TEAM #3 MARCH 16-31

MARCH 16- MARCH 31 CHALLENGE!!!

March is the end of our first quarter. So the end of the month challenge will be making sure you are on track for your total weight loss. So for example if you said you were going to try and lose 100 lbs. you should already have lost 8.33 lbs. a month for a total so far of 24.99 lbs. You will then need to post on your team’s thread if you are on track or not.

If you are on track add 150 points if you are not on track subtract 50 points.

(On March 31st, we all need to be at the weight we need to be at for the first quarter no exceptions on this)

A special Thank You goes out to NeverAGain for coming up with this idea

For End Of Month Reporting:

Team Number:

Hmmmmmm. Don't know about this end of March challenge - the idea that we all need to have lost 1/4 of the weight we said we were going to lose for the year. Mine was a hoped for goal, not a commitment. I don't expect to make it and I didn't when we started, either. Oh well. It gives me more incentive to work harder! And, of course, I'll like some of the challenges better than others. And the ones I like won't necessarily be the ones that others like. It will all come out in the end. But, in the meantime team, you can figure that I'll be getting negative points for not being on track to my goal for this quarter. And for the other quarters, too, for that matter. But by golly I've got all the water points that are out there!

The scale is stuck at 231. Which was a new low last week, but I'm ready for a new low this week, too! I was sort of expecting it to be up a pound or two since I ate out last night. Forgot that I needed to take supper with me since I would be leaving directly from the local library to one about 30 minutes north of here to do a story hour. We went to the Philadelphia CheeseSteak place to grab something quick. Pat had a cheesesteak sandwich, and I had a cheesesteak salad - the same meat/cheese/peppers/onion, but over a huge salad of lots of varieties of lettuce-y type greens, mushrooms, peppers, onions, and stuff, with ranch dressing. Very good, though I left about half of the salad part. But it probably had a lot more sodium than I'm used to.

Tonight I'm going out for Chinese. The women I work with at the library are taking me out for my birthday. I know that Chinese isn't the best, but we have to eat at 4:00 because of story hours again tonight, so I figure I should be able to work with the waitress to come up with something I can eat. But again, it will be high in sodium so I'm expecting a bounce tomorrow.

Other than that, everything is fine here. Just wish the scale would move downwards!

Morgs - you are down 23% of your goal, so you are right on track! Way to go! Just another 2 pounds this month and you'll get those extra 150 points!

Byn - you are down almost 33% of your goal! You rock, girl! Keep it up!

Katie - you are down almost half way to your goal already! I'm running out of ways to say way to go/keep it up/you're fantastic/etc.!

I'm not sure how Debbie is doing, since I don't remember her starting weight, but I'm sure she is doing well, too. I know she got off to a great start!

I'm only at 15% of my goal, with another 5 pounds to lose in the next two weeks to be at 25% of my goal. Not likely, but I'll work at it!

Lasi, in the best of all possible worlds, you would be eating on program all the time. Unfortunately, life doesn't always hand us the best of all possible worlds, and we just have to do the best we can with what we have. Don't worry about not following your chosen way of eating all the time. Make the best choices you can when you are not eating on plan. Do the things you can do - like drinking water and avoiding sugar. Avoid flour too, if you can. Just do the best you can until life settles back down again. And don't give up and don't quit posting here!

Congratulations to all the great losers here!

Have a great rest of the month everyone!

Hey girls! WOW! We are doing good! I thought that tonight would calm down for me but it isn't. We are trying to get the last of the essays together for my dd scholarships. Tonight she fell down some steps at home and hurt her tailbone! It is always something. Wow what an idea for a challenge, my mind didn't even think that way. We are all doing really well and I am so proud of us. I need to get back on the water. Still walking every day but I need to up that too. We are expecting more snow on Friday. I know Maw what you mean about Easter dinner, it will just be me and dd possibly her bf. I thought about fixing a ham and some deviled eggs. I will probably make them a potato salad or something. I just want to say one thing to Maw, Katie and Deb thanks so much for allowing me to be part of this team...you guys are so wonderful and I appreciate each of you so much. Thanks for helping me make my dream possible!!!!! M

Morgan - You're welcome - we love having you here!

I can't believe that my goal was only 50....but after seeing that I feel better about what I have accomplished

In my f'ed up brain I didn't feel like I have done that much, I guess I'm focusing too hard on what I had gained back and being disappointed that I'm still 20lbs from my low... Gotta get my head screwed on straight

Way to go ladies...were in 5th place!

