"All I Want For Christmas Challenge" week of August 7th

A new week...a new thread!

Happy Sunday morning everyone!!!! Get outta bed, have that lc breaky and get active! Remember this from last week:

Quote:
Another week of our challenge is drawing to a close now...I'd like you all to think ahead a bit now....refocus if you need to, and I think most of us do..myself included...I'm going to ask you all to pick a very specific minigoal to achieve by the 28th of August. You need to post it here...then do WHATEVER IT TAKES to make that minigoal happen by that date! I want them all posted on Sunday morning's new thread...NO EXCUSES!!!!!!

And I'd like to see EVERYONE bring something POSITIVE to the thread each and every day...it can be good news about your weight, measurments, woe, or it can be a new goal achieved, a new hurdle overcome, or simply something you'd like to share with the group that you found motivational or inspirational and you think it might help your challenge mates.
Today is the day you MUST post that minigoal for the 28th..you have three weeks in which to accomplish it!!!!!! And it's not instead of posting your daily exercise goals, it's IN ADDITION TO!!!!

I'll go first:

My daily exercise goals: Run the route I ran yesterday (approx 2 miles) EVERY DAY of the week plus 300 crunches like cheri described in her post EVERY DAY!

Eat as per strict induction and drink at least 100 ounces of water each day.

My August 28th goal: to be able to wear that size 4 black skirt I mentioned to the Def Leppard concert (on the 28th) and be able to post pics of me in it as proof! lol Right now I can zip it up but the results are quite repulsive..a bit like a sausage in waaaaaay too little casing (It's the fruit and cream that has been my nemesis of late...gotta stop! lol)

Right now I am trying hard to lose this last two pounds to reach my first goal...I'll not mention my weight until I have reached it, although I have no illusions it will be a quick thing at this point in my loss. The last two seem to be the hardest!

OK..todays's task: List one thing here that either you can now do or that you hope to be able to do with losing weight that you couldn't do before..make it interesting!

Here's mine: When I weighed 254 pounds, there was absolutley no way I could be..ahem..on top (if you know what I mean ) I always worried I'd squish dh ..afterall , I weighed 60 pounds more than him !

I'd like to tell you all something..each and every one of you really rock in my book! It's been a few weeks now, and those of us still with this challenge are plugging away and making it happen! For that alone, we should be really proud of ourselves..I am super proud of you all!

Food today will be :

Breakfast: 2 grilled sausages and 2 fried eggs
Lunch: 1 tin tuna with mayo
Dinner: A grilled new york sliced on a bed of romaine with yellow pepper and sauted mushrooms all tossed in a dijon vinegrette.

NO snacking today for me..I think that causes BIG problems for me

Cya all later...Mandy

Moving Beachfires Aug 28th minigoal to new thread:

Quote:
Mandy...you are so inspirational and motivational or maybe you just scare the bejeezus out of me but...I DO have a mini goal for the 28th and that is to FINALLY BE OUT OF THE 150's...even 149.5 will do it...I've been 152-155 since New Year's Day and I am TIRED OF IT. Even with only cardio on my side I WILL BE AT 149.5 BY THE 28th!! I will do it with clean eating (which has never been a problem for me) more attention to my self, my plan and my goals and 20 miles a day on my bike...more if I can get my arm to cooperate.

My goals for next week are to walk 10,000 steps per day, dance for 1 hour each day and take the dog for a walk each day, so to hopefully increase the step counter by an extra 25%.
I also intend to increase my crunches, flexibility and back exercises to 15x2.

Now I have a problem concerning my mini goal for the 28th August. I can't set a weight target as I'm not weighing myself or a measurement target for the same reason. So my mini goal is going to be a flexibility challenge and that is for me to be able to reach my toes comfortably from a sitting position on the floor when my legs are straight.

hi guys

Had a busy day ,painting my dads ramp in 90% weather. I just don't feel like walking tonight as I am a little sore. So my goals for the rest of the week is to eat clean, increase water to 80 oz. a day. Curves 3 to 4 x this week and walk 6 nights ,at least 1 1/2 mile.

