Seriously week five might kill me!!!

My DF sister does the Death Valley race. She is always travelling to participate in marathons. I have to laugh because she is always complaining she has no bum. I wish. She is hard core.

I'm sorry about the weather. Hopefully it ends soon.

Supper yesterday I had curried prawns.

Guess what I had for lunch today? You'll never guess! lol
Egg salad in a nori wrap.

I'm at 55 days of no cheats. Meaning no sugar, flour, etc and no frankenfoods.

I'm going to weigh myself on the 61st day to see how much in total I have lost. I'm hoping that the nori wraps don't slow me down. But from what I have read the seaweed can improve my thyroid. Not that there is anything wrong with it but if it can speed up my metabolism that would be great.

I was browsing the appetizer thread I am came across an old post of Parkers and it is: take a smoked oyster, wrap in bacon and fry. I so can't wait to try this. It sounds divine!

Have a great day.

Hey Ladies,

I'm over at my mom's. DBF got internet working on Thursday but I had already left for my cousin's wedding in East Texas. I haven't been good this weekend. I think I had some stress build up. So I took the long weekend of my cousin's wedding and my birthday as a cheat fest.

So it's back to induction for me.

I'm going to go back and catch up on everything.

Ok. I'm really not trying to be a drama queen here....but I must have some kinda of field around me that makes things break. I went home and it's 90 degrees and the air is not cooling. Have an AC friend coming tomorrow but it was so hot and I wasn't brave enough to stay tonight with windows open.

Jen, nice to see you. Sorry about the AC. Drink your water and good luck on restarting induction. I hope you had a great time at the wedding.

Jennifer, awesome for you on losing another pound. You are doing so well.

Yesterday I had the left over curry and for supper I had nori rolls with tuna, cucumber and avocado. I have had it now in soup, with tuna, crab, salmon but my favourite is egg salad. It just goes so well together. Not typical Japanese but it works.

Ugh, speaking of working, originally DF was to have one day off but they changed it and now he gets NO days off. They have to shoot all the scenes and he is so busy. Just a few minutes ago another movie called and wants him to work. Geez I hope he gets some time off because we are to take back DSS. At this rate me might have to send him on a plane by himself. We have done it before but we were hoping we were going to get to visit our respective families.

Jen - Glad you got your internet fixed. Sorry about your a/c. Hope that's fixed too! I can't believe it's 'only' low 90s today. Cold snap

Linda - No offense to DF's sister, but is she crazy??? I'd love to be fit enough to run 100 miles in Death Valley though. Hope you're able to take DSS back home and see your families. Does DF tell you all the gossip from the sets?

Jennifer, yup DF does tell me some of the gossip that goes on. Although not much usually happens "on set". It's pretty tense, making sure all the scenes are shot correctly. So it's mostly like any other job except it deals in high profile people. Although some of the things he has told me I could not repeat.

I'm just waiting until he shoots a movie with Mr. Depp. Then I will be at the set everyday!

It is bizarre though how some B-List actors act like they are supreme beings and the A-listers are usually very nice.

So today is my 60th day on plan. I am going to weigh myself tomorrow morning to get a total. I hope I am down from the last weigh in. But it is that time of the month so I am retaining water. Agrh!

Food:
1/2 can of tuna, mayo, cilantro, nori wrap and cucumber.

Supper I am clueless but I tell ya, I so am not in the mood for cooking. DF bought me a wardrobe yesterday and I have spent most of the day organizing the bedroom. Now I deserve a nap!!

I will definitely be coming up to BC & joining you!

Is your new wardrobe a wardrobe as in a piece of furniture or new clothes? Either one sounds great to me!

Congrats on 60 days cheat free!!!! Hope the scale cooperates.

Good Evening Ladies,

Okay, I'm home. I'm rested, I have internet service and I have AC. Life is good again.

It's been a world wind two weeks. First all the overtime at work, no internet @ home, then DBF was home, my cousins wedding, and then coming home and it's cooler outside then when in my house. If I didn't I would be like these

The wedding was beautiful. And the groom's chocolate cake was delicious. It was held in a winery in McKinney, TX (outside of Dallas). We went out dancing in Ft Worth afterwards. We went to this place call 8-0 and we literally dance for an hour straight. We didn't even come off the dance floor for drinks.

I love your pictures Jennifer. You are really showing progress.

Linda, I'm an Admin Assistant. Most of the time I just feel like a Kindergarten teacher. I support 21 people.

Menu:
B - Meat Scramble with Sausage,Onions, Cheese
L - Beef Fajita Taco Salad
S - Small bag of peanuts.
D - Sausage, Onions and Cheese

Cheat Free Day - 2

Exercises:
8/18/07 - Dancing (1 hr.) - And yes we really did dance our booty off.
8/20/07 - Elliptical (35 mins)
8/21/07 - 2.5 Miles (running and walking) W4D1
8/22/07 - Rest

I hope all is well with ya'll. Talk to ya'll tomorrow.

