Sargent Mandy - what is the excercise of the week and recipe post?

BTW my original goal requires another 30 pounds by Christmas - which I doubt I will make - but I am going to see how close I can get to it....what have I got to lose??? except pounds! LOL

Well, I'm very impressed you asked Sherry...I was feeling like I was the only one participating this past week (and last wek for the recipes ) so decided not to bother..but if it matters to even one more person besides me, then it's VERY worth doing

Let's see.....

Recipes: Crock pot recipes the low carb way It's getting colder in most places ( except for some lurking aussies we have ) so lets come up with some stick-to-your-ribs crock pot delights

And as for the exercise of the week I am running out of ideas so I've asked my daughter and I LOVE her response....DANCE MOMMY! Find something that really gets your blood pumping and move to it..20 minutes each evening...enlist the help/participation of loved ones or simply salsa dance while you dust ( hehehe I do that ) make it fun!

Now..go drink 2 glasses of water

Love to all...Mandy

Good luck with the root canal Sherry ...OUCH!

Mandy,

Is this challenge open to all. This is Tricie from the chat room. I have been back several times and I have enjoyed it each and everytime. I am starting over tomorrow. I want to lose at least 15 pounds by January 1st. I have been controling my eating by not really watching my carbs. But I've never stop working out. I missed one day and I felt so stiff. Anyway if this challenge is open to all, I'm in. Also, can somebody help me with my pictures. It is not working.

I have not willingly participated in the recipes but do enjoy reading them and find it a benefit...so I feel I should participate and possibly encourage someone else. As for the excercises we have all contributed - no, I don't do them all...but I add something similar if I cannot do the one posted...and my weight loss and 10 plus inches off my waist speak for the excercises you ALL have encouraged me to do.
I occasionally skip some of the daily excercises but rarely skip the wallies, upper arm workout w/weights, the pelvic lifts or my modified crunches to build me up to HN hate mes.
I also confess it is easier to skip a few when I am not responsibly posting my daily goals!
Tricie - we seem to have a high drop out rate but you are welcome here!

Sherry..I LOVE that you participate so much and hardly a day goes by when you don't post! It's great!

Tricie..we'd love to have you join us..our rules are few..you must exercise regularly (looks like you have that sewn up! ), you must post everyday to support the rest of the group as well as receive support and you must set weekly goals and try your best to meet them Why not tell everyone a bit about yourself then settle in to get to know everyone. I'm glad you found us

Cya soon...M

Hmm..guess I should start the ball rolling and post my goals, right?

Monday: 3 km run and 30 minutes lengths swimming (I'm playing hooky from work Monday and Tuesday )
Tuesday: 5 km run (with hills..argh!)
Wednesday: 5 km run
Thursday: 5 km run
Friday: 3 km run

Throughout the week as time permits: dog walks, weekly exercises with emphasis on abs this week

Continue with low carb/low cal/no snacking/100 oz water at least each day

OK..that felt like exercise just typing that out

New excercise schedule:
daily:
120 crunches am
100 plus wallies throughout the day
chair excercises am & pm
stretching routine am
40 pelvic lifts am
additionally:
upper body workout w/reps & weights 20 minutes/3X per week
10 minutes on the recumbant bike 3X per week
continue parking further away/do not use the cart while shopping (to increase walking)

recipe:
You can use the crockpot (better flavor but poorer texture) or the microwave (poorer flavor but better texture). This is breadless rueben snadwiches called a racheal casserole. Very easy!
You need:
tomatoes
sauerkraut
corned beef (canned works best)
LC mayo and khetchup or LC thousand island
grated swiss cheese
Fill the bottom of a rectangular glass dish or your crockpot with sauerkraut - use your favorite brand - as thick or thin a layer as you'd enjoy. Top the sauerkraut with thin slices of tomato spread across it. Next, in a bowl, mix low carb khetchup and low carb mayo about half and half or use your favorite LC thousand island dressing and pour enough to lightly cover your sauerkraut layer. Then crumble and sprinkle corned beef (find the lowest carb count brand) over the dressing/tomato/sauerkraut layer. Next you could add another layer of dressing but I skip it to keep the carb count down. Now grate swiss cheese - get the good stuff - and liberally sprinkle the top with it. Either slow cook on low 6-8 hours or heat in the microwave until hot.