Today I had ham and cheese omelet w/3 strips bacon
hand full nuts
double cheeseburger on a side salad w/ tbl spoon ranch dressing(wendys)no bun.
working on water now.

my weight is still up a little so my goal is to get it back down 5 1/2 lbs by the 28th,for my dr. appt. (sept 1) I have to keep it down for a few months in order to get the ins, I want and when I went in june I was 5 lbs thinner so I need to get to work. I can reapply in oct. if I keep it down.
How embarrassing it was to have our finace officer tell me I was denied because I weigh too much to get the insurance. I told him I would get the 13 lbs off, which I did but some has come back.

I'm going on vacation to Disneyland next week So for a mini goal, how is, no gain? Or maybe any loss by the 28th? Does that sound ok since I have been battling a stall? I did finally have a whoosh of 4 pounds, but after 2 months it was not that impressive. What do you guys think? Thanks

Nope..goals need to be specific...and doesn't have to be a number on the scale..pick something specific..ie..something you can't currently do, improving something healthwise by then..making your water intake higher everyday until then...you know what I mean.

Good morning everyone...I'm not sure where everyone else is...must be the nice weather ..everyone is outside enjoying it...I think I will too!

I'm here! Just been a little busy helping to paint and clean an empty apartment. I am trying my best to think of a mini goal for the 28th but I can already see that the course of antibiotics are causing me problems already. Weight is just fluctuating back and forth and truthfully, there is nothing I can do to change that until I take the last antibiotic, and then it takes 2 months to begin losing again. Atkins book clearly states it and fighting it is useless. Been there and done that already once before and had to comb thru the book to find the trouble. Just as it said, 2 months after the last pill I began to lose again--to the day! Even had TOM come and go last week and made no difference so I recognize what has happened and I knew it would. I am not whinning in any way though. It HAD to be done. So, trying to think of my mini goal is really tough right now. Of course I will stay on plan and drink tons of water. I will start to walk again, beginning today. I am trying to think of this as just a little break while maintaining what I have lost and that I CAN DO! I am sorry not to have better goals to post but I would just be setting myself to fail and that is something I have learned NOT to do.

Now, a little story about forbidden foods... DH loves catfish and lately Golden Corral has had it on the buffet, friend and battered with corn meal. He couldn't pull the breading off so he has eaten it about 4 times in 2 weeks. Just that alone has caused him a 5 lb gain and he does not fluctuate weight at all. He was horrified to weigh in and see that. Taught me something too. You can't cheat on this plan because it just won't work, no matter how you try to manipulate your mindset. And of course the more he allowed himself the more he ate the next time and I saw a pattern beginning. He says he won't eat anymore of it because he sees the proof of what Atkins says about being able to gain it back at a rapid rate. Guys and gals, it is true. I have only cheated one time and that was the slice of frozen pizza which gave me a 2 lb gain over my normal fluctuation. I did get rid of it before the antibiotics, thankfully! So think BEFORE you eat!

My Goals....

Okay...here they are:
Continue to drink 1 gallon each day.
Continue my food plan.
Journal my menu in hopes of watching the carbs more closely.
Stay on plan while at camp from 8/20 - 8/28.
Try harder with the coconut oil.
Adding progest cream to balance hormones.
Get thyroid retested.
Post diligently daily even if I have nothing to say....
Start new meds (in hopes of getting off the NSAIDs)
Able to ride my stationary bike for 15 minutes by 8/29 (even if that is the first day I hit that amount).

This may seem like alot but I know I am capable of most of them. The new meds arrive tomorrow. Journaling my menu and posting daily are just a matter of self discipline...UGH! I have an appt w/my doctor for thyroid retest already. The two things I am concerned about are my gag reflex with the coconut oil and my arthritis and the stationary bike....so I decided I would set the goal for that and take a risk worth losing weight for. So Mandy since I will be at camp and unable to post can I have an extra day???? Please???