Well today was my personal weigh in and in the last 60 days I have lost exactly 30lbs. Not the best but not bad either. But from the exercise I am losing inches, which is great. Pants that I could not get up are now fitting comfortably.

Jennifer, it was furniture. So I cleaned out my closet and all drawers to organize our clothing. It's so nice to be able to see all the clothing without it being all squished together.

But one thing I did that was really stupid. I have lots and lots of "skinny" clothes that I store in big suitcases. Well to make even more room I decided to put the suitcases up in the closet. While hoisting the cases I pulled a muscle or something in the front of my shoulder. It hurts like $#%! It hurt to answer the phone this morning. I hope it heals quickly.

Jen, it's nice to hear from you. The wedding sounds great. Wohoo for the dancing!

Well I actually ate at 11:00am. Weird for me but I was hungry. So I ate supper and will eat lighter later.

Hey Ladies.

I think I'm back in Ketosis.

Linda, on the thirty pounds. Hope your shoulder is ok. I had a really bad Charlie Horse last night in my sleep and my calf has been sore all day.

It's been a weird day today. We had the big wigs from Dallas in today and everybody was on edge.

Menu (8/23/07)
B - Protein Shake
L - Beef Brisket and small salad
S - Nuts
D - Sausage, Onions and Cheese (left overs)

W - 64 oz.
Cheat Free - 3 days

Ellipitcal - 35 minutes

Happy Saturday everyone!

I'm doing laundry and cleaning house. I'm going to get my toes and nails done later today.

Yesterday, I came home and fell asleep on the couch. I didn't even wake up when DBF called last night. I'm a light sleeper so I must have been knock out.

Menu (8/24/07)
B - nothing
L - Chicken Breast and Salad
S - peanuts
D - nothing (sleep through it.)

No exercises (will have to do double this weekend)
Water - 64 oz.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Jennifer - I swear I wasn't on last night. Although I think I was still logon from the night before so maybe I was. you know with the way I'm breaking things this week, I just didn't want you to think it was me. LOL.....

Hi Ladies,

Just a quick drive by to let you know I'm still sticking to it. I was reading about refeeds and I don't get it. Atkins says it's the kiss of death but tonnes of posters are swearing by "free meals". Ack my whole life has been "free meals"! What are your thoughts on this?

LCC, how long did it take you to lose from your time off plan? Or did you even gain?

Hey Linda,
I spiked up to 223 again but was back down to 218 this morning. So I guess that was 5 days. I was very bad about my water until Thursday. I got a killer charlie horse Wednesday night that left my calf very sore on Thursday. So I've been drowning myself in water. But it was also TOM week. So it was really hard for me to tell how many pounds were from "cheat" weekend and what was just PMS.

Does that make any sense.

Jennifer - Are you signing up for the Race for the Cure?

LCC thanks for your reply. I think I'm going to stay away from the "refeeding" thread as it conjures up demons for me.

Yesterday was especially tough for me. We held a belated B-day party for DSS. I made cupcakes in icecream cones, they were a hit, and some pinswheels (also a hit). Plus others brought major goodies. I so badly wanted some forbidden food.

I held off and went shopping with the idea of getting myself a major treat. I was thinking lowcarb cheesecake or brie and pate etc but opted for a big juicy steak and mushrooms. So crisis averted. Sometimes is just so damn hard.

So tomorrow we leave on our trip and I am stumped as to what to take for munchies. The guys are all set. I have bought all sorts of goodies. Some healthy choices some not.

LCC I'm glad you are back in ketosis!

Jen, how are you doing?

Hope your both having a great weekend!

Hi!

Sorry I've been scarce - the in-laws were in town this weekend. Didn't eat anything off plan but have not been rewarded by the scale. I've been starving today & eating all day long. Not many calories, but tons of carbs.

Gotta go. Will post more later tonight or tomorrow

Think Two Steps Ahead-Find the BIG Picture
By Joe Downie, Certified Physical Fitness Instructor
The house is a mess, the kids need a ride somewhere, you haven’t sat down in hours, and you have 10 minutes to eat something.

It’s 1 p.m., you’ve been working non-stop to finish a project because your boss is breathing down your neck, and it’s time for a quick, 20-minute lunch before getting back to the grind.

We often face situations similar to these two. Normally, we choose to think one step ahead. “I am tired, hungry and stressed out. I need to eat something quick. I don’t care what it is!” Unfortunately, those decisions come back to haunt us in the future, only adding to the stress already in our lives.

After a long day with the kids, doing laundry, reading books, and working on night school homework, you might have to decide between exercise and a couch that is screaming your name. Another difficult decision we face on a regular basis, and once again we often choose to think one step ahead. “I need to rest – I’m so drained!”

