GOAL GETTERS #12 MARCH 16 - 31
MARCH 16- MARCH 31 CHALLENGE!!!
March is the end of our first quarter. So the end of the month challenge will be making sure you are on track for your total weight loss. So for example if you said you were going to try and lose 100 lbs. you should already have lost 8.33 lbs. a month for a total so far of 24.99 lbs. You will then need to post on your team’s thread if you are on track or not. If you are on track add 150 points if you are not on track subtract 50 points. (On March 31st, we all need to be at the weight we need to be at for the first quarter no exceptions on this) A special Thank You goes out to NeverAGain for coming up with this idea For End Of Month Reporting: Team Number: Team Name: Team Member: Total pounds lost from Mar.16 – Mar. 31: Total inches lost from Mar. 16 – Mar. 31: Total points for March (including water, exercise, bonus points and any additions or deductions): Total points since 1/1/05(include March in this): EXERCISE Less than 500 minutes exercise/month = -100 points 501-599 minutes of exercise/month = 35 points (avg 17 min/day) 600-749 minutes of exercise/month = 40 points (avg 20 min/day) 750-999 minutes of exercise/month = 50 points (avg 25 min/day) 1000-1149 minutes of exercise/month = 65 points (avg 33 min/day) 1150-1249 minutes of exercise/month = 80 points (avg 38 min/day) 1250-1499 minutes of exercise/month = 95 points (avg 42 min/day) 1500+ minutes of exercise per month = 120 points (avg 50 min/day) EXERCISE is defined as: a steady paced walk increasing heart rate, jogging, exercise videos, biking, gym workout in any form (aerobically or with weights). WEIGHT LOSS Any weight GAIN = -5 points 1-4lbs lost per month = 4 points 5lbs lost per month = 5 points 6lbs lost per month = 6 points 7lbs lost per month = 7 points 8lbs lost per month = 8 points 9lbs lost per month = 9 points 10lbs lost per month = 10 points 11lbs lost per month = 11 points 12lbs lost per month = 12 points 13lbs lost per month = 13 points 14lbs lost per month = 14 points 15+lbs lost per month = 45 points WATER (only WATER counts! – i.e. not tea, soda, etc) consumption per month (in ounces) 1983 ounces or less = -100 points (avg less than 64 oz/day) 1984-3100 ounces = 35 points (avg 64-100 oz/day) 3101-4340 ounces = 85 points (avg 101-140 oz/day) 4341+ ounces = 150 points (avg 141oz+/day) MEASUREMENTS – INCHES LOST Add 10 points for every HALF-inch you lose (measured monthly) – add hips and waist together for a combined total. Further Additions and Deductions: Deduct 1 point for every can of diet pop that is not made with the Splenda Sweetner or another Atkins-approved sweetner. (hint: drink Diet Rite) Deduct 1 point for every 12oz. you drink that is not caffeine free. Deduct 30 points for going over YOUR monthly carb intake goal at all! Deduct 100 points for NOT reporting your stats on the 15th and last day of month. Add 1 point for everyday you posted from 3-2 thru 3-15 (3-1 is a freebie): Add 15 points if you posted everyday from 3-2 thru 3-15: Add 150 points if you are on track with your weight loss: Deduct 50 if you are NOT on track with your weight loss: I also want to let everyone know that MISRobin2 and Simplemaw will be working on the challenges with me. Well ladies,
I hope you all noticed which team is ranked in first!!!!! IT IS YOUR VERY OWN TEAM 12!!!!!!!! Congratulations ladies!!!!! Remember that we said we would move up because we have STAYING power. We are all committed to this team and to reaching our goals!!!! Remember that the end of this month marks the end of our first quarter...so push yourself to reach your goals!!!!!! Let's keep our posting up. I really am encouraged to see you all check in so often. Also let's keep our miles up and our water down!!!!! I forgot to see what mileage we were at on the last post. I have miles to add...but I guess I will add those later. So, I would like to know, who is on track so far with their weightloss according to the end of the first quarter? Starting tomorrow I am going to do three days of meat/egg fast to help get my metabolism reved up!!! Shell

OMG!! I didn't realize that we were the Biggest losers Winner's
REposting from the other thread in case some of you didnt see my post
How very Kind you all are! Thanks for sending me those PM's Shell& Muse cause I planned on just lurking from now on. This whole first half of March I have done absoulutely nothing ! I have had so many health issues this month ,now I am back on steroids again , I have bronchitis, my back issues. My dh is sick with the flu and my house is a mess cause I havent been well enought to do much , I just sit down and eat dinner when I get home and dont move till I go to bed cause I feel so bad. I have regained 5lbs ( by my scale) but according to my Drs scale says I lost 5 lbs since last month when I saw her for my back. I am being honest with you gals I want to continue with the team but , I don't want to pull you down either .I felt that if I just dropped out they couldnt hold my totals against you . I will understand if you want to put me on individual status . I don't want my performance to hold you all back. I will say this, even If my activity level isnt there yet cause of my health I will do everything I can to keep my totals up and hold up my end for the rest of the challenge. WOW , I haven't had time to look at all the latest post yet but how awesome is that? Yeah I said all along our chances of winning are our staying power. As long as we stay and just stay and stay, we will can acheive our goals and Take home the GOLD(Goal) Muse~ How is your new house going have you and settled in yet? Shell~ Congrats on the 40 lbs lost that is great!! you are doing girl Waving to : GenieLady, Erin, on your 40lbs, Have a great day girls!!

