"All I Want For Christmas Challenge" week of November 13th

Hi everyone and to a new week

We sure had lots of posting last week which is really awesome! Let's keep up the good work this week

I need a volunteer for NEXT week's exercise...or I'll have to get mean and pick someone..lol...we have lots of lurkers on this thread too so if any of you have any good ideas, jump in ! you might surprise us! and you might have fun joining us

Sherry..you had asked me about some further abdominal exercises. I think for what we were talking about (the diastasis recti) your best course of action is to strengthen the core muscles. Pilates is really good but with a gazillion kids like you have, I doubt you have the time to spend doing a pilates dvd...plus, it can be discouraging at first..it's hard...the first time I did the dvd I have I actually burst into tears ten minutes into it it hurt so much! (OK, OK..I'm a big baby..lol) I couldn't do any of the moves.. But here is a single exercise you can do for the core that is simple and not particularly time consuming. It was featured in the last LowCarb Energy magazine that I have. So everyone...here is our exercise of the week

Leg Press
1. Lie on the floor, knees bent and soles on the floor. Raise your right leg off the floor with the knee still bent until your leg forms a 90-degree angle. Rest your right hand on your knee cap.
2. Push against your knee with your right hand while pulling your knee toward your hand using your abdominal muscles. Hold for 3-4 deep breaths.
Repeat with other leg and hand. Do as many reps as you can manage.

And..let see...oh yeah..recipes! Let's make this week's theme a little different. If you've taken your favorite dish from some other part of the world and made it low carb...post it here this week! Or any ethnic sort of recipe that is naturally low carb, please share

So come in, post your goals for the week..be accountable!!!! Post your exercise, your menus, your water..anything that you need help or support for..that's what we are here for! You know the drill

Love to all....Mandy
xoxo's

Adorable!

Just got back from Golden Coral. Ate NO bacon, sausage or ham. Nada. Did eat steak and shrimp. Yes I pulled the breading off the shrimp!

I see a sight that sells nitrate free bacon. I was trying to order some but my computer is acting up. Sad to say, I failed to install anti viral software. I paid for it but can't seem to load it... So, if you guys don't hear from me it means the puter is in the shop (again).

Let's see you sinny!

Anyone else notice the title to this thread says the 13th yet on the century club menu it says the 12th?

OK..well, I'll as usual be the first to publically state my goals

Monday: Run at least 2 miles at a 3-5% incline on treadmill or a three mile trail run if weather permits
Tuesday: 1 hour dog walk/drag
Wednesday: 1 hour weights circuit at gym early am and possibly a 1 hour lengths swimming in the evening(gotta check schedule) or maybe just the hot tub
Thursday: 3 mile run on treadmill before work and maybe a 2 mile trail run after work *insert exhausted smiley here*
Friday: treadmill run (faster mile at 7 min/mile) followed by 20 minutes rowing machine.

My routine with our weekly exercises will be the same as last week with the new one added in somewhere..lol And yes Tippy..I'll still park somewhere that I don't work and walk the distance to the lab..lol

I was good with the "Thou shalt not snack" all week last week until the weekend but I'll try for better this week

Now..who is next ?

Cya all tomorrow...Mandy

Happy Monday!

Awww Mandy, what a cute kid you were! And you too Melly! Mandy, I doubt you had a mouth full of teeth at 1 year old, but maybe you were precocious as a child. What am I saying, I'm SURE you were precocious as a child!

I'm home with Cassie today, she was up throwing up all night. I got a pancake down her, I hope she keeps it down! I had the kids this weekend and she didn't say anything but once I dropped her back off with Sue I guess her tummy took a turn for the worse. Sue's worried that she may lose her job today, she found it posted online, so she didn't want to call in... stressful day here!

I got in a jog last night and it turned into a rather lengthy one, I intenionally jogged out further than I should have so I had to jog back, I ended up going about 8 miles or so. I haven't gone that far a distance in over a year I'm sure so it felt good... once I was done! I ate OK yesterday too, we'll see how today goes.

well, that's the deal, I'm going to head out, I'll check in later. I know I've missed three weeks, anyone have a good low carb pumpkin pie recipe? My son wants to make one next weekend...

Ciao!

Dan

HAPPY MONDAY TO ALL!!!

