I hope it's OK that I started the thread for May. Here are the last few posts on the old thread, so no one misses them.

LOL Jennifer... I agree that bringing the scale is a bad idea, but I know I'll have withdrawals by the time I get back. No, Sweetie isn't coming, she's going to stay with my parents & sister. My sister did pretty good picking up the algebra she was struggling on, her final exam is tomorrow. I'm not sure if she'll ace it, but she'll pass for sure LOL.

I'm thinking I definitely can get to 205 by the trip, I just have to stick to things the way I have the past couple weeks. Thanks for the encouragement Tam & Jen.

I feel like I am in ketosis tonight, I have been craving water so much, never can get enough. My mom made turkey and her amazing broccoli casserole, which is where most of my carbs from the day came from, so those are good carbs. Oh, I tried the vanilla stallon pudding earlier today and it was good. So, I'm going to place an order for a case each of banana and vanilla.

Well gotta pee again & pack my lunch for tomorrow. I'll check in before bed. Tamara, if you create the new thread, can you also put a link in the bottom of this one so people can find it?

I just had to take a minute to say thanks again for all of the friendship, support, advice and love you ladies share here in this group. This is the first time in 38 years I have been ready, willing and able to stick to a diet (lifestyle change), and I know it has much to do with the support I have found here. I started this journey alone, at weighing 321 lbs. This morning I jumped on the scales and realized I am 51 lbs lighter and have a whole new set of friends. I hope one day I can repay all of your kindess. Love you all bunches and bunches!!!!!

Hi!!!

Check out my stats. Now I'm in the 200's, even if it is by the skin of my teeth. I got right off the scale after I saw that #, so the scale wouldn't have the chance to bounce!

Lori -I hope you get some "you" time soon. Let me know if there's anything I can do. Sorry you didn't get RT tickets.

Paige - WTG!!! This is a great group isn't it?

Hi Gang,
Long time no talk! I was gone all weekend taking my daughter to a science/math conference at Cornell University. It was really fun - we went with a bunch of her friends. I got to hold a goldfinch, which was pretty cool.

I have an interview Wednesday. It's freaking me out. I had a little binge last night - 3rd one in 2 weeks. This is NOT good. Somehow the scale was down 4 lbs today in spite of it. I don't believe it - I think I will pay tomorrow or the next day. You can't eat ice cream and get away with it. LOL.

The last 2 interviews I had I blew it. I'm going to practice for this one - you know all those stupid questions like "In your last position, give me an example of the steps you took to respond to a specific customer complaint. How did the customer react? Was the customer satisfied?".

OH YEAH - I feel like answering those types of questions for 1.5 hours. I have to interview with 3 managers for 30 minutes each. I know I'll feel like brain mush at the end. This is a really good company and one of the few that really are doing well. LORI - I'm sure you've heard of Paychex and Tom Golisano.

I see we have a bunch of new people - wow - that's great - WELCOME!! It's great to have all this support from a nice bunch.

I'm going to try to post more. I was sick for a week and away a lot last month plus there was the holiday. So here's to a great MAY!!

Wow! I say I miss shelly and there she is! Know what else I miss? The winning lottery numbers!

shelly - I'm glad you had fun this weekend. The binges are over so put them behind you, but see if you can find another outlet for your interview stress. Like posting here. Good luck Wednesday. I hate interviews too, all those inane questions - ugh!, but look at it this way. You said yourself that this is a good company and one of the few doing well. I would guess that in that case they get tons of applicants and can be picky about who they interview, and they chose Y-O-U! Let that be a confidence booster!

well we had a pretty good weekend. i cant believe how much our bill came to for 8 people and lots of drinks on sat! (257 dollars) my brother and i split 3 pitchers of red cactus margaritas. wow was i drunk! my hubby and his trainer cleaned up the yard, mowed it.. etc. he also had to have the septic pumped. poor aarika was taking a shower and the water started coming back up the drain. oh... and i was naughty.. i let my dd aarika get a puppy.. shes a dachsund. shes 6 weeks old, her name is coco and shes black with some tan. she is pretty smart and full of personality. im typing one handed right now cuz she is sleeping in my arm. my baby is upset, i have to babysit alot while aarika is at school or work, and my baby ignores me. sigh. shes jealous.

Really quick check in - I have SUPER bad cramps today! ARGH! Talked to the doctor this morning - She said based on some of my test results I am being put on a statin drug and have to take one baby aspirin per day. I thought my cholesterol was fine and she said it's a little higher then she would like it and my hdl she wants up higher but she said the main factor in all of this is because my father had a heartattack in his early 50's so she said that increases my risks. I am suppose to do some form of regular exercise daily, lose weight (she said keep up with south beach) she said no one needs the processed junk (we all knew that already!) I am going to go around the corner and get a sugar free latte. Miss all of you and hope to talk more soon but I gotta run.

