Catz: My dh is great about that (but then, he's getting better at learning the longer we are married!). But I've tried (Atkins) so many times, would get stuck, tried different things to break the real stalls, and failed. Sometimes my mom will say, "You can have this, can't you?" and I have to say, "No, I'm fine, but thank you."

My kids have been pretty good about it, too...most of them are older (teens and 20, plus the 9 yo). One son will look out for low-carb things that might work for me, one doesn't seem to pay much attention unless he's watching me change my ticker as he passes by, the little one is enthusiastic for me, my daughter asks how I'm doing every day, tells me how great things are for me, brings home little salads for me...So it's good.

Well, today I lost 2.4 lbs...but I really changed the menu yesterday. Here's what it was:

B: 2 cups lettuce, 5 oz. Valley Fresh 98% fat-free chicken, 1 tbsp. each of real bacon bits and grated sharp cheddar cheese, 1 tbsp. of Ceasar Light Classic dressing
L: 5 oz. Valley Fresh chicken (per above)
D: ½ cup fat-free cottage cheese
Drinks: 2 SF Rock stars, about 6 pints of 0 cal/0 carb flavored water

Calories: 530
Fat: 8
Carbs: 11
Proteins: 19

I was concerned the proteins were way too low, but I wanted to try another experiment. Seems I really, really have to keep a watch for the still-emerging patterns of how and why I lose. There are days I have to up the proteins to about 90-100, other times keep them at 60, and then some days I really drop them. But if I keep the same kind of menu ( that is, the same amts. of protein grams, fats, carbs, calories), my body acclimates every easily. So it seems I have to keep that metabolism guessing!

I'm still tired out, though TOM is almost done...just feel exhausted...

How's everybody else doing?

Hi Ladies:

No new loss to report today. Dropped my sis off at the airport before work. We are lucky it is really close by. I have a high school reunion to go to tomorrow night, jury duty next week, then I think I'm event free and my life can get back to normal.

Believe me Divine, I'm a long way away from getting any cosmetic surgery done. I don't believe my insurance will cover it unless it is doctor recommended. I am still considering it though. Vanity is not one of my strong characteristics, but sheer ugliness I do try to work on. Great job on the new loss. I'm all about changing it up. Oh, and I'm out of berries, so I'm not going to buy any more for a while and keep fruit at bay to see if that makes a difference. I find when I change things up a bit, I start to lose again. So people always talk about grams of protein. How much is too much? What is a good way to measure? Do you know a site that provides that information? For example, how much protein is in a 4 oz piece of chicken breast? I'm trying to figure out if I should cut back.

Catz: You are a losing machine. So do you cut down on your salt intake while you are flushing out all that extra water? You always seem to lose at such a fast rate. I'm hopeful, because I hope that's all I'm carrying around is extra water.

Paula: So shall we start fresh on Monday together? I'm probably good to go on Saturday and Sunday. I just have to get through Friday. And, would somebody please remind me to take my calcium?

Jennay: I have no idea about the get together. It sounds like it would really be fun. I'm willing to commute to wherever. Gran, are ya out there? Bunnymuffin, what do ya think? I'm free the last week of August because I'm taking a week off to do whatever, no definite plans.

Hi to everyone else.

Hey Miss M and everybody- catching up on posts and reporting in for the morning shift. I just weighed in at 199, up 1/2 pound, but we will see what tomorrow brings, usually when I am eating legal and go up it means a big loss in the next couple of days... something to look forward to. I am visiting my sister this weekned, I told her I am sticking to my eating plan, no cheating what so ever! I suggested that she try it while I visit to see if she likes the results like I do (no hunger, fast loss). I also have decided that keto stix are not my friend. I have never gone beyond a trace of ketosis on the color, though I know I am in because of my lack of appetite, and a small amt of food really fills me up. So really I am not going to waste my money on them anymore. On that note, if anyone wants me to send the rest of the bottle that I have (pretty full actually, probably 40+ left) PM me your addy and I will send it off to the first reply. Hope you are all on plan today and having great losses, from what I read today it seems we are getting it going again- YAY US!Hope to hear from Gran, Sharbur, Mermaid, Christie, Jamie, Lisa and others who we haven't seen for a while to- just wave as you pass through!

You know, I noticed in the pool yesterday that my stomach is actually bigger in the water. I can see that instead of hanging down...it's floating up around my middle. It's nice to have the "girls" float too. I am so easily amused.
Paula: I hear ya, honey, and had the same attitude until I saw one particular website. Many of the ladies were buck-naked (talk about embarrassing) and they had really nasty-looking, super wide scars...but as I said, a few people didn't scar so badly. I do...very fair-skinned plus it's just a matter of genetics. So that's what shook me up. Not that we can afford any procedure, either (although I have not checked insurance yet).

Like you, I have a road map on my belly, from under the bust right to...well, you know. Got my first pregnancy stretch marks real quick, and they are faded to silver. But some are still a hot pink. Ick! My c-section scars are either white or still reddish-pink (I had bikini cuts, but two were not in the same place). The higher cuts hurt like hell and it took me 2 months to get over the pain.

I also noticed some people with tummy tucks had higher scar lines than others; it looked like their surgeons cut way too high (I'm talking right under the belly button and around to their waists). I was looking very carefully at before and after pictures, and couldn't figure out why the surgeon would do that. So that's another thing to ask a surgeon before he does the procedure -where EXACTLY is he going to cut you?

Hey! It's funny you mentioned what happens to you in the water. I do the same thing you did and I get quite amused when these Size D's (used to be HH) perk right up! But I have noticed the shape and size of the floating tummy has changed...it's still an apron, but the apron is not dragging so low.

