<waves> I'm still around... lurking mostly

Today I am busy cleaning up the apartment again... why does it seem that the bathroom and kitchen never stay clean for more than 5 minutes???

I'm not spending as much time online as I used to (I'm sure you all can tell) since I am trying to get back into a routine that might be called 'normal'. My doc thinks my depression is partially due to a lack of structure... so.... I have made up a schedule for each day of the week and am trying to stick to it... today I have planned in some cleaning, a few pages of my language lessons, a session to work on my newest cross stitch project, and some 'me' time which will be used to soak in the tub.

Today is just one of those icky days in general outside (snow, rain, hail, sleet, etc... topped off with LOTS of wind). So... the curtains are all staying SHUT and I've got my CD of tropical rain forest sounds going in the background... I'm hoping I will trick myself into thinking I am somewhere else

Well... 'recess' break is over... time to get back to my schedule!

Good luck with your schedule - I'm sure the structure will do you good. I like structure

Just make sure you include some time for us Ms. Lurker!

Yeah, Debbie - your structure definitely needs to include some time for us. How about every day from 10:30 to 11:30 you get online, starting with us?

I've actually been going to the gym the past few days. 30 minutes each on Saturday and Sunday, and 35 minutes yesterday! Not quite up to my late January standard of over 90 minutes a day, but better than my February average of about 8 minutes a day. Haven't gotten very intense with the exercise yet, either. Working up to it gradually. But I'll get there! And I'll definitely be getting positive instead of negative points for exercising this month!

Let's see, what else is going on challenge-wise. Not much. As I've complained about before, I'm a slow loser, so not much activity there. Just bouncing around with the same few pounds. Drinking lots of water, though. And not drinking caffeine or "bad" sweeteners. I even asked at the pharmacy if the prescription cough syrup was sugar free! (Though I must admit I didn't check to see what kind of sweetner was used.)

Not much going on outside of the challenge either. I'm pretty much back to my normal routine, which is nice. Just need to get the exercise back in.

Have a great day everyone!

I will most definetly try to at least pop in here every day or two! I've been a bit slack in that department lately, but I know I need the support and contact with thers struggling through the same stuff as I am...

I've got to up my carb intake a bit for this month. I am going to be aiming at 50-60g a day as per my doctors recommendation. I've been having some 'digestional issues' lately and the doc thinks it is because there aren't enough carbs for my meds to act on... but I can't come off of the meds since then my sugards bounce around too much... so I'll be trying to incorporate some whole grains into my diet and see if that solves things.

Okay... back to my schedule... I feel like I am back in school!

Happy Tuesday!
No Maw, I am not a man! lol I did look for them where the coffee and teas are in the store and I didn't see them. Did I ask anyone, well errr ummm no....I really am not a man though! lol Today was a good day. I exercised and drank water not as much as I should be I am working on that one. I tried to start a meat fast today...for breakfast I had bacon, for lunch I had tuna and for dinner I had hamburger patties....and well I WAS HUNGRY...I had 1/2 cup of green beans...pretty bad when you feel bad for that huh? My dh ate an orange and it smelled so good he offered me a piece and I almost bit his head off...poor fellow. Debbie, I hope that you are doing better. Structure is a good thing for the vast majority of us, maybe you could make me a schedule to stick to! I really need to become more motivated about some things there just doesn't seem to be enough time in the day to do them. Katie have you slowed down yet? Did you go to your Kung Fu? Have a great night talk to you tomorrow. M

Hey Morgan...I have tried the meat fast...and I just can't stick to it. I have more success with the 80% fat fasting - but even then after 3 days I'm over it lol

Things haven't slowed down, but at least I'm back on my home turf so I can keep some of my 'normal' routine going. I did get back to kung fu and boy did it kick my butt tonight. Looks like in 2 weeks I'll be testing for my next belt YAY!

I'm sweaty & tired..I"m hitting the shower & bed..

G'night all!

