GOAL GETTER'S TEAM 12~ NOV.1-30

Happy November 1st!!

Shell~ I will be so glad that you will be posting more regular . I really miss you and Muse's post. Of course I understand that we all have lives( at least you two have one) LOL Yes you must fill us in on your Hawaii trip. Would love to see some pics too.

Muse~thanks for the words of encouragement. All too often I get caught up in self loathing because of my failures and it becomes real hard to motiviate and go on.
I was watching Oprah , and she had a show where women have let themselves go.
The truth of the matter is abused or misused people treat themselves the way that thier abuser or misuser has treated them . So we abuse and misuse our selfs. Makes sense to me.The belief that has been planted by other's has become our own self believe. That is how we go through life believing the lie of someone else. Oprah said what got her through all the rough times in her life, was the belief that she was a child of God .Truth is God doesn't make junk , and we came into this world worthy because of this, but we let the opinions and words of other's define who and what we are. Thus in believing the lie ,we don't become who we were meant to be and our purpose not fullfilled.

You know I know all this yet it is hard to stop believing the lie.I have to stop or this pattern will always bring me back to failure. Gee! I am getting so deep ,so early in the morning.

Hey Joyful ...

I think we've all been in that place where we struggle. This isn't my first time trying lc ... It's about my 4th. Each time I restart it's a little harder to stay on plan and the weight seems to come off a little slower.

I refuse to give up, even though I haven't been consistent and my weight loss seems to have stalled. I figure that even if I tread water and stay where I am, I am not getting bigger.

I am the only person that I can be fully in charge of and take care of ... I'm worth it. If thinking about those other things helps over the hard parts, go for it! Facing some things I haven't wanted to is a part of this healing process. I have denied how big I'd let myself get and the long term impact that extra weight has on my body. I just can't get past it anymore. When I want to give up, I think about the alternative. I don't want to get bigger. That alone is enough to keep me going.

The things you'd say to me to keep me going are the things you should also be saying to yourself. You should at least give yourself the same kindnesses you offer others. If you do just that much, you can change your whole perspective. It makes you feel very good inside.

Thanks for starting this thread again and I look forward to posting more regularly again.

Here are the results for October:

Teams ranked in order of average points earned.

1. Team 11
2. Team 14
3. Team 4
4. Team 12
5. Team 2

Congrats to everyone who is still hangin in!

I made a mistake on the mid October stats. The 5th place rank in the weight loss catagory should of gone to smartmuse2 for losing 25 lbs.....again..my apologies to smartmuse2 for my mistake.

Hey gals,
here's the most recent update posted from last months results. Well, I am finally back home!! I flew into Pittsburgh last night and then drove straight to class. I was falling asleep during it last night!! Today is my class day so I am catching up on stuff and am going to try to drop by the office so that tomorow isn't so scarry trying to get caught up on stuff there!
I loved Hawaii!!! It was so beautiful. It snowed 6-8 inches here while I was gone so I def. picked a good week to be away! Ill post some pics here later once I get that all figured out.
Joyful, you are def. right about God not making junk. He has designed us with everything we need to succeed. We are so worth it.
Well, I pretty much went off lc while i was on the cruise. I can't really say that I regret it though. I haven't weighed myself yet, but don't think I gained too much. Now I just have to throw myself back into losing. I feel pretty determined though and I actually am craving lc now. Okay, well Im headed to class. Ill check in later.

Just a short post so you know I checked in ... life is still crazy. Snow? It's especially warm here and we're expecting temps close to 70 degrees tomorrow. Too weird.

Hey there!!

Well, I have been chugging water all day long!!! I haven't really been using the restroom much so I am guesing that I am retaining alot...but I'll flush it out soon. It's beautiful today here too. It's in the sixties....strange how weather works! So, we have less than 2 months left of this challenge. Either of you have any goals for those 2 months?

Shell,

I can't believe that it's been almost an entire year already. I had hoped I'd be further along in my journey than I am, but I am glad that I made progress in the right direction. I have been backsliding with drinking my water ... and with doing my exercise. I know why I haven't lost as much as I could have lost.

I would say that my goal as we complete the year is to incorporate exercise in my lifestyle as a daily activity. It's as much a part of my day as eating dinner or taking a shower. If I could do that consistently, I feel like everything else would fall into place.

Here's to drinking the water ... chug chug!

I made my 100 oz today, but it seemed like so much more! How did I effortlessly drink so much just a few short weeks ago? This is very hard.

I was on the go from 6:00 this morning until 9:30 tonite. I am too tired to exercise tonite, but I promise to do my walking tomorrow. I have a goal to see 10 more lbs off before Christmas. I think I can do that.

