Biggest Loser Challenges for November

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. How are you doing on the Halloween challenge? Give yourself 100 points if you haven't eaten any Halloween candy in either October or November. Not a single itty bitty tiny little piece!

2. And speaking of holidays, what are you doing for Thanksgiving? Give yourself 50 points for planning ahead, and telling your team what your plans are. Where will you be eating, what will be served, what will you eat, what WON'T you eat, what will you do to stay out of the stuff you're going to avoid, what about leftovers, and so on. It doesn't matter what your plans are. All that matters here is that you planned ahead. Then give yourself another 50 points for reporting back to your team afterwards and telling how you did. Did you follow your plan? What worked and what didn't? What will you do differently next time?

3. Need a bit of extra motivation going into the holidays? Go to http://www.he.net/~zone/prothd2.html and compute your lean body mass at the beginning of the year and now. (You may have to guess about your beginning neck measurement.) Give yourself 10 points for every pound of lean body mass that you GAINED. These are the good pounds.

4. Finally, let's do another Make Your Own Challenge challenge. You know what works for you and what you need to work on. Design a challenge for yourself, tell your team about it, and let them know how you are going to allocate 100 points for the challenge. It can be a daily challenge (3 points every day you exercise) or a one-time challenge (100 points for staying out of Mom's pumpkin pie and sweet potatoes). Whatever you need to keep you eating low carb and healthy this month.

And, of course, the regular on-going challenges.

EXERCISE
Less than 500 minutes exercise/month = -100 points
501-599 minutes of exercise/month = 35 points (avg 17 min/day)
600-749 minutes of exercise/month = 40 points (avg 20 min/day)
750-999 minutes of exercise/month = 50 points (avg 25 min/day)
1000-1149 minutes of exercise/month = 65 points (avg 33 min/day)
1150-1249 minutes of exercise/month = 80 points (avg 38 min/day)
1250-1499 minutes of exercise/month = 95 points (avg 42 min/day)
1500+ minutes of exercise per month = 120 points (avg 50 min/day)

WEIGHT LOSS
Any weight GAIN = -5 points
1-4lbs lost per month = 4 points
5lbs lost per month = 5 points
6lbs lost per month = 6 points
7lbs lost per month = 7 points
8lbs lost per month = 8 points
9lbs lost per month = 9 points
10lbs lost per month = 10 points
11lbs lost per month = 11 points
12lbs lost per month = 12 points
13lbs lost per month = 13 points
14lbs lost per month = 14 points
15+lbs lost per month = 45 points

WATER consumption per month (in ounces)
1983 ounces or less = -100 points (avg less than 64 oz/day)
1984-3100 ounces = 35 points (avg 64-100 oz/day)
3101-4340 ounces = 85 points (avg 101-140 oz/day)
4341+ ounces = 150 points (avg 141oz+/day)

MEASUREMENTS INCHES LOST
HALF-Inches lost per month (total ONLY from waist and hips (same for both men and women)) You are encouraged to measure more body parts for your own records but just the waist and hips will count during this challenge:

Add 10 points for every HALF-inch you lose (measured monthly) add hips and waist together for a combined total. If you choose to measure every three months, you will have to be on an individual challenge only. All team members are expected to measure and report their results on the last day of the month. (permanent challenge)

Deduct 20 points for every HALF-inch you gain from the prior month.

FURTHER ADDITIONS AND DEDUCTIONS:

Deduct 1 point for every can of diet pop that is not made with the Splenda Sweetner or another Atkins-approved sweetner. Example, saccharine is not good. (Even if it doesn't stall you). (permanent challenge) (hint: drink Diet Rite)

Deduct 1 point for every 12oz. you drink that is not caffeine free. (permanent challenge)

Deduct 30 points for going over YOUR monthly carb intake goal at all! (permanent challenge)

Don’t forget that posting is an ongoing challenge for the rest of the year. Give yourself 1 point for every day that you post on your team’s thread.

New here! :D

Hello everyone!!

I'm new to the team and I hope that my contributions can help us! I successfully lost at least 40 lbs. over 4 months starting back in April. I have been off for awhile but I'm ready to jump back in and I think this challenge will truly help!!

