Catz: Oh-oh. I didn't get God's email. What could this possibly mean?!?

Kbetz: Thanks for that tip...it's a good one when craving chocolate...especially pudding!!! I keep checking those SF jello cups of pudding, but the calories are 60 per cup...and the fat-free ones have way too many carbs! Oh, well....they will have to wait for the happy day I reach Maintenance!

Aggie: I really do understand your trepidation about trying those whey protein shakes when they are only available in 2 lb. jars!

Aggie and Dream: Humidity practically kills me...I'm from Michigan, the Great Lake State, and I swear the humidity can be as bad as that experienced in the inner parts of FL! May God forever bless the person who invented air conditioning! (But even AC does not always stop my hands and feet from swelling, either.) The very 2nd the barometer starts to rise, I feel it in my arthritic bones. We had a sudden rise in temp late last week, and that explains why I was in so much fibro/arthritis pain the 2 days before.

Btw, today I was having a real problem with hunger. I know it's good ole PMS doing its thang. I kept myself busy but that hunger just didn't go away...drank even MORE water than usual. I was trying so hard to stick with 2 EW meals and 1 lean protein meal, but instead I did a KE day...just 1 EW meal, then 10 oz. 98% fat-free chicken for lunch (with a little fat-free ranch dressing, which perks it up nicely), and then 2 oz. turkey and 17 slices of turkey pepperoni. Oh, and I had 1 "pop" can of a Diet Monster Energy drink (6 carbs, 20 calories)...it really helped and it did give me an energy burst.

That was it for the day, and the totals come to 683 calories, 12 fats, 18 carbs, and 42 grams of protein. The numbers look good...I just hope they help that scale move down a little more. I'd be thrilled to hit 50 lbs. down before TOM hits me!!!!

Hey gals! I have been lurking around this week. Trying to get stuff done, it has been so hot though (for us I guess anyway, in the 90's) it is cooling off finally but I still have a lot of work to do. My post Sacramento trip weight was back up to 206.5, two days later I was up to 209.5 and this morning (after two strict days of K/E) I am down to 203.5! my lowest weigh in yet... K/E is not too bad. I am sticking with it for a while (thanks for your help Miss M!), I have a wedding to go to in mid August- I want to be at my 187 goal. According to kimmer and the kimmer thread it is possible. I will keep you all updated.

paula! and lots of to you too, hope the blues are gone soon...

Tannie- YAY YOU!! you are so AweSomE and then some!! If we were all together we would have a big huge par-tay with tons of ballons and flowers for you, and and LC food of course!! I noticed you changed your final goal too- keep it up

Paula - I am so sorry that you're feeling blue! Hopefully now that it has finally stopped raining, the sunshine will help your mood. I know that it sure helps mine!

DMM - there you go again with those big words! I had to look that one up! I feel like Jethro Bodine who only graduated the 6th grade!

Jamie - I am sorry about your gym membership. I have an exercise room and a lap pool at my apartment complex, and I never go down there. I need to get motivated!

I can go almost all day with out eating when I have my half cup eggwhites for breakfast, but I do tend to get hungry in the evening. I am starting TOM so that may be part of it as well. I will let you know if I am still having my evening cravings in a couple of days (it takes 3-5 days to have deep ketosis really kick in, I am only on day 3 today). I have fought off my cravings in the evening by drinking pink lemonaid flavored water. So far so good. I am doing K/E because I have seen miss M having such awesome results, i figured it was a way to get myself back on track. The only thing that really motivates me a lot is seeing weight gone...

Yesterday I had 678 cal, 11 carbs, 76g prot. and 3 diet soda and A LOT of
H2O!

Paula: Sweet thing, for you. Hon, perhaps you should get out into the bright light...it may help you feel better. I have a dear friend who does actual light therapy since she is convinced she has that Seasonal Disorder. I used to take St. John's Wort or other natural stuff to help me with the winter blues, since they get pretty severe. I hate those kind of blues - who wouldn't? I hope you are feeling on the "up and up" very soon!

Aggie: Me?!? Big Words? What?!? Where???

Bpgurl: Yes! to the 1 lb. down, but to that insurance deal.

Jennay: I can hear you "That's the way, uh-huh, uh-huh, I like it...uh-uh! That's the way, uh-huh, uh-huh, I LIKE it!!!" WTG, babe!!!!

