Happy Sunday!!!
Tarsha-I am taking the 2 students I have today, out for hot chocolate (coffee for me). The Jr High kids are off at a retreat. So I only have the two older girls this week. Nothing exciting! Then today, I work in the nursery during our church service. No time for personals, off to get ready for church. ![]() |

Hey Foxes!
Nancy, did you have fun at church? It must be nice to be with the little ones. It's been a while since I've hand an armful of baby. I miss it. I am SORE today! I'm so crampy that I thought TOM was coming early, but then I realized it's because of yesterday's ab work. Ugh. I might not gym today, but I plan to walk. Yesterday I walked for an hour without the kids and chose a more uphill route than I usually go for when I'm pushing a stroller. It was surprised to find it was a pretty good butt workout We went into Waikiki afterward but we only walked a couple blocks. DS wanted to see a one-man band. Now he wants to be a one-man band ![]() I hope you all are enjoying your Sundays! |

Hey Foxy Girls and Guy!!
Where is everyone???? I see our Hot Tropical Fox has been up and about already!! I have taken the teens for hot chocolate and worked in the nursery. Then off to the grocery store in the snow. I finally got home around 1:30. Mark put the groceries away, probably feeling guilty because he was my helper in the nursery and would not get up for church. I have done two loads of laundry, made a meatloaf, made a Mexican frittata, cooked some Italian sausage and also made some Italian spinach. I then cleaned the cat litter box and then cleaned the bathroom. I have about 3 more loads of laundry to still do. All the dishes I used are washed and dried too (and no I do not have a dishwasher, I am the dishwasher). I am a busy Momma Fox!!! In the nursery today, I was all alone with a 5 month old and a 21 month old Those two ages do not mix when you are all alone!!!The baby did not start screaming until about 20 mins into the hour. Then he would not stop, so I took the baby and the 2 yr old down the hall to get a baby swing from the pre-school nursery. I had the swing in 1 had (it was set up), the baby in the other arm and the toddler running away down the hall toward the sanctuary! Fortunately someone came along and grabbed the toddler for me. Then we got back into the room, I put the screeeeeeeaming baby in the swing, which he did not want to be in, and get the toddler into the highchair with snacks. By now I am sweating bad and I am ready to After a few minutes the baby starts screeching again. So I take him out of the swing, but I can't go get his Mom, because I would have to take both kids with me into the church service. So I just rock the baby and sing in hopes I would bore him to sleep. But oh no, he was adamant about needing his Mom. Finally God sent another kind soul my way and she got the Mom. Not what I had anticipated today!! I am usually the only one the baby will sleep on, not today!! So what fun I have had all day!!! How's your day going????

Hi Fox Family.....
Ugggg It's snowing AGAIN! I'm so tired of snow. I just want spring with birds and flowers and green leaves It was a pretty uneventful day today. I let the carb monster get to me...I blame it on TOM. I had lazagna for lunch at my Aunt's house So, anyway...I did the stair stepper at her house for 20 minutes to burn off that lazagna Then I came home and did the elliptical for 10 minutes and will do 10 more in a few minutes. I really don't feel guilty for losing control. I mean I know it's my own fault and I will pay for it, but I don't hate myself.....I should hate myself, I should be angry and vowing never to do it again, but honestly I know it WILL happen again because my mind is weak these days As bad as I want to lose this weight, I KNOW without a doubt that I WILL screw up again because I always do... Ok...pity party over...I'm sorry. Comes with TOM. I hate TOM.... Nancy...I'm sorry you had such a hard time with the little ones. At least you got alot done BEFORE you left for church Imagine if you came home to a messy house AFTER the day with the kids...you definetly would've started and wouldn't have done a darn thing on the house. Lauren...you're so lucky. I miss walking. I can't wait for spring when this snow melts. I hope I have the ambition and drive to keep working on my elliptical AND walk. You have more energy than me....did you start from the beginning with exercising? I wish I would have. I basically lost most of the weight without exercising. I guess that explains my saggy spots... That's why I'm adding exercising now. your son wants to be a one-arm band...that's so cute. How old is he? I just love little guys. Hi to all the rest of the Fox Family. Hope your day went well. ![]()