Whine, whine, whine.....can you guess what I'm going to do...

I woke up at 1:55, can't breathe, sore throat, hurts to swallow. Thankfully today is my last day of teaching, but I have to to talk for 4-5 hours.

I've already taken something, but damm...I don't have time for this and I really want to test for my orange belt on saturday, but if I can't kick it out to where I feel up to it I won't pass, it's really an endurance test as well as a skills test

Going back to bed now...see if I can get a few more hours sleep anyways

Poor Katie! Hope you feel better real soon! Like by morning!

Morgan, we're really glad to have you with us! Hope dd's tailbone is ok this morning. Good luck with all the essays and scholarships. I may change my mind about Easter and my birthday, depending on how I do weight-wise between now and then. I sure don't want to load up on sodium right before the end of the month weigh-in if there is any chance at all that I'll make my goal! Not that I think there's much, but I can always dream.

Katie, you would be on track even if your goal for the year was 100 pounds! Don't sell yourself short, girl - you're doing great!

Thanks for the encouragement, Kim. I know it's possible that I'll make my goal, but not likely. I am doing really really well if I manage to lose a pound a week - and that's with really going all out on exercise, water, eating right, etc. That's just the way I am. I'm one of those really slow losers. Not that I'm giving up! But I figure I'll get my points from exercising and drinking water and not drinking caffeine or bad sweetners, and leave the pounds and inches points to others. But hey! Even if the weight does come off in grams instead of pounds and centemeters instead of inches, I'm a winner even if I'm not a Loser!

By the way, everyone - please note that Kim needs our stats for the whole three months this time, not just March. Wendy has been sick and Kim hasn't been able to get the stats for the first two months.

Have a great day!

So Maw you are rethinking the Easter and birthday celebration? What do you have in mind? DD is doing better today, what a mess. Thanks for the well wishes in the essays she did a really good job it's 150 words tooooo long. I had hotdogs with spaghetti sauce and meatballs tonight...interesting combination that I loved. Have a great night! Hiya Byn, Lasi, and Deb. Hope that all is well. M

Hey Everyone,

I feel really positive today about LC. I know I want to reach my year end goal. I am not even sure what I thought I would do. I have my meals planned for today. I know that this is the way for me to lose weight. I have to quit eating junk, drink water, watch my carbs. I cannot exercise yet. I think and hope my knee is getting better. I will really be able to tell when I go do errands this weekend.

Morgan, hope you have a great Friday and things calm down at home (if that is possible )

Katie, hope you feel better soon. That crud is going around everywhere.

Maw, I know what you mean about losing slow, I am one of those also. We will just keep on keeping on.

Howdy to Byn, and Deb

See ya all later

I don't have to drink any more water all month! Anyone want to "borrow" some of my water? And I only need 276 minutes of exercise in the next 13 days to get maximum exercise points this month! Now if that darn scale would just move...

I mowed the lawn yesterday afternoon instead of going to the gym. I mow it with a weedeater, which I have to carry the whole time. I felt fine while I was doing it, but boy did my shoulders ever hurt last night! They're still a bit sore but much better. I went to the gym today and did the recumbant bike for 45 minutes and the treadmill for 25, hard enough to work up a good sweat, but not as hard as usual.

I'll be working tonight at the Big Brothers Big Sisters Bowl for Kids Sake bowlathon. It's the biggest fundraiser for them here. Our little town of less than 30,000 has one of the biggest bowlathons in the whole country! Anyway, they usually have lots of food there for the volunteers, and I expect to be eating it. In the past they've had veggies and dip, meat and cheese, and nuts. They have also had lots of sodas, cookies, muffins, bread, chips, etc. While I will be eating the low carb stuff, I will ONLY be eating that stuff.

Hi Lasi! Glad you're feeling gung ho about low carbing today! Remember that the secret is to keep doing it even when you DON'T feel enthused about it!

Hi Morgan! Don't know yet what I'll do for my birthday and Easter. Maybe nothing. We'll see. But whatever it is will definitely be low carb!

Glad you're feeling better, Katie!

Hi Bynny! Have a great time and remember to do a controlled cheat!

Got to go. As the saying goes, "I'm late, I'm late, I'm late, for a very important date!" Ok, so it's just working at the library, but I'm still late!

Have a great weekend!