I will post the new clothes pic as soon as I figure out my new digital...LOL!

cabbage Soup

Since I like cabbage in soup, I would slice it up and put it in the freezer in packages to go into my vegetable soup.

I have a favorite beef and cabbage recipe, too, that I'll pass along. It's my DH's favorite and he doesn't even know he's low carbing.

1 pound ground beef
1/2 onion, sliced
3 stalks celery, chopped, include the leaves
1 pound cabbage, I use the prepackaged slaw mix for convenience.
1 tsp hot sauce
1 tablespoon salt
4 ounces cream cheese
4 ounces grated cheddar cheese
xanthan gum if needed

Brown the ground beef in large pot. Depending on the fat in the beef, drain it.
Add the onion and celery and continue browning. Add the shredded cabbage, half a package at a time. Continue cooking.
Add the hot sauce and salt.
Add the cream cheese and cheddar cheese. Lower cooking temperature and cover. Continue stirring frequently so it doesn't stick.
If needed, add xanthan gum to thicken. Sometimes I don't need it and sometimes I do.

Per 4 Servings: 603 Calories; 50g Fat (73.8% calories from fat); 30g Protein; 10g Carbohydrate; 3g Dietary Fiber; 157mg Cholesterol; 2014mg Sodium; 7 net carbs

Per 6 Servings: 402 Calories; 33g Fat (73.8% calories from fat); 20g Protein; 6g Carbohydrate; 2g Dietary Fiber; 105mg Cholesterol; 1342mg Sodium; 4 net carbs

I have not made it yet but after the fat fast something to look forward too
enjoy. Winter is here and we are getting fat so soup is the order of the day if its o.k. by sarge

Sherry Sorry it's late

Tracie, Didn't we talk before? Glad to see you back!!

I am so sore, you would think I was used to this job by now. I told them I would work during the week night shift but they want me to stay weekends with them UGH!!! I scanned phones yesterday for 11 hrs!!! Ohhh the horror of one ringy dingy, two ringy dingy, I had nightmares all night last night!!! I tell you what I know what electronics NOT to buy at wal mart!!

I was a good girl on Thanksgiving. I did make 5lbs of fudge and didn't taste one bit Jessie did the honors. I also made the cornbread dressing and had Lauren taste it for me. See I have alternate taste buds around the house for me. LOL Jeana made pies my weakness and I tried not to look at them. I ate turkey, ham, deviled eggs, and italian greenbeans and broccoli cheese casserole. I think Thanksgiving and Christmas is too close together. These big meals need to be spread out more. Oh well, there is the big Easter dinner around the corner!

TT called me today, she is headed back to Florida tomorrow leaving at 4 AM I am half way between TN and FL so hopefully she will stop by on her way. I'll have my digital cam charged and ready to snap a pic of us if I get to meet her again!! It's nasty and storming in GA, hopefully it won't be tomorrow.

Have a great day all! Jeanie

I am beginning the "Walk Away The Pounds" tapes tonight. It is beginning to get too cold to walk outside here. It is actually spitting a little snow here today. I have had the tapes since I first began lowcarbing but I really enjoy getting outside to walk better than using the tapes. I will say, however, that you use alot more muscles in those tapes than you do just walking. We will see how they work because I am committing to use them faithfully, hoping for results.

I am finally feeling healthy. I even did a little bit of Christmas chopping yesterday. Actually it was Christmas/birthday shopping, as Aliyah's birthday is just 9 days before Christmas. She wanted clothes from a store at the Mall called Aeropostale.....ery expensive store with very cute clothes. But yesterday I happened to go in on the last day of a 50% off sale......50% off EVERYTHING in the store!!!! So I picked her up a few things for a reasonable price.