Hey Team!
# MILES WALKED/JOGGED: 24 + 2 = 26 MILES
# MINUTES EXERCISED: 520 MINUTES Wowie! Go team, go! First of all ... Joyful ... I agree with Shell. We are a team. We face our struggles and celebrate our joys together as a team. We pull together as a team. We support each other as a team. When you have issues, you are supposed to come and talk to your team. I want you to stay. I want you to honestly report your status, gain or loss. Let us share your struggle. I'm sure you understand that steroids may cause you to gain. We know this too. That's beyond your control. Please focus on what you are able to control - your food intake and your water. Be healthy for you. Weight loss is a benefit, but the biggest benefit is better health. Eating well is a part of good health. You can contribute that way and you can help us remember to drink all of our water. As for exercise ... right now it isn't wise for you to do. As your team members, we might need to "up" our exercise so that we can compensate for what you are not able to do. We need that anyway! That's a motivator for me ... I'm not just doing something for me, I am doing it for you too! Allow us the honor of doing this thing on your behalf. Sorry this is so long, but I wanted to be sure that there wasn't any misunderstanding about how I felt! Also ... you need to know that I'm struggling right now myself. I have a lot going on in my life right now (moving, packing, some other professional stuff ... ) and it's hard for me to focus on my weight. The best I can do right now is try to drink more water, eat on plan, and get my 2 miles in every day. I have faith that the weight will eventually come off. Right now, I am not able to give my very best to this challenge, but I'm hanging in there. What's going on right now won't last forever. When I am settled, I will be a force to be reckoned with! As for my house ... I close at the end of the month and take possession next month. The seller had surgery so I am accomodating him. I have agreed to give him an extra 2 weeks to move out. He's been really great. I've been really fortunate to have such a reasonable seller. More later ladies! Muse |

Laura, I started taking fiber too but I'm doing the chewable kind. I think I might switch to the liquid..yuck!!! But I do think it is making a difference in my body. Wow 5 pounds!!! Keep it up girl!!!!
Muse, your words to Joyful were well put. We will all pull together and work hard. By the way, I do admire your stamina. You are doing a great job getting your excersize in. Especially with everything you have going on with the house situation right now. You are doing great and are a motivation for me!!! Joyful, keep us updated on your loss/gain info and on your water intake!!! Erin, How are you? I saw a post on the main thread about you doing the meat/egg fast. How's that going? Well, ladies, remember that Easter candy is EVIL!!! Avoid at all costs!!! Shell |

Hi ladies!
Sorry I have been MIA...pretty busy these days. First of all...a HUGE CONGRATS to out team!!!! I joined curves last night and had my first workout this morning so..... # MILES WALKED/JOGGED: 0 # MINUTES EXERCISED: 0+30=30 Minutes I was doing the meat and egg fast for a few days but it is so hard with work (normally I have a small salad for lunch) I think I am going to save the meat and egg fast for when I have a long weekend. |

Muse~you are a Dear
Thanks so much for the words of wisdom and encouragement!Gee You do have alot on your plate your self!! To put more pressure on yourself and up your exercise, to take up my slack is just too kind.Just the thought of it makes me feel special and really glad I am on this team and not any other
![]() I also am not glad that you are still struggling, but I am glad you chose to share your struggle with me .I feel like someone else is feeling and experiencing the negative self talk etc just like I am.I feel less inadequate if that makes any sense. I know I have been on so many different WOE's that I could probably write a book myself! knowing and doing is two different things On that note I will eat like a healthy person, act like a healthy person, and think like a healthy person . Turn inaction to Action. I get alot of exercise at my current job so that is why I dont have the strength to do any when I get home .Lifting , squating , all at a very fast pace. So my totals wont be too low but, I would like to add some walking when my health gets better. To you all~~Last edited by joyful48 : 03-17-2005 at 12:20 PM. |

Erin, good job joining curves!!! That will def. help you get your exercise in. Hey, we are keeping track of our exercise as a team, so when you post your minutes just copy the totals from whoever last posted before you and add your minutes/miles to it!!
Joyful, glad to hear you 'gung-ho' again!!! Be safe on your back and keep your morale up!!!! I'm still struggling with this stupid cold!!! It will NOT go away...I've had it for like 2 weeks now. I'm not like deathly ill or anything...it's just annoying and my nose is starting to look like I have leprosy or something from blowing it so many times!!! |