Did 45 minutes at the gym today! That makes 140 minutes so far this month (which started on Saturday for this purpose). I only did 240 minutes last month. Ate too much supper. I made short ribs and just kept on eating. Have been drinking lots and lots of water.

Welcome, Morgs! Katie, I saw your "official" notice to Wendy that we have adopted Morgs. Thanks!

Good luck with the meat fast, Morgs!

Good luck with the extra carbs, Debbie. Whole grains. Yummmmm!

So, how's the Kung Fu coming Katie? And how did the matchmaking service go while you were at the conferences?

Here's my menu for Wednesday.

Breakfast - salmon quiche
Lunch - pork and cauliflower salad
Supper - chicken, cauliflower/spinach/egg/cheese casserole
Snacks - decaf and/or herb tea with sf syrup, no cream
No eating after supper except my tea!
Lots of water!
At least 30, but more likely 50, minutes at the gym on the recumbant bike, the treadmill, and stretching

Have a great day everyone!

Hi Ladies

I have told team 5 (Morgan980 and Byn) to start posting here that way you are a team with 5 memebers. Enjoy your new team...BTW: Who is the team leader for this team? Please let me know. I am trying to get a roster made up with teams and the leader. Thank you!

Thanks for helping us to "officially" adopted Morgan and Byn, Kim! And thanks for taking care of the housekeeping details, too.

Welcome, Byn! Now tell us something about yourself. I guess we need to tell you about ourselves, too.

Kim, we had decided that we would rotate the team captain position, each taking one month and then passing it to someone else. Will that work for you or do you need a single person who is the official team captain?

Did everyone see that the new March challenge has been posted? Actually, it's the challenge for March 1 - 15, then there will be another challenge. We get 1 point for each day that we post on our team thead, plus we get 15 more points if we post each day. The idea is to build team spirit and support. Come on, folks - we can do it!

There. I thought I'd do a separate housekeeping type post. Now back to the good stuff!

It is a beautiful day today! Probably won't last though. I think we're supposed to have lots of rain later today. I'm going to go for a walk today and may not make it to the gym. One way or another, I will get in 50 minutes of exercise today, though.

Byn and Morgs, here's a bit about myself. I live in Northern California, right on the coast, in the middle of the redwoods. It's beautiful here. I am a CPA, but I'm taking a couple of years off to figure out what I want to be when I grow up and to take care of some health issues, including my weight. I was fortunate enough to inherit a little bit of money when my great-aunt died - enough to cover my expenses for a couple of years if I'm careful. Bless you Aunt Kay! I have a feeling she would approve. I'd like to go back to school in the fall and get a degree in library science, but I haven't gotten the applications done and it's getting late.

I've been doing a lot of volunteer work while I've been off work. I volunteer one morning a week with a fourth grade class where I work with some of the students who are having trouble with reading and math. One morning I'm at the same school in the library, mending books and checking books in and out so the librarian can work with the kids. Two afternoons a week I work in the Children's Room at the public library doing whatever needs to be done. One afternoon I work behind the scenes in technical services, either helping to get new books ready to put on the shelves or helping to take books that are to be discarded out of the system. (Both great jobs - I see the new books before they get shelved and I get first crack at the old books that they are going to throw away!) And one afternoon a week I work on a research project for the reference librarian. Then one day a week I serve lunch at the St. Vincent dePaul soup kitchen. I really enjoy all the volunteer work, and am not looking forward to going back to work or to school! However, I do like to eat, so guess I'm going to have to do something.

Other than that, I'm single, no kids, one cat. My family is really spread out - parents in Idaho, brothers in Wisconsin, Georgia and Mississippi.

So, how about the rest of you? Come on, everyone tell us about yourselves.

Have a great day everyone, and again, welcome to Byn and Morgs!

Welcome Byn!

And Yay...Morgan is official!

I'll go dig up an old post telling about me...I"m being a big ol' lazy butt and don't feel like typing it all out again

Moved offices and finally got settled at my new desk. Should be good until I have to move again in 3 weeks...isn't construction/remodeling grand!

