Hey, girls! This is going to sound CRAZY, but I'm gonna say it anyway (for what it's worth). I went back to the calendar to check moon phases, and everytime I go up a few lbs. for no really good reason, it's been right before or during a full moon.
My best wt. losses occur during a new moon....which (for me) occurs right around TOM or his last days of visitation. Now that's WEIRD. I've been on different threads, and lots of us seem to gain wt. right around that time. Now it SOUNDS crazy but there is a scientific explanation. The ocean tides change (full tide, low tide) depending on the waxing and waning of the moon and the strength of its gravitational pull. Our bodies are made mostly of water and the rest is basically enzymes and minerals (including salt, potassium, calcium, magnesium, magananese, zinc). Wouldn't it make scientific sense that the water in our bodies react to the moon's gravitational pull? I have to pull out some of my science books later to verify this but, if memory serves, full tide occurs during a full moon! If nothing else, this is good for a chuckle...and we can still blame it on the moon!!! ![]()

Christy: Raspberries and strawberries are ok on the OWL phase of Atkins, with strawberries having the lowest amt. of carbs. So we can have 1/2 cup whole strawberries (not sliced).
I'm still doing more of a Kimkins with a "touch" of Atkins type deal, but I decided to up my carbs via low-carb fruit from 20 to 25 but ended up between 30-35. with the low-fat salad dressing (too many carbs, imho). Fats are way too easy to raise, but I still hadn't hit 30 by the end of the day so that is why I added 1 tbsp. coconut oil. Today I followed almost exactly the same menu. My one change was for the Eggbeaters dinner when I added pure cinnamon, let the Eggbeaters cook like a pancke, and then measured exactly 1 tsp. of sugar-free maple syrup for dipping. It was a nice change, but I have to be careful with sweet flavored things...don't want to set off my sweet triggers! |

Last night my boyfriend made brisket. I thought that I would just have a few slices with the fat trimmed off and some pickles (both Atkins friendly, but definitely not Kimkins). This morning, the scales are up that same stupid 1.5 that I was down yesterday! This is making me angry! Am I going to have to spend the rest of my life eating nothing but chicken?
This is not the day for the scales to not be cooperating. Today is my last day on my temp assignment. I know I always find another one, but this is getting old, and I am so stressed! But my boyfriend made my day this morning. I got up and was going through my usual routine of pee and weigh, and there, on top of the scales was a little angel with a sign that said, "I believe in you!", and it gives a thumb's up! Of course I started bawling! With all I've been through, I am so thankful for my sweetheart! I just don't know what I'd do without him! He made my day!

Back again.
Well, here I am back in the fold. I have been gone for awhile. Yesterday was my first day on Atkins and I was able to stick to it. Today I hope to do well again. I tried other ways of eating, but this is the one that is easiest for me.
I have some allergies to food now and this one fits in the best around those limitations. Anyone remember the old Weight Watchers? This kind of reminds me of it. Or am I just dating myself!!!!!!!!LOL LOL LOL Good luck to you all. ![]() |

Hey Ladies: Sounds like you all are doing great. I'm back down but not quite from the 1.4 showing yesterday, to 190.8. One step forward, two steps back. I have to lose every lb three times before it finally stays off.
![]() Christy: Now you are on a roll. Way to hang in there.Jamie: Congrats! You deserve it. Way to go! Welcome back RedHot. Divine: I'm blaming it on the moon. I did go to the gym yesterday. I always feel so much better when I do. I don't know why I don't go more often. Penny: Awwww You have the greatest BF. How sweet is that? I hope all goes well with a job or another placement. Til later.

Christy - Wow! 10 pounds is terrific!
Yeah, he's a keeper! Our 2 year anniversary is in 6 weeks and we're saving to buy a house and have agreed on no extravangances, but I thought I would try to give him a thinner girlfriend! I'm thinking he likes it already! Jamie - Wow! 2 pounds overnight! Way to go! If I don't get my fat butt busy, you're gonna pass me up and be in onederland before me! Dream - I don't know about you, but this is making me so angry! I have to lose this stupid 1.5 again before I get into the lost column again! DMM - I got a SF Rockstar at lunch. I only drank a little of it because it's so SWEET! I don't sweeten my tea or koolaid, so I'm buzzin'! It tastes like bubble gum. Hey, will the milk thistle in it make me go? |

