Good morning ladies! How was your weekend?
I did well until yesterday, when I was experimenting with the "cookie". Instead of trashing the ones that didn't turn out, I ate them, so I gained the pound that I lost this weekend! I was up last Monday morning also, so I need to find out what I'm doing wrong and not do it anymore. Hope everyone has a marvelous Monday! |

Penny I also fell off yesterday. Let's just consider it a "carb cycling" day and move on....
Still hanging out around 185. I know what I need to do to get it moving. But I'm not always motivated enough to do kimkims. |

Lisa - I have missed you so much, my lc friend! Don't dwell on the bad choices. Just start right back up tomorrow morning! I'll be here when you're ready!
Paula - I didn't fall off plan, I just had too many of an acceptable Kimkins thing! When the consistency didn't turn out right, I tried it until I got it right, so I had three! I don't know what I was thinking. I did just fine on Friday, but I just nibbled on it all afternoon. Amazing how a few tablespoons of something can wreak havoc! Oh, and that stupid Davinci syrup is deadly! I am going to throw it away. I guess what DMM was saying was right. You experiment, and when it doesn't work, you move on and not try that again!

Welcome back Lisa: I hope you had a wonderful trip.
Penny: I love those protein cookies, but yah, they can pack on the pounds. I only eat one when I'm having really strong cravings that I can't satisfy because they are such a quick option. The consistency is an issue. Sometimes mine are like sandpaper and other times they are underdone. But, darn, they are good. Especially sweetened with DaVinci's (I love DaVinci's a little too much). Paula, I'm like you, I can't seem to break away from my atkins habits to go full ahead with Kimkins. Divine: Glad things are moving in the right direction for you. I hope the trend continues. I am down to 190.6 so almost to the 180's. So dumping the cheese and fats really helped. (Yes, I get excited over the slightest loss.) I would like to get to the 180's by August 14, so I still have two weeks. That's my next group meeting. I'm coming off of a rather ugly Sunday as far as my relationships with people are concerned. Long story, more for a PM, but I hope the week gets better. Until later. ![]()

Dream - OMG! The 180s should arrive for you tomorrow! You can do it! Woo-hoo!!!
I'm thinking that the Davinci's might be an issue for me. I added a teaspoon of coconut oil to the cookie and although the consistency was fine, it got hard as a brick within a few minutes, so snacking on it throughout the day was hard (literally)! But yesterday was when I added the Davinci's caramel syrup and I tried it last Sunday in something (I don't remember), and I was up last Monday, so I'm wondering if it might be a problem for me. I feel like a sleuth like DMM...gotta make it work!GG - Hmmm...I'm no expert, but this is exactly what I'm doing. I lost .5 every day Wednesday through Sunday, but this morning I am up 1. So I'm looking at what I ate differently yesterday, versus the others. Hope you find your culprit! And the best thing I've discovered that works is to increase my water intake until I show a loss again. I know this involves running to the bathroom every half hour, but it might be worth it to lose whatever has caused me to gain. I am still learning here also, but just a suggestion. |

Ahhh GG:
I just hate that. And believe me it happens to me too. But I usually don't get too stressed over it unless it stays because when it appears overnight that fast, it usually disappears during the day or over the next night. I'm hoping it goes away for you too.![]() |

Well, happy Monday everyone
Congrats on all the weight losses so far. I'm having a hard time sticking to it, but I'm working on it hard. Just gotta keep telling myself that the food will be there when I can afford to add a little carbs. It isn't going anywhere. There will always be junk food. ![]() I thought I wasn't losing much because the scale was only going down in tiny increments here and there. Turns out, when I actually looked at my start weight, I saw that I have lost 2.4 pounds. I can live with that! ![]() Hope everyone is doing good. Keep on losin'. |

B&K'sMom - Congrats on the 2.4 pounds! I, too, am a slow loser. I was always so disappointed with losses less than a pound, but hey, they add up too! Just keep it up! You can do it!

wow many of you are droping. Thats great to hear. Me, I'm done to 257. Yes I lost 1 more pound. This is the lowest I have been since gaing the weight back. I still amd striving to see 242 as that is my lowest in 10 years. Auguest is going to be a rough month for me. If any one has any tips please send them my way.
Here is what will be happening on Auguest 6. I will be staying with my 3 year old in the hospital for 3 days, that is about an hour from my house.(I will not be going home) My one year old will be having surgery on auguest 28 and will be staying 3 days. ( same deal no leaving) We have had 6 stays in the last 14 months. I always try and pack some canned meat and green peppers, but I get so sick of it so fast. They have a cafeteria there but money is always so tight for us. I refuse to go off plan and I have a goal that I wanted to hit of 250 no latter than sept1. One thing I will do is the salad bar. They charge by weight so I will only buy the protein stuff and eat a pepper with it.