I barely got to work this morning and Darrell called me and asked me to come back home and take him to the doctor. He is a man that NEVER goes to the doctor, hates taking even over the counter meds and NEVER EVER misses work. So I took him to Urgent Care and he has a severe case of Bronchitis....he is home until Wednesday. Hopefully he will get some relief and sleep soon Maybe I will get some sleep too

Well since he is off tomorrow we are going to the courthouse to get our marriage license and then we have to wait 3 days before we can be married. We are hoping for him to get off next Friday and we will be married that day....nothing big.....just us and my kids and maybe my mother.

OK I will stop babbling for now....check back in later

oh Melly I didn't know you were getting married so soon... Sorry everyone has been sick. Hope darrel gets well soon.

well I have not been exercising....Seems I am always getting side tracked. Or my sleep is so off that the next day I can't get myself moving. I am back to 4 am and the other night it was 8am before I fell asleep.
My eating hads been good. No damage from the holidays. Still holding at 35 lbs.

I think I will go find my WATP tape and see if I can get back into it.......Glad you mentioned it Melly.

Sherry the recipe sounds yummy. I will have to try it.

Mandy you go girl. What a nice present to yourself.

Hey Everyone! Thanks for the soup recipie! Wow I love soup and that sounds like a winner!!!!!!!

Dang you guys, I really need to get with it ~ been eatin like crap and feelin like crap! WTH!

Things have been so crazy round here I haven't had the time to put into low carbing it seems (bad excuse I know) and it is starting to drive me nuts so I will snap back into it I'm sure!

Welcome Traci ~ you'll love it here ~ we are a really cool bunch if I must say so myself!

to HN ~ my son just come home at 7:00p from 7:00a and he'll do it again tomorrow then off Wed, Thur! Thankfully his week fell that he was home Thurs, Fri, Sat and Sun for Thanksgiving ~ now he will pay the price right!!!!!!!!! LOL @ one ringy, dingy ~

Melly - Congrats girl ~ get that man better for the big day now u here!

Enjoyed catchin up on everyone elses post and sending your way too!

Spent all day registering online and paid most of the bills that way ~ how easy is that! Dayum! It all started trying to call the Gas company to get a total due and was told by a computer person the wait was 40 - 45 minutes so I figured there had to be an easier way and there was/is!

Our football team (high school) has made it to the State Finals to be held next weekend ~ our town is pumped-up ! They called NO SCHOOL for Friday and if they win Saturday, NO SCHOOL Monday and they are getting an hour long pep-rally Thursday! Our town lives and breathes football obviously! The principal announced this over the announcments today (monday) and the entire student body freaked! How will there be any control the rest of the week

Anyway.......now I'm ramblin! Everyone take care and I will see u ALL tomorrow! to all!

This whole slippin-up thing with me ~ my punishment is gonna be to weigh-in on our goal date and I am gonna change my middle number <---------------- over there! Hopefully that will kickstart me again!

Time for the daily check in :)

Busy busy day here..but fun I was alone most of the day..absolute heaven!

Got in my 30 minutes lengths swimming but no run..just tooooooooooo cold and then it got windy so even colder.

I was running around so much I didn't even eat breakfast or lunch ( Don't tell Dano ) and just had dinner (pork chops and asparagus and some leftover roast beef and 1 slice of tomato with 1 oz cheese and 1 tsp ranch.) Water is good I'll do the abs work after the younger varmints are in bed that way Josh can't play "Leap on mommy's face" while I do my crunches

Glad to see you all posting

Love to all....M

Good Morning and Happy Belated Thanksgiving and Birthday to all....

We got back from Illinois around midnight last night and I am at work this morning...DRAGGING but I'm here.

I wanted to pop in and say hello so that no one thinks I disappeared or "dropped out".

I ate whatever I wanted over the holiday (and I wanted some of everything!) and am happy to report that I did not gain an ounce!! I did do the exercises everyday and am looking forward to being able to use my bike and gym again, I sure missed it.

It seems like a lot has gone on during the week I was gone.
I'm sorry I missed it all but I want you all to know that each and every one of you were among the things I gave thanks for on Thursday...and everyday!!

I must run as a week off from work means about 6 months of catch up, I will try to get back here later.

Have a great day!!