The difference between one step ahead and two steps ahead can mean the difference between staying on the fitness roller coaster or achieving your goals. Two steps ahead, we are still tired, stressed and cranky, BUT also determined, committed and able to see the big picture.

What is the BIG PICTURE? It’s different for everyone. Having a few thoughts that motivate and inspire you will help fight through step one and see that vision. Here are a few:
· “My self-confidence is going to be so much higher because I’ve struggled through a difficult situation and found a way to conquer it!”
· “I’ve had to find a way to deal with things during a very stressful time in my life. I can’t wait to see what I can do without all the stress!”
· “I’m going to be able to keep up with my kids and be a part of their lives for a long time!”
· “Why shouldn’t my health be the most important thing in my life – it doesn’t make me selfish, just smart!”
· “If there is one thing I have complete control over, it’s my health. I am going to do whatever it takes to figure out a way because I have pride in who I am!”
"Step Two" reminds us how important consistency is in reaching our goals and helps us envision that beautiful feeling you get when you work hard to achieve something.

Start practicing now.

Step One - “Oh, what a great idea. I should try that sometime, but I really have to go clean my oven.”

Step Two – “What a great idea. I’m going to come up with three things that will motivate and inspire me each time I have to choose between a healthy and unhealthy decision, and I’m going to write them down so I see them on a regular basis! Now, I’m going to go clean my oven!”

Sorry, it is so late. I can't sleep. It looks like the roommate is going to be moving out. It would have been nice if she had the guts to tell me but I came home tonight and saw some of her stuff packed up. I guess it for the best. At least I'll have my house back but I do feel very used.

Linda - I haven't read the re-feed thread. But one thing I notice about my free weekend is that as long as I was busy (ie making myself crazy for the wedding) I watch my portion sizes. But once it was all over and I was driving home it was so harder. The more fast food restaurants I saw the more I could think up to eat. LOL Top it with being my birthday and all the different cakes I had.

Good job on the cupcakes and pinwheels.

Anyway, I back in control.

Jen - I haven't registered yet. In years past I worked a couple of Saturday's folding the t-shirts and assembling the bags. The last 2 years I think they did all that in Dallas. My company just announced they are a big sponsor this year. I'm thinking about running with my corp team but I'm not sure how competitive they are. I'm not very fast.

Menu (8/27/07) (My little brother's 25th birthday)
B - Chocolate Hood Calorie Countdown Milk (about 12 ozs)
L - Hamburger Patty with tomatoes
S - nuts
D - pudding and nuts (After working out I wasn't hungry)

Water - 32 ozs.
Workout - 2.5 miles - Run and Walk

When was your b-day Jen? Belated

I'm sorry you're feeling used about the roommate situation & that she hasn't even told you she's moving out. Hope this is a good change for you.

We'll have to try to meet up at the race. If you don't join your company's team we can do it together if you want. But I'm very slow & plan to walk, not run, so I wouldn't want to hold you up.

Yesterday:
B - coffee
L - chicken breast, grilled vegs
S - hb egg
D - taco salad meat, salad

Hi!

Where are y'all????

Last night I let my frustration over the scale not moving get to me & had a little binge. All low-carb, but I was really hoping that the binge monster had been put to rest permanently. Now I feel bloated & I've decided to give myself a few days break. No eating anything off plan, but no weighing, measuring or fitday. I can feel myself getting obsessed & frustrated & that's a recipe for disaster for me. BTDT

Hope you two are doing well.

Hey Ladies

Sorry I didn't post yesterday. It's been a stressful week. I think I finally have the roommate out of my hair. But it did come with it's share of drama. So if you want the scoop, grab your favorite snack and click on here.

http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/be...le-lessen.html

Anyway. I was 217 this morning. So I made my 10% goal.

Haven't eaten anything tonight because of the stress.

Jennifer - Sorry you have trouble with snacks yesterday. At least they were low carb. I have notice that if I do this every once in awhile (like maybe every two weeks) it gives you a kick start. So you will have to tell us if it gives you a boost.

I'll be out of town this weekend. Well if I can get the insurance reinstated. And I do plan on having a few adult beverages while setting on my inner tube in the lazy river at my hotel. That's if it doesn't rain.

Hi!

Staying off the scale lasted all of one day. My little binge didn't help -I'm still the same. Guess I should count my blessings that I'm not higher. Now I'm imagining that I'm stalled forever & will have to go on Weight Watchers or something. Today I = drama queen

Congrats on making your 10% goal Jen!!! Please let me know how many points you earned for the exercise challenge (minutes & miles). I'm going to have to check out your post. Hope you get to relax this weekend.

Linda - Glad you checked in yesterday. Let me know your weight loss & exercise points too.

ETA - Just read your post Jen. Sorry you had to go through all that. You deserve many, many adult beverages this weekend. Once you have it all straightened out, be sure to contact your mortgage company to make sure they don't force place insurance since the company that canceled your policy will send them a notice of cancellation.
