This is the new April challenges.....

BIGGEST LOSER APRIL CHALLENGES Posted by MisRobin

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here they are!!

SPECIAL CHALLENGES FOR APRIL:

The challenges for April were picked to help motivate us and remind us of how and why we are on this challenge. There are lots of opportunities to earn points, so this should make it an interesting month!

The first challenge is to go to the Century Club Forum and read the 100, 200, and 300 pound loser sticky threads. If you do this before the 15th of the month, give yourself 25 points!

Challenge Two: Try out a new type of exercise. A new exercise video, a new exercise class, a new type of equipment, a new sport, etc. You have to do it at least once a week for the month. If you want to try four new things, that's fine, just try something new each week. This is worth 50 points!

Challenge Number Three: Give yourself 25 points for rereading (or reading for the first time if you haven't read it yet!) the book (Atkin's, South Beach, Carb Addict's) associated with your WOE. Read the one that really goes into detail about this WOE and the science behind it and the rules for following it.

And as an ongoing challenge to promote participation, let's continue Kim's challenge from last month... give yourself one point for everyday that you post on your team's thread!

REGULAR CHALLENGES:

EXERCISE

Less than 500 minutes exercise/month = -100 points
501-599 minutes of exercise/month = 35 points (avg 17 min/day)
600-749 minutes of exercise/month = 40 points (avg 20 min/day)
750-999 minutes of exercise/month = 50 points (avg 25 min/day)
1000-1149 minutes of exercise/month = 65 points (avg 33 min/day)
1150-1249 minutes of exercise/month = 80 points (avg 38 min/day)
1250-1499 minutes of exercise/month = 95 points (avg 42 min/day)
1500+ minutes of exercise per month = 120 points (avg 50 min/day)

WEIGHT LOSS

Any weight GAIN = -5 points
1-4lbs lost per month = 4 points
5lbs lost per month = 5 points
6lbs lost per month = 6 points
7lbs lost per month = 7 points
8lbs lost per month = 8 points
9lbs lost per month = 9 points
10lbs lost per month = 10 points
11lbs lost per month = 11 points
12lbs lost per month = 12 points
13lbs lost per month = 13 points
14lbs lost per month = 14 points
15+lbs lost per month = 45 points

WATER consumption per month (in ounces)

1983 ounces or less = -100 points (avg less than 64 oz/day)
1984-3100 ounces = 35 points (avg 64-100 oz/day)
3101-4340 ounces = 85 points (avg 101-140 oz/day)
4341+ ounces = 150 points (avg 141oz+/day)

MEASUREMENTS INCHES LOST

HALF-Inches lost per month (total ONLY from waist and hips (same for both men and women)) You are encouraged to measure more body parts for your own records but just the waist and hips will count during this challenge:

Add 10 points for every HALF-inch you lose (measured monthly) add hips and waist together for a combined total. If you choose to measure every three months, you will have to be on an individual challenge – only. All team members are expected to measure and report their results on the last day of the month. (permanent challenge)

Deduct 20 points for every HALF-inch you gain from the prior month.

Further Additions and Deductions:

Deduct 1 point for every can of diet pop that is not made with the Splenda Sweetner or another Atkins-approved sweetner. Example, saccharine is not good. (Even if it doesn't stall you). (permanent challenge) (hint: drink Diet Rite)

Deduct 1 point for every 12oz. you drink that is not caffeine free. (permanent challenge)

Deduct 30 points for going over YOUR monthly carb intake goal at all! (permanent challenge)

Deduct 100 points for NOT reporting your stats on the 15th and last day of month. Email lagpmgdsls if that is not possible so other arrangements can be made. (permanent challenge)

Ok everyone, let's go out and make it a good month!!

Hello Southern Comfort!
What a day I have had! I had my carpets cleaned today, it has done nothing but rain all day and my house is small and I took everything other than beds and wardrobes out of the 2 bedrooms and while it was all out here in the living area I rearranged the rooms, which meant moving the wardrobes around...by myself...all that weight training paid off today I can tell you! But I am buggered, and since it rained I missed my walks today and I just don't have anything left to do a workout in the shed!
Nice to hear from you Nichole even if things aren't good on the home front it was still good to see you are still here with us and working on your goals. Elisa is captain and doing a fine job, so you need not to worry.
We all did a fine job this month....Well done to us!
I like the Aprils Challenges.....I'm up for something new in the exercise dept, anyone else feel like this?
I am glad you think I have great time management Susie, if DH read that I would be picking him up off the floor. I just get things done in my time...if that means I am working out at 10pm then so be it.
I am happy that I inspire others cos I truely inspire myself. I choose to do this for my team because I want to do this for me. I keep telling myself this all the time. My medal for doing this will be Me and I will be showing Me off!
Have a great weekend ladies.

