"All I Want For Christmas Challenge" week of July 31st!
Hi everyone..and
to another awesome week of exercise, clean eating and doing the BEST for ourselves! This week, I'd like us all to look at what we are currently doing in terms of exercise and ask one question: Am I seeing a difference? Is this working? oops that's TWO questions, isn't it? ![]() If you answer "Yes"..than great! keep on keeping on..but, if you are like me and had to answer "No" ..then it's time to shake it up a bit ![]() There are many ways you can do this...increase the length and intensity of your cardio workouts..walk longer, faster and/or more often...strive to bring your 12 min mile run to 10 minutes...if you run on a basically flat route, run some hills...you get the picture In terms of strength training, alter the type of workout you do with weights, structure it differently, and/or use heavier weights. On another thread, I read a very good article about women and weightlifting I'll post the two links here for your perusal if lifting weights is your thing. It even has video clips of how to do the lift in the second section. http://www.*****************/fun/berardi12.htm http://www.*****************/fun/berardi13.htm Now..on to clean eating! I challenge EVERYONE in this group to one week of PERFECTLY clean eating according to the stage of your plan you are at. Post your menus (with portions) , name the plan and stage, water intake and total carbs for the day (and list net too if that's what you count..sorry..never been a fan of the net carb idea..but that's just my opinion becasue I lose better counting total carbs..but I digress..lol ) IF you like fitday, that's an awesome way to keep track of everything. I'm sure there are other great ways too I'd like to see at least one post EVERY day for this, k?So I guess I should put my money where my mouth is and cough up my weekly goals right? ..ok..here goes!My "Step it up" change for this month of August is to run at least 2 miles at least 6 days a week at a pace of 9 minutes per mile. As I'm off on vacation for most of the month of August, I will not have access to the gym facility I use so my strength portion will be abs and butt work EVERY day , 30 minutes minimum...I'm going to try the Janda sit-up mentioned in the links I gave too. So, for this week: Sunday: run 2 miles (9 min/mile) 30 minutes abs/butt Monday:run 2 miles (9 min/mile) 30 minutes abs/butt Tuesday:run 2 miles (9 min/mile) 30 minutes abs/butt Wednesday:run 2 miles (9 min/mile) 30 minutes abs/butt Thursday:run 2 miles (9 min/mile) 30 minutes abs/butt Friday:run 2 miles (9 min/mile) 30 minutes abs/butt Saturday:run 2 miles (9 min/mile) 30 minutes abs/butt My clean eating goal is going to be a solid induction week with one addition..a small serving of some of the lower carb fruits three times a week. Plus 100 ounces of water each day ![]() I made a really nice dessert last night..I'll have to estimate the amounts..I rarely measure anything ...in my small mini food processor (I'm a kitchen appliance junkie..have 4 different food processors Yikes!) I put some cream cheese 2 oz, some Da Vinci sf white chocolate syrup 1/4 cup? or to taste..blended these till smooth then added 2/3 cup heavy cream and processed until the consistancy of a mousse. Served with sliced strawberries (with splenda) it was delish!!!! it's rich so a small serving was enough ![]() So to all I say one thing: STEP IT UPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love...Mandy xoxoxo's |

My plan is to get back to total woman 3x this week. I hope my back is up to it. And the hot weather has me feeling so weak all the time. I hope I can get it together soon, it's been a lousy month.

