Quick waves to everyone, since we're going to move over to the new thread! I'm sorry I haven't checked in...I've been swimming and playing and having friends over. I've been talking about ya'll to my friends, though! They belong to another on-line chat group called Mice Chat, so they "get" the whole BBS buddy thing!

Erin, I'm sorry about your fight with DH. You're so wonderful for realizing that it's not YOU, he was just stressing and lashing out. Happens here from time to time and I usually end up being right!

Joyce, I think Lori had great advice! Get your heart a-pumpin', get your body a-sweatin' and drown your sorrows in LOTS of water! We're here for you. Friends are better than carbs!

Angelique, I've done the Epsom Salt thing. You WILL go. No doubt about it. There are usually instructions on the package. However, expect 1-2 days of weight gain from the spike in your sodium intake. Flush out with lots and LOTS of water!

Heather, beeyoutiful new car! I'm so glad you got everything resolved in your favor. AND that you got a yummy night's sleep with the Flexeril. Ahhhhh...

Lori, your evil side can play with my evil side anytime! I drive a Toyota Echo and would LOVE to get a Corolla or a Camry next time. I'm not sure about the Yaris. It's a silly name for a car. Thanks SOOOO much for all your tips! Every little trick helps!

Jennifer, my goodness! What did they shoot you up with? I hope you feel better soon!

Christie, I'm trying to envision you climbing a ladder without your feet. I think you're my hero now! Awesome scores on your tests, though!

Moni, you studious little thing, you! And hey, at least he brought back CHEESE of some sort! Men are so funny! Of course, if I took a shopping list to the Home Depot, I'd bring back drywall screws when I should have bought decking screws.

Diva, good for you! Back on track and playing with us! It's so nice to hear that your doctor is supportive of this WOE! What is the Byetta for? Does it treat your insulin resistance? Welcome, welcome back, baby!

I'm going to post this in the new thread too! I realize I haven't talked that much about what I'm doing for my PLAN and eating and such, so I will talk more about what's going on in the new thread! Love you guys!

July 1st already! Midway point in the year. Thanks for starting the new thread, RadioBabe. Love the kitty photos!

Tamara, thanks for the welcome-back! Yes, the Byetta is for the insulin-resistance. By having too much insulin, my body was in "fat storage mode." Well, I must have been the poster child . It causes other problems too, which is why I went to the doctor to begin with. I have two kids with type 1 diabetes (their body doesn't make ANY insulin), so the shots aren't very scary to me. Hey, if I start feeling better, it will be worth it!

So far, so good this time around! This is day 3 for me and, yes, I am already losing!!! I have stayed on plan with my food, but am once again struggling to get in enough water! It is soooooo hot here, you would think I would want to guzzle water all day long! Last night, I made a huge container of Crystal Light pink lemonade. That should help up my water intake.

Breakfast today will be scrambled eggs (again). I have some left over grilled mesquite chicken from last night, so for lunch I will chop it up and put it in a spinach and romaine salad (love ranch dressing!). Not certain about dinner yet. DH is working tonight, so I usually fix something quick and easy for the kids. I have some fish in the freezer, so I may have to pull out the old George Foreman grill! Maybe some broccoli too.

Do you guys still have an official weigh in day? I remember we used to post our losses either Sunday or Monday, but I'm not sure.

July already, huh? I can remember starting this thread in January. Everyone was so motivated. Look at y'all now! All of you are losing and moving toward your goal. I am sooooo proud of all of you, and I am jealous too. I see where all of you are right now, and I realize where I could be if I had stayed on plan. Realistically, there is no way I can reach my "ultimate goal: Lose 100 pounds in 2006", but I can try my hardest to make the last half of the year successful. If I can lose as much in the last six months as most of you have lost in the first six months, I will be a happy, happy girl! You are all my heroes

Have a great day!!

Happy July everyone!!!

Well I'm afraid to weigh myself today. I'm probably up from yesterday. I think I will just own it because I'm not looking back (brb going to weigh)....Okay well I'm starting July at 214.4. I'm not going to set a specific number goal for the end of this month because that didn't work for me in the past. I'm just going to stick to a healthy WOE and hopefully the scale will cooperate & at least move in the right direction!!

Diva, I'm so happy for you that you're losing already on day 3, that must feel great!! KUTGW!!! Oh, you can set whatever weigh-in day you want I think. I am pretty compulsive and weigh almost everyday. LOL

Tamara, sounds like fun having friends over for pool parties! I'm sure you have a good 4th of July bash planned? Can't wait to read your posts on your plan!
Dabbadooey!