Meals yesterday:
breakfast: one piece homemade quiche
lunch: 30 pistachio nuts and sugar free latte
dinner: cauliflower with one chicken breast with parmesan on it
dessert: ricotta cream with vanilla flavoring and pinch of sugar free cocoa powder and pinch of splenda

TODAY:
breakfast was half of a piece of quiche (such horrible cramps don't want to eat) feel sick and barfy!
lunch will be one grilled chicken breast and my sugar free latte

to all - and keep up the good work. OH and I took some pictures of the fur babies just have not loaded them yet. I really realized that Phoebe needs a haircut ha ha - she is like two eyes and tons of fur. (I always let her fluff out really big from Fall until end of Spring)

moni... dr atkins says statin drugs are not good for us and makes your heart muscles weak. you should take coq10 instead. let me know if you need more info and i will look in the book for you.

Oh Lord! How confusing - I picked up my pills this afternoon - I got a three month supply. It's lovastatin - it's the generic version of something (was told that there) and it's just 20 mg. I take one tablet in the evening and then take one baby aspirin a day too. I will need to look at the Dr. Atkins statement - I have the Dr. Atkins new diet revolution book - in my South Beach book it say's that they are good for a preventative and he said that he takes one and all the cardiologists that he knows that are over 40 take them. So now it's confusing information that two doctor A's disagree! ha ha.
What is that coq10? Hugs to all - and I still have not loaded those pictures of the fluffy monster yet.

moni click on the highlighted in blue coq10 and it will tell you. they are to make your heart stronger. i believe the info i had was in my dr atkins vita-nutrient solution or my other book which my friend is borrowing but i think its called age defying diet or something like that.

i just clicked on the link and it doesnt give any info... let me look it up.

magnesium, coq10 and carnitine strengthen the heart.

coq10 can protect the body from destructive free radicals and enhance our immune defenses, making it extremely important to preventing and treating heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, cancer and the list grows longer..

people who were on the list for a new heart no longer needed one after being on doses of just 100 mg. the heart depends on coq10 . lovastatin and other cholesterol lowering drugs have a mediocre record for saving lives. one of their side effects is inhibiting the bodys natural ability to make coq10. 1 investigation documented 6 cases of cardiomyopathy that were caused by lovastatin.

theres alot more, but i cant type it all out.

coq10 helps fight:high blood pressure, fatigue, cholesterol, diabetes, obesity, cancer, alzheimers, miscarriages, menieres disease, bells palsy, deafness, muscular dystrophy, huntingtons disease, ulcers, low sperm count and even periodontal disease. i t may even help people with hiv. coq10 fortifies the immune system and acts as a anti oxidant as well. you can take 200 mg -400 mg safely. per dr atkins vita nutrient solution book.

Hi Robwen I see you all over the boards Glad you are here!!! Great group of ladies here.
I was fixing my hubby's vitamin drink and it had the coq10 (THANKS FOR ALL THE INFO ON IT) in it and three omegas and a bunch of other stuff. It's this big bottle of good stuff that we got at Sam's Club. I took one lovastatin - my hubby said to do what my doctor said but I will pay attention to how I am feeling. I talked to my Dad too and he has been on lovastatin since his heart attack and has had no problems. I think I will talk to my doctor about it again and the risk factors that I am hearing about... I don't want to take something that could cause problems. I had my first piece of 100% whole wheat bread/sprouted and not made with flour. I enjoyed it I am adding things back very slowly on South Beach phase 2. I had 1/4 cup of blueberries/raspberries/blackberries for dessert. YUM!

welcome robwen! i dont post my menus either, cuz i never know what im gonna eat til i eat it.

moni, i prefer to go the natural route. i should be on lots of meds but i choose to use vitamins and supps. alot of meds may be good for you, but then they take away somewhere else. i just dont think chemicals are good. i dont think you would feel anything if the lovastatin was doing you wrong, thats why people have had cardiomyopathy on it.

its your choice, and some doctors are not that well informed. thats why i like dr atkins book so much. he actually includes the studies done on these vitamins and supps.

I am thinking about getting a second opinion. I might talk to my husband's doctor and see what he thinks. Or I might just email my doctor that left to become a missionary in India. She never put me on one before so I will have to really have some discussions with other doctors for their input. Does Dr. Atkins not agree with the baby aspirin too? I hate not knowing what I should do. Where is our Lori my PERSONAL RN ha ha ha.
The board is quiet today - the gang is not all here today hopefully everyone will come out and play tomorrow! Have a good night I am going to go and try to saw some logs now.
