Hey thought I would try to help if I can. My daughter has had Diabetes for 13 years so I know some. When you sugar is that high you need to watch eating anything that will make it go really high. Like cakes, pies, your starchy carbs, and even some fruits. Eat some foods that don't affect your blood sugar much, eat things in the low glycemic range. Also drinking water and exercising will bring your blood sugar down some. You should try to eat the same amount of carbs at the same time of day for better consistency. Before you talk to your dietitian make a list of questions to ask so you won't forget. Tell her/him your eating habits and keep a log of what you eat, what time you ate it, any exercise and the time, and the times when you take your meds. You may be able to pinpoint high and low blood sugars with this list and be able to correct it. It is a lot to take in I wish you well. Morgs

Sorry to hear about the diabetes, but I'm glad you got it diagnosed! I don't know anything about it, but I'm sure you'll get lots of good advice from folks who do. Did you re-post to the main CC board and/or the board for asking health related questions? Can't think what it's called, but I think there is one on the maid lowcarbfriends board.

You know, of course, that Atkins (or low carb in general) is good for what ails you!

Yes you should eat, but just watch what you eat. I'm type 2 and if I don't eat my blood sugar goes up. Plan your meals and snacks and try to stick with it. Go to you Nutritionist they can give you very good information. Exercise Excercise Exercise. I know if my blood sugar is high and I get out and walk it will be atleast 40 points lower when I get back...Take your meds just as your Dr tells you to.