Well..Cinderella is back from the ball...lol
Today was my daughter's fifth birthday party with her two best friends..A tea party to beat all tea parties..A proper english afternoon tea at the century old Empress Hotel! And we had a ball!!!!!!!!!! I had the pleasure of the company of the three most beautiful little girls in Victoria
All dressed up in pink with flowers in their hair (seems Anastasia told them all to wear flowers..not jsut me..lol ) and off we went downtown...when they saw where we were going, my daughter remembered that when she was younger we had taken her there to see the queen so from then on, they referred to the hotel as the queen's palace..lol The area they set up the tea is in the grand lobby of the Empress..a huge and very elegant room. There is a pianist playing wonderful classical music on a large grand piano in the center of the room. The host , upon hearing it was Ana's birthday, was absolutely wonderful...really rolled out the red carpet, so to speak . The girls drank 7 up from crystal wine glasses..lol ( the host said it had to be special if the girls didn't like regular tea..lol) and then the assortment of goodies they brought us was astounding..unfortunately, the fresh fruit and cream and some of the sandwich fillings was about as good as it got for me..but oh well..all in the name of this woe, right? So anyway..at one point the pianist speaks for the first time to announce he's going to play something very special for a very special young lady..and launches into "Happy Birthday"..lol and the host brings out a special dessert for Ana with a birthday condle in it..it was very sweet. So..when the girls have eaten their fill of teeny tiny sandwiches, scones with strawberry jam and clotted cream, eclairs, shortbread, truffles, fruit tarts, lemon tarts, etc etc...I told them I had one more surprise for them..a horse drawn carriage ride through the city!!! Their eyes just about bugged out of their heads..lol..so we went in search of a 'golden horse'..lol..and actually, as luck would have it, the first carriage we encounter has a 'golden' horse...we later find out his name is hugh..lol..and off we go for our ride. All the way, the girls are waving to people on the sidewalk and doing their 'royal waves'..lol...it was fun. We stopped for a freshly squeezed lemonade in the harbour and then it was time to head home. All in all, it was a great time. Here is a picture of the the type of carriage we rode in..they are very popular year round here in Victoria. It was an expensive day..but a memorable one ![]() I'm popping into chat for a bit..cya there maybe ![]() |

Melly dear!
I'm sorry you had an emotional weekend babe, I'll throw in my fondest birthday wishes too. I owe you a big birthday kiss! And maybe some spankings <chuckle> Hope you get feeling better, you're a major babe and major babe's shouldn't get blue...
Camping went well, I was with a fellow low carber so except for two s'mores on Saturday night with the girls, we were right on plan. Saturday I got up and took the girls hiking... at 5 and 6 their legs are short but their energy is long... we went about 2 miles straight up a mountain and then along the top. We looked at all the different mushrooms that were out, got a little lost, then got back about an hour and a half later. Afterwards I went for a nice little 10K jog, the first jogging I'd done in three weeks (hanging head in shame). Then it was off to the pool to throw around said 5 and 6 year olds for awhile... I was pretty exhausted that night! Mandy, what an incredibly special birthday you gave your daughter, she'll cherish that memory her whole life! My daughter's birthday is in two weeks, I need to get thinking about what to do for her and with her. The queen stables her horses here in Lexington, maybe we can go up and see them to keep in line with the princess theme! OK you other elves, I'm seeing a whole lotta nothin' out there so far this week! I know, it's early... but get in here and post! Talk to you soon... Dano |

I think I'm going to have to review my step count! Doing no more than my normal daily routine I've clocked up 16,594 from 8 o'clock this morning until now 9 o'clock this evening. Now before anyone asks my step counter is a good one not for example one of those given out at Macdonalds! Stayed on my eating plan today even with a trip to Macdonalds. Zoe had her fish finger happy meal and I shared a quarter pounder meal with my mother in law, I ate the burger minus the bun, she had the fries and Zoe polished off the bun itself and for my drink I had a bottle of mineral water.

Melly - belated birthday wishes girl! Hope it was great.
Mandy - daughter's b-day sounds great! Will work on the email again. Sorry I have not been here I guess I am depressed....cannot seem to lose and TOM is here and I can barely walk from computer to the bathroom due to my arthritis. Family camp is in 3 weeks and if I cannot walk there is no way I can drive the 8 hours - can't lift my right leg to hit the brakes - or walk from the cabin to the dining hall or the bathroom. Hubby had his 50th b-day so I am also feeling old....must be the arthritis, husband's age and in the nursing home combination. Water fine eating on plan excercise sucks coconut oil is nasty and I have not lost either inches or pounds. and my attitude needs adjusting... Sherry |
