Tannie so glad you are back with us... sorry about the home stuff, I know that it is can be very difficult blending families- especially if you have a teen involved that has a chip on her shoulder.... I hope that peace comes to your home soon... teens can be very difficult, but they are worth all of the effort we put into them... hugz to you
! I am down one lb this am-to 196 so I guess my refeed this weekend kicked me back on track. I am going to weigh again around 9:30 because it was about 6:50 when I weighed this morning, hopefully I will have some more loss between now and then. I am drinking green tea now too, maybe that helped along with taking my vitamins every day - I have been really good with that this week. Usually I'm lucky if I remember the vitamin two or three times a week! yikes! It is easier when I am back on my regular work schedule though. Speaking of work, my training went fine yesterday. Not a lot of new stuff, I had already used the computer program in my internship, so the training went smoothly and the lady who trained me was really nice! Now I just have to find a desk for my office so I can get rid of the ugly monstrosity that is in there.... I am off to browse craigslist... check back with ya later ![]() BTW- where is my Everett buddy? Bunnymuffin? you still here? hope to hear from you soon! Your loss on K/E is inspiring! Hope you come visit again soon... Jen

Thanks Ladies for the words of advice, I sure do need it. Lisa I think what you said is very important set the rules and make sure they are carried out.
Thank God for a brand new month!! We plan on taking the kids to Busch Gardens or either Disney this weekend, we will have to take a vote. I vote for BG because it's only 23 miles away, it's cooler (shady), probably less of a crowd, and the wildlife and shows. I will be able to fit in most of the rides for sure and I look and feel like a normal person, no stares at me for being too large

Jennay - I can relate to that desk. BF has one in our dining room, along with all of his computer equipment and two servers! We have to eat on the couch, and I'm forever getting my food all over my chest! Just a few more months of this and we'll move into a house and have plenty of room. By the way...good luck on your new job!
Lisa - Are you down by the coast? I can hardly stand to be outside right now because of all the humidity. But I'm sure your scales will be down tomorrow after all that sweating! I had chicken last night. BF made chicken parmesan, and even though he makes it with the Japanese bread crumbs, it's not low enough carb to suit me, so I just sprayed a skillet with pam and cooked the chicken that way. I was worried that it wouldn't cook all the way through, but it did, and it was good.

OMG, Tannie! You should be so proud of yourself! You should have a blast this weekend!
I hate to sit in booths because not only do I have trouble keeping my boobs out of my plate, but my thighs stick to the seat when I'm trying to slide out. I look forward to the day when I can sit comfortably (with my legs crossed) in a booth! |

Hi Everyone:
I've dropped down to 190. Why couldn't it be 189.9. Okay, I'm being selfish. I'll take my losses in small doses.Penny: You are so sweet. Thanks so much for the well wishes. I was an emotional basket case yesterday and reading your post made me feel so much better. I laughed at the boobs on the plate thing. Been there, done that so many times. Its so nice to be able to sit at any booth now. Oh, you will catch up with Jennay and me. I wasted 2 weeks losing the wedding weight gain.Jennay: Thanks for the PM. Gosh, you guys are great. Congrats on your loss. I think going off plan once in a while does definitely help. It keeps your body in check. I'm glad your job went well yesterday. Gosh, too bad you didn't need a desk about a month ago. My office GAVE away all of its office furniture on Craigslist last month when we moved because we upgraded with all new furniture.Tannie: Welcome back. You are almost to onderland. Yay. 16-YO's can be difficult. Isn't it great to be able to go on the rides again. I haven't experienced it yet, but I will. I've denied myself way too long.Lisa, even a .2 gain can be traumatic for me, so when I lose .2 of a lb I'm okay with that. Don't worry, it must be that glass of water you drank. ![]() Divine: A mini Whoosh. If 1 lb is a mini whoosh, mine are microscopic.![]() Have a great day all.

This is so much better then the "1 meeting a week" weight watchers method. It's lets us communicate, bond, congratulate and comfort each other. I am sure most of you are like me and just don't have time to make a silly meeting once a week with a bunch of people I don't know anything about.