My goal weight for end of year is a minimum of 220. If I can get below that, even better!! If you read my sig and notice my personal challenge, you'll know why I'm trying my darndest. ^^;

Can't wait to meet everyone!

Welcome Boobear!

Since we have Im'd each other ready you know who I am so I will tell you a bit about myself.

I am 37, single, mom to 4 boys, nursing student, and I have a home daycare. My life is full so to speak and some days I struggle to get on here just to say hi. I started this challenge as just a member of team 4 but when the original leader pretty much disappeared and 2 others took over the reigns for a bit stepped down I took over. Another person does the challenges and I keep track of all the points and tallying them up on the 15th and end of the month. I have struggled with my eating for my entire adult life and was doing great at the beginning of the year and then after about 2 months I just lost it and still haven;t found my way back. I continue to try though and hope to find my way someday soon.

Hopefully Brenda and Bobbi will check in soon and introduce themselves also. My little guy turns 1 tomorrow so I need to go wrap his presents and ice the cake that he will get to mush his fingers in. I can't wait! I will check back in tomorrow and please ask any questions you have or any ideas you have for support to offer or for support you need. We are here for you and are in this together.

Goodnight

Hey Ladies!
Welcome Boobear! It's so great to have you as part of our team.
I'm 37, also single, no children. I'm an office manager at a Chiropractic Clinic and a Mary Kay Consultant. I joined team 4 back in June. I have been low carb since March. I really struggled in October and hope to do much better this month.
For the November challenge I thought I'd let you in on my plans for Thanksgiving Day. I'm going to eat whatever appeals to me that day. I'll be spending the day out of town at a friends house. I'm planning to be very strict for most of the month.
For the make my own challenge this is what I've chosen: I'm going on a cruise this Saturday and will be gone for a week. On the cruise I've decided to continue to eat LC for the most part. I will have ONE splurge each day of the trip. (not a whole meal, just one dish) If I stick to this I will give myself 50 points. The other 50 points will be for not cheating any other time during November (except Thanksgiving Day and the Cruise).
When I get back from my cruise I am planning to really go back to the basics and keep a food journal again and exercise daily. I am looking forward to a much better month. These goals will help me feel better both physically and emotionally. Thanks so much for your support, I really look forward to this board every day! Good Night

A more detailed introduction!

Hello everyone!!!

Okay, I read both of your intros and felt I wasn't detailed enough.

My name is Abbeygail, but of course you know that already. I'm 27 years old and I live in a city called Winnipeg which is located in Manitoba, Canada. Just to bring up something exciting about this place, Brad Pitt was here for a couple of week shooting his upcoming film "The Assassination of Jesse James" and no, I didn't get to see him.

I work as a Security Administrator, but it's only a contract position which is supposed to be ending this month. I hope they extend me though because I don't want to be jobless for Christmas and I would like to have some money for when I go on my trip to visit my boyfriend in South Carolina.

Oh yeah, I'm also in a long distance relationship with a wonderful person named Ryan. I always find that an interesting thing to bring up because most people don't believe they can work. I've been with him for 1.5 years now.

Well, that's it for my intro. Yay!

Question

I eat breakfast at work because I have to get up early and catch the bus. My typical breakfast is fast and easy and usually consists of eggs whether it be boiled or fried. My issue is the odour they emit when I open up my container (not usually a problem when I fry but I don't like to fry all the time). I get so embarrassed and more often than not, I end up passing up my breakfast. My question is...does anyone here have a similar issue? Does anyone here have any suggestions on how to reduce the "egg scent"? I know it may sound like a dumb question, but yeah.

Bobbi...have an awesome time on the cruise and hurry back when you return. We will miss you.

Brenda...glad you found us. I am also glad to hear that you did post your stats. I don't know what happened to them though. I am curious what your total points for the month were so if you could just let me know that I would appreciate it. Every month at the beginning when you are lost I want to reach inside my computer to find you and bring you to the new thread for the new month...LOL

Abbeygail....I like how you have all your points going in your messages. thats a good idea. Also a good challenge for yourself and the pepperoni sticks. Good luck with that...you can do it! Not sure about the Thanksgiving challenge...will think about that and let you know.