Hello Foxes!
Sorry I disappeared last week -- life was just busy with work and playoffs. Work shows no signs of calming down with the media coverage of all the privacy leaks with our competitors. it doesn't help that the Senator named us also, but had much of his information incorrect. So, I will be limited to posting at home and there isn't a lot of extra time there. I'll make time, though. I ate off-plan today -- went with dh to our favorite chinese place. Didn't splurge, but definately made some non-lc choices. I'm starting the 3-day meat fast tomorrow -- with the CC Meat Fasters group. Not much cooking happening today -- I did roast 3 pounds of chicken breasts in the oven, made a big batch of tuna salad (no cheese added) and bought lots of sliced turkey breast at the grocery store today. It's going to seem odd to avoid veggies, cheese and dairy. But, it's only for 3 days and then I'll add a daily salad in. I need to do something to try and jump-start my weight loss - I've gone too long without a loss. I'm still doing the WATP, but haven't seen any additional inches lost either. Hope everyone's enjoying their weekend -- it's 59° today. I should really take the dog for a walk, but just gave him a bath this morning and it's really sloppy out. OK -- gotta go make dd something to eat. She's been looking longingly at the chicken I roasted, so I think she's having that and Uncles Bens Wild Rice. Back tomorrow- ~Kim |

Hello!
A new thread? Will we have one every Sunday? Nancy, how was the hot cocoa expedition? I knew you would have a story to share about the nursery! Did you tell Mark all about your day without him there to help you? I would love to help in the nursery..... (my babies feel like they are all growed up all ready ) Sounds like you have already accomplished TONS on a Sunday afternoon. Wow, momma Fox, I need you to come live with me for about a week. Pleeeeaaaase?Pokemom, great job walking yesterday! Did you guys make it out to dinner? Your son sounds so funny...my girls love to watch American Idol. I'm pretty sure that is their life long dream. Maybe we should hook up your one man band and my divas and see what they produce. Tina, great to hear from you! I'm glad you were able to check in. That's awesome news about your Grandma. Congratulations! I have a very close friend battling non-Hodgkins Lymphoma right now and he flew out to Seattle last week for some more testing.....he's actually in remission from the cancer, but he developed Graft versus Host disease from the stem cell transplant and it's causing more problems than the cancer did. I'm praying for some good news for them. BTW, a PET scan is used to determine blood flow and intensity of metabolic activity in particular organs, heart and blood vessels, and to diagnose cancer. You either inhale or are injected with a solution that contains a radioactive substance and when those "positrons" react with the electrons that are normally found in the cells, gamma rays are emitted. The PET scan detects the gamma rays and makes color coded images that indicate the metabolic activity. Let us know how it goes. (It looks similar to a CAT scan machine) Sorry, that was probably way too technical for you. Tarsha, what are you up to on this Sunday afternoon? You usually check in by now. Kite flying sounds like fun. What a sweet friend you are to take some kids with you. Want to come visit? I'm still working on the new pic. Actually, Chip is trouble shooting for me. I'm having a hard time with the new camera. Well, where is everyone else? Come out, come out, wherever you are..... I had such a blast last night with the nursing students plus a few others. There was a total of 15 of us that met for dinner and then went out afterwards. I ordered a chicken breast that was topped with crab, asparagus, and then a bernaise sauce. I know the sauce had some carbs, but I only ate half of it, so I'm not too worried about it. I also had some steamed broccoli and a dinner salad. Yum-yum. The "bar" scene was a new experience for me. I hadn't been to this place before, but I'm glad I went, just to say I've been there and done that. It was great when we first arrived because it was still fairly quiet. I played a couple of games of pool. As the night progressed, though, I began to feel older and OLDER! It's amazing how young a 21 year old looks these days! Anyway, even though I only drank diet POP all evening (Girlie, I did that JUST for you!), I stayed out until 1:30 AM!It was lots of fun and I think I should get out and socialize more often....(with adults) Well, needless to say, when I weighed in this morning, I was the same weight as last week. I'm sure it's from the gallons of soda I had, so I'm not too upset. I'll try to weigh-in again on Tues. and see if I have any better luck. Have a great Sunday! Monica ![]() |