G'day ladies!! it's just after 8am and I have just come home from my 3.75 mile walk...I did it in 1 hour flat no pushing the pram and I only stopped once to look at the river....It was so beautiful this morning, like glass!
I knew we did very well last month.....3rd is very good so congrats to all of us here.
Good luck with your PC Elisa......have 'fun'!
I have been thinking about new exercises...... I have a row machine in the shed that I could find some room in there and have a go of that or I have my pilates disc to start, and come winter when it's to rainy outside I am going to do the pilates anyway.....I was waiting till I was down another 20 lbs or so, so I can do most of the moves. Or I have this big old heavy roller to roll my lawn.... I was doing some last week and boy did I work up a sweat..... I could start one all try all 3 over the next month.
Ok the family is up and awake and calling for brekky......bye.

Happy Monday Ladies

I am so sore today but it is a "good" sore I orked in the yard for almost 5 hours straight yesterday..we went to the flea market and then I came home and I mowed half the yard til I forgot to put the gas cap back on and ran it over and chopped it into many peices lol....then redid 3 flower beds with new soil and flowers....lots of walking with the mowing and lots of lifting with the bags of soil...Little Ricky will be here all day today and all day for the next three days so I will keep very busy with him...
I am not sure about the "new excercise" thing but I will decide today what it will be...PJ and Susie I so envy where you both live it sounds so beautiful to me...the animals. the river...gosh I could just come live with either of you...my neighborhood is full of dogs though lol and 4 of those belong to me and a fifth one that thinks she belongs to me....and they all jsut run where they want too except for my Shylie...she is a deaf boxer so she has to stay home due to she cant hear danger....my dd is off work tomorrow so I think that I will taker her and my grandson to the park for the day...maybe even a picnic....there is a walking track there so I could get that done too by the way I am back to the old dependable 201....will I ever see below 199 will I will I ...lol...well I have yapped your ears off for the morning and I look forward to hearing from you all today...hugs to you all

third place----pretty respectable considering I only lost 3 lbs. I've upped my water a bit and got lots of sleep yesterday--therefore, I'm down almost a pound since Sat. Just a little reminder that this is a process that we have to be diligent about.

I just think we are a great team!! Y'all are very dear to me at this point. I think my whole attitude has changed this year--definitely for the better.

Three more weeks until the state testing--I'm going to be a basket case until then--but I'll try to post semi-regularly.

I love the challenges this month. I dragged out all my old Richard Simmons tapes---old in the sense I've had them forever--have I ever done any of them? Not in years. I tried one of them in Sept. or Oct. and strained my back doing the twist. Then I found WATP... I think I will make the Richard Simmons tapes my evening workout. So many goals..... I feel that I didn't accomplish much last month.

Anyway---gotta go
I'm so proud of you ladies---PJ--your Dh should be in AWE of you. I sometimes have flash-backs of my dad trying to take care of us kids for a few days while my mom was staying with my brother in the hospital. I don't remember too clearly (I was 7 or 8)--but I do remember there was an incident with spaghetti that somehow gummed up the sink disposal as well as the vacuum cleaner . These are the standards by which I measure (fairly or not) all men--especially any who dare laugh at "women's work"

have a great day!!!

love
susie

KB---Please come back!!! We miss you!!!

Hi ladies..... We have a great team here and everyone is doing there bit. I agree with you Susie, My attitude is a lot better since joining in on this challenge. It's nice to share the same things. My sister came over today and a girlfriend and both said that I look great, and the best thing I feel great! Also Dh passed mention of "womans work" today with 3 women in the house.....he was boooed out! LOL! Funny story Susie.
I was thinking of doing my lawns this week Elisa and I think yard work should count cos once I get started I can work hard in the garden and for a few hours.

Hello! My Tuesday was great thanks....Thursday is going to be busy for me, it's my DS 5th birthday and I am about to make about 36 Mullberry Muffins to take to school tomorrow! I was going to make chocolate ones but I am sure the teachers get sick of chocolate cup cakes every kids birthday! And the Mullberries are off my tree. I froze a lot of them this year. Then on Sunday we are taking him and 5 of his mates to the "fun factory" for a 2 hour play before they all come here for pizza and ice-cream cake....alll of this I eat none of! Which is a good thing cos I am down another 2 lbs this morning....thinking thin is working! I have till tomorrow to do my extra exercise for the week cos I still haven't done anything yet....unless you count picking up all the toy's/tools out on the back lawn getting it ready to be mowed.....remember I live on 1/2 an acre so there is lots to do! Speaking of lots to do this is just a quick "Hi" so I must go and start on them muffins. Oh and I have been in to read the 100/200/300 lbs stories and WOW some people in there are truely my heros. I am going to be putting in My Story once I get to the 100lbs club. And I picked up my "Atkins" book yesterday but I don't have much time to just sit and read so I was reading it while I was walking the block yesterday, and you wanna know the sad thing....it's the 1972 book, I never bought the new one cos most of the new ones foods aren't here in Australia so I can't make most of the recipies anyway so why have the book?

