Biggest Loser Challenges for October
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Just three more months to go! Have you learned new habits or discovered things about yourself that will help you continue with this WOE and WOL after the end of the year? 25 points for writing about this on your team thread. 2. Small bits of exercise throughout the day can add up to big losses. Give yourself 5 points for each day that you walk somewhere instead of driving. This includes parking at the edge of the parking lot instead of in the closest space and things like that. This is sort of vague, so you'll have to decide for yourself what counts. The idea is to get in some extra exercise. 3. 2 points per day for posting your menu on your team's thread. An extra 40 points (total for month is 100 points) if you post your menu every day. October 1 is a freebe, since this is getting out so late. 4. This is a special Halloween challenge, but the points will have to come in November. Next month, give yourself 100 points if you haven't eaten any Halloween candy in either October or November. Not a single itty bitty tiny little piece! And, of course, the regular on-going challenges. EXERCISE Less than 500 minutes exercise/month = -100 points 501-599 minutes of exercise/month = 35 points (avg 17 min/day) 600-749 minutes of exercise/month = 40 points (avg 20 min/day) 750-999 minutes of exercise/month = 50 points (avg 25 min/day) 1000-1149 minutes of exercise/month = 65 points (avg 33 min/day) 1150-1249 minutes of exercise/month = 80 points (avg 38 min/day) 1250-1499 minutes of exercise/month = 95 points (avg 42 min/day) 1500+ minutes of exercise per month = 120 points (avg 50 min/day) WEIGHT LOSS Any weight GAIN = -5 points 1-4lbs lost per month = 4 points 5lbs lost per month = 5 points 6lbs lost per month = 6 points 7lbs lost per month = 7 points 8lbs lost per month = 8 points 9lbs lost per month = 9 points 10lbs lost per month = 10 points 11lbs lost per month = 11 points 12lbs lost per month = 12 points 13lbs lost per month = 13 points 14lbs lost per month = 14 points 15+lbs lost per month = 45 points WATER consumption per month (in ounces) 1983 ounces or less = -100 points (avg less than 64 oz/day) 1984-3100 ounces = 35 points (avg 64-100 oz/day) 3101-4340 ounces = 85 points (avg 101-140 oz/day) 4341+ ounces = 150 points (avg 141oz+/day) MEASUREMENTS INCHES LOST HALF-Inches lost per month (total ONLY from waist and hips (same for both men and women)) You are encouraged to measure more body parts for your own records but just the waist and hips will count during this challenge: Add 10 points for every HALF-inch you lose (measured monthly) add hips and waist together for a combined total. If you choose to measure every three months, you will have to be on an individual challenge only. All team members are expected to measure and report their results on the last day of the month. (permanent challenge) Deduct 20 points for every HALF-inch you gain from the prior month. FURTHER ADDITIONS AND DEDUCTIONS: Deduct 1 point for every can of diet pop that is not made with the Splenda Sweetner or another Atkins-approved sweetner. Example, saccharine is not good. (Even if it doesn't stall you). (permanent challenge) (hint: drink Diet Rite) Deduct 1 point for every 12oz. you drink that is not caffeine free. (permanent challenge) Deduct 30 points for going over YOUR monthly carb intake goal at all! (permanent challenge) Don’t forget that posting is an ongoing challenge for the rest of the year. Give yourself 1 point for every day that you post on your team’s thread. |

Hello Hello Hello!!
I'm back and we came in second this month !! Well Done Everyone!! And All you "grandmaw's" Big Congrats to your family Elisa Hope you are having a great Holiday Diana... I know I had a wonderful weekend down south, even though it was rainy, windy and bloody cold! The kids had so much fun and my Ds Know's all there is to know about dairy farming! I got a few bottles of wine and some nice tasty cheese's. But best of all I kept my carb's low all weekend even with drinking a glass of wine with dinner. My water was well below my average but I can make it up. And did a bit of walking down on the farm! I really like this months challenges (I've said that every month) Shame I missed getting online yesterday I couldn't if I wanted too....I was so tired I was fast asleep before 9pm....I would have posted my menu for the day. Does it still count if I post it now?? I'll do today's, 2 hamburger patties, 2 slices of cheese, 1 sausage link 2 chicken wings, 8oz steak, 1 cup of mixed salad (parsley, bean shoots, green onion, baked ricotta) and a small mixed garden salad. 2 oz more of that baked ricotta (YUMMY!!!). Got in a 60 minute bike ride this afternoon and a 30 minute walk this morning and played footy with my Ds for some time this afternoon. The exercise challenge this month works for me......I always park a long way away from the shops and with spring in the air here ( not that you would know...it's stormy rainy windy, but it has warmed up some from last month) With all the extra work in the garden I do, and that I don't count as exercise normally will get points this month. And as for Halloween....I'm an Australian and Halloween is not really "done' here......no extra candy in my house! Easy 100 points for me Pennel |

