Dream - I am not looking forward to the wedding expenses! But DD broke up with her boyfriend Monday, so I won't have to worry about it for a while! I hated to sound mean, but I told her that now she can focus on school and not have to worry about all of the events that she attended with him (he is in the corps, and she was always needing a new dress for some occasion). On one hand, I'm relieved, because I thought he was a little nerd (and whaddya know? His major is computer science!), but now I worry about what the next guy will be like! I just want her to get her Masters and get a good paying job!

I'm doing good... yesterday was a rough day for me emotionally but I stuck to plan. My 4 year old was throwing tantrum after tantrum after tantrum. I just wanted to bury my head and shoot myself. Its was rough I went out with my best friend (his babysitter) and even her nerves were frazzled... I was just Done, very very done. So I was proud of my self for not turniing to food after all that and the reward was that I reached 10 lbs lost on the scale
I can realate to that. Every one loves my kids but lately people are getting annoyed with my 3 year old. He has had hard life and people are expecting to much, my self included. We were at the barns yesterday where my dad bords his horse. He just bought a 3 month old Arab for my kids to raise. My 3 year old was so excited and just wanted to run around and around and around the horse. He kept getting in trouble so I tried to pick him up. He ran from me throwing a fit I wasnt able to catch him before he slid rite into the big dump pile of " dump" ooooooooh boy. People were stareing and I had to drag him while he threw a fit back to the main barn . I striped him down and threw an extra shirt on him. We sat in the van for time out till he could calm down, Then he threw up. I wanted to throw up. Poor kid. We finally turned on some music and sang. It actually ended up being fun to be with him alone.
Being a parent has its ups and downs. I find it best to just put on a seat belt and ride the roller coaster. There will come a time when our kids wont want to shop with us or sing songs.
Hang in there. and congrats on staying strong. I battel with that one every day.

DMM/Jennay (and whoever else is doing K/KE) - how long before SNATT subsides? I'm turnin' green here! I've heard that you don't eat if you're not hungry, but I've NEVER been not hungry before! I've always eaten something to "put something in my stomach" when I was nauseous. This is new to me!

I;m not really doing kim kins but when I did get the green monster, it lasted only about a day. I am actually worried because I havent hade it in awhile and I dont feel hungry and the scale is not moveing verry fast again. I think I may have to check out the KK for a few days. I NEEEEEEED to see the scale move again. I was supposed to be down to 250 by july 16 and I am at 259. Know my goal is 250 by aug16. I hope I can make it. My lowest weight I have been in the last 10 years( my adult life) is 242. I keeping telling myself that I will feel more human when I get there, but now I wonder if I ever will. I usually am wishing for the woosh fairy, but I would settle for the SNATT monster rite about now.

I hope you feel better soon and get a woooooooooosh

Kbetz - Thanks! By the way, I read your post on another thread about Jane Jetson. The lady that did her voice was Penny Singleton. In the 50s she starred in a television version of the "Blondie & Dagwood" comic. My daddy thought she was pretty and said if he ever had a daughter, he wanted to name her Penny. That's how I got my name!

Christy - no worries! I've had to ask all the same questions! Fortunately, we have a "reference manual" in Divine Miss M! She diligently researches everything and has been quite successful on Kimkins and Kimkins Experiment (K/E). She's the best person to ask, but I'll give it a try...

SNATT = Slightly Nauseous All The Time

Atkins is simply low carb. Kimkins is low carb, low fat and low calorie, and the Kimkins Experiment is even more strict. DMM, did I get it right?

I have tried some of the recipes listed on this link.
Recipes for Eating Low and Kimkins

There is also a Kimkins thread here that you might check out. Though some of the information on there was posted a while back, I have still found it helpful.

The funny thing is, I remember Kimkins as a poster several years ago when I first tried Atkins, and I remember her doing Stillmans, which is also a similar restrictive low carb, low fat and low calorie plan. Now I return here, and discover that she created her own plan and is charging $60 to join. Being a poor mom with a daughter in college, I can't afford to pay for every gimmick that comes around. But when something is free and sounds intriguing, I'll try it. I re-started Atkins (for the umpteenth time) on 5/7/07. I was frustrated because I kept gaining and losing the same two pounds, and when Divine Miss M kept giving us information and sharing her success, and Jennay tried it and had success, I thought I'd give it a try. I've lost 5.5 pounds in a little over a week, which doesn't sound like much to some, but it's MUCH better than I'd been doing and incentive to keep going!

