Good morning Beth & Maw
Hard to believe it's May already - this year is just flying by! I can tell that I didn't drink enough yesterday to compensate for my 3.5 hour KF class since I'm sore today...didn't get the lactic acid flushed out. Oh well, I'll up it today and might actually to 100 for a change lol Laundry & more packing for me today! Have a great sunday! |

And a merry, merry month of May to you all, too!
I sent in our stats. Unfortunately, Morgan didn't send in hers, so we don't get the extra points this month. Are you still with us, Morgan? Hope so. I know that things are hectic with you at the moment. I may be moving in a couple of months myself, so things may be picking up here, too! Have a great day and a great month! maw |

Beth - I don't post much about my struggles, and I can tell you that boredom is a HUGE struggle for me right now - so the recipe challenge is probably a *sign* that I need to try more. So I"m shooting to try 2-3 new ones a week.
Ok...so now that the word struggle has been mentioned...here goes... ' Boredom & impatience are really starting to get to me. I thought "try whole foods plan" and that didn't work, just made it very easy to get off plan. I know that the meat & egg fast I just can't do, I could do fat fasting, hell I can even do juice fasting with no problems. So why in the hell can't I get back on track with what I KNOW works for me, why do I keep looking elsewhere as if the 'grass is greener' on some other plan. I used to keep a 100% Atkins friendly cupboard, but then I'd buy fruit, or instant rice, and potatoes and, and, and you name it. So while Packing I took all non-atkins friendly stuff and am giving it to my mom. My new home will be atkins friendly and if I really **Have** to give in then I'm going to have to go out to do it, I can't keep making it easy on myself by having everything here so I can cheat easily. I have to make it that it's more of a pain to go cheat than it is to stay on plan. I have 2.5 hours until I have to be at the title company - Yikes...it's real!

Cleaning out the cupboards sounds like a great idea, Katie! I know that the only thing that has saved me on several occasions has been the fact that I only have Atkins friendly food in the house.
Sure, Beth, I know that the weather changes there frequently - but usually to something worse! Can you believe that the recipe challenge was my idea? You guys know how I love to cook and try new recipes. I brought a whole bunch of them back from Aunt Helen's, and have tried quite a few. Well, three or four at least, but then I haven't been back for very long! The last one I tried was for Beef with Sauerkraut. I'm not really a fan of sauerkraut, but it seems that so many people here talked about fixing it, so I thought I'd give it another try. For some reason the beef recipe sounded better than the more traditional pork. It turned out pretty good, actually. I might even make it again. Tonight I'm going to try Linda Sue's White Castle Hamburger Pie, which is basically a cheeseburger quiche with onions. We'll see how it is. Sure wish that Deb and Lasi and Morgan would check in with us! Katie and Beth - would one of you please send in the end of May results? I'll be Atlanta for Memorial Day weekend, and won't get back til the first. I'll send you my results before I leave. As I said, I'm thinking of moving to Western Washington. Know anyone out there? I have no idea where I would move to, and would appreciate some informed (and/or biased) information. Have a great day! maw |

Hi Everyone!
I've been spending very little time near my computer the past couple of days since I was really into a book that I picked up at a yard sale several weeks ago. I'm the type of person that once I am into something, I am stuck in it until it is finished. That's why I tend to message on this site in 'spurts' as well. I've been trying to get busy in my life now that I am unemployed and have nothing to do. I know that for me boredom and idle hands lead to snacking and going off plan... so I took a HUGE step out of my comfort zone and have started volunteering with several organizations. This way I will at least have something to put on my resume during my unemployed state. I'm still walking almost every day, but I skipped this weekend because it was pouring and my knee was doing a strange 'twingy' thing. It was there this morning too a little when I started on my 10km, but by the end it was feeling fine... maybe it was just something that needed to be walking out... dunno really. Oh, btw.... my dh got the job!!!! Yay!!!! He goes in tomorrow to sign the paperwork and starts on monday! It will be soooo nice to have some cash coming in again and not have to worry so much... this has been a big load of stress off of my mind! Well, that's my update. Now I am off to make another pot of tea and guzzle another few Liters of water before bed! Debbie |

