Hot Mamas (Team 9) April 1-30

Hey Hot Mamas

Here are the new challenges for the month!
SPECIAL CHALLENGES FOR APRIL:

The challenges for April were picked to help motivate us and remind us of how and why we are on this challenge. There are lots of opportunities to earn points, so this should make it an interesting month!

The first challenge is to go to the Century Club Forum and read the 100, 200, and 300 pound loser sticky threads. If you do this before the 15th of the month, give yourself 25 points!

Challenge Two: Try out a new type of exercise. A new exercise video, a new exercise class, a new type of equipment, a new sport, etc. You have to do it at least once a week for the month. If you want to try four new things, that's fine, just try something new each week. This is worth 50 points!

Challenge Number Three: Give yourself 25 points for rereading (or reading for the first time if you haven't read it yet!) the book (Atkin's, South Beach, Carb Addict's) associated with your WOE. Read the one that really goes into detail about this WOE and the science behind it and the rules for following it.

And as an ongoing challenge to promote participation, let's continue Kim's challenge from last month... give yourself one point for everyday that you post on your team's thread!

REGULAR CHALLENGES:

EXERCISE

Less than 500 minutes exercise/month = -100 points
501-599 minutes of exercise/month = 35 points (avg 17 min/day)
600-749 minutes of exercise/month = 40 points (avg 20 min/day)
750-999 minutes of exercise/month = 50 points (avg 25 min/day)
1000-1149 minutes of exercise/month = 65 points (avg 33 min/day)
1150-1249 minutes of exercise/month = 80 points (avg 38 min/day)
1250-1499 minutes of exercise/month = 95 points (avg 42 min/day)
1500+ minutes of exercise per month = 120 points (avg 50 min/day)

WEIGHT LOSS

Any weight GAIN = -5 points
1-4lbs lost per month = 4 points
5lbs lost per month = 5 points
6lbs lost per month = 6 points
7lbs lost per month = 7 points
8lbs lost per month = 8 points
9lbs lost per month = 9 points
10lbs lost per month = 10 points
11lbs lost per month = 11 points
12lbs lost per month = 12 points
13lbs lost per month = 13 points
14lbs lost per month = 14 points
15+lbs lost per month = 45 points

WATER consumption per month (in ounces)

1983 ounces or less = -100 points (avg less than 64 oz/day)
1984-3100 ounces = 35 points (avg 64-100 oz/day)
3101-4340 ounces = 85 points (avg 101-140 oz/day)
4341+ ounces = 150 points (avg 141oz+/day)

MEASUREMENTS INCHES LOST

HALF-Inches lost per month (total ONLY from waist and hips (same for both men and women)) You are encouraged to measure more body parts for your own records but just the waist and hips will count during this challenge:

Add 10 points for every HALF-inch you lose (measured monthly) add hips and waist together for a combined total. If you choose to measure every three months, you will have to be on an individual challenge – only. All team members are expected to measure and report their results on the last day of the month. (permanent challenge)

Deduct 20 points for every HALF-inch you gain from the prior month.

Further Additions and Deductions:

Deduct 1 point for every can of diet pop that is not made with the Splenda Sweetner or another Atkins-approved sweetner. Example, saccharine is not good. (Even if it doesn't stall you). (permanent challenge) (hint: drink Diet Rite)

Deduct 1 point for every 12oz. you drink that is not caffeine free. (permanent challenge)

Deduct 30 points for going over YOUR monthly carb intake goal at all! (permanent challenge)

Deduct 100 points for NOT reporting your stats on the 15th and last day of month. Email lagpmgdsls if that is not possible so other arrangements can be made. (permanent challenge)

Let's all have a great month!

TGIF!!

There seem to be several good challenges for this month. They all look good to me and I will be working toward getting those points. I have been more focussed that past few days on my eating plan and will continue to make April a good month (not like March!! )

Betty - where are you girl?

Diana - I hope you are feeling better!

