Good Morning -- I'm off and running already so this is gonna be a quickie.......
Got Andy dropped off this morning and myself to work. It's amazing how much more traffic is on the road in a matter of a 20 minutes later departure time. Yuck!

Didn't do diddly on my powerpoint presentation last night -- that's what I should be doing now. I'll get it done -- already had a couple of meetings this morning get cancelled, so that will give me an extra hour or 2 to work on it. It's only a couple of slides and screenshots -- no biggie.

Didn't hit the scale this morning -- trying to stay away from it so I don't either get discouraged or a false sense of security.

Today's menu:
B: 2 sausage, 3 bacon
L: cabbage roll pie
S: 2 jalapeno poppers
D: either chicken wings or prime rib "bites" w/mashed cauliflower

Gotta run -- hope everyone's having a great day. Thoughts and prayers for Diane.

Yay a new thread!!!!

Didn't have time to weigh in this morning. I was running late. But I don't think I lost anything only because I messed up the experiment. The experiment causes for strict discipline and while I can do it during the week, the weekends were horrible.

Right now though, I feel like this . I don't know what I ate yesterday but any minute now I know I'm going to . I would love to go ahead and stick my finger down my throat but I absolutely hate doing this . So, I'm going to wait until my body forces me to do this .

If this post makes you want to , I'm sorry. Welcome to my world this Monday morning.

Hiya foxes!

Well, yesterday was weird.

After a bit of activity in the morning, I finally got out and went to the gun show. I only one one gun, a Taurus 9 mm semiautomatic pistol, and basically just use it for target practice. It's also available for self-protection if the need arises in my apartment, which is doubtful but possible. I am not a collector or anything although I may get something else in the future; maybe a revolver or a rifle. Guns are really expensive though. I went to the show mainly to just browse and see what's available, and buy some accessories. I picked up a few dozen targets for use in the range (a lot cheaper there than buying at the range), some ear protection, a little gizmo to help load clips, a spare clip, and a knife sharpener. They have lots of knives at gun shows too. Also got some beef that I'll have as a snack sometime ... beef-jerky type stuff. Wasn't too bad.

After that I headed to Wal-Mart to pick up some ammo, since none of the prices there were great. Wal-Mart had stuff usable for target shooting for pretty cheap (box of 100 rounds for under $12). I hit a grocery store to get a few things I needed for the taco salad and headed home. After "dinner" and hanging out a bit, I headed to the gym to meet Nirav to get my weight-training workout in. I had initially planned on wearing shorts & t-shirt to the gym and back, but decided since it was cold - and since I was considering hitting a grocery store again to pick up some stuff to make flax muffins with - I wore the jeans/sweatshirt I had been wearing. This turned out to be a good thing later on.

I got through the workout, doing my pseudo slow-burn type stuff. After leaving, I hit the nearby grocery store and found what I needed. I hopped back on the road to head home, but the car was acting ... funny. Not a good funny either. It seemed to be shaking too much. I stopped at a traffic light and all seemed normal - the engine sounded fine. I started moving again and it got worse. I pulled off onto a side road, which happened to be near a TGI Friday's, to take a look. About that time I received a text message from my friend Kelly who was passing by, and wanted to know if I wanted to join her for a bite to eat (how convenient). So she stopped by, and as I was waiting for her to arrive, I found out what the problem was - I'd run over a nail and had a flat tire. So I pulled the car slowly into a spot where the light was good for changing the tire, and then went to eat.

I had their buffalo chicken salad, which is pretty good although spicy. I had about 2/3 of it and saved the rest for later. After that, I put the spare tire on and dropped it off at the mechanic's place, and got a ride home from Kelly. I'm glad I hadn't worn shorts & a t-shirt to the gym. It was about 40 degrees out, which while I know that may be shorts/t-shirt weather for the frozen fox, it ain't for me.

Hopefully the mechanic will be able to fix the tire today; I think it should be patchable. I think that's the first time I've had to put a spare on while I've been out on the road. And while it was a bit cold, it wasn't raining, it wasn't snowing, and I had a friend there, so there are no complaints from me.