I am off to bed...its been a busy day.

Good morning ladies...its a rainy Sunday here. My japanese maple tree is absolutely gorgeous this morning. I am hoping to get some pictures of the kids on front of the tree this afternnon..its a deep red color.

I am getting back on track today...I feel so gross ..I have gained back everything. Its so ridicuolous that food has so much control over me. If I want to be ablew to walk those parks at Disney in January then I really need to drop a few here....more than a few. If I stay serious I think I could drop at least 20 by then if not more. Wish me luck!

We are off to church today...even though I don't want to go. Its not that I don't enjoy church but Sunday is the only day that I can stay in my jammies all day if I want. But we haven't been in a few weeks so I am biting the bullet and going.

Hope you all have a great day!

Where did I miss that you are going to Disney? That is awesome!. I am off to Prince Rupert today. Have had three very good food days, but need to get the water and exersice on track. I read an article the other day that said if you need to lose more than 20 pounds, forget it if you don;t exercise!. That and I take a thyroid med that is known to slow weight loss.
Bobbie must be in trip? Where are you Boo bear...Snowing here today. Guess it is that time.

Happy Sunday!

Well, not really. They're calling me in to work soon. I guess it's 1 hour extra money, but still. I enjoy having weekends for myself! Buuut, I weighed myself today and I'm currently at 233!! Wow, okay. Not a big loss since I started, but still.. it's lower than it was and I'm soooooo happy.

Koosmom, I've been sleeping in and forgot to come to the comp to make my daily post yesterday. It isn't snowing here yet, but quite chilly!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!!

Where is everyone? Just a quick check in for me..its been a long day. Tomorrow is going to be even longer.

I have to tell you though...I went to the doctor today to get a shot that I need to get for school and the doctor laid into me about my weight. He asked me "what the problem? Whats holding you up on losing?" I was a bit pissed off....I was thinking...yes I know my weight is a problem, I am fully aware of the risks of being obese...I have been like think my whole life. He asked why I hadn't lost any weight since I was there 6 months ago. I told him that one possible reason is that since I started school I have sturggled to find time to exercise. He says" well exercise is not going to make you lose weight. You need to eat less...you can't only exercise to lose weight." He actually sounded ignorant at one point. THEN...he takes my blood pressure which is of course a bit elevated because I was ticked off. My Bp has never been elevated so I am not woried. I knwo its because he made me upset.

I won't be seeing him anymore. There are several docs and PA's in the practice so he is off my list.

ok..signing off...see you all tomorrow

I got some good sleep last night. I feel sooooo heavy though. I am tired at the end of the day and I wonder sometimes how I might feel if I was not carrying another person around.
Hope you guys are well.

Hello..

Good morning...

Wow, your doctor is a bit of a prick. I would say ditch him and find someone else too. That's one of the reasons I'm afraid to go to a doctor. It's easy for them to point out the issues but they don't know what kind of work it takes to actually lose the weight.

As for my weight loss...I put it back. How is it possible to fluctuate within a day? I didn't change anything in what I do. Yes, I'm one of those people who weigh themselves every morning. I just don't understand. I am on my TOTM right now though so maybe that's why I've gained?? Does anyone else notice a weight gain when their monthly friend comes to visit? About how much do you notice? Needless to say, I feel very grumpy because of both the gain and TOTM. I hate the bloated, icky feeling I have during this time. Ugh.

Talk to you soon..

Abbeygail...I don't have female issues every month anymore but I have heard of many who gain when its their time. That is most likely the reason why so I woldn't worry about it. I used to weigh myself everyday but for the past few months I haven't because I have been doing so poorly with food that I would not even want to know what the scale said. I seem to be back on track now though so hopefully it will continue. I don't plan on getting on the scale though until the 15th for mid-month stats.

Brenda...I wonder the same thing. I look at people who are thin and think..wow..they must feel liek they are walking on air.

Of to get my patient info for tomorrow and will have lots of stuff to do tonight for that so will most likely not be back until tomorr