Lisa - I would still love to have you as a member of this team. I really don't care if you are losing weight (for team purposes) I mean, I care about you and feel bad you are gaining, but it doesn't bother me at all as far as the team standing go or anything. I'm not exactly losing a bunch myself But I would, as the team captain, encourage you to post more so we can grow as a team and help each other through the rough times. So please stay and hang out with us

Menu:
B - eggs
L - salmon salad, flaxseed muffin
Sn - shake
S - hot wings, lettuce salad

Exercise - walking 1 mile
Water - 100 oz

Have a wonderful LC Friday!

Sorry, I couldn't send in my stats last night. I tried looking for the stuff that's needed this morning but for some reason couldn't seem to find it on the last thread. What were the goals??? I thought it was there the other day, but I guess I've lost my mind. Haven't lost anything else though.

Today is my last day at work. Not seeing the kids every day is sad but what's not sad is not having to deal with that loony-tune aide. As of dinner tonight, I'm back OP! Yippee, no more fingers in my food and no one messing with my water bottle. Tried eating my pepperoni lunch at the field trip yesterday but hid it under the seat in my vehicle and made her ride in the other van. I can't believe she does the things she does. I had sent home letters telling the parents to make sure the kids wear jeans and sturdy shoes because we were going hiking (geocaching!) and we talked about it for days BUT at the dismissal bell the day before she told them to wear shorts. #$^(*^_(%!!! Yesterday she whined about not wanting to go hiking. Fine, the rest of us went and left her at the picnic table. She had the nerve to give me a snide remark when I told her to get a football and frisbee out of her cabinet so they could play at the park. The whole time she was beside herself worried the ball would get lost. Honestly, that woman do NOT need to be around children.

Thanks for letting me stay. I really want to, but I don't want to bring you all down.

It's another day today. I'm not going to step on the scale for another week, I just can't. It's so funny how your brain gets programmed to do stuff. I've not been eating near enough. Never thought I'd say that to myself! I need to eat about 150 carbs per day for a while. Right now I'm only at about 70. I just can't seem to get past my Atkins training. I'm going to cut back on the soda and plug the water back in starting today.

Betty! No more school? Are you guys out already? Summer's almost here!

Happy Saturday!

We are in for a gorgeous weather weekend here - high 60s, low 70s - woo-hoo!! DH is planning on doing yardwork. He's adding a lot of new landscaping so I'll probably get some exercise helping him for a bit. Other than that, laundry, cleaning, and grocery shopping are on my "to-do" list for the day.

Betty - Man, your coworker sounds just nuts!! But at least now no one will be messing with your food. Hey, the info was in the last thread, so you must have lost your mind Need help finding it??

Lisa - It's great to have you back here with us! Just try your best to follow the plan your doctor wants.

Diana - feeling better yet?

Have a great LC day!

Hi everyone I hope you are all enjoying your weekend.

I have already been cooking up a storm here this morning. DH bought some cookie dough from a kid we know for a school fund raiser, so he has been bugging me to bake them. So I have baked 4 dozen cookies , a loaf of bread is in the bread machine , and I just made a LC impossible quiche that will be scrumptous ! I still want to make my flaxseed muffins and almond thins today too

DS and I got his tux all lined up yesterday and he really looked nice! He hardly ever gets dressed up but likes how he looks when he does. He was strutting all over the store

Menu:
B - lc quiche
L - sausage and veggies
S - chicken, lettuce salad
Sn - shake

Exercise - cardio video

Have a great Sunday!

See, I already have two pts now! I've posted twice so far this month! The April challenges have a lot that I can do, so that's good. Even if I don't lose any weight/inches, I can still have some points!

I wonder if SF candy and LC candy act the same for diabetics? I've found some really good SF candy at Rocky Mountain Candy store and I wonder if it makes by BS go up? An experiment is in order!

Glad to see that I can still post here. The SB website has a BB too, but it doesn't seem the same. I don't feel very at home there. See you tomorrow!

Good Morning

Dang it seems soooooo early!! I hate the first week of daylight savings time, and I'm a morning person. I can only imagine how it affects the night owls

I had a nice day yesterday, the weather was perfect. I didn't get MY baking done so I'll have to do that later this week.

Menu:
B - leftover lc quiche
L - chicken, lc yogurt, celery
S - lc taco salad
Sn - shake

Exercise - cardio video

Diana - I'm so glad you are feeling better Now don't try to overdo it, take it easy so you don't have a relapse.