Today's menu --

B - eggs, cheese, sausage, too many hot dogs
L - not sure; it'll be from the cafeteria at work unless i decide to skip it
D - probably chip chicken and maybe the rest of the salad from yesterday
S - celery & sfpb if needed/wanted ... I haven't actually gotten to this recently

I weighed in this morning and I'm at 270. I'm just a smidgen under technically but I round up (which I know is insane, but that's me). I will be working out this week on Tuesday evening (weight training) and Thursday morning (cardio), and maybe on Saturday morning if I can get away to hit the gym.

That's it from me for now foxy ladies. Catch yall later!

- Chip

Quick check in...I am back.. Got there about 7:45 for 9:30 surgery. They moved so dang quick I was in and out by 9:30!!! Half my head is still numb and I can't breathe out the left side of my nose.... Going to lay down for a while as soon as I am done here. I have a huge patch on my eye which is already driving me nuts. Tomorrow I go for my follow-up and dr will take off my patch then and we will see how the eye healed from there.

Thanks for the well wishes.

Wow Diane -- you were "in and out" quick. I had to wear an eye patch for one day following my tear duct surgery and it drove me nuts. Hopefully the day will go by quickly for you and your recovery will be quick and without event.

I just finished my lunch -- have to say that the cabbage roll pie is probably going to be one of my new favorites. I really need to try the Rotel/Cheesey Cabbage recipe that is popular -- I know Diane's made that one. It looks like a good comfort food. I added a small (1 cup of greens) tossed salad to my lunch. I've been starving since my breakfast! Now, I'm full and feel satisfied. Dinner won't be until later after picking up Andy from basketball, etc. I've finished 34 oz. of water and am heading down for another mug full. Not much, compared to what some of you drink, but it's a step in the right direction.

Got my powerpoint done and sent off. Now to just finish the process documentation materials for a 1:30 meeting today -- best get busy!

Hi guys! And gals!

Just a quick fox by for now.....I'm heading out the door for class in a few, but before I go there, I have an appointment for a 20 minute vacation.

The tanning bed is going to supply me with a much needed escape from reality. Even if it's only 20 minutes, it'll be long enough to dream that I'm laying on the beach on some remote island, surrounded by NOTHING! No schoolwork, no kids, no interruptions!!! I'm looking forward to it.

A quick personal to Diane ~ I'm glad surgery went well and good luck with tomorrow's appointment. Have a good rest today.

And to Tarsha ~ sorry you're . Feel better soon (and if you want to send me the cyber flu, I'll gladly take it back) The flu diet works well for me.

Today's weigh-in was, ummmm........well, it was exactly what I expected from eating a whole can of cashews and sitting on my butt all weekend.

I'll be updating my stats later today. For real this time.

I better run.....the beach is calling me.....

Evening Foxes!!!
I found someone who will fix my car. I spoke with him Friday right as they were closing. I called him this morning and he called back a few hours later. He said the radiator would come in tomorrow, but no guarantee on the time. If it comes in on the late UPS truck, he would not be able to get my card one. It's a crapshoot. So I asked if he would wait until Wed for me to drop off my car. So Wed my car will be fixed.
I have to find someone to give me a ride to work on Wed after I drop my car. I have a ride home, just need a ride to work. Mark got a ride today and I will pick him up at 11 tonight. If he did not get a ride tomorrow, I have a ride lined up to go pick up the car. I may reorganize that and look for someone to take me to the accounting offsite and get a ride with a friend from there. Friday I lined up a ride home. My head is spinning with all the details!

Diane~glad all went well today. I will continue to pray for you and pray that it is good news tomorrow!! Hope you are getting lots of rest.

Chip~as I was reading your post, I knew it was your tire. I have had that happen on the highway doing 60! Even my rearview mirror shook....it is a scary thing. Glad you were safe and all is well. Could you get the tire fixed? Fix A Flat is a good thing to carry!! Works well!!

Tarsha~hope you are feeling better!!!! Hope it is only the 24 hour bug!!

Tina~congrats on the nursing school acceptance!! Great news!!!

Monica~sorry my blog broke your heart....mine too. Thanks for the kind words, you always have a way to build me up! How was your mini vacation???

Kim~I am sorry I never sent you an invite to my blog. I did today.....don't know how I missed you. So sorry.....anyway thanks for the encouragement. I just don't want to always be bringing everyone my constant struggles. You always have enough on your plate!! When is your surgery?