Aggie: Some people say the SNAT is gone in a day or two, and they recommend drinking low-fat chicken broth or consomme (IF the sodium content doesn't stall you) to help deal with it.You might also want to try green tea or green tea lemon tea. If worse comes to worse, the teeniest amt. of allowable Kimkins carbs (like one "finger-grab" of lettuce, topped with your fav low-cal dressing and, if you wish, your lean protein) will really help and will probably make the SNAT alleviate or go away. I had to do that last time I switched back to KE.

Btw, I also have to say I was very weak and tired and headachy on KE the last time I tried it...that lasted the whole 10 days before the good KE effects significantly slowed down (and by then, I was way past the end of my patience rope). So I'm mentally preparing myself for feeling like the dickens this week, cuz I'm back to what I call "Strict KE" and keeping my lean proteins to no more than 12 oz.

You know I do experiments to see what works best for me and then share the results...Some experiments work for me, some don't. Though it aggravates me no end to see small gains, my recent experiment gave the worst results yet.

This past weekend, after doing loads of reading on alternating diets, reversal diets, etc. I was hoping that upping the carbs (which would make me gain a little at first) would stimulate faster wt loss in the end. It's supposed to be at least 1-2 days of "reversal" menus, and then back to the normal low-carb WOE. Uh-uh. Did NOT work for me. I consider that one a badly failed experiment. I was maintaining, then up (yesterday) 3 days after the reveral diet, and and look what happened today just from walking and eating 1 stupid stromboli!

The bad news is that I've gained a total of 5 lbs. since last Saturday. Exercise is the cause of some of that gain, but so is my own experiment on Saturday and my one mistake yesterday. LESSON LEARNED and, as usual, the hard way.

How much of the 5 lbs. is fat and water and how much is muscle gain is unknown to me. BUT even a failed experiment teaches me what works and what obviously never will for this body of mine.

Anyway, I will NEVER do anything like that again....I love fresh bread, and it obviously loves me TOO much cuz it clings right to me and doesn't want to let go... It's going to take a week to get myself back on the wt. loss track!

This week, I'm also laying off the exercise as I want to make the scale move down as quickly as possible! My first goal is to get rid of those regained 5 lbs., then I am aiming for another 5 lbs. to hit my end of July goal (which I probably won't make, but I should get close).

I'm giving myself 10 days to do all that with my KE version...and if that isn't fast enough as it should be, my back up plan is a day or two of a modified Atkns WOE, with only teeny amts. of real fats added (1 pat of butter, a smidgen of olive oil to bake chicken), while sticking to all lean proteins.

Wish me luck!!!

[font="Verdana"][color="Blue"]DMM I am sure you are going to get right back on track. We all slip. Heaven knows I have started and restarted more times than I would even want to count, but we have to continue to try. We know what the alternative is and that is not acceptable. You have done such a great job so far and I am so proud of you

Christy You will love it here. These gals are the best!

To everyone else. you guys take care. BTW where is Gran. She hasn't posted in a while????

Talk to you gals later.

DMM - Hey, you tried something, it didn't work. No worries, just move on. You're doing so great! Don't let this get you down. Keep on going!

Jennay - Leave the door open in onederland, and save me a spot!

Jeannie
- The last I heard from Gran, she was remodeling her bathroom. I don't know where she is!

Gran - where are ya?

Christy - what a sweet picture! Is that your daughter?

Char - Wow! Congrats on the 8 pounds! Hey, can I be next for a whoosh?

I'm down another .5. Boring, but at least I'm still losing!

Whew! Today the scale reports a 1.6 wt. loss. Isn't it amazing, though...I gained 1.8 yesterday, but couldn't quite shed all of it by today, even with KE. Weird.

Well, I hope I see a repeat of that tomorrow!!!

christy- First off you are so pretty!!!!! second, dont worry about how fast your losing! cause i am the same way as u i want to lose fast! but dont worry it will come. you will have a woosh soon! i only have one big woosh every other week and then i lose like 2-5 lbs a week other then that. what i always try to do is not look into my food sooo much cause then i expect more of a weight lose if i hardly ate the day before. try more water, more fiber, and less hot dogs cause they are so full of sodium and will make you retain the water weight that you want to lose. good luck and u are looking great!

Good morning everyone!

Sounds like everyone is right on track WTG!

DMM: It was probably just water weight. When I walk alot out in the heat my hands, feet and ankles swell. So your trip to the park was probably what caused the gain. I'm sure it will all be gone in a day or so along with a few more pounds.

Aggie: You are heading in the right direction no matter how small the loss. I'm proud of you.

Char: Great job on the 8 pounds. Thats wonderful!

Bp: WOW 50 pounds. thats amazing!

You girls have a great day.

I'll check back later.