Hi all,
We are a quiet group today. First, thanks Lauren for my new avatar...I don't know what I would do without you hooking me up...I guess pick one of those weird looking pictures. I'm so glad I don't have to do that! Thanks again! Nancy-I'm so sorry you had so much trouble with the baby. That's exactly the reason I do not work at the nursery at my church...I would panic if that had happened to me. We have eager teenagers that like working in the nursery...they can have it! I went hiking for the first time this year and I enjoyed it so much. We had such a beautiful day here in Nashville. I couldn't pass it up. You would think with all the working out I do that I could not get sore but my legs feel like they are on fire. It's a very hilly hike...more like mountains to me. But I do enjoy the scenic view you get once you're at the top. I do hope that I am able to go to the gym tomorrow.I have to go see can I find some cheap tickets for my niece. She wants to come and stay with me during spring break. She's in Minnesota. I will check in with you guys later...see if anymore Foxes show up. |

Okay, I think we all posted at the same time because last time I checked it was just Nancy and Lauren...
Tina-Don't worry about the off plan eating...just get right back on the horse! And you did by doing the stair climber and the ellipitcal...and please try to avoid those pity parties...they are the worse parties around and only leave you feeling worse instead of better. When you think one is coming your way, go and do something you like or something that can avoid making you feel sad and sorry for yourself...for me it's crocheting. Monica-Sounds like you had a really good time last night! I'm so glad you got to get out and mingle instead of being at home studying like crazy...a girl needs to get out every once in a while. I will be checking to see that new pic of you...can't wait! Kim-I have been wanting Chinese food for the longest and I think I am honestly going to go for it when I go to Memphis on Easter Weekend. That is where my favorite Chinese place is and I probably won't be back in Memphis for a while. Then again I might change my mind...We'll see...Don't worry about it though...that meat fast should put you right back where you were or even kick start you to losing weight again. |

Hey, I'm glad more people checked in. I've changed my plans. I'm going to go check out the Gold's Gym across the street from my office instead of walking today. I figure it's better to deal with the paperwork on the weekend instead of during my lunch break when I'd rather actually exercise.
Nancy, I'm sorry about the baby trauma! It's hard enough when you can't calm your own baby down, but when it's someone else's it's completely nerve racking. Tarsha, hiking totally kicks my butt. It's much easier to do cardio machines than actually get out there on the pavement. That's actually part of the reason I've been walking instead of using the machines. I go slower when I actually have to deal with concrete, but it feels more effective. Tina, I actually only started exercising right before Christmas and I've been fiddling around trying to find out what works for me. It might look like I have a lot of energy, but the weight lifting I'm doing doesn't require a lot of stamina. I have to put in four one-hour sessions at the gym every week, but during that hour I only do 15 sets of six lifts each -- at the highest weight I can handle. I'd say that takes maybe 15 minutes of the hour that I'm there because you're supposed to rest for three minutes between sets. I'm looking forward to the next phase where it's more reps and less rest. Monica, your night out sounds like fun. I always find it stimulating to go out with adults -- especially ones who don't have kids -- probably because I don't get to do it often. Good for you for sticking to the diet SODA. (Sorry Carey, I agree with Nancy, the name of a person, like my late great-grandfather.) Kim, I'm glad you were able to check in. I've been eating Chinese food a lot lately. I'm totally addicted to egg fu yung, which I never liked pre-lc. Good luck with the meat fast. I hope the scale starts moving for you soon. Who are we missing -- besides Chip, of course Kimmi? And has anyone heard from Sandy? |