Where is Delilah?
Anyone heard from Horsenutt?
Where are the men in our lives??
TT keep on going sweetie...
Gettenthere great goal!
Melly One day at a time sweet Jesus....do you know that one? My grandfather sang that at 85 years old at his 65th wedding anniversary. He had leukemia and mild dementia and knew full well it would be "one day at a time" with Him...You can get through it too!

WHOA BABY!!!!!!!!

Awesome goal setting Sherry! and yes.. of course you can have one more day! lol

And..about the coconut oil..I know there has been quite a bit of chatter about it on the boards of late but if it makes you gag then maybe it isn't a great thing to force yourself to ingest Sherry..you don't want to make everyday a chore with t..it may end up being the straw that breaks the lc camel's back if you know what I mean..I'd hate to see that..and to be honest, while it's only my own personal humble opinion..I don't really see any proofit does anything although I haven't read all the posts associated with it. Maybe I'm missing something? Let me know

Hugs...Mandy

Mandy - yeah, I hate goal setting so I feel like I cheated since some of them I am already working on but.....at least I am not setting myself up to fail then, eh?
RE: the coconut oil...I have not referred to my previous or maybe ongoing/recurring problem with candida (since I believe I am dealing with it again)...I had been on nystatin for years w/o much sucess in getting rid of the systemic yeast problems until I used coconut oil as it has caprylic acid. I have been fine for 4 years but after a recent recurrent UTI problem (3 times in 6 weeks on antibiotics for one improperly treated UTI which would not go away) I seem to be having candida problems again.
If candida stops or makes weight loss difficult than I do not care whether the coconut oil actually helps weight loss due to it's inherent qualities or whether it helps me by getting rid of my candida problems.
Just another hurdle.....my gag reflex! LOL...
No danger to my LC WOE from coconut oil! Just hope to lose some weight and get rid of a few symptoms.

OHHHH...did anyone realize some of the posta are gone???!
I will be honest - I only noticed because my post RE: the whoosh fairy is gone!
So for those who have not already seen it....

I have lost another 7.3 pounds!!! This makes me under 400 pounds as off wednesday (2 days ago).
Did anyone have severe withdrawal symptoms from a day w/o LCF?? I sure did! LOL
Could not do anything! because I could not start the day by reading the posts here at LCF...Sorry I didn't post yesterday guys? Forgive me? hahahaha
on target all day yesterday even made it through "girl's night" had lo-carb pizza (my version), cheese curds, splenda raspberry soda and cheesecake for the evening. Saved all my carbs for the fun.
Knees feeling a tad bit better, no flexibility and joints still popping but less pain. I am working on my camp menu so I can stay on the plan while I am gone.
Today is good so far!

Glad to see the sight back up! Sticking to plan and walked again, making 3 walks this week already. Almost makes me feel justified to skip today, lol!

The house we are buying has some pretty interesting history. The disclosure shows a pre-era 1800's graveyard on the premises. Turns out that the folks who once owned the mountain were named Proffit. They are the grandparents of Davy Crocket. On the mountain there is a gravesite with markers, showing the Proffit family buried there. This graveyard was for the slaves and there are no markers. They are not certain where the slaves are buried as they have excuvated the entire property and found nothing. Still, it is in the property deed so I am sure it is so. Isn't that sad that there were no markers placed for them? They think they are buried right out front by the street but no one knowes for sure. Hope my house isn't haunted! Check out this website--this is where my new house is. chelaque.org

Heck, your probably going to want to post pics soon to show off your progress... You are taking pics of yourself, right? So very important! I still can't believe the difference in myself and would not truely realize how far I have come without those. Yes, the pics and I now have a love/hate relationship! Congrats girl! I know you can and will succeed! You have what it takes!

Melly, you're killing me!! But I did scrub the house and super scrubbed the bathroom, floors and all and NOW I have to walk?? OK, OK, doin' the dayum thang. Worst part for me is it is boring but when I try to jog or even dance on it my ankle ends up re-injured. Any suggestions? TV does not help. Lol, I feel like I am just walking and walking and getting no where slowly. Outside is too hot for a real walk.