Dream, no I dont' worry about sodium intake..... i EAT alot of bacon in the morning with my eggs....I think alot of it has to do with the diarectic effect of Atkins too...

Jennay, maybe your sister would like to try those strips...

Well I just got back from the doctor, he did some more blood work... I think they like to stick me up there

the nurse took my blood pressure, with a small cup, I told her it wouldn't work, but she told me that was the big cup.... it was 148/98... she said that was good,.... I thought to myself she doesn't much to be a nurse.....

Anyway the doctor came in and wanted to take my blood pressure again.... He got a lot bigger cuff to take it with... and it was 120/ 80 Yeppee!!!! perfect blood pressure....

so thats my good news today.....

Tannie: I hope you guide us through your journey with the skin removal. I am anxious to have the details. Kudos to your doctor. He/She must be fantastic!

Catz: I can relate to the ignorant nurse and the ridiculous blood pressure readings. My son is a BIG guy. But he's only 17. He's been BIG for a long time. But because he's under 18, I have to take him to pediatrics. Of course the cuffs are small. He had to go through a whole bunch of tests and other things because they kept getting a high reading. But when his pressure is taken with an adult cuff, it's fine. It cost him dearly in dr appts and other tests. The fortunate part is they did find a heart defect which is now closely monitored.

Congrats on your great blood pressure.!!!!!!!! That must feel fantastic.

WOW~!!! Tannie, that's fantastic news! Wow-wow-wow!!! And don't worry about the extra 2 lbs...I'm sure your morning "weigh in the buff" gives the more accurate measurement.

Catz: I'm glad the doctor rechecked your bp! That's just wonderful news to be at normal!

Dream the doctor gave some technicle reason for me having to use a large cuff.... YOu would think the nurse would know this..... I always tell them in the beginning I need the big cuff... but the nurse seems to be all knowing...lol

Lisa that is great news on your blood pressure

Thank you Miss M for the links, I will be checking them out later, I gonna go lay down for a minute, in ketosis

Even tho my doctor gave me the go ahead which I will be doing my research in finding a doctor, I'm gonna wait until I get to 170 before I get the procedure done, the more fat I lose the better.

Jennifer – Yeah, I did the same thing. No exercise at all, and I’ve lost 3 pounds this week so far.

Lisa – you are so awesome! What would I do without your encouragement? Thank you so much!

I’ve found that it’s not easy to do this with BF around because he cheats so much. I’ve been doing really good, and I love his cooking, but he adds carbs to some things, and I’m trying to keep mine much lower than he does.

Same here about the BF cuff! The nurse always has to leave the room and go find the bigger one because the Velcro starts coming apart and it pops off! And I know all about being stuck. One time I was hospitalized for my asthma, and my daughter and I counted 23 pokes! That included having to restart the IV twice because my veins would collapse and my arm would swell up, and the last time they gave up on the IV and started giving me shots in the butt. I had bruises all over! But I hope your tests turn out as great as your blood pressure did!

As far as the shakes, I’m trying the same protein whey mix that DMM suggested, and since I’m only mixing it with water and ice, it’s boring, but palatable. But my favorites were the Carb Solutions mixes. If you’re doing Atkins and not Kimkins, add a little whipping cream to it. It makes them so creamy. Oh, by the way, I tried the “bark”, tweaked it a little, and I was up .5 this morning, so even though it was really good (tasted like fudge to me), I’d better stay away from it for a while.

Jennay – you’re doing terrific! KUTGW!

DMM – This afternoon I tried a couple of tablespoons of mix to a small Styrofoam cup of water. It seemed more chocolatey, and just what I needed to get me through the afternoon.

Wow! You had SIX C-sections? I only had one, and the doc used the same scar for my TAH last year (at least I think - I’ve just now been able to see it). Oh, and believe me, I am FAR from goal. I’ve lost less than anyone here, but I hope to make my first mini goal soon. But I can almost cross my legs! Woo-hoo!

Paula – I thought the tilapia was pretty good. BF didn’t care for it. Oh well!

Dream – I hear ya. I had two different assignments this week. Hard to plan my eating when I don’t know where I’ll be and what I can get to eat. I was trying K/E for a few days, and had to switch back to Kimkins because of lunch choices. I skipped breakfast because I just can’t make myself eat at 5:30 in the morning!

Tannie – I’ll bet you’re so excited about the tummy tuck!

Jamie – I don’t know anything about Protein Power, but I broke my stall by cutting my fat intake (no bacon or cheese). It worked earlier this week, but I was back up .5 pound this morning, so I’m not much help, but maybe you could try it to kick start yourself in to losing again.

We’ve missed ya! Glad you’re back in here!

Hey gals- quick check in to let you know I was right about my "gain" I am already going down, I weighed just before bf took me to dinner and I was down to 198. We went to a local ymmmmmy mexican resturant but I was really good. Not one single chip, no rice, no beans not any of it! I had seasoned chicken breast, a little sour cream with it, and a few bites of green/bell pepper that was cooked with the chicken breast. I will continue with my water tonight and hope for even more loss in the AM- nite all!

Jennay, wow you are doing soo great. I bet being under 200 has given you the motivation to stay on track, save room for me.

Aggie- Yes I'm excited but also very cautious, for some reason it all sounds too good to be true. I think I will get excited when I get a date and my DH is driving me to the hospital. I'm also scared because I have seen on TV shows how painful it is. But I also know that the Lord is in controll of pain too.

Jennay - that's wonderful! I wish I could be so fortunate. I was up .5 yesterday, and now .5 today. That proves that K/E will work for me, but I can't do it right now because of my schedule. Oh well.

Tannie - you're sure to pass me up any day now!

Hope everyone has a fabulous Friday! It's another rainy day in Houston.