I'll be here for another few days, then will be gone for a couple of weeks. The woman my aunt's friend has lived with for 40+ years is in the hospital in Tulsa and I'll be going down later this week to stay with my aunt for probably a couple of weeks. I'll post my stats before I leave.

Food has been low carb today, but definitely not on plan. Emotional eating. I'm back on track now.

Feeling really bummed at the moment. I'm 900 miles short of being able to get a free ticket, as opposed to paying over $1100 for a ticket. I can buy another 1000 miles quite cheaply, but they may or may not get posted before I leave. So now I have to decide whether to go ahead and buy the ticket or take a chance on having the miles posted. Grrrrrr!

Hope you are all having a great weekend!

maw - Sorry to hear about your aunts friend, hope she gets better quickly

I'm still sick as a dog, I've been in bed for the most part since thursday afternoon, and will be there all day today, and I'm hoping i don't have to call in sick again tomorrw.

If I could swallow without pain I'd be so much better off. And now it's in my chest so the coughing isn't helping much either.

hi byn, morg, deb, lasi

back to bed for me

Hey Maw,
Sorry to hear about your aunt's friend...I hope that everything is alright. Really sorry to hear about the plane ticket situation, I hope that it all works out. I can just imagine the emotional eating. My thoughts are with you. I hope that you have a wonderful Easter and birthday! Just take things one day at a time.

Katie, are you feeling better hon? I hope so. Did you get to test for your belt? I miss seeing your posts and everything that goes on with you and your busy bee self.

Byn, I hope that you have a wonderful vacation and at least you are honest with yourself and know that you will cheat! I imagine when I go home in June I am sure that I will eat some of my momma's southern cooking!

Debbie, I hope that things are going better for you, miss seeing your posts.

Lasi, glad that you have found some new motivation. I must admit mine goes up and down. Hope that your knee feels better as the weather is nicer and it would be great to get out and take walks. How is everyone at your house doing?

Things are good with me I have gained 3 pounds. Started taking a new blood pressure pill so I don't know if it's from that or not. I need to up my exercise or something. I guess we will see. Have a great day. M

My aunt's friend died this morning. I'm heading out tomorrow (Monday). Will eat low carb but no promises beyond that!

Katie, will you post the stats again? I'll send mine to you later today, but may update them while I'm there - at least for exercise! I'm glad I'm so far ahead in that department! And I'm through with the water, so that's good.

Sorry you're still sick, Katie! Take care!

Hope it's just your body adjusting to the new meds, Morgan, and those pounds fly back off!

Hi Lasi!

Hi Bynny!

Hi Debbie!

Have a Happy Easter and a Happy Spring Equinox and enjoy the fact that spring is officially here (in spite of what the weather may be trying to tell you!)

Hey Katie,
I am here! How you doing hon? I hope that you are feeling better. I have gained another 2 pounds, don't really know what is going on. At any rate my dd got a job so yesterday I was out getting her clothes. Not too much else to report. Feeling bad because of the gain. Sorry Maw to hear about your aunt's friend. Talk to you soon. M

Hi Everyone!

I'm FINALLY back... and what a busy few weeks it has been.

This was my first time attending a funeral, and it was a very emotional experience... add in the fact that I was in the "world of chocolate breakfast sprinkles and sugary bread toppings, and you can just imagine how off plan I've been. Emotional food cravings in a place where low-carb isn't really accepted... blah!

This last minute trip to the Netherlands was followed by a trip to Ontario for my own grandmother's 80th birthday... so even more sugary junky treats... My diabetes is screaming at me and the shigh blood sugar levels have really been doing a number on my energy levels.

Well, I am back home now, in my food controlled environment of no carb-rich snacks and healthier eating. March is a complete write off for me with regards to this challenge, but I am taking the rest of March to get back on plan and try to lose some of the 10lbs or so I put on. Yep, I'm back up to 276 (hiding my head in shame). The good news is that it is above freezing outside now, so I have been getting my 5km of walking in the past three days.

If I've learned anything from the past few weeks, it's that these little hiccups are going to happen from time to time, and the most important thing is to just pick myself up and get going again.

Well... that's all for now. It's great to be back online with my support team! I hope I didn't cause anyone to have cravings after I mentioned chocolate!

<Hugs!>

Thanks for the welcome back Katie!

like I said in my message last night, it's been a couple of crazy busy weeks here! I did have a good time visiting with everyone though, first with DH's relatives, and then with my own. I will have to post a few pictures when I get them online!

Your right that I am in really good spirits though, considering all that's