Hello Ladies!
My menu for today will be. 3 eggs scrambled 2 oz of cream (decaf and for eggs) small grilled steak with 1 tablespoon cream cheese 1/2 cup of left over mixed parsley salad Roast pork with roasted pumpkin and swede steamed broccoli and beans 1/2 bar SF mint dark chocolate. 2 oz pistachio nuts for a snack or celery with cream cheese. I may post my menu the day after in case I change my food for the day. That would be the better thing to do. I'm just hanging around home today...catching up on housework and washing. And since outside is so crappy I'll be getting in 30 minutes of free weights and stepping as todays exercise. May even get in 60 minutes of pilates, if I can have the TV for that long with Ds being home! Pennel |

Elisa you and I are Waltzing around the scales!!!
I too am up a pound this morning.....not enough exercise and water over the weekend. And Elisa, I plan to be a healthy mum for my babies. It will be a very long time before I get to be a Grandma, since I started so late in life. And you know I want too, and being healthy and fit is gonna help me see that day. Looks like all of us need to workout a bit more.....maybe we should set up our own weekly routines and stick with it. I was looking back on my exercise chart and it has been 2 months since I was last down in the shed.......that's sad! I did buy my bike back then and am still enjoying the riding. Remember I did say something about being bored with my routine, but it's time to start pushing myself. I have still been doing weights, I have just changed from 3kg (6.6lbs) dumbbells to 5kg (11lbs) to get things working harder. And hey if you can do 30 - 40 bicep curls in one set then the weight is to light. Anway what do you think? Shall we try to set up ourselves a weekly routine? Look at how much those folks on "The Biggest Loser" show workout.....not that I am saying we gotta start putting in 5 hours a day of working out.....we all have lives to live as well! But to write up a planned weekly routine and stick to it, write up more than you would do, you be your own personal trainer and push yourself, ......leave it your fridge and tick off each day. Pick the exercises you like and do. Like mine would look something like this.... Monday----------------Tuesday----------- Wednesday-----------Thursday Morning 15 minute stepper.------30 minute walk----20 minute stepper------ Rest day 15 minute freeweights Noon 30 minute walk. ---------45 minute Pilates---40 minute weight training Afternoon 40 minute bike ride. ----- 20 minute bike ride -------------------(*30 minute walk) You get the picture....some come on ladies we have less than 3 months and exercise is the key. Keeping carbs low and water high all makes for healthier us but really we must get in that exercise! And yes have a rest day here and there, but see how I have a rest day after a heavy weight training session....give yourself time to recover from a hard workout or go for that walk later in the rest day. Try it and you will surprize yourself that you can do more than you have been! Ok I'm off to get in that 30 minutes of exercise for the morning. I'll stop in after bingo with my menu from today. AWWWW Bubby! Thats what DD said when I opened up your grandbabies page! How cute.
Now I am feeling a whole lot better....we all have chesty coughs so I think we have had a bug go through the family.....just didn't take much notice till I felt drained. I didn't put yesterday's menu in....bugger. We went out for dinner at the greyhounds (we did have a few bets and lost )....Seafood nights, buffet of all sorts of seafood. I ate on plan.... maybe a little too much to eat but it was all LC. I even had some fruit and cream..... all melons and berries of course. And all I ate all day was half of a (2 rashes) bacon, (1) green onion, (2) mushroom, (2Tbs) parsley and (1Tbs) cream cheese omlet. Plus I got in a 5km bike ride...by myself, I did it in 25 minutes I am getting faster...it is a lot easier without Dd sitting on the back I can tell ya! If the rains hold off I'll be getting in another one today!Todays menu I'll post later...haven't really though about what I'm gonna cook for dinner yet...... might just be hamburgers, mine being on a LC pita bread of course. The Egg pie thingy was something I read in here I think. Just get your ground beef and line a quiche dish with it, evenly, then I just diced up bacon, mushrooms, green onions and grated cheese and mixed that in well with 4 beaten eggs and a dash of cream. Pour it in the dish and cook for 30-40 minutes. Oh and I put a light layer of tasty (chilli, garlic, and chives) cheese on top, it was very good and yes Elisa Make it, you will like it. Ok best I make the family some breakfast...why is it that when we go out my children wake at 6am the next monring!! To damn early! Pennel |