Well....THE GYM IS DONE!! The room is not quite complete yet but the equipment is up and I had my first workout this morning...WHAT A RUSH!! I decided to do a total body workout M-W-F and cardio on T-TH-SA with 100 crunches, 100 pelvic thrusts and 50 of HN's hates me 6 days a week. I am just thrilled with the equipment and was a bit surprised at how LITTLE I could actually lift using the equipment. I'm in good shape but apparently not as good as I thought...LOL I am currently doing
3 sets/9 reps of:

Upright row
Standing bicep curl
Lat pull down
Pec Fly
Flat bench press
Leg extensions
Leg kick back
Seated row

I am using 2 plates (don't know how much they weigh and really don't care). My ultimate goal is 5 sets/15 reps. There are 10 other exercises than can (and will eventually) be incorporated into the workout at a later date. I am going to encourage my son to join me in the workout. He will hate it (at first) and will only be able to use one plate (if that, he may have to use the dummy weight) as he has never done anything even remotely physical (unless you count holding a PS2 controller). It will be good for him and will give us some real quality mom/son time that isn't spent on frivolous things...although nothing wrong with frivolity!!!!

Ok...big boss due in later this morning and we all know that means upper level high maintenance babysitting...gotta go get the juice boxes and cookies ready

Will try to check back in later...have a good one!!!!

Dano..you're right..so I went back to the picture and it says 20 months on the back.. but I think you spelled precious wrong ..looked like precocious

Excellent run btw...I don't think I'd be able to go that far right now..only been doing shorter runs for the last few months. Are we the only two runners in the group?

Sandi..wooohooo! you're own private gym..I'm so jealous! I'm stuck working out ay the gym with a room full of buff 24 year old guys...sucks to be me huh?

Gotta run and get dressed for work

Love to all...M

Hey there kids!!!
Well I had a pretty miserable weekend. I have been sick since Thursday. Felt terrible all weekend. Had to work Saturday. Didn't go to church yesterday but yesterday afternoon we went to see a play at Landers Theatre. It is a beautiful old play house here in Springfield, it's very historical. The play was "The Diary of Anne Frank".

OMG OMG OMG It was soooooooooooooo incrediable. It had some humor to it but it was sooooooooooo MOVING!!!! I had to keep reminding myself as we watched it that everything we were watching was accurate and factual. Truely made me realize how blessed my family is.

Well I have not regained any of the weight I lost and I have not lost any more. But I am happy with maintaining my loss. Eating is on track but exercise is not. I spent the weekend mostly just laying around. I feel better today but still not great.

I hope everyone had a great weekend. What did you do? Let's get in here and post.

Dano Aliyah had that about a week and a half ago and it was a 24 hour thing.....she was all better then. But she threw up NON stop during that 24 hours. Be sure to get alot of fluids down her

I talked to Darrell this morning. He is having a great time in California. He told me that he was showing his son the pictures of Reesey that were on our digital camera that he took out there with him and that Jake was in love with her already. He also showed him pictures of Aliyah and of course Jake wnted to know who she was. Well I about fell over on the floor when Darrell told me that he told him that she is going to be his stepsister I guessed he announced to his family that we are getting married And then he tells me all this over the phone this morning....I guess that was his way of asking for my hand? So when Jakes mom (Darrells ex) got there to pick him up last night the first thing Jake did was run over and say MOM!!! Guess what!!!! I'm gonna have a sister!!!!!!! Dad is getting married!!!! I would have paid to see the look on her face

OK so I need to get to work....check back a little later

Oh Melly--he finally caved in, lol! Good job! Once upon a time I put a little pressure on Mr. TT too (stick of dynomite under his arse). Worked beautifully!

<Wavin to everyone>

HN, sorry about your migrain. I thought you liked this job?

Hi Sinny!

Pizzamama, MIA?

OK, getting to biz:
This week I promise to continue my daily outtings. Florida weather is fantastic right now (sorry snowbirds)! I plan to walk for at least 45 min each and every day. Still parking in BFE and planning to continue the Wallies since they have improved my muscle strength tremendously.

Starting The Fat Fast on Wed. for 3 days. Yes, it is challenging but I have to do it. I have come to the sad (but true) conclusion that nothing else is working for me at the present time. I think I have gone as far as I can with the Atkins plan. I behaved like an angel all week, sticking faithfully to induction, using fats in small amounts, ate more chicken and less red meat and had some salads and in general ate less. The results? None. Just maintained. But, the good news is I am able to maintain what I do manage to drop from the fat fast so all is not lost... Gettin er done!

Melly, you crack me up, girl!

HN, sorry you are still getting sore from the job but you certainly are not too old!! Now take it back right now! (Considering I have 5 years on you...)

Mandy, good to hear you are planning to attend the TN gathering. Hope you like to party down 'cause it is one LONG party! I am looking forward to meeting you!

Oh Sherryyyyyyyy Where are you??

Congrats on your gym, Beach! You can have it!

Been walking my little tootsies off today. Done the urban walk and 4 laps around this 4.5 acre tract. Going to walk it again to get the mail.