Today I am exactly .6 of a lb. up....sheesh, here we go again. Well, TOM is due very soon, I can tell. At my age, it can "hit" anywhere between Day 23-Day 28, so I'm waiting....but I feel bloated, I'm headachy, and whipped out. So it's that "time" again and, like all of us poor ladies, I just have to deal with it and ride it out.

I've also decided that I probably chose a poor week to try the EW Challenge, since I've been absolutely ravenous about every 2 hrs. the last 2 days (but only starting after 3 p.m.). What's with that???

I stuck with KE again all day yesterday, but that obviously didn't help the scale. So I'm going to push the body a little further and have hb eggs for breakfast and then whey protein shakes to replace lunch and dinner, and try to up my water consumption (I would think 10 pints or more a day is enough, but you never know when it's TOM time!)

Sometimes I do get a little tired of trying to find out what slows me down...I study my menus and counts and I think I get a handle on it, and then my body changes the rules on me again.

Where's Catz and Tannie and Gran and Kbetz and our other "girls" on this fine July day????

Hi Ladies:

Okay, give me the strength to get through this week. First, I'm feeling kind of blue for not keeping my eating under control. Kick my butt will ya.

Jennay: You are a inspiration. Perhaps, if I can just muster my will power, I can do KE for a few days to get me below 190. I'm so frustrated at being the same weight for almost a month.

Paula: Hugs to you. Hopefully we can motivate each other. I realize the less we weigh, the harder it is to lose. We did a formula for the additional exercise I need since losing 70 lbs. I supposedly am to add enough to burn an additional 550 calories a day in addition to what I was doing. Sheesh, when do people find the time for all that exercise?

Catz: How ya doin today? I ate waaaaay too much again yesterday. I just can't seem to keep the food out of my mouth. I'm at home today to get ready for the wedding, so I haven't had breakfast yet. Planning to have sausage.

Divine: I cooked up the pepperoni in the micro last night. It cooks most of the fat out and it is nice and crispy. A great treat if you can tolerate the salt. You are so strong. Send some my way so I can dump at least three lbs would ya.

Kbetz: I've made the protein cookie. It's kinda good. I tweak it a bit with Davinci's. I may add a berry or two to see what happens.

All my kids are home. Asleep right now. I go pic up sis at the airport in a couple of hours. She's flying in from TX.

To everyone, have a cool day!

Dream: Are you kidding? Me, heck, no, I'm not strong but just darned mad and determined, that's all.

I'm glad you mentioned the turkey pepperoni...cooking it up sounds like a good idea, but I have been wondering about the sodium content. That may be exactly what I'm not dropping wt. this wk. as I hoped. Sure, I exercised like crazy on Monday and Tuesday, but today I should have seen some drop, not a .6 lb. gain! Amidst that upcoming TOM, my absolutely ravenous hunger the last 2 days, and a little experiment with aspartame again, I'm not sure what's the real cause. One thing? All three? Experiment time again.

Although I'm not as close to goal as you are, I surely do know how you feel, Dream. It does get ridiculously absurd to find out what we need to do to push that body wt. down. Sometimes it seems to me that the darn body sure gains the wt. fast enough but it doesn't want to let go of anything.

Another thing I find strange is that, once, a certain tweak will help the wt. drop but when I repeat that same tweak, nothing happens. I've even gone back and repeated three menus for three days in a row, and the results were not the same. My guess is that certain menus work better at certain times of the month...whether it's hormones or the lunar phases (tide in or tide out), I don't know.

About your menu...have you been eating salads and veggies? More and more, I am recognizing I have to keep switching between KE and Kimkins. When the wt. loss competely stops for a few days and then I see a gain, that's the day I switch over...starting off with a lean protein breakfast and 2 whey protein shakes the first day, then having a Kimkins day on Day 2.

How about you? Have you seen any pattern like that with your body?

Miss M- I definitely think you are right on about switching things up a bit now and then- it always seems to help me get out of a stall/super slow loss to up my fat or carbs for a day or two, then go back down. I know Dream has been experimenting with berries and good carbs- I think oatmeal even once or twice? a while back. Maybe some treats during the wedding week and then back to LC strict will help kick it in to gear. BTW Dream, I don't think we need to be kicking you- maybe just your metabolism!!

back to work for me!