Haley is darling..... again congrats..... you will have to fight to keep all the boys away from her....
Got home safe and had a really good visit with my sons...... but they can keep that Michigan weather.... Well, my computer is acting up again and I have lost all my favorites listings a friend of mine is trying to see what is wrong.... my only worry is that I will lose all my photos... I want to burn them on a disc...(I have never done that) but we just can not see how to do it from my photo program so we will be trying to get it done and then will have to dump all my programs etc... and see if that helps....Lighting hit our home a few months ago... lost two phones, a tv, and our water sprinkler system (that cost alot ) and now my computer is still acting up...... menu: B -1/2 cup oatmeal and two slices bacon L - salad D - mixed vegs. and prime rib did not get to health point because we were trying to figure out this #$@&*&^^ darn computer...... So now I am ready to go to bed... really hate to shut down the computer, because I do not know if I will be able to get the computer back up tomorrow.... Going to see Flight Plan movie tomorrow and going to health point early in the morning...we are getting alot of rain...... no that is not right... we are getting too much rain...... over 12 inches..... the last few days.... some flooding has happened in our area... schools closed down early today to get the kids home safe..... what a bummer.... it is from the storm... I am sooo tired of storms and hurricanes.... just want them to stop Pennel that receipe sounds great and I am going to try it...... Well have to drink some water and get to bed... love ya'll diana |

LOL! "WOWZEEWOW 0 miles on the bike"
that would be a stationary bike then? Great time for a typo Anyway the lady who is my friend/hairdresser ( the one I went down to the dairy farm with) she lives 7.6km (4 1/4 miles) and she is wanting to lose 22 lbs before Christmas, and her brother has gone to Antarctic for 6 months but left her his bike. So she cycled over on Thursday and then rode past on Friday and I went early yesterday to see how far and how long it took.....It was a very good ride, mostly on a path. And I thought I was doing really good till a Real cyclist went past me whoosh whoosh whoosh and he was gone! So late yesterday Dh and I were sitting out the front room on the new sofa we just put in and watching the neighbourhood go by in the sun, and Who went by? My girlfriend...riding along. She is doing great and good on her....wish I only had 22lbs to lose but one good thing, she is making me go for losing the same weight and maybe we can time our rides so we meet up and have someone else pushing us.Elisa isn't your stomach crawling up your throat and eating your food before your mouth tastes it? I know I miss a meal or two but to go all day and not eat......I would eat way to much once I started. You gotta find yourself something for brekky Girlfriend! Ever tried Yo-cheese? Strawberries and yo-cheese for brekky is great.....ok! I'll come back later tonight and post my food for today. Pennel |

Good morning!!
This is a "take 2''....."take 1'' is lost forever in cyber land!!! Here is my menu, I ate lots. 2 eggs, 2 rashes bacon 2 decaf & cream 4 hot wings, 1 celery stick & cream cheese 1 oz tasty (chilli, chives & garlic) cheese 2 large "juicy" strawberries 2 oz pistachio nuts 4 more hot wings, 5 asparagus spears sauteed in butter with 2 mushrooms, 2 green onions, 1 oz spicy sausage and topped with camembert cheese. Yum! The last serve of the yo-cheese, sf jello and cream. I did manage to get in a 5km bike ride this afternoon as well.....it was very windy and the ride down wind was easy, even got into 5 th gear, but once I turned the corner and went into the wind......boy was that hard work on the legs! Have a great Sunday All!! Pennel |