Today I am UP by 2.8 lbs.! But I think that's due to exercise wt, since I've been in the pool 2 days in a row and doing "conditioning" exercises.
Last night, I changed my goal date to Jan 4 (instead of Dec. 14) and that means I need to lose about 4.33 lbs. a week….which is a bit easier to accomplish with Kimkins and exercise. (If it takes a little longer than that, it’s ok, too.) I want to do this in a healthy way and keep up with my exercises, because they have helped me SO much so far! I’ll still be close enough to my original Dec. 14th goal, and I figured these crazy exercise gains, while aggravating when it comes to the scale’s tale, is FANTASTIC for inches lost! It’s important for me to get stronger and to TONE my muscles as I lose, so that’s my new thing: FOCUS ON LOSING INCHES! It's also a good time to do that now, since it's "hot as you-know-what" in August and that gives me a perfect excuse to get in my pool every day (please, no more days of cold wind...but a little rain in the early morning or at night would be good for all the fields and the poor farmers!). Fitday PC also states my daily caloric intake should be about 1, 131 calories with that new Jan. goal date. I doubt I’ll get that high, but you never know! Today, I'm playing it by ear with the menu, but here's a good guess: B: 3 hb eggs; tea with half-n-half and 3 packets Stevita L: 5 oz. all-white meat chicken, 12 oz. home-made chicken consomme D: Ditto, perhaps with a 1 cup salad and a jello-size cup of fresh cauliflower and broccoli My beverages today are 1 cup of black tea, followed by green tea, chai tea (both flavored with Stevita), and 0 cal/0 carb bottled, flavored water. Tannie: It's so good to hear from you. I can only imagine the stress with which you are dealing..but I can imagine well (we have only one son who always gave us a very hard time and that was enuf for me!). I was thinking about you, too, last night and remembering your avg. monthly wt. losses. I thought to myself, "If that's what's happening with Tannie, too, then I should just accept that this is what my body is doing. The important thing is that I'm doing what Tannie has done: I am sticking to plan, even though I've made a few mistakes, and eventually ALL of this extra wt. is going to come off and I'll be looking as fine as Tannie does." And that's what helped me find my NEW and REVISED mojo! Thanks, hon!!! Dream: I'm glad I made you laugh. I wasn't sure what "officially" constitutes a WHOOSH! Jennay: "That's the way...uh-huh, uh-huh...she likes it, uh-huh, uh-uh!" WTG, babe! Mycattaz: .2 up isn't really that bad, though I hate to see it myself (esp. when I can't figure out a probable cause!). But you're back on plan, and these stupid weight fluctuations seem to play a BIGGER role in the game than I think should be allowed!!!! Christy: What a beautiful attitude! And you know...as aggravating as it is when the scale doesn't budge, "A maintain is always better than a gain." (Unless it's an exercise gain, but then that means more inches will come off eventually!) Everybody, have a wonderful day!!!

Tannie - I wish! I've lost 21 pounds total, not 20 for the month of July. The first goal I set for myself was just to lose the first 20. I didn't set a date for the goal, because I didn't want to be all mad & give up because I didn't make it. Wow...can you even remember back that far, when you lost the first 20 pounds? The amazing melting Tannie!
Dream - Hey, I couldn't do this without y'all, and when one of you is hurting, it upsets me. If all it takes is a few words of encouragement to get through the rocky portions of our lives, then you got it! What's that noise? Oh, it's just Dream, knocking on the 180s door! Christy - You sound so upbeat, and it's catching! KUTGW! And I agree about the meetings. Y'all are the reason why this is working for me this time. I didn't have your support before, so I always failed. And just like all the gym memberships, I wouldn't go to a meeting every week either. This is great because no matter what time I come in, y'all are always here for me! I just hope that I can offer the same encouragement as you have for me! Jen - OMG! Congrats! It's amazing how that refeed worked for you! Now I've got to get me some green tea! If I don't, you're gonna run off and leave me! Lisa - Just be careful out there in that heat, my LC friend! You have to do what works best for you. If I recall, you had some pretty ROCKIN losses recently, so KUTGW! GG - Congrats on the loss! KUTGW! DMM - It's got to be the exercise, and to be honest, I've been afraid to start because Kimkins is working for me and I don't want to screw it up! I agree with Jen...thanks so much for all of the info on Kimkins! I didn't even want to try Kimkins, because I didn't think I could do it! But I'm doing much better. I've lost 7 pounds since my Friday the 13th start date. I've been up both Mondays and back down both Wednesdays. I haven't discovered the problem, but I want it to go far, far away...just like all this weight! |