Kbetz - At some hospitals down here, you can request your own tray be delivered and the cost can be added to the bill. Then, depending on your insurance, when the business office requests the money separately at discharge, just set up a payment plan with them to pay it back. Or, since you are planning ahead of time, you could make some l/c meals, freeze them, stick them in a small cooler, and heat them up in the microwave (typically at the nurse's station or in the cafeteria for the hospital employees). Lastly, you could get several flavors of l/c shakes and keep them on hand in addition to your canned meats and fresh veggies. Hope this helps.

What's going on that so many of us are gaining while staying on plan?
My digital scale gave me different weights today...none of them showed a loss. One said up by .8, and 2 hrs. later (no eating or drinking), it said up by 1.8 lbs. That just makes no sense. I am eating clean all the way with my Kimkins/Atkins approach. Yesterday, we were at a restaurant for dinner and I had a chef's salad. I pulled out just 1 cup of salad, heaped it with chicken, and regular swiss bacon dressing (the only "different" thing, but its Atkins allowable)...put the rest in a box and took it home. My beverage was plain tea and I sweetened it with Splenda. Haven't even touched the rest of that salad yet! I was so darned mad about it that gain (big or small) that today I decided to go off Kimkins and replace it with that Miracle Diet (1 day of all fruit, 1 day of all green veggies, 1 day of fruit and green veggies, etc., plus all low-carb vegetable homemade broth). We'll see what that does. The last time I tried it was 10 years ago and I lost 11 lbs. in 7 days. It makes for a great reversal diet, anyway. I was told (and tried) eating nothing but cantaloupe for the all fruit day, since it brings a faster loss. It worked for me (then) - 3 lbs. overnight! Today, I was so mad I didn't eat until 20 minutes ago. Instead, I hustled the kids out of the house, went grocery shopping, bought lots of allowable fruits and green veggies, all the stuff for the "Miracle Soup" (cabbage, green peppers, green onions, parsnips, turnips, etc.), ran errands. Came back home and ate fresh strawberries. The rest of the day will be cantaloupe. I'll let you know how it works!!! Btw, I may not go for the whole week of that diet, just 3-4, but it should help get that scale report going down again, and then I'm back to Kimkins or KE.

DMM- I know, I'm disappointed also. I've never heard of anyone having issues with the DaVinci syrups, but that could very well be the culprit, and if it is, into the trash it goes!
I weigh when I first get up in the morning (after emptying my bladder, of course). If I weigh any time after that, the scales show higher. Saturday I got on there just to see the difference, and it was a gain of four pounds! But then I was .5 lower yesterday morning, so I'm gonna stick with my regular weigh-in! There was a thread on the main board, asking when everyone weighs. One girl said she weighs when she gets out of the shower. My hair is down to my waist. It's thin (I'm losing my hair again), but I'm sure it weighs more wet! I remember that cabbage soup diet! It made me so sick I thought I was going to die! Please be careful! |

Hey gals! sorry to hear others are having the same frustrations as me! All last week I lost and then gained about 2 lbs every day! The good thing was that I wasn't gaining, but I still haven't figured out why it wasn't staying gone when I lost! So I read and talked with miss m and decided to do some cycling myself. I started easy by just upping my carbs (with legal foods on Friday)- Saturday nothing different for morning weigh in, so I added a few more carbs on Satruday, not all the legal variety- some (7) crackers and a bite size crunch bar were my illegal items. Sunday came and no change still and so I decided to just completely get out of ketosis and restart KE Monday (today). So yesterday was pretty much a free for all- I didn't eat sweets, but I did eat potoato chips and we went to taco bell... I felt like I had a tumor in my stomach last night! So I was definitely looking forward to getting back on plan today with k/e. So far just 2 lb gain for all of my off plan eating, hoping to get back into ketosis and loose 10 more pounds asap!!
Tannie? Yoo hooo! you MUST be in the 190's now! you are rockin! How are you? Are you off having fun with your boys? I hope so- I haven't been posting much, but miss ya!Jamie- miss you too- you must be celebrating making it to MINUS 50! and getting ready to go back to school... me too (I am a school counselor)... or maybe you are out on a date with that sexy repairman! tee hee! ![]() Gran- congrats on your new grand baby! I hope that bathroom remodel gets done soon so we get you back here!Dream- sorry to hear you didn't have such a great Sunday- hope the week is good to ya! ![]() all newbies! Hope you all stay till goal- it is fun here!![]() hey to everyone else too- I'll try to get my act together and post some more soon! ![]()

Devine, You have me thinking! Is it posiible the recent increase in humidy is causeing peoples weight gain or lack of? I only lost a pound, but I have been so carefull. It seems like 3 years ago I could eat what ever amount of LC I wanted and still loose 5-7 pounds a week. What gives? The best thing I can figure out for me is that I am now 28 and I am strating in the summer instaed of the winter.