Lauren~love the Sloanie-tude pic!!!! I remember those horrid days, but can look fondly at Sloane's meltdown. to you!!! Hope your week eases up!!

Rhonda~glad you are taking some days to rest your foot!!! Good idea!! What is on your agenda this week? Where do you go for Thanksgiving? Did you nap today? I love naps!!!

Anyone else have to work on Friday??????
I like working Friday as it is sooooo slow. I get lots of other stuff done, like my filing and I have to do the paper bid and my benefits. We generally decorate for Christmas too....one of my coworkers brings in her daughter and I keep her amused. I have fun with her!!

Well off to do the dishes......and get these darned panty hose off. Gotta put something on that I can wear to bed but also to wear out to pick up Mark later. Not that I plan on getting out of my car, but you never know.

Hi all,

Oh I do hope this is a 24 hour bug. The nausea feeling turned into other things that associate with the bug. I will save you guys the details. Needless to say, I didn't go to the gym tonight. I went and got some Pepto and some chicken soup so I won't dehydrate.

This Thanksgiving I will be driving to Atlanta along with my two brothers for our annual Mario Party-athon. We will be staying over my cousin's house. There is a new Mario Party and we are so looking forward to playing. This is why I can't be sick. Hopefully in the morning, I will feel a lot better.

Like Lauren, I don't plan on being on plan or doing my experiment during Thanksgiving. The good news is they have a Gold's gym 8 miles away from where my cousin stays so I will be getting my exercise in. When I get back, I will have to step it up because it's two weeks before the play. Rehearsal will resume on Dec. 1.

Monica~Enjoy your 20 minutes at the beach!

Nancy~I'm glad you found someone to fix your car.

Chip~Again, I can't tell you how much I am enjoying your pics...you look great!

Diane~Wow that surgery was quick. I'm glad all went well!

Rhonda~I can't imagine going to the gym that early.

Lauren~So did Sloane eventually calm down? Even when she's having a fit, she's a cutie.

Kim~I think that's a great idea to stay away from the scale. I hope you got your powerpoint presentation done.

Tina~How are you doing today?

Looks like this will be a sleepless night due to my stomach problems...I hope all is well with everyone else!

I'm such a dope. I had both the old and new thread open this morning and I posted on the wrong one. From the personals, I gather that everyone saw it anyway,so I won't repeat.

For those who asked, yes, Sloane calmed down and actually fell asleep on the way home. I tried to time the mall trip during her nap time so that she would sleep, but instead she turned into a crank. I'm leaving her home when I hit the sales on Friday, but that's more because I need to go to work afterward.

Work was insane today. I looked up at the clock at 4:35 and realized that I had to leave and grab the kids. I could have easily spent another couple hours working, but there's always tomorrow.

Diane, I'm glad your surgery went well. And thank you for the gum I'm going to be needing it. I didn't do well with the Great American Smokeout, but I intend to go through with my plan to quit on Thanksgiving, even if it means using the patch instead of just going cold turkey as I had intended.

Rhonda, I'm glad you were able to figure out a way to get a workout in. How was physical therapy?

Tarsha, I hope you're feeling better before Thanksgiving. You'll have to give me a review of the new Mario Party. Corwin FREAKS OUT when his coins and stars get stolen and Bowser is supposed to be meaner than ever in this one. You let me know if you think it will cause him fits.

Kim, that cabbage roll pie sounds great. I'm drinking a shake for dinner as I type and I'd much rather be eating that. Or the rotel recipe that Diane posted...

Nancy, I'm glad you found someone to fix your car. It sounds like your life without it will be a pain. And yes, as I mentioned above, I have to work on Friday, too. I don't mind it much either. It's a nice quiet day that usually gives me time to write -- and since the stores open early, I can still hit some of the sales.

Monica, did you enjoy your mini-vacation? A ton of tanning salons have opened over here recently. I have no idea why they're necessary. Sorry about the scale. Nuts always get me. At work, I can buy a one serving size bag of peanuts or a three serving size bag of mixed nuts. Whichever I get, I always eat the whole thing. I could easily eat a pound of cashews.

Chip, thanks for starting the new thread, even though it confused me this morning Sorry about the flat tire. It always sucks when that happens at night and there's no where to get it fixed.