Lauren,
If you didn't already start on my pics, would you wait a little bit? I have a different one I like a little better. I just haven't had time to get it posted on here. Thanks! Monica |

Monica, The first time I posted this message, I had somehow missed your pics. I'll wait for the new ones before making the avatar. That one looks great, though.
So I just got back from Gold's... Tarsha, if the clientele at your Gold's is similar to this one, I can see why you like it I'm glad that I didn't start out there or I would have been totally intimidated. I was easily the most out of shape person there, and I'm at least 20 pounds down since joining the Y.Last edited by pokemom : 03-06-2005 at 07:52 PM. |

We have 4 Gold's Gym in Nashville. The one I frequent often they nickname "The Club" because all the women that go there have make-up on and are dressed to kill. No one looks like their there to work-out. It can be pretty intimidating but I go there strictly for business...I'm there to sweat! And then when I look like they do, I might start going there dressed to kill.... ![]() |

Tarsha, I'll have to see what it looks like during the week. I'm used to the Y, which is packed with senior citizens and people like me who, um, aren't quite "there" yet. I'm over being self conscious about that kind of thing, though, so as long as it looks like I can get the machines I want when I want them, I'm switching. Their class schedule looks better, too, although it's still unlikely I'd be able to make many of them.

Thanks Lauren!
I really appreciate you doing that! And let's see your new avatar, there girl. I'm certain your haircut can't be that bad. Dora the Explorer is a cutie-patootie. I am attempting to grow out my hair. My hairdresser has bugged me for years, the kids are always begging, and I've decided I'll give it a try, although it's already driving me NUTS.I found a style I liked in a book at the salon, it's fairly similar to what I do now, but the top is longer and the bangs are more whispy and not so tightly curled. I dunno.... Change is SO hard.Good luck at Gold's Gym if you decide that's what you're going with. We have a gym down the road from here called Healthy Changes, it runs about $40/mo, and it's where I tan at. I just can't justify the monthly fee since I have an elliptical and a rowing machine at home. I do love their Nautilus equipment though. And they also offer tons of classes. Power pacing is the most popular and I am guessing that is either the same or similar to a spinning class??? I'm easily intimidated by all the skinny-minnie's that go there to work out. I'm even self-conscious walking in there to take my 20 minute tan. Crazy, isn't it? Are you sure you want to switch gyms? Isn't there someone at the "Y" that likes to watch you work your delts? Monica, I haven't seen deltoid man all week! I kept running into him the week my schedule was totally off, so maybe I won't see him until the kids throw my life into chaos again. He's nothing compared to the Gold's guys, though.
![]() You should try getting a trial membership to the gym. You might find you don't feel as self-conscious once you get used to it. And if you keep working out, you'll have less of a reason to feel self-conscious in the first place. But you're right, $40 a month is a lot to pay if you have equipment at home. I like the weight machines, which is why I'm willing to pay it. Good luck growing your hair out. I always think that I want to grow mine out, then end up chopping it when it gets to my shoulders. I've been doing the bob thing for a couple years now, but I plan to do something different when I get to goal. You can see my latest haircut next week. I'll try to take a new avatar photo on Saturday. |

Mornin' foxes!
Stoppin' in before heading to work ... I am up a couple lbs this morning. Not sure what it is ... I think I have some ideas of what it might be though, so I'm going to work on them - maybe not enough water ... maybe too much cheese ... maybe some of those wraps - which I thought it was one time before - although I hope that's not it. Come to think of it it might be because I haven't had enough veggies during the week. -shrug- I'll see what I can do about it this week.I'm hitting the gym tonight for the full workout (resistance training and cardio) and then hitting the store for veggies after that. I really need to get these resistance workouts in 3x a week from now on. Monica, you're looking fantastic in that new avatar! Great job hon! I'll catch all yall with personals later on ... gotta get to work! Have a great day fox family! ![]() - Chip

Good Monday morning Foxes! Wow - we went from a quiet Saturday to an all-out post-a-thon last night. |