Hugs to everyone! Come check in here & don't go MIA!!

You guys I just have to tell you all this, because I'm so happy!! I just re-did my measurements to have a good starting point for July. The last time I did it was May 16th and I was 215lbs then. So, I really have only gone down 1 pound in that month and a half, but look at the difference in the inches!!

.............Loss since May 16:.......Loss over all:
Abs:.............. 1".......................... 17"
Waist:............ 2".......................... 8"
Hips:.............. 2".......................... 14"
Thighs:.......... 0.5" each ................ 4" each
Upper Arms:.... 0.5" each ................ 3" each

I hope this inspires you to measure yourself because even if the scale hardly moves the measuring tape is your best friend!!!!

Hi Everyone...It looks like everyone is doing great. I've gone from 275 to 264 since June 14th when I got back to business again. I'm so happy that we are on the 2nd half of this year. It has been a very hard year for me so far in every way, but I'm back on track and looking forward to the 2nd 1/2 of 2006. Radiobabe congrats on your loss before your weigh in...you can do it and be such an inspiration to all of those listeners out there. My goal for the next 6 months is to stay on plan with no cheats and lose as much weight as possible and make this year one to remember not only because of personal hardship, but also because I finally got this weight off and got healthy.

Tamara - I agree about working out. Just gotta figure out WHEN I can do it with my insane schedule.

Dabbadooey - Of course you may join us! We're a pretty active little group and very supportive!

Diva - I think knowing we're on the down-slope to Christmas/holiday season again will get everyone motivated AGAIN. You can do this! If you start feeling tempted by something off-plan, hop on and POST.

Heather - your positive posts were a great way for me to start my day. Thanks!

Kim - My "loss" isn't confirmed, yet. You know how those home scales can be (evil mechanisms!). But thanks.

Is it strange to always feel like weighing yourself after a good poop? LOL! Just askin'...

I have a bit of a challenge tonight. We're going to see the Lipizzaner Stallions show and I don't know what I'm going to do about eating. We're leaving at 5:30 and probably won't be home until 10:30/11:00pm. Since my plan is low-carb/low-fat/low-SALT, the usual indoor arena food options won't work! I don't think they allow you to bring food in, either. I'll have to check the venue website about that, since we're going to be in a suite, and not regular seats (scored tickets through the station! WOO HOO!). Thoughts???

LOVE THE THREAD!!!

Ok ladies,
This thread is screaming with energy this morning! I LOVE IT!
I am starting completely over. Washing my hands of the old stuff and failure and just gonna do it!
Hubby is supportive and just headed out the door to Costco with a list

Bacon
Eggs
Sausage
Lettuce
Roast Beef deli meat (for roll ups)
Ranch Dressing
Green Peppers
Hamburger Meat
Chicken Breast

So, I will have some good stuff to keep on plan! I have cheese in the fridge and will eat a piece so I can have something now before he gets back. I don't want to get so hungry that I attack him and the box of Costco goodies and eat everthing before it even gets in the front door.
It's another hot day here today- I plan on hiding inside with the A/C. Hubby is going to install another A/C unit today so we will have two downstairs. The one is just not cutting it for the other part of the house.
Well, I am motivated by all of you. I am starting out this morning 261
I plan on NEVER seeing that # again!
Do any of you have any ideas of something we could do for the emotional part of dieting? I really need to address some of the issues of why I feel the need to push down stress, sadness, even excitement with food.
I also need to measure. I did it before and was like holy smokes! I never figured I got far enough to see any inches gone so I never measured again.
When measuring boobies do I do it with a bra on and go from my back around the front? I always get confused as to where to measure.
The tape measure never lays flat of course - there are too many rolls and bulges so I just kind of guesstimate! How do you measure a big hanging tummy? What day should we all weigh in? I think that it would help with accountabillity for me. I would have to post even if it's up. I think it's one of those things that when it's UP we REALLY need the extra support to still hang on and know that it WILL go back down! So, everyone I guess just decide when it is best for weigh in. Maybe next Saturday since we all started this new great thread on a Saturday!
Ok, it's laundry time! I will check back in with you guys a bit later!
Big hugs! and of course LOTS of skinny vibes! Luv ya all VERY MUCH!

If I had the emotion thing worked out, I wouldn't be HERE. Seriously, they all tell you the same things, like go take a walk, put some music on and dance, take a bath, etc. It just never worked for me as a replacement for food! Dr. Phil always says something like you don't break bad habits, you REPLACE them. So you have to find something else you do when you're stressed, other than reach for food. I haven't found my replacement, yet.

