am. I'm beginning to think its hormones because I only have TOM's about three times a year, but I still, once a month, get the bloating, etc. anyway regardless of the other symptoms. And it must be that time.

Lisa: THANK YOU! for the refresher Atkins info. After reading, I haven't been true to induction. Well things are going to change. I was good yesterday, but had eaten a LC yogert prior to reading your post. No more!!! At least for a couple of weeks anyway.

Christy: I'm going to ask to be your friend on your myspace. So when you get an odd friend request from a long haired lady in glasses in a pink sweater, its me! Anyone else have a myspace besides me and Jamie?

Jamie: Good for you! I'm so glad you dropped another. Dang. I woke up so frustrated this morning not having lost after being relatively true yesterday. Some day my whoosh will come!

Kbetz: Wow, what a story about your mom. I'm sorry things haven't worked out. I too have difficulty with mine. I have three siblings, but I seem to be the only one willing to provide care for her. She lives about 3 miles from me, so it isn't far. I take her to church every sunday and anywhere else she may need to go or want to go. She does have help from the church for transportation to dr appts. And she and a neighbor go to get their hair done once a week. Working full time, I cant take off every other day to get her there and she has soooo many dr appts. My SIL does help too because she's a nurse and her hours vary. But it does get old. I wish my bro and other sis would step in once in a while, but NO. My nephew is moving out of her house and then I'm afraid I will have to stop by her place a minimum of 4 times a week, do her shopping, some cooking, laundry, etc. But there's no way I would let her move into our place. I would go absolutely bonkers. I do love her though and fortunately she always has a happy disposition and a good attitude about life. She really just needs the help.

Hey Divine: Does a stall count losing the same 2 lbs over and over and over again? Oh well, we can't give up. I'm determined. I realize it won't happen overnight, but is at least 5 lbs a month too much to ask?

bug- hang in there. Life can be stressful but just take it one thing, and one day at a time. You already know what you have to do tomarow.... but try and focuss on geting threw one day at a time. I do the same thing.

Dream come true- I am hopeing you already know this with your SIL being a nurse, but there are programs to help the elderly. If she is on medicare or medicaid she may be able to get them for free. Every state calls there programs something diffrent, but some of ours are called Passport and waiver, and area help for the ageing. ( I used to be a State tested Nurse aid and I worked in nursing homes and did home health care). Alot of my clients used these programs. There is also programs with the utility companys like electric and gas. We call it HEAP and PIPP. Ameritech/ AT& T have a program for a subsidized phone bill with unlimited use. It's like $ 7.00 a month. I know your issues were more about finding time for you to help, but this might be of help. Look in the phone book under aging or community action programs. If all else falls call, united way and tell them you are looking for a referal for an agency.
I just realized that you were not really looking for outside help. Oh well if this dosent help you maybe it will some one else.

PS she dosnt have to be sick to get help. I used to just do house cleaning, shopping and kepp people company. Some needed full care and some didn't.

I have to tell you about this homemade icecream I just made..... Kbetz this would be fun for the kids to make, just called my dd and gave her the recipe.....

the simple version is

1/2 cup Milk ( heavy cream if you are doing lowcarb)
1 tbsp sugar ( two pack splenda if you are doing lowcarb)
1 tsp vanilla

YOu put all this into a sandwich bag, shake it to mix it.... then you get a large gallon bag and fill it 1/2 way with ice and put 6 tbsp of salt or rock salt in it... put the sandwich bag inside and close.... then just shake it back and forth for about 5 minutes.... up to 10 minutes... Mine made in about 5 minutes.... it was creamy just like homemade and had a wonderful taste to it.... YOu can also add other favor to it... like french vanilla, chocolate, strawberry , banana, lemon... just to name a few....

I still can't believe i made icecream so quick and less then 3 carbs

oh here is another one, haven't tried it yet...

Here is another one, with whipping cream and more directions... Again, Splenda replaces the sugar.

You will need:

1 cup heavy whipping cream
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups ice cubes (about two large handsful)
6 tablespoons rock salt
1 Ziploc brand sandwich bag, or other sandwich-size plastic sealable bag
1 Ziploc brand freezer bag (quart-sized), or other large, plastic sealable freezer bag
1 pair of oven mitts
1 dishtowel
1 spoon

Step one: Pour the cream into the sandwich-sized bag.

Step two: Add sugar and vanilla extract to the same bag.

Step three: Seal the bag. (Make sure it's tightly closed, otherwise your ingredients will leak.)

Step four: Place the closed sandwich bag inside the freezer bag.

Step five: Pour the ice into the freezer bag.

Step six: Pour the rock salt into the freezer bag.

Step seven: Seal the freezer bag. Tightly, please!

Step eight: Put on your oven mitts; or wrap the dishtowel loosely around the freezer bag.

Step nine: Shake, rock, roll, and squeeze the bag for a full 5 minutes. (Note: the bag is going to get very cold, between 18-20 degrees F. The mitts or dishtowel will keep your hands from freezing.)

Step ten: Open the freezer bag and remove the sandwich bag. Using the dish towel, quickly wipe away any rock salt and water from the outside of the sandwich bag. (The ice will have almost completely melted, so the outside of your sandwich bag will be wet.) This will keep the salt and water out of your sandwich bag - - and your ice cream! -- when you open it.

Step eleven: Open the sandwich bag and . . . enjoy! You may eat the ice cream right out of the bag, or spoon it into a bowl. To remove every last delicious bit of the ice cream, turn the bag inside out and scrape the sides with your spoon.

