Advice, please...

Hi -

I'm new here. My name is Chris, and I lost a lot of weight, (62 lbs), on Atkins, two years ago. I got off the diet, due to problems with depression, ( lo-carb aggravates depression for many folks - esp. females ), and all the negative media buzz, about the lo-carb lifestyle. I have since, gained it all back - surprise, surprise ;-\ I have tried just about everything out there - very lo-carb is the only thing that will "budge the pudge" with me, as I have both hypothyroidism, and PCOS. I will be getting "back on the wagon" very soon, as even my "fat clothes" are tight , now. This question is for anyone doing lo-carb, who also has a tendency towards depression : Is there anything out there that actually helps with this? ( That counteracts the diet-induced depression, I mean. )

I am to the point that I have to do something. I was signed up for bariatric surgery, had my approval, surgery date, and everything, and backed out at the last minute, when they asked me to make out a will. ( It was one of the few times I've ever seen my husband cry. ) I decided right then, and there, that I was going to brave the depression, and give Atkins another try. I don't care what the media, or medical professionals say - I KNOW lo-carb works. I just need to find a way to deal with the depression. ( I am currently taking calcium, with a D supplement, as I heard may help. I am a 38 year old milk-hating female, so I don't think it will hurt, either. ) Does anyone have any experience, one way, or the other, with St. John's wart? ( I am open to homeopathic remedies. )

I, also, have reason to believe that I am having some Candida issues, as well, so when I go back on Atkins, I will be doing the "yeast/vinegar-free version". I would love to hear from someone that might be dealing with this, too.
***Thanks so much.***

Hey chris, i recommend posting this on the health boards too. I dont really have much advice besides the old "exercise and sunshine". Most and thats the key word most of the time it really works. I wish you lots of luck.