I've got some big news of my own, too. Though mine is more of the stress making than the stress reliving variety.
I called a realtor this afternoon and told him I'm selling the house this summer. That means I have to move. I think you know that I was planning on going to graduate school this fall to become a librarian. Well, I didn't get the applications done. A friend of mine told me it was because I'm too comfortable here, that I like what I'm doing (lots of volunteer work, no paid work) and that what I need to do is to move to somewhere I'm not so comfortable. And then I really looked at one of the schools I'm thinking about and the out of state tuition is horrible! So I decided to pick which school I would like to go to if I got accepted, and move to that state, always assuming a cheaper cost of living. Haven't done that part of it yet, but I'm thinking maybe western Washington because I like the climate. It's similar to here. Anyway, the plan is that I will move somewhere this summer, probably by the end of July. The realtor said that the market is still good at the moment, but that getting out now is probably a good idea. (Of course he's going to say that - he wants to sell the house!) So I spent several hours today cleaning house. I just about have the living room done. My feeling about interior decorating is that if something has a horizontal surface, it's there to put stuff on. And there are lots of horizontal surfaces in this house! ![]() By the way, if Shawn's criteria for what is and what is not "exercise" is whether you work up a sweat, then I should get to count most of today! And, speaking of the rules of this engagement, watch the bloat! I put on 4.5 inches in April, which cost us 180 points. 3.5 of them were gone as of this morning. Unfortunately, each 1/2 inch gained costs us 20 points, and each 1/2 inch lost only gets us 10 points! So, as I said, watch the bloat! (I'd feel a lot worse about it if it weren't that I know that the bloat was because of the way I had been eating, not just because I'm a girl and/or the heat.) Wish me luck on getting the house cleaned up, and sold for a great price, and finding a place to live for a cheap price! maw |

Wow Maw....lots going on!
Hey Debbie - I am so proud of you for getting outside of your comfort zone, thats a big step and kinda scary so Congrats!!! Hi Betzi - If you have a crock pot you could have some stuff cooking while you're working out..then you don't have to find too many spare minutes lol. I signed the papers yesterday, should be recorded today and I'll get my keys. I'm going to get my mom to take a picture of me with my keys at my front door so I'm sure I'll post that later. I'm so excited which is nice because I haven't been for a week or so from all the bs. bbl |

Good Morning!
BUSY day ahead and I need to get going but I wanted stop in and say Hi first! Hope you all have a marvelous day! I'm at 251 this morning so only 1 pound from my mini-goal. No big rewards planned. Maybe I'll go get my hair done or something. As you can tell from my pictures ... it needs it! I do need to choose a new mini-goal though. I was debating between 3.
Guess I better run so I have time for a decent workout before I have to pick ds up from his Karate class. ![]() Beth

Hello, All! Been busy this week what with my normal stuff, 3 evening story hours at 3 different libraries in 3 different towns, and all the fuss about trying to decide what I'm going to do - and especially with cleaning house! I'm on track food-wise, but haven't been to the gym. Cleaning house is definitely exercise!
You are looking great, Beth! 250 was a huge milestone for me. Hope you handle it better than I did. ![]() Bummer on the house, Katie! But it will happen soon. I did some research last night on the cost of living in some of the places I'm thinking about, and I'm afraid that Washington is out. Rats! $30,000 cost of living here in Eureka would cost about $32,166 in Seattle, $24,452 in Madison WI, $22,918 in Iowa City IA, and only $21, 375 in Cedar Rapids, which is about 30 miles from the University of Iowa in Iowa City. I'm leaning towards Iowa at this time, in spite of the heat and humidity! Well, got to get back to work. Have a great day! maw |

Hi there
I got the keys yesterday morning and have been working/moving/etc pretty much non stop. I came into work today at 6:30 and leaving at 10:30 (1/2 day technically) and then getting the furniture moved today. I should be 100% moved in by tomorrow night, maybe even tonight if it all works out. Woo-hoo! Actually getting some work done today so I'm gonna run! |