Jennay/DMM - I've been looking at some of the Kimkins stuff, and it sounds like I could do it, but it worries me that you get so little good carbs. Like today, I had turkey breast, broccoli and green beans for lunch. The vegetables have carbs, but they're good carbs. So I'm confused. What do you do for the vitamins you're missing out on? Take supplements? I have had a hysterectomy, so no TOM here (Yippee!) but my body has needs that won't be met by not eating good veggies - like the calcium in broccoli. Explain, please!

I am just ready to try something else because I've spent the last two weeks gaining and losing the same friggin' pound!

I don't do Kimkins unless we eat out, but you can have two cups of salad vegis a day, that is a lot more than that average American gets in their diet. I follow K/E most of the time, I've followed Divine's lead with adding more egg white meals, I have to lose another 11 lbs in ten days to meet my first goal. I have this body that sees carbs as carbs right now. sigh.

Angelina, how long have you been doing K/E (if you don't mind me asking) and how effective (what have you lost in that time) has it been for you? You can PM me if you don't feel like broadcasting it to the world.... Thanks for any info!

Aggie: The menu you had today sounds like Kimkins; the main difference would be the exact amts. of lettuce and veggies and, of course, fat and carb counts in the dressing. Kimkins food lists now call for 0-3 cups lettuce per day, and it features two different veggie lists (the 2nd list is for maintainence) - veggie amts differ, depending on whether or not your daily food intake includes the lettuce.

The other difference is that, unlike Atkins, Kimkins is low-fat. Instead of real fats (butter, vegetable or olive oil), we Kimkinites use no-fat sprays, like PAM, and no-fat or low-fat salad dressing. (That is the part that is hard for my mind to accept; I actually flinch when I use no fat dressing because it's so high in carbs!). Also, it is advised to rarely indulge in fatty "red" meats like pork, sausage, pepperoni, bacon, and steak. (Even the leanest cut is 30% fat calories, and that's high.) Kimkins suggests low-fat options like turkey bacon or turkey pepperoni (carbs are slightly higher, but fat is lower...yet sodium is high).

The daily carb limit is no more than 20, just like Atkins. Unlike Atkins, however, Kimkins doesn't have "official" stages like Induction or Ongoing Weight Loss. Officially, Kimkins does not count protein grams or fat grams. But again, cruising the Kimkins board reveals that the fastest losers stick to under 30 fat grams per day and between 60-70 protein grams per day (amts. in oz. vary, depending on the lean protein).

Also, Kimkins advises to use mix 2 EW and 1 whole egg to make scrambles or omelets, in order to save both fat grams and calories. Another option: use Eggbeaters. Atkins has no limits on whole eggs.

There is also the KE option (no lettuce or veggies, just unlimited lean proteins, no cheese, no added fats). In a way, this is similar to Atkins' advice to cut out the daily salads if ketosis is not achieved, and then to add one back to the menu once hitting ketosis. (In reverse order, if going out of ketosis for unknown reasons, he offered the same advice.)

Atkins allows limited amts. of cheese, Kimkins calls for no cheese except 1 piece of string cheese, limited to 1 per day (but not allowable on KE).

There is also this info:

MEAL REPLACEMENTS & SNACKS
No other substitutions!
• Low carb protein shakes (1-4 carbs) as a meal replacement
• Stallone brand protein pudding as a meal replacement
• Dannon Carb & Sugar Control yogurt (3 carb brand, limit 1 per day)
• Part skim string cheese (limit 1 per day)
• Sugar free gelatin (limit 4 oz per day, no whipped topping)
• Homemade or purchased sugar free popsicle

I hope this helps you!

Hey Jennay!

I can't say I mind since it's in my stats, . I started on June 5th and I've lost 39.5 lbs since then. I'm trying to get to 236 before our party on the 22nd because that was my weight the day I was hit by a car almost three years ago and it just means something to me to be able to say that I'm down to that weight again.
Then I'm going to burn right past it!!!! My next goal after that is to get into my first date sundress before summer is over, that is probably about 210. Then it will be under 200, I'd love to be at goal by my birthday in December, but I'm worried that I'm reaching too much.