I weigh-in 2-3x/week but I can post my "official" weekly results on any day.

Yeah, I hate measuring the twins-tummy I have. What hips? LOL! They're somewhere to the side of all that, right?

Yep, the above stuff doesn't work for me either. I am going to try to find something like a workbook to work daily that will keep me I guess more in the frame of mind that I need to be in. I have been looking on the internet and even thought about buying the OA workbook but not sure. I think I will find something that will help - even if it's just listing 3 things I did good each day and 3 things that I could work on the next day etc. It's all a work in progress but I'm worth it! We are ALL worth it!
I want to create like a little thing for my journal area or even at the end of my posts that show daily my food, any exercise, water intake, vitamins etc. and then followed by the three things I did good, and three improvements. I think that might help me a bit to stay on course.

I think I know how I'll handle my food dilemma tonight. I'm going to eat before we leave for the event and take a protein drink packet with me and mix it with water, while we're there. The venue doesn't allow outside food or drinks but I doubt they'll confiscate my little packet! Boy would I be pissed, if they did!

I had a bar for breakfast and I have salad with chicken and fat-free italian dressing on it, in the fridge here, for lunch. And some mandarin oranges, too. I'm not really supposed to eat canned but come ON... I doubt that little can of oranges at 50 calories is going to screw up my weight loss!

Okay, the whopping 4hrs of sleep I got is starting to have an effect on me. Criminy. Two more hours of being the happy DJ.......

Hey guys! I wrote this plan up for myself, but thought you might want to take a peek at it. Let me first say that from when I started low carb in June 05 until Feb 06 I never counted carbs or worried about anything and the weight kept melting off. I did take a walk EVERYDAY and just made good low carb food choices and that worked for me. However, I stalled out in March 06 and decided to get strict and count carbs (that's when I found LCF for support too). This is the plan I worked out then, but never wrote any of it down. I have been keeping a food journal (since April) to keep me accountable, and those are three sample menus I pulled out of there. I wish I had been keeping a journal the whole time.

I will say that this strict plan did help jump start me in March when I was stalled out at 232 and I lost 9 pounds that month. But it quickly stopped working, so I went back to about 40 carbs per day but anywhere in the 30-60 carbs per day range and still maintained just as I was when I was being strict. Well, now that I'm past the road trip and car accident and all that I'm going back to this strict plan & going back to walking daily because that got relaxed to maybe 4x per week depending on rain. Hopefully I can jump start my losses again like I did back in March. Got my fingers crossed!!!

Heather - Oh, that is SOOOO not fair! I can't have any of that processed stuff! For me, it's lean meats (cooked from fresh or frozen) and fresh fruits and veggies, Morton's Light Salt, salt-free seasonings, 2 T. ff dressing/day, and 4oz ff milk. I can have 2 slices of light bread, 1/2 baked potato, or 1/4 C. brown rice for my daily starch.

I'm limited to 2 diet drinks/day but nothing with caramel coloring, like diet Coke/Pepsi. I don't drink sodas, so that's no biggie for me, but I don't drink Crytal Light because it gives me really bad heartburn! So, it's water, water, water, some coffee, protein drinks added to WATER, and "thermoboost" added to WATER.

I gotta go pee........

Well Joyce, I'm sorry if you don't think that's fair, but everyone is different. I'm glad you found what's working for you & I just wanted to share some ideas about what has worked for me in the past.

The main thing for ME is that I have to eat & drink with enough VARIETY that I won't fall off the wagon and eat potato chips or brownies! So, if eating a nice salty piece of bacon or a couple cheese crisps keeps me away from the carbs, then that's what I'm going to do!

Moni, I'm sending you tons of skinny vibes!! We can do it!!

Just do the best you can to measure! I didn't measure my boobs (I'd be too depressed to find out if they lost because they're already tiny! LOL). Abs: I measured around the biggest part of my tummy. Waist: I measured right across the belly button. Hips: I measure a couple inches below the belly button at basically the widest part of the hip. Thighs: that can be tricky to make sure you measure around the thigh at the same spot each time, so I found a freckle to use as my guide LOL. Upper arms: I measure around the arm midway between the elbow and armpit.

Saturday weigh in day sounds fine to me. I'm looking ahead to next Saturday with excitement! Some might want to weigh more or less often though.

WOE: Not ready yet
Heather - I was being silly, you know. It's hard for me to read about BACON and CHEESE when I'm eating lettuce with chicken on it. LOL! I know everyone is different...