Tina, how was your day?

Yep, the vacation was great. Certainly not long enough, but it was warm and peaceful and exactly what I needed.

Class went well, although everyone was a little goofy and out of it from spending the weekend working on the care plans. Even a couple students still hadn't been to bed since Saturday. Now that's procrastination.

And now that Monday is about over, I am officially on my Thanksgiving break! I don't have class again until next Monday, although I will still need to do homework and reading throughout the week. YAY!

So, today's menu:
B~Atkins shake (and soon to be a different brand since they have discontinued the Atkins ready to mix shake powder ) Any suggestions?
L~grilled chicken salad
D~hot dog w/melted cheese, pumpkin flax muffin

Pokemom, I couldn't figure out where everyone was talking about Sloane's meltdown so I went back and read all of the last few pages of the old thread thinking I had missed her crisis somewhere and then realized it was your blog. I'm glad she's doing better. Tanning salons in Hawaii? That's odd. Very, very odd. Do they stay in business?

Tarsha, feel better girlie! But...if you should need a nurse.... Are you taking tomorrow off work? Were you off today? Hopefully the pepto will do the trick for ya. Sorry you're sick.

Nancy, YAY ~ someone to fix your car that even has a radiator!! That's good news! You have a crazy ride schedule...wow, good luck keeping all that straight. I don't have to work on Friday, but I will be combat shopping at the one store we have with the rest of the community. What are your plans for Thanksgiving?

Rhonda, enjoy your time off! Is it the whole week? I'm sure your ankle will thank you and hopefully repair itself so you can get back to your usual routine. I'm dying to know what time you go to bed to wake up so early. Wow! I can't decide what to do with my hair. I'm trying to grow the top out and go for a new look, but it's driving me nuts in the meantime. We'll have to see what kind of mood I'm in tomorrow when I walk in the salon.

Kim, congrats on getting the powerpoint done! I love it when I feel like I've accomplished something big. What did you end up having for dinner? I'll have to check out the cabbage roll pie. Is that from Linda Sue's?

Diane, hope your day went well and you got lots of rest. Let us know how the doctor appointment goes.

Chip, sorry about the flat tire. That stinks. Good thing you were dressed like that...I can't imagine how frigid 40 degrees must be. Congrats on the weigh in this morning. You are so precise rounding your numbers up like that. You won't catch me doing that.

Tina, how are you?

Well, tomorrow, both the dog and I will get groomed. She goes in at 8, I go in at 1. I may help out in M&M's classroom for a while in the morning, and then after school I'm watching a friend's 5 year old boy for the afternoon/evening. Kayla has BB practice tomorrow night too. So much for my break.

I'll catch you all in the morning! Time for bed.

Good Morning.....

When I went to pick Mark up at 11 last night there were a bunch of crazies camping outside Best Buy, for the XBox 360. The store does not reopen until 9 this morning. While it was pretty mild weather yesterday, it got very chilly during the night and at some point began to rain. These people had chairs, blankets, food and drinks....but I did not see anyone with umbrellas. I searched hard to find a parent in the mix, the majority of the mix was male and in their late teens to twenties.
I guarantee that all those people will not get an XBox at this point.....and Mark said they sold alot of the games for the system in the past few days. I feel bad that so many will be disappointed this morning.

Anyway, off to get ready for work......Have a great Tuesday!!

I'm not in much of a mood for personals. I'm in a mood to rant and scream and cry, but I will not....

On top of everything else, I lost 4 pounds this week, so it takes the edge off all the other stuff

I guess it's time to explain alittle about my moods. My DS Justin has been having a tough time lately. He is going through some stuff and having a hard time dealing with it. As much as I try to think of a way to say it, I can't find the words. It's also something I can't discuss on a public forum like this. If it was just us Foxes, I'd be fine with it...but we all know that is not the case. Let's just say...what he is dealing with has lead to depression and anger. I was scared Justin was going to hurt himself, so I called his Dr and told her everything. She handled it so great. We went last evening. She wants Justin to go to a counselor and told Justin why. He seemed OK with it, he said he wasn't angry with me for taking him to the Dr and actually seemed to appreciate that I did. Justin and have grown closer through all this. Probably because John won't talk to him about it and well, who loves their sisters at age 13 anyway? I have let him know that I love him no matter he does in life and I think he knows I'm true to my word. He trusts me more than he used to because I've kept close to him even though he feels like distancing himself from everyone. Anyway, the tension in my family is unbearable at times. I want to run away at least a couple times a week. But, here I am, holding our family together. I think it would fall apart if it were not for me, in fact...I know it would.