Hey All,

I am in the middle of laundry and grading papers and thought I'd pop in for a minute too. What's a pilates machine? Do you ride it like a bike?

I think I might make a pot of soup today ... it's all I've wanted to eat for over a week. Nothing else appeals to me. Fortunately, it's very easy to make and is low carb. This version is going to be chicken vegetable. I might also make a small batch of broccoli cheddar (light on the cheese) so I can switch them up.

How are you two doing on your water? 100 oz is still a struggle for me, but I am getting it in.

hey there,
yeah, I wondered what it was too, but forgot to ask. Sounds interesting. I'm doing pretty well on my water. I've been really thirsty lately, probably because I didn't get enough water on the cruise. My aim is from 100-120 oz. of water a day and I typically get it all in. Okay, well...back to the books!

Biggest Loser Challenges for November

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. How are you doing on the Halloween challenge? Give yourself 100 points if you haven't eaten any Halloween candy in either October or November. Not a single itty bitty tiny little piece!

2. And speaking of holidays, what are you doing for Thanksgiving? Give yourself 50 points for planning ahead, and telling your team what your plans are. Where will you be eating, what will be served, what will you eat, what WON'T you eat, what will you do to stay out of the stuff you're going to avoid, what about leftovers, and so on. It doesn't matter what your plans are. All that matters here is that you planned ahead. Then give yourself another 50 points for reporting back to your team afterwards and telling how you did. Did you follow your plan? What worked and what didn't? What will you do differently next time?

3. Need a bit of extra motivation going into the holidays? Go to http://www.he.net/~zone/prothd2.html and compute your lean body mass at the beginning of the year and now. (You may have to guess about your beginning neck measurement.) Give yourself 10 points for every pound of lean body mass that you GAINED. These are the good pounds.

4. Finally, let's do another Make Your Own Challenge challenge. You know what works for you and what you need to work on. Design a challenge for yourself, tell your team about it, and let them know how you are going to allocate 100 points for the challenge. It can be a daily challenge (3 points every day you exercise) or a one-time challenge (100 points for staying out of Mom's pumpkin pie and sweet potatoes). Whatever you need to keep you eating low carb and healthy this month.

And, of course, the regular on-going challenges.

EXERCISE
Less than 500 minutes exercise/month = -100 points
501-599 minutes of exercise/month = 35 points (avg 17 min/day)
600-749 minutes of exercise/month = 40 points (avg 20 min/day)
750-999 minutes of exercise/month = 50 points (avg 25 min/day)
1000-1149 minutes of exercise/month = 65 points (avg 33 min/day)
1150-1249 minutes of exercise/month = 80 points (avg 38 min/day)
1250-1499 minutes of exercise/month = 95 points (avg 42 min/day)
1500+ minutes of exercise per month = 120 points (avg 50 min/day)

WEIGHT LOSS
Any weight GAIN = -5 points
1-4lbs lost per month = 4 points
5lbs lost per month = 5 points
6lbs lost per month = 6 points
7lbs lost per month = 7 points
8lbs lost per month = 8 points
9lbs lost per month = 9 points
10lbs lost per month = 10 points
11lbs lost per month = 11 points
12lbs lost per month = 12 points
13lbs lost per month = 13 points
14lbs lost per month = 14 points
15+lbs lost per month = 45 points

WATER consumption per month (in ounces)
1983 ounces or less = -100 points (avg less than 64 oz/day)
1984-3100 ounces = 35 points (avg 64-100 oz/day)
3101-4340 ounces = 85 points (avg 101-140 oz/day)
4341+ ounces = 150 points (avg 141oz+/day)

MEASUREMENTS INCHES LOST
HALF-Inches lost per month (total ONLY from waist and hips (same for both men and women)) You are encouraged to measure more body parts for your own records but just the waist and hips will count during this challenge:

Add 10 points for every HALF-inch you lose (measured monthly) add hips and waist together for a combined total. If you choose to measure every three months, you will have to be on an individual challenge only. All team members are expected to measure and report their results on the last day of the month. (permanent challenge)

Deduct 20 points for every HALF-inch you gain from the prior month.

FURTHER ADDITIONS AND DEDUCTIONS:

Deduct 1 point for every can of diet pop that is not made with the Splenda Sweetner or another Atkins-approved sweetner. Example, saccharine is not good. (Even if it doesn't stall you). (permanent challenge) (hint: drink Diet Rite)

Deduct 1 point for every 12oz. you drink that is not caffeine free. (permanent challenge)

Deduct 30 points for going over YOUR monthly carb intake goal at all! (permanent challenge)

Don’t forget that posting is an ongoing challenge for the rest of the year. Give yourself 1 point for every day that you post on your team’s thread.