Lisa - Most of the SF candy does affect me like a regular carb so I try not to have much of it. I thought the same thing about the April challenges - that I can get points even if the scale doesn't move! To me that's the point of this anyway - to improve my health by eating better and exercising more, and if I lose weight that's OK but not the total focus.

Betty - how's it going?

Well, I need to get my butt moving. Have a great day Hot Mamas

Honestly, how do kids walk and chew gum at the same time!!! They should not be let out to see the light of day until 30. I'd boiled eggs; enough for tuna tonight and, the nice mom that I am, enough for dd to make her fav deviled eggs. I told her 5 times to leave 3 eggs for tuna. Yes, I verified she'd left three - the three that didn't peel well enough for HER deviled eggs. I checked again, yes, there they were. Ok. Fine. An hour later it was time to fix tuna for supper so I checked not 60 seconds before starting the tuna and there they still were. One minute later, I turned my back and she threw them in the trash. WHY? No one knows why. And she has no idea why I'm upset.

Betty - that's exactly why I have a special drawer in my fridge just for MY food, the kids and DH know to stay out of it. I hate it when others mess with my food!!

Menu:
B - eggs
L - chicken salad, celery, lc yogurt
S - spicy sausage with veggies
Sn - shake

Exercise - cardio video

Enjoy your day

Good day! Well, weird anyway I ended up going to the ER today! My bs dropped into the 60s and my body freaked out. It was scary. I thought it would be high, but it went low. An new one for me. But, after 3 hours they let me go home and cut my meds back to last weeks dose.

It seems like everybody at my house is always complaining that someone else ate "their" food. Which always cracks me up, since I buy it!

See you tomorrow.

Menu:
B - eggs
L - chicken, celery, lc yogurt
Sn - peanuts, diet coke
S - cabage roll
Sn - shake

Exercise - nothing yet, will do some walking later

Have a great day!

Yes, I'm feeling better today. Amazingly, my bs went way up today and I ended up coming home from work early. There are 3 of us in my office and last night one got fired, and my boss is on vacation, so now no one's there!

Mary-sounds so exciting! Diet Coke is a hard one to break. I went back to it myself. I'd better be careful, or my posting here every day pts will just be deleted by the DC!

Have a great day everyone!

Hey everyone.

Lisa - sorry to hear that your bs went so low... my went down to 43 once.. I panicked and called my sister (a RN) and she told me to eat something with sugar fast... and then take my bs again... it started going back up... it is weird.... it was because I was exercising and dieting really hard and it really dropped..... hope that you are feeling better now.... that must of been scary for y'all.

Betty - hope that you have better day..... kids can be such a "joy"

It has been wild at work today.... we are getting a new computer system... flat screens (cool) so we have two guys, cable, wires, and boxes to not fall over today... then one guy was going to show me how to get one the computer and guess what.... it would not work... so they went back to the drawing board... and finally they left at 4pm and said that they would be back tomorrow at 8am and that we should be on tomorrow it is terrible without our computers.... can not make appts. or look up anything.. have to go to our blue book and it takes sooooo long to get a chart now... just hope that it goes well tomorrow....

I am feeling better... but our staff is dropping.... one nurse was out yesterday, came back today and can not speak... no voice at all my office manager has really bad arthritis (and she is only in her late 30's) and she has to get shots, and when she does she gets soooo sick, so she went home..... it was a busy day... lots of walk-ins and just a he** of a day

Hope that everyone has a great day.. the weather is great... in the 80's and sunny.. but we will get rain tomorrow......

Well, must go.... love y'all diana

Lisa - wow, please be careful with that bp. Meant to tell you before it's great you're back. Don't worry, this last month was terrible for me.

Diana - Computers! Some days they're such a headache, but then what did we ever do without them. I had to take dd to get contacts today (as if we aren't already broke and I unemployed again) and instead of going out through the main door we sneeked out the pharmacy door just to avoid all the sick folk. I don't think anything catchy is going around, we've been lucky this year. It's a retirement community so it's mainly rich retired folk pulling up in their golf carts for check-ups.

Mary - blah, testing! Say no more. Just count down the days until summer, lol.