Hey All!
Joyful ... I am glad that what I said felt encouraging to you. Shell has said many things to me that have helped keep me motivated to keep trying. All we can do is do the best with what we have. Teaming is supposed to help us feel like we are not alone in our struggle. I'm glad you're going to keep trying! I also have tried many ways to get this weight off, but I think that lc is the healthiest and works tbest for me.
Erin ... Good for you for joining curves! Do you like it? Did they measure you there? Does their scale register the same as yours at home? Shell ... it's hard to imagine that anything I do is otivational to someone else. It's still a struggle ... when does it get fun? What motivates me to do it is thinking about my alternatives if I don't exercise. It is getting easier though ... pretty soon I will need to add another mile to get the same intensity work out. Laura ... I haven't taken a fiber supplement, but I have eaten a lot of flax muffins. So long as I don't add nuts, they come put god. It also helps me if I have a craving for bread. Gotta go! Muse |

Im a little sore today. I went to to Curves again...didnt like the trainer that was there this morning though...oh well.
Muse: They did weigh and measure me. Im not sure if the measurements were the same but the scale was not the same at all. My home scale says 282...curves said 296...I paniced a bit but they lady there said it was probally primarily because #1 I was fully dressed(with shoes) and #2 I got weighed in the evening. I am still posting on what my scale says at home because that is what I started with when I weighed 320...So I know its going down

# MILES WALKED/JOGGED: 30+2= 32 Miles
# MINUTES EXERCISED: 600 + 30 =630 MINUTES Hey there ladies!! Muse, as far as exercise getting fun.....ummm....I think it must be when you start realizing that it's getting easier and easier. I really think the nice weather will help. It's just now getting above freezing here and I am SO ready for that. I really enjoy walking alot more when I can feel my toes!!! Erin, keep up the good work and curves. Yeah, I would just go by home scale because that it what you started on. Joyful, how's work going? Your back doing any better? Hi Laura!! My major issue the past few days is making sure that I get my meals in. Thats always been a bad habit of mine in the past- skipping breakfast and lunch and eating in the evening. This always throws my metabolism off! I know I need to really focus on preparing my meals ahead of time like I did in the beginning. Any recipe ideas? Shell |

# MILES WALKED/JOGGED: 30+2= 32 Miles
# MINUTES EXERCISED: 600 + 20 =650 MINUTES Just posting my exercise. Shell- I am using the citrucel tablets but haven't for 3 days because I really don't feel like eating when I take them. I will probably take 2 later today. But am down 6 lbs for the week. That is for a total of 16 lbs. for the challenge so I will have to make these last two weeks count if I don't want to hurt our team with a -50 points. I will need to lose another 9 lbs. I don't know if that will be doable but will give it the Team 12 try. Erin- good job joining Curves. Will try to interact with the team more when I have a break at work probably the end of April.

Hey Team!
# MILES WALKED/JOGGED: 32 + 2= 34 Miles
# MINUTES EXERCISED: 650 MINUTES How's it going? I just looked back over the goals ... I'm afraid that I am going to cause our team the -50 points. I'm really sorry! I have only lost 12 lbs since the beginning of this challenge and there's no way I am going to lose 12-13 lbs in 2 weeks at the rate I've been going. I have lost 19 since I began, but I don't get to count the pounds I lost before the challenge began. I'm certain that once I get my moved, it will be a lot easier to focus to be sure I'm not eating too many carbs. Until then, I will continue my exercising, drink lots of water, and stay on plan. That's the very best I can do. A pen pal I have sent me the following link for an article about exercise and depression. Even though I'm not depressed, I still think there were some pretty good points in there. Here's the link. http://articles.health.msn.com/id/100096414 Have a good day everyone! Muse |

I agree...we are here to support each other...that is the important thing.
Im semi proud of myself today. Normally I am an emotional eater...when things get bad I eat a lot. I have been able to stay away from the bad foods today. DH and I are talking about separating...I really hope it doesnt come to that but it looks like it is... Im sorry. I know this board is about weight loss...its just that this weighs so heavily on my mind... |

Errin, my heart goes out to you as you work your way through this very difficult time in your life. Yes, this forum is about weight loss, but life stresses can impact the way you eat and the choices you make. We all tend to make poor choices in times of high stress.
It's really good that you've decided not to let food be the crutch to help you through. It may give you a minute of satisfaction, but falling off plan and regaining weight aren't worth the price. You did the right thing by coming here for encouragement. I am an emotional eater too - I eat too much when times are really good and when I'm stressed. I have been doing extra walking instead of eating and it makes me feel better. I don't know if it will work for you, but I thought I'd share. BBL! Muse |