Well my oldest 2 kids just went to a end of summer sleep over at a friends house down the road. My best friend is hosting it. She has a 7(boy),5(girl), and 3(girl) year old. I sent my 8(boy) and 5(girl) year old over and one of the biys other friend will be there. I started thinking on the way there and I dont think we will be doing this again. She likes to let each of her kids have a friend over but I think if we dont stop it soon they will want to latter do it. Another 4-5 years and this could be a night mare. She has them sleeping on seperate floors and her husband will be home at midnight to help. My kids no the rules no touching. They are like causins to her kids, but still. I am almost afraid to ask but what do you guys think about this? I know alot of familys let each kid have a friend over, but they are all best friends together and close in age. We dont have the traditonal eww you have quddies in our bunch they all get along!.

kbetz- I remember doing sleep over from a very early age.... I was the only girl out of 4 that my mom had.... My mom would always let us invite over friends.... we had alot of cousins around... but, its one of my fondest memories of sleeping over at someone elses house.... the only question would be do you trust the parent of the other child to watch them, if you know they are good parents I don't see any reason for them not to stay over....

mycataz. Oh, I most certanly trust her. I have only known her for 2 years but I am closer to her than any friend or family memeber She is my best friend. I just know that kids are kids. I did ask her tonight where every one would be sleeping? I told her that we really need to start keeping an eye out. The kids are to you to be thinking about any kind of intercourse but they arnt to you to be takeing a peek. I just dont want any thing to come between there freindships. They will be ok. I have to give her credit for haveing the strength to do it. I have had her 3 with my 4 twice this month for a 6 hour day each. I was tired and my ears hurt from hearing my name called so much. We usually do play dates together. Maybe she has the rite idea. They didnt go untill 8 pm and will leave at 10 am. They will sleep most of the time. Hmmm, I get it. that is easier. LOL

By the way, where is every one today?

Hello!

Howdy!! I would love to be a part of this challenge. I doubt I can lose 100 by the end of the year, but possibly 50!

I just started LCing on July 27th. I also started curves that day (again). I have been dieting of and on for years. I am so ready to be in ONEderland!! haven't been that way in ten years. Now I am morbidly obese.

I have four kids (b14, g10, g4, & b2) and an incredible husband.

I have lost 23 lbs. since the 27th!! Lost real fast at first and now I am losing slowly and steadily.

You all seem to be doing great and are real supportive of each other. Congratulations!!

Tiffani

Has any one noticed that as they are losing weight they cant sleep. I used to eat a big bowl of what ever and I was out cold by 9 pm on the sofa. Now it seems like I cant even get to sleep before 2 AM and I am back up at 7 am. I dont feal tired . I am just really bored at night. The house starts closeing down at 8 pm and every one is asleep by11 at the latest. Not me! I want to be lazy again, but I cant. I never thought I would ever miss that.

Tifanni!

everyone. Feeling much better this morning. Walked 1.25 miles on the treadmill today. Feeling great from that! Finally I think I'm getting down a routine. M/Tu/Th and Fri walk treatmill in the AM. Wed/Sat/Sun walk in the afternoon. I will try to walk a little something everyday.

I am determined to have at least 30 pounds off in the next twelve weeks if not more. I would love to be like bpgurl and loose 60 pounds in one season! BPGURl - you may be my new inspiration!

Everyone take care and pass the swoosh fairy to me. My officially weigh in will be tomorrow and I will post it on Monday. Have a fabulous weekend ladies!

Just a quick post.

Welcome Tiffani. You will love it here. Most of us won't loss 100 in 2007 but we are still havin fun trying.

Lisa, I made the ice cream last night. It really works! I think it would be an awesome class project or group thing or something. It was so fun, my son did it and used DaVinci's Toasted Marshmallow flavor in it. OMGosh, so good.

No losses to report, but what else is new when it comes to me. Ugh! I wish the scale would budge.

Kbetz: Whenever I lose weight, I can't sleep. At first I had high thyroid, but even now, when the weight is dropping off, I have a terrible time sleeping. What gives with that?

Til later.

Good morning! Thanks for the warm welcome.

I lost 2 more!! Down 25 and feeling great. I have been at a stand still, waiting for my cycle to start and waiting and waiting. (is this a normal thing when starting low carb?) I feel all the retention and bloating so hopefully it will come and go and take 5 pounds with it!! But it was so good to see a little dip again.

I guess I should figure out some mini goals too. Do you guys find that it is easier to achieve weight loss with mini goals attached?

I do want to lose 5 more pounds by next Friday. My husband and I are going to the beach for the weekend for our anniversary!! It helps that we have a free weekend at the Hilton!! I was planning on splurging that weekend with some old habits, but I am not sure that is a good idea. I have lost the cravings for all those sweets. What do you think? Please talk me out of it. (except for a piece of cheesecake which isn't all that bad!!)

It is so inspiring to see all your progress. I know i can do this, especially with prayer and God's strength. Thank you God for the extra hugs!!

Hope you all have a great and satisfying day!!

Hey gals- quick post today, I am waaaay under the weather! I don't know if my body is just trying to get prepared for being back in the "germ factory" (school) or what but I came down with the flu yesterday! stuffy head, sore throat, nausea... the whole nine yards. I got caught up on posts (Welcome whitehouse!) I am going to try to rest it up today, down a bunch of cold medicine and hope that it goes away quickly- see you later (maybe) or tomorrow!

I told him and he said you and your crazy idea's.... so while he was napping I tried it out and was like WOW it works.... As soon as he got up I made him the regular version.... He loved it.... No so crazy after all...lol