Since we had to be out of town today at the eye doctor, we went skipped school and went geocaching there. Hey, gotta save on the gas somewhere. Whew, it's $2.15 here!!! This new hobby of geocaching didn't come at the right time, huh? However, we saw some awesome scenery today. The wildflowers are blooming. At one place, we saw a herd of deer ahead of us on the trail and they were resting just off the trail on our way back out. That area had steep cliffs that were sort of cavern-like and a little stream we had to cross a few times - very pretty. Ok, we won't mention the snake by the cache, yikes!

Whew, the weight I put on last month sure did slow me down. That sure makes me realize that I need to get things under control FAST. It also makes me realize just how great every few pounds GONE feels. Ugh, I also realize I'm not a spring chicken anymore because that ankle still hurts from a month ago. Even though I did a lot of huffing and puffing today, but I feel pretty good about getting out and off my butt.

My "new" exercise this week is walking around the neighborhood. Ok, it's not exactly new, but since I haven't done it in months, the ol' leg muscles will think it's new and start hollering. I have some exercise tapes somewhere around so guess it's time to dust them off and see what's what.

Good afternoon, ladies!

Now that I'm basically unemployed, I've been playing catch up with all those chores that were put off. Woohoo, got the income tax done this morning so now it's waiting for dh to look over tomorrow. Almost caught up on the laundry, but the house is a disaster.

Again this month, I had to dip into the savings just to pay bills so we MUST tighten the budget even more. So, I just finished cleaning out the freezer and pantry to cut the grocery bill. I did a major clearing out a few months ago so didn't have much that needed to be thrown out so that was good. Everything's now in order to use up old stuff first. There's plenty of meat, but the veggies are almost non-existant. There's enough to make snacks and desserts (not LC) for the family so they won't feel deprived. Of course, I'll have to buy some items (veggies, dairy) but I WILL keep it to a miniumun. Hey, found 3 tuna muffins for lunch, lol! Guess, it's time check out Linda Sue's latest LC recipes to use what's on hand.

Hey everyone....

Great news... our computers are up and running at work..... the keyboard feels different.. but I will get used to it soon.... just glad to have my computer back.... was a good day... we only saw 44 sick patients.... that is a piece of cake compared to 134 patients

Went to our monthly Red Hatters meetings... had 18 members there out of 28 members, so it was a great turn out.... we just had a meeting at a member's home... lots of laughs and sisterhood... was a great evening...

Betty.... your latest geocaching sound wonderful.... even your snake just sounds like a great time. good luck on your budget... it sure it hard with everything going up and up... our gas is $2.20 right now.... will not make as many trips to Myrtle Beach etc....... will just try to go once in a while.....

Lisa. I hope that you are doing better.... my sugar is getting better now that I am feeling better.... you just take care of yourself....

Mary - hope that your mom is feeling better.

Well, I should get to bed... getting late and I have to go into work early tomorrow... love y'all diana

Hi everyone TGIF!!

We have an inservice day (oh joy!) and I'm not looking forward to sitting on my butt again all day, but I guess it's better than sitting on my butt all day and reading tests! I know that sounds easy to do, but it is so exhausting.

I think I'm finally getting use to the time change - yay!

Diana - I'm glad your computers are back up You never really know how much you depend on them until they are not there. Our phones at school have been down all week which has been a pain too. Our gas is $2.26 here

Betty - hey you can come here and do my laundry anyday if you get too bored Good luck with your budget

Lisa - glad you are feeling better Yeah, I use to drink a diet coke every afternoon, but quit that several years ago and now just have one every now and then. It's an easy habit to slup back into, so I need to stop!

Have a great Friday ladies!!

A sunny spring morning to you, ladies! As I'm looking out the window, the yard needs mowing but the amarylis (sp?) are blooming. The birds and squirrels are playing, and the river is glass smooth. Big difference from yesterday when I could barely shut the door for the wind. Out in the fields the bluebonnets, paint brush, and mustard are beautiful!