Penny (I am so used to calling you Aggie!): You are welcome! I'm so glad KE is working for you.
As for me, I think it IS the exercise. We're having an interesting thread here on doing Kimkims safely. I'm sure you've all heard about the controversy, and it's a sad and often vicious one. Still, when all is said and done, I can't abandon the idea that Kimkins does work and Kimmers herself never got into the super low calorie mode (I've seen her Fitday)...so some of the things I've done (dropping calories too low) is a mindset others have also fallen into. After all, we're all trained that watching calories is the most important thing...so we begin to drop them as time goes by. And I'm NOT into dissing Kimmers herself. I've learned some great tips from doing Kimkins, just as I did with Atkins, and for that I am grateful. So, I'm working on doing both the water workout and upping my calories (which I think have been way too low, which is my own fault) with good foods...just a little more veggies, a tiny bit of low-carb fruits ( that means strawberries and raspberries for me!). I have no idea if it's going to work, but Fitday says my calories for my January goal should make for about 1100 per day. So far, I've had 625 and I feel STUFFED. For breakfast, I had 3 hb eggs (and I immediately got nauseated; guess I got used to Eggbeaters these past few weeks!). For a late lunch (just finished it at 5:15 pm), I had 1/2 c. low-fat cottage cheese, 4 raspberries, 1/2 cup of fresh cauliflower and broccoli florets, and 5 oz. of canned all-white meat chicken - with 1 tbsp. no-fat ranch dressing to fork-dip the chicken and veggies (thanks, Penny! That was your idea and I adopted it!). I felt like I was over-eating! And I could barely finish it, I was so full. The cottage cheese had to wait awhile...I just couldn't manage getting it down. I suppose this might be considered an "ongoing wt. loss" phase for Kimkins. I'd be scared to even try this (and I AM doing it with a bit of trepidation) if I wasn't exercising. But I want those inches to drop! This month my wt. loss was 13.6 - but the inches didn't follow suit as usual since I slowed down with the exercise. In June, the wt. loss was 13.4, but I dropped about 9" inches thru the month...most of it from my waist and bust. So what the hey - if 13 lbs. is my avg. for 2 months, with or without exercise, I'd rather do the exercise and see the all-over body trimming! Today is almost as hot as the August days of my childhood (Detroit is humid, baby!)...I remember days when the thermometer was over 100. For the past 6 years, the summers have been milder, and either too rainy or too dry. I don't really care for super-hot days, but they are wonderful for those who like any kind of water sports. Anyway, I was able to get into my pool without shivering away and I did a very thorough 2 hr. workout. And I feel so MUCH better right now! Mycattaz: Hon, I'm sorry I overlooked your earlier questions about Rock Stars. The come in different forms (Sugar Free, Diet, Zero Carb, and regular). They are properly called Rock Star Energy Drinks, come in soda cans, and are a carbonated energy drink loaded with lots of various B vitamins, cartnine, ginko biloba, taurine (great for the metabolism), panax gingseng, and a few other ingredients I don't recall. They do have caffeine...I think 160 mg. in a 16 oz. can. There IS a difference between SUGAR FREE and DIET...diet has some carbs and removed some ingredients....plus they added ASPARTAME. I dropped them right away and stick only with the SUGAR FREE or ZERO CARB version (which tastes like grape soda). The SUGAR FREE I've found so far comes in a gold can with a white star on front...tastes like a fizzy fruity kind of soda. When poured out, it looks like Mountain Dew (which I don't like). I started off easy with these, since they are expensive...just had 1 at lunch every other day. They DO give a great energy boost that one can really feel for about an hr. So I often have one before or during a workout, too. Last edited by Divine Miss M : 08-01-2007 at 03:55 PM. |

Hey Ladies thanks for all of the encouragement! I can feel the love everytime I check in here
! If you try the rock star drinks and don't like them, you can also try other sugar free energy drinks- my fave is sugar free red bull- I tried the rock star but the taste... ew, couldn't do it. seems like most people stick to one kind or another- sugar free red bull has 3 carbs... I have been having one here and there, but like rock star they get expensive... about 2 bucks each. Hope you are all having a great day! ![]() |

Iwanted to tell every one that I tried a little SF hienz ketcup( 1 carb) in a can of chicken today( warmed up) and it was actually good. I also bought some walden farms cocktal sauce today, but I have not decided yet what I think.

Hey Kbetz- I love the dreamfields pasta- obviously I'm not eating it right now, it is more of a maintenance thing for me. Some people say they can't tell the difference. For some people it causes a stall so be careful if you try it- it may slow your loss down. I never had a problem with it when I was doing straight atkins- you can also sub french style greenbeans (I know it sounds wierd) for pasta and you won't believe how good it tastes! I usually would sub the green beans when having spaghetti dinner and I never once missed the pasta.... mmm. can't wait to be off k/e and on atkins again, maybe my greenbean spaghetti will be my first meal back... mmmm. I guess I am hungry so I am going to go cook some chicken and make some deviled eggs!

Jennay, Thanks for the idea on the beans. years I ago I used cabbage. The pasta is actually going to be for our aniversary at a cabin in November. DH told me he want to make lassagna. Ya rite like I can eat that. I may have to make 2 batches. One with pasta and with out.
I let him talk me into eating chinnese 2 nights ago and I am still fighting the craveings. Its was chicken and mixed vegg, but Oh boy something was in it. The scale didnt go up though nor did it go down. |