But despite everything else...I have been completely on plan ever since I started weight watchers. I am 4 pounds away from being at my lowest! I admit, I do not drink enough water, but I'm getting better. I have also not been exercising and can't see me getting into it anytime soon, which I wish I could get that energy. But foodwise...I am doing great. I, like Lauren, can't eat breakfast because it makes me so hungry by 10am...I drink a slimfast (optima) and eat a good lunch, then a light dinner. I try to use more points at lunch because I feel I can burn them off easier than at dinner.

Well, my SIL and her son are here, they spent the night, so I should visit...

Good Morning Foxes!
If last night is any indication of what's to come for the next few months......well, it's gonna be busy. I had forgotton Jessie had Girl Scouts last night so that meant, pick up Andy at 4:45, make dinner, bring her to Girl Scouts at 6:00 and then pick her up again at 7:30. Then, my Dad called on his way home from work (2 hour time difference so it's hard to get a hold of each other) and I talked to him until 8:30. Where did my night go?

I ended up having a slice of prime rib and cauliflower "potato" pancakes for dinner. I used an ice cream scoop and made 2 scoops of leftover mashed cauliflower -- flattened them out and then sauteed them in butter. Ohhh - they tasted similar to potato pancakes. Yummy dinner!

Nancy - sooo glad to hear you found someone to fix your car -- sorry it isn't until Wednesday though. They had stories all over the news this morning about Best Buy stores that opened at midnight to long lines of people buying the XBOX 360's. Thankfully, that isn't something my kids want (or will ever get).

Monica -- enjoy your mini-break from school. You need it! Yep - the cabbage roll pie is a LindaSue recipe -- it's in the ground beef section.

Tarsha - hope your 24 hour bug is on it's way out the door. Your trip with your brothers sounds like fun -- don't want to miss out on the Mario Party event. Sounds like a good time!

Diane -- hope your eye is feeling better today -- I'm sure you're anxious to get the patch removed. Take care and get lots of rest -- just let everyone else do everything for you.

Lauren - good luck with your plan to quit smoking on Thanksgiving!

Hi to Tina, Chip & Rhonda! Hope everyone is having a great week.

I've got a 4-day weekend as well as the kids. I've always gone shopping on Black Friday, but no money this year so I'll be staying home and getting the Christmas decorations out of the basement. The kids are always anxious to get the tree and my Dickens Village up. Andy has practice at 9:00AM I think and then we have a tournament on Saturday at my sister's old high school. My mom is off that day so we'll probably hang out with her for a bit on Saturday -- she'll probably come to the games with us and we'll do "lunch" afterwards.

Gotta get busy -- it's gonna be a busy, but quiet day. Two of my co-workers are already off for the holiday so our little corner of the floor is gonna be pretty vacant today.

Hey Foxes!

I figured I should do a quick post before the day starts... It's bound to be busy and chaotic today. I'm working on three things at the same time and scrambling to get all my interviews done by tomorrow just in case I can't reach anyone on Friday.

I've been strict with myself for the past two days and now I'm back to 145, just a 1/2 pound up from my low. If I can manage to ignore my hunger for another day or two, I should be back there... Last night was rough. I tried to do a shake for dinner, but that wasn't enough, so I ate a protein bar and it still wasn't enough, so Corwin and I shared a can of Carb Clever peaches.

Today I'm going to try to eat more during the day so that a shake for dinner won't seem so sad. I know Atkins suggests eating when you're hungry, but I'm just going for instant gratification before I blow it again on Thanksgiving. Actually, it's possible that our Thanksgiving is going to be spent at the hospital with my aunt and her family, in which case, I'm certainly not going to splurge on hospital cafeteria food. I still need to sort through that with my mom.

Anyway, I'd better be off. I'll come back tonight for personals.

Hello! A quick fox-by for me this morning too.