Dh and I were tearing apart the washing machine at 6:30 this morning but couldn't ever get the back off, so all for not. It leaks sometimes onto the floor and sometimes into the drum. Just because it's 18 years old doesn't mean it shouldn't work, right?!? So, I took my frustration out on my skillets by banging their bottoms until they sit flat again. Got the dishes done so at least something was accomplished this AM.

Dh is hinting around for food. There's leftover brisket from last night that's pretty good. I'd found a brisket in the freezer that I or mother had cut in half once and hadn't sealed the remainder back well (I can't believe someone was that dumb) so it was looking a little freezer burned but I threw on a bottle of ancient garlic sauce thinking if it didn't turn out, nothing was lost. Lol, best brisket we'd had in years! What's everyone eating lately? Anything good?

Mary - oh you poor thing! Testing AND inservice! How's your mother doing? Make sure she takes care of herself and does what the doctors tell her.

Diana - Glad you had an easy day. Ooh, new keyboards are very strange, aren't they. One wouldn't think a little ol' keyboard would make that much difference but a different one is just plain weird. And you too, take care of yourself and your bs.

Lisa - Hope you're doing good today. It seems there's so many folks with elevated bs now days. Is it we didn't know about it in the past or is it because there's some major problem with our eating (shhh) habits or lifestyles???

You people and your sunshine! I live in California and am so sick of the rain! More today! Today has been blustery with the rain and wind. I love it and hate it all at once!

I've been doing better. My bs are still hanging up there a bit, but I'll be okay. It's so hard getting back to the water! I'm so hooked on the diet soda again. But, one step at a time.

Betty-sounds like you've got your hands full! I have tons of laundry too! Can I get in line?

Mary-How'd the testing go? I have one of those sit on my butt jobs too. At least I can get up and go if I want, but I don't do it much. Always so much to do.

Diana-That's great news! I know when our computers go down there's nothing that functions. We've become so dependent on them. Glad all's going well

HAPPY FRIDAY!

Good morning, ladies!

Lisa - and here we thought it was always sunny in California. Glad you're keeping your bs in check. Try weaning off the sodas little by little.

Mary and Diana - have a good day. It's the weekend!

Just watching the wedding. Camilla is wearing white!?! She's no Di. I agree with the lady being interviewed now that Chucky treated Di horribly and only used her to beget children. Hope Liz can hang on long enough and somehow pass the crown to William. Chuck is such a dip. Ha, the reporter just said she looked her best - noticed he didn't say she was beautiful.

The local festival is this weekend so I've got to get dd early from a sleep over (ah, peace and quiet last night) and to line up with the band. It'll be a busy day.

Yesterday's menu:

B - brisket
L - cheese, pepperoni
S - almonds, jello, koolaid w splenda
D - green beans, seoul chicken (tried this for the first time, sticky but tasty)

calories - 1657 (too many)
carbs - 19

Hi everyone.... sure glad that the weekend is here. but our weather has turned cool.... it was sunny and in the 70's to 80's during the week... and now it has to turn cool for the weekend... I have to get out and mow the lawn... it is sooooooooo high...... but that will be good exercise...

Had egg and bacon for breakfast... then in the papers had a article on deviled eggs and photos... they looked sooo good that is what I had for lunch.....mixed up a little onion and bacon and mayo and put a tad of cut up chicken in it.... was the greatest deviled eggs I have ever made.....LOL we are going to a seafood place for dinner this evening.....

I have to get busy... but I am just relaxing and watching a movie on the Hallmark channel.... but I need to get busy... while I was sick... just did nothing at the house.. need to clean the place up.... sure could use a maid ...... have to work on some Red Hatters stuff... we still have two big events we are hosting and I need to get busy on them..... again "no rest for the wicked"

Lisa, good luck on you bs...... I know it is hard to get down..... mine has been a tad high 140 to 150's... am trying to get it down.....if I would just get better on my foods and exercise it would be better for my bs..... but we sure tend to sabotage ourselves.... sure do not know why..... we all know what is best for us, but to do that sometimes I feel that to be a drug user, an alcoholic, or smoker... it is easier... you can just stop those disgusting things,,, but you have to eat and to always eat the right things is hard when we are stressed, tired or sick....... but that is why we have this support group.... to get support, or a good talking too... etc......

Everyone have a great weekend...love y'all diana