Kbetz: Hon, I honestly don't know...I'm stumped on this and I am REALLY beginning to think it has to do with moon phase. (I used to joke we can blame it on the moon, but there is something to be said about moon phases affecting our lives.)
I've tried Atkins for years - always seem to start in the fall or winter. When I restarted with Kimkins, it was spring and it dawned on me later this might be a better time since one can go outside, exercise, swim, etc. and not worry (too much) about catching colds and other nasty viruses. That's what usually halts me. Once I catch a cold, it becomes bronchitis, and that easily turns into pneumonia. There goes the WOE and the exercise! I know humidity makes me swell and causes my fibro pain to significantly increase. Yet if I can get into the water, I can work it off...by nightfall, my fingers are down and my feet are no longer swollen. Btw, you and I are the same weight right now! If nothing else, how's that for encouragement for each other to keep at it??? |

Aggie: Now, see, up until today, I found that my wt. is less after 9:30 a.m. (if I don't eat or drink, that is!).
To console myself, maybe I should go by the earlier wt....at least it's almost 2 lbs. down! |

Good morning everyone!
Jennay - I tried the turkey pepperoni for breakfast (like you suggested), but I'm worried about the nitrates because I've been swelling a little. Any other suggestions? I'm thinking my only other alternative may be to boil some eggs and toss the yolk. I can pop them into my mouth for a quick breakfast. This morning I'm just having a diet coke (they're all cokes down here), and if I get hungry before lunch, I can always eat my SF Jell-O that I brought for an afternoon snack. Kbetz - I've lived in SE Texas most of my life, and the humidity is something you NEVER get used to. This morning it's almost 80 and the humidity is over 90%! I think one of the weather guys said that we're 300% on our rain for the month and although that cools things off elsewhere, it just causes a sauna here, with an increase in mosquitoes! When I walk out to my car in the morning, my contacts even fog up (much less wearing my glasses)! DMM - We're more susceptible to pneumonia in the summer than the winter, because people walk out of the heat and humidity right into the cold air conditioning! In fact, my niece was just released from the hospital yesterday, after being there for three days. Bless her heart! She is 12, has Down Syndrome, and has tiny little ears. They barely hold her glasses up, and then she had a nasal canula on top of that! It kept falling off of her ears! Thankfully she's getting better now. That reminds me, I need to call her today. (They live in NW Arkansas). She's a little hard to understand on the phone at times, but she's a mess! Okay, here's my question for today, and it's rather embarrassing, but I have to ask... DMM, I know that you mentioned taking SF MOM to help regulate. I never did that because I didn't want to become dependent on it. I typically go every day, but since I've been following Kimkins, I don't go as often. I did some reading on some other posts, and have heard that it's not necessary to go every day and I shouldn't worry. But my "schedule" has become very strange. I finally went Friday morning after not going for three days. Then I ended up going three times that day. Then last night, when I still hadn't gone since, I was getting a little worried, especially since I had a one pound gain yesterday. My stomach didn't feel bad or anything; I just hadn't gone. So I broke down and took some SF MOM like you suggested, and now I've gone four times in the last couple of hours - not fun. Sorry, I know this is TMI, but I need help here. As always, I would appreciate your thoughts/suggestions/advice! |

Ok I am back on plan today.... I ate way off yesterday, but new today I was going to start back on my diet, so I just ate good
![]() I was surprized when I got on the scales this Am and found I was 2.2 lbs down from when I weighed last week on the 25th.... I guess all the activity of the week really helped.... I know I need to get back to the pool, I can feel my body really starting to get tight, knees bothering me... the exercise in the pool has made me alot more limber.... and I really needed that.... when I went to the Doctor last week, he gave me something for restless leg.... I finally got my dosage right and I am sleeping all thur the night now, but wake up really tired..... I am still trying to figure the best time to take it,so I don't wake up so tired.... but it has done wonders for my sleeping..... I am eating today Breakfast - 4 egg w/ bacon coffee w/ cream Lunch- if hungry egg salad w/ sf lemonade Dinner- Steak and sausage w/ sf lemonade Snack- I do hope I find time today to cook some pork rinds, I am all out.... I should be back into ketosis in a few days and things will level out... Oh, wanted to tell you, my brother, who lost from 550+ down to 289, has went to see a doctor about surgery to repair lose skin.... the doctor told him he didn't need to lose anymore.... that the surgery will take about another 40 lbs off of him.... so now he is just waiting for insurance to give the go ahead..... I am so excited for him..... will be back later ![]() |