Morning ladies--
been a wierd week
I'm tutoring extra students twice a week to prepare for these states tests in social studies. Yesterday they whined about how they weren't learning. I reacted to the whining--because the same behavior they show me--not wanting to work--is exactly why they are in danger of failing the test and why I'm tutoring them. I did listen, however, and have changed my plans for tutoring on Fri. Also--two girls almost got into a fight--turns out one of them looked at the other and she didn't like it.... silly kids

Monday evening I did Sweatin' to the oldies--Richard simmons. It was o.k.--but Tuesday evening I did his Sweat Your Pants off--it's 80's music--a longer workout and really had me sweating. I really loved it!! Can't wait to get home and do it again. Consequently, I'm down 3 lbs. already this week. Yippee!! That's as much as I lost all last month. I think the difference between 60 mins and 90 mins is huge, as far as weight loss is concerned. I hope I can keep it up!! Also--this time of year I get ulcer type probs---this really helps me handle the stress.

PJ--so glad to see that your exercise is paying off so well!! You set such a great example. I can sympathize with the having to pick stuff up in the yard. Last week I had a baseball bat in my yard--and I haven't yet figured out whose it is. I usually have to deal with a lot of branches and fire ant hills. My lot is tiny, however.....
Wow--Mullberry cupcakes sound yummy. Not that I would want to eat any, of course. Happy Birthday to your DS. Good luck avoiding the pizza. You prolly could eat the toppings off of some of it without any problems, though. I love to make the deep dish pizza recipe from LindaSue's recipe site--that's the addy I posted that time.... It really tastes like pizza. But if you make it, I'll tell you--I usually cut the cheese amounts in half (except for the cream cheese in the crust batter). I Increase the Parmesan cheese in the crust if the batter seems too thin. The crust is not too thick but really tastes like deep-dish pizza crust. I may do that myself, this weekend.

Elisa--I hope you and DD and grandson had a great time yesterday. How's she doing, by the way??
Your dog Shylie sounds like my neighbor's dog Pickles. Shes an aged Chihuahua / pit bull mix. She's so old, she's lost most of her teeth--so her tongue hangs out. She's really sweet, but nearly deaf and blind. She got lost a few weeks ago and we were all out looking for her. Luckily, someone found her and took care of her until my neighbor caught up with her.

well, gotta go educate the little beasties
How many days 'tlll May 31???

hugs to all

love,
susie

Hey Ladies. Thank you for my sons birthday wishes...he had a great day on Thursday and he is having some of his friends coming for pizza on Sunday. I think I will be trying that deep dish pizza, sounds yum and just what I need! Oh and his teachers just loved the mullberry muffins....made a nice change from chocolate ones that all the other mums make....I was even asked that whenever I felt like dropping in morning tea for the teachers I was quite welcome too....I think they really liked the homemade not packet mixed cake!.
I did my extra workout....I rolled the back lawn for 20 minutes and wow what a leg workout that is.... I cannot lift this roller so it must weigh over 100 pounds I also mowed the lawn yesterday so that will make the rolling a little easier, which I'll be doing today after my walk to the egg farm after Dh and Ds go to swimming leasons. So busy busy busy...I have floors to wash and bathroom to scrub oh and then there is the laundry to do as well.....so much to do so little time!
Have a great weekend everyone!

I have been here before only to move upward, so lets just see if I can get to 189 and then I will shout to the heavens and give many thanks!!!!!! I frosted my hair last night and I like it alot..should have waited on someone to help me with the back because it is hard on my back to do it lol but I have no patience and did it myself ....good job if I say so myself....and my daughter in law bragged on my tan which made me feel really good too....dang it I just feel great lol...but I do dread tomorrow morning with the doc...we will see how it goes but any messing with my back freaks me out...but they say it will feel so much better.....PS I am finally goona try and take that hip hop and sculpt exercise class lmao...if I can convince dd to do it with me lol...if not she said she will try the yoga!!!!! Hello.....oh my weekend, lets see. I went for my walk with dd to the egg farm and on the way back a car was driving really slow towards me and it was M/L/I and her B/f so I said give me 10 more minutes and I'll be home. About an hour after they got here Dh and Ds come home from swimming and spending money (Ds got "real" money for his B/D and just had to spend it) but that was sort of the end of our Saturday....the in laws only live 1/2 an hour away but come and stay for 4! I had a very late night making lolly bags and paper planes for Ds mates to take home with them (I make the "best paper planes") Sunday was a great day...Ds had so much fun even if only a couple of his mates showed up for the party (it's school holidays here and most are away) after everyone left around 3:30 I took the kids for a walk around the block....I am still getting my walk in! Then Sunday night I was asleep before 8:30 and cos of the way my body works come 3:30 am I was wide awake! I did doz off but by 6am I was up and dressed and off for my hour walk while everyone was still sleeping! And now it's Monday after noon and I'm ready to shut my eyes for a nap but I can't get DD to have a nap now and there is no way I am going to let her run a muck in my house. I have also been and done my weekly shopping this morning....that's about my weekend. Oh and cos Ds is on school holidays I can't go for as many walks maybe I'll get in a few more workouts in the shed for the next 2 weeks. I will be going on Dh's days off, like this morning but I will not leave my kids asleep in the house by themselves..... another lady goes every morning about 6:15 am but she has older kids than mine.
And the pizza's we got for the kids...I had just the toppings off 3 slices and NO cake! Sometimes I wonder where I get my willpower cos I just love ice cream cake!
Well do on getting into onederland Elisa............I would love to be there too, I'm going to get there.....it's only 73 pounds away!! ;o)