I have a couple hours before I need to be back at M&M's classroom to volunteer, so I'm gonna run to town and look for some shoes for the kids. I have an appointment for them to have professional pictures done tomorrow afternoon with Lucy and need to get some finishing touches to their outfits.

And I also need to figure out what to do about Thanksgiving.....my Mom isn't having us over for dinner until Friday (her and my step-dad prefer to spend their holidays alone) and we don't have any other plans for Thursday. We invited Dan's mom over, but she's going to his brother's house and the brother didn't bother to invite us too.....so......

I don't know if I want to go through the whole ordeal of cooking up a huge meal for just us or if we should just bypass the whole Thanksgiving thing this year. I'm more of a "spend the holiday's with friends and family" kind of person and with no plans set for Thursday, it's kinda had me down in the dumps lately.

I miss the childhood days when all the families got together and we had big feasts and celebrations and all the cousins played together. I wish my extended family was a little more "family-like" and enjoyed each other like I do.

So, I am considering taking the kids to a movie on Thursday. Yours, Mine, and Ours starts tomorrow and I need to check and see if our theater will be open on Thanksgiving. So far, that's what I've come up with......popcorn for dinner. Sounds good to me.

Okay, I better hit the store before I'm out of time. I'll be back later today or tonight with personals and my menu.

Monica

Finished my lunch -- had lunch with my boss and 2 other co-workers today. It's Turkey Day here at work -- we all get a frozen turkey on the way out the door. Actually, we just drive through the horseshoe-shaped entrance and hand over a ticket and the turkey gets put in the car. All employees + retirees get turkeys so they have one of the parking lots roped off for the retirees and are serving coffee and bars in the lunchroom for them.

I'm thinking I can experiment with this cabbage roll pie recipe (actually, the "sauce" of chicken broth and cream and come up with a fair substitution for a chow-mein hotdish. I'm thinking I can brown ground beef, onion, celery and add the broth/cream mixture and cook until slightly thickened. Add soy sauce to taste. I can then add shredded cauliflower (cauli-rice) and bake it until done. Might be an experiment this weekend.

Tonight is Biggest Loser on tv so I'll walk the treadmill during that. And the American Music Awards are on, so I'm sure I'll watch that too.

Gotta run to a meeting -- hope everyone is having a great day!

Hi all,

Quick post from me...my stomach is still bothering me so it looks like another day of no gym. Out of all the weeks to do this, it waits until Thanksgiving week.

I should be heading out for Atlanta tomorrow morning. I believe my cousin has internet so I should be able to check in from there.

I will try and check in later...

Tarsha...did you send the cyber bug this way because I'm feeling awful right now...I hope you get feeling better, I imagine your body is just aching to get back into the gym by now...

Kim..your recipe sounds good. Of course, to me anything with cauliflower and cabbage is a good thing...Do you read the Harry Potter books too? I loved the movie, but they don't even compare to the books...but no movie ever does

Monica...how do your kids feel about no Thanksgiving dinner? I guess I'd just do something the whole family wants to do, whether it's dinner or movies and popcorn...but take it easy on that pocorn, missy

Lauren...you sound like you have the munchies like me I hate the munchies...it's like nothing satisfies me. I eat even though I'm not hungry...

Nancy...I cannot imagine working in a store this time of the year There are alot of crazy people out there. I wanted to ask if you'd like to get together sometime for coffee or dinner or something?

Diane...I'm so glad the surgery went well. I was always so amazed by cataract surgery when I was working at the eye dr. It was pretty awesome doing the post-op visit. So many saw results right away...was incredible.

Rhonda...it's about time you take some time off...you need to let your ankle heal. I go to PT tomorrow...that is IF my Dr sends the letter to them authorizing PT. So far, she hasn't and they won't let my be evaluated if they don't get that letter because my insurance won't pay if it's not approved...

Chip...did you get your car fixed. BTW, I don't think I've told you how great your avatar is...very very handsome. I couldn't believe how much change there is in you even since July

Would you believe that I've been married 16 years I don't feel old enough to be married that long. Our anniversary is on Thanksgiving this year. I doubt we will be going to dinner for our annivesary on Thursday though, we'll probably do something on Friday since we'll be going to my Aunts house on Turkey day...then we are going to my Mom's house on Sunday to celebrate Thanksgiving...I hope I have the willpower to stay strong both days

Well, have a nice evening...