Have a great month!

Hi Shell and Muse!! Well I am eating more vegs and fruit and making my lunch a larger meal so that I am trying not to eat so much later for dinner. My water intake is getting better cause for a while I wasnt hardly drinking it at all. Old habits die hard LOL.

Muse~ it is called a Areo Pilates system. It is like a total gym but, it doesnt have any incline to it. It also has a part that you put on to rebound ,but youi are doing it from a lying down position..

Ok girls it's the begining of a new week so Lets rumble!

Hey there,
Well I started the m/e fast. I seem to be doing well on it. I can't wait to lose some of this water I am carrying around. One thing that I realized is that when I ate whatever I wanted on the cruise I honestly didn't enjoy it. I mean, the food did taste good...but I hated the bloated feeling and I felt SO tired all the time. I really think it helped me realize that I LIKE eating healthy-I love the way I feel when I know I am eating right. So, I tell you this to remind you that it is worth the sacrifice. You don't really want that bad food anyway! You want to feel good about yourself and your body!!! Okay, well have a great day!

Sorry gals, I got called away to do a conference presentation in NY. It was short notice cause the gal who was supposed to do it got sick. Sorry...I left on Tues. and just got back.

Things are going good for me. Keeping my carbs really low trying to get off the cruise weight!

Hi,

Things have been crazy for me too. I am feeling VERY disconnected - from both of you and from my regular schedule. I can't seem to get back to basics with my schedule. Every week has an "exception" and it's been beyond my control (mostly job related). It's been very hard.

I am doing better on the eating (I am eating the right foods) but I am still eating more than I should. I am doing well with water, but not with exercise. My weight is not moving. Sigh. I am feeling quite defeated at the moment. I don't want to post something that is low, but I know I am supposed to let you two know where my head is so you can try to help me.

Right now I feel like this weight is NEVER going to come off and I should just get used to being heavy. I have been at this same weight for a very long time.

Shell glad that things are going good for you ,and that one of us has their head on straight LOL.

Gee Muse, your head and my head seem to be in the same place. It's like one day I have just one thing going good and never all the components going at the same. Very Frustrating. All I know is I am not going to give up the idea that I am really a very thin person who just has layers of emotion and stinkin thinkin to get rid of . Thanks for posting your feelings. Look !good bad or ugly no matter what you are feeling it doesnt matter you have a place to vent or get support .

We are just going through a rough time But, we are not down for the count. We are not defeated unless we quit trying. If it has been done by others we can do it too.
Hang in there ya here !

Goodmorning ladies,
I came in a few minutes early to post today. I am training a new lady at work so she'll be with me all day...so no time to mess around on the computer and post much later!!! It's hard to train someone and still get your own stuff done! As you probably remember I gave my notice for the end of the year in July. Starting in January I will be starting nursing school full-time. I love my job and will miss it very much but it is something I could only do if I did it full time. I will be moving to Virginia at the end of this semester (near Christmas) because I decided to go to school near them...so as you can see...lots going on. okay, she's here...got to run!!!!
starting m/e fast again today. Will try to post more before my meeting this evening.

Muse, thank you so much for posting that format!!! I had completely forgotten!!! Wow, I can't believe it's already the 15th!!! I got your stats, Muse. Joyful, send me yours!!! As soon as I get yours, I'll send the stats in!!

Started the m/e fast yesterday. I have been really trying to chug the water. It's my t.o.m. and I retain water like crazy!! Classes are going well. I'm trying to get alot of the 'end of the semester' papers, projects, etc. done before Thanksgiving so that when I come back I can focus on the exams and packing, getting stuff done, etc. without getting overwhelmed!! My stress level is really good right now. I feel very happy and confident that I have what it takes to make these changes. I really don't think I would be as confident if I hadn't lost some weight this year. It's really helped my confidence.

Muse, don't be down on yourself. You can do this. You are an amazing woman. You have really been so important in my life this year! You have pushed me along. You will lose!!! Don't give up! Stay encouraged!!

Joyful, how's the exercise going?

Good Morning Girls

Well I have new resolve , I had been in a funk for this whole week but, I am out of it now. It's a do or die situation for me. Staying this weight will surely kill me. I am already having bp issues . For me its Mrs Dash and exercise etc.
I will not give up nor give in , my strength cometh from the Lord. I have proven that I can't do this but He can .

I just 'popped' in during break. Exercise is what I REALLY need to work on!! I've been devoting all my spare time to studying and now it will be to get all my papers done before the end of the year. I have already told my brother in law that he will be running with me everyday when I move there!!! I'm actually excited about that!

Shell~ That's great that you will have someone to run with it. That makes it alot better also they can spur you on when you don't feel like it.