Christy: OWL means Ongoing Weight Loss, the phase after Atkins Induction. (Some people choose to stay with Induction for a longer period of time). Congratulations on your first 10 lbs. down!!! Doesn't it feel grand?
I must have found the 2 lbs. Jamie lost, cuz today I'm UP by just that amt. I can only figure I found them because I am exercising between 1.5 and 2 hrs. a day, and it's a muscle gain (again). But it still made me mad, mad, mad...like Penny felt after having only a few slices of brisket just to see a 1.5 gain this morning...That's when you feel like biting something really hard, like the nearest table! What the heck is that mess, anyway? And then I got madder and, when I'm mad, I get even more determined. I'm RAGING mad now! I see that my wt. today is exactly what it was on July 15 (a whole 7 days before I hit my all time low of 55 lbs.) and the first emotion brought on a trembly chin (Thanks, PMS)... I felt like I've done all this for nothing. But then, but then...I'm still 50 lbs. down and that's a wonderful accomplishment. Be it the moon or my own metabolism, I may be slowing down or even gaining for a while but I am still in control of what I eat and what I do. The benefits I've experienced so far HAVE made it worth the effort. The thing is...now I want ALL of the perks. ALL of them. ![]() And why not? Why shouldn't I look as good as I feel? Why shouldn't I feel happy and proud when wearing something new, instead of worrying about the same old trouble spots (and everything on this body is a blasted trouble spot!)? Why should I always look matronly when I'm STILL young enough to have a 9 yo son (and could easily have another child even now)? Why should I HAVE to be fat because my body fights me with insulin resistant and goofy hormones? This is crazy and it's not what I chose for myself, and I absolutely refuse to let it rule me any longer. So, I'm sticking with it and I'll keep finding tweaks until I tweak this little witch of a body right down to a healthy goal weight...but one thing I AM going to try to understand is this concept of "re-feeds" or "free meals." I'm on a few other threads with people who have discussed them, but I don't quite get it all. But I see that people who do these find that, while they have a temporary 1 day gain, they then begin dropping again. It's another way of shaking up the metabolism. Since my switching back to Kimkins and even an Atkins type deal isn't working so well, it's either back to KE (just as PMS hits) or else a "free meal" hour or day. I just don't understand it well enough yet...but I will. You bet I will! ![]() Last edited by Divine Miss M : 08-03-2007 at 02:07 PM. |

DMM - I'm terrified of trying a re-feed, because the last time I ate non-LC, it took me 3 weeks to get over it, not the day or two and then losing again, like everyone else. As it is, I haven't cheated since that day in June (I think that's when it was). All I have done is gone back to Atkins from eating low (carbs, fat & calories). But just one little short skirt twirling around in front of my boyfriend, and having him say, "Woo-woo", then it's worth it all over again!
I can't speak for everyone else, but I am so thankful to have you here sharing your experiences! I, for one, am appreciative of your research and posting on things that work/don't work for you! Thanks! |

Kbetz - I can't remember the name, much less the spelling. But you're right. I heard the smell is nauseating! And I've heard you have to boil it to get it out. So smell up your house with an awful smell? It's not worth it for fake-out spaghetti!

Woot! woot!
![]() I started my TOM about 5 days early though - seems weird since I'm on birth control... maybe the weight loss is throwing my cycle off? I'd like to hear if any of you have any ideas about it... I have never had it happen before. ![]() Miss M, Aggie, anyone else who has gone up, keep your chin up, we are in this together and if I could snap my fingers and make it all go away I would. I wish I could help, but I see you all have the right attitude- the stickin' with it attitude! Soon you'll be losing again and feeling better. I know how frustrated I have been during my two, three, four, five week "stalls" ![]()

Good Morning Ladies
![]() It's been a busy weekend so far and it's only Sat. morning We did the amusement park yesterday and we had a GREAT TIME, it felt sooo good walking around without people staring and taking side glaces like they used to do when I was weighing in the 400's.It is just amazing to fit in the role of being just a normal person.I wasn't even tempted with all the food around me, I stuck to the plain woe and drinked iced water. I was rewarded with a 3lb loss when I weighed this morning. I also made the 100lbs lost!! Dec.31st I was 308 and this morning I'm 208.6.

Jen - OMG, you are so close to the 180s! The K/KE plan is truly working for you. Whenever you're ready to post some more daily menus, I'll be ready to take notes!
Tannie - Congratulations!!! Do you realize that you've now lost more than you weigh? That is amazing! Yesterday I went to the mall to buy me some new panties. I know it's weird, but for some reason, new panties always make me feel better when I'm down. I walked into Lane Bryant, looked around, and told myself that I didn't belong in there anymore! I walked into Penney's and looked in the regular Misses section. I didn't buy anything, but the selection in those sizes sure are better than the old lady ugly stuff that I've been having to settle for in the plus sized section! That feeling alone was better than new panties! I was rewarded with a 2 pound whoosh last night! After the scales being up yesterday for no apparent reason (I had some leftover brisket last night, so there goes that suspect), that leaves me with only a .5 loss, but a loss is a loss, right? |

Hello everyone...I've been on vacation thats the reason I've been MIA. Needless to day I didn't stay OP. But as of yesterday I am back on the wagon and feeling good about it. I had 4 deviled eggs and 6 hotwings yesterday.
Penny I cried when I read what your BF had done for you..That is the sweetest thing. I think he is a keeper! Tannie I have a 16yo I know all to well how they are, but you do have to just make rules and stick to them. My husband is his step father and I respect him so much for being able to step into our family and deal with everything that my teenager (not counting what my 11 yo ) throws at us. Dont' get me wrong he is a good kid, but my goodness he is moody! To everyone I've missed you guys are doing great!!!!Now lets see if I can get back on track. Talk to you guys later. Jeannie

Nuts, I had a "free meal" last night and I'm UP 4.4 lbs. Some people say to expect this but I think 4 lbs. is just too much! Boy, was that really easy to do (I mean, GAIN wt.) I had already gained another 2 lbs. as of yesterday morning, so that's 6 lbs. up (2 lbs. from exercise, 4 lbs. from the free meal).
All I have to say is that it had better go away real fast. Today I'm on Kimkins but will keep it to one salad for the day. Although I planned out my menu, I MAY decide to go KE instead...And I don't care that much if I have veggies or salads at this point. I'd rather just get back into the low-fat, low-carb mode right now. |