Whoosh fairy didn't visit like I was hoping last night....but there's always tomorrow!

Have a great day!

Hey Guys,

I am a leftover from Morgans old team. I have dropped out due to knee injury and new grandbaby in the house. I am still watching my carbs and drinking as much water as I can, just not keeping track of it all.

Is it okay if I post here with you eventhough I am not on the challenge? I feel lost, without anywhere to land. I know I could go to the CC Board and join a challenge but they all have so many people already.

Of Course you can post with us Lasi!

I'm so bored here at work today I'm ready to pull my hair out. I'm pretty much ready to go for teaching next week, but I can't get some answers from the project manager hag so there's not much I can do. only 30 min to go and I may have to sneak out early.

I"m not off to a good start this month on water. TMI Warning... I went to the bathroom and my urine is SOOOO dark and not much of it so I was trying to think about how much i've been drinking and it's only been about 30 ounces - of anything, water, teas etc so I"m definitely dehydrated and I'm trying to work on it today but I'm just not thirsty so i'm choking down water. I need to get another 16-24 ounces down today.

My abs are very sore from my class last night - amazing how not doing crunches for a month and then doing about 75 will hurt like the dickens!

I'm going bowling tonight so it will be fun. I'm going to start shutting down and leave 15 min early today.

Catch ya later!

Hey there! Thanks so much for the warm welcome to the team. Welcome Byn! Now we will have lots of support. Hey Lasi! Hope that your knee is better! Today was a pretty good day. The water and exercise were both increased! This meat fast I am afraid is not for me at least for right now. Breakfast was a hotdog. Lunch was a hotdog, hamburger pattie and green beans. Dinner has yet to be decided! I love the challenge for the beginning of the month, great idea Maw! It is something that we all need.
Maw - thanks for your help I greatly appreciate it. It is wonderful that you are able to take some time off for yourself to figure out what you want to do with your life and who you are going to be! I think it is awesome that you volunteer so much of your time to others. I really think that is a gift that is worth so much. I LOVE the library, that sounds like a blast. I lived in middle Georgia for 20 years - great place.
Katie - what exactly do you do as far as work goes? Good luck on your next belt! Sounds fun! GIRL you better drink your water! lol Sorry that your abs are sore..are you trying to be Wonder Woman?! 75 is ALOT. I don't know that I could make it past 25.....hmmm might have to try that! lol
Byn - how are things going? How was your trip?
Debbie - where the heck are you? Are you still in the rain forest? I hope that you are doing okay.
Lasi - keep up the good work! You have had a time this year ...I will help you in what ever way that I can!
Wow this is soo nice. I am thankful for each of you! Have a great night and a wonderful tomorrow. M

Here's my menu for Thursday.

Breakfast - eggs and sausage
Lunch - salmon quiche, salad of broccoli/eggs/mayo
Supper - soup of leftover short ribs and sauce, mushrooms, daikon, cabbage
Snacks - decaf and/or herb tea with sf syrup, no cream
No eating after supper except tea!
Lots of water
Exercise

I got in 70 minutes of walking today - 40 minutes around the neighborhood, and 30 minutes later by the waterfront. Nice.

Kim said that only one person besides myself has given her any ideas for future challenges. Come on, gals - I know you've got great ideas! As I see it, there are 4 parts to this challenge - food, water, exercise and attitude/feelings. What would encourage you to exercise more, or to drink more water, or to eat better? What would help to improve your attitude or to clear the bad thinking that is holding you back? What would help keep you committed to this challenge and this way of life and way of eating?

Hi Katie and Morgs! Where are Debbie and Byn?

Have a great day Thursday!

Yay - Finally broke my month long stall 223! - only one pound but at least the scale is moving again, hope it keeps up for a while I'd love to have a woosh & see the 2-teens by next week but we'll see what my body decides to do

Hi Maw- yay on the walking, I was wondering if we were going to have to get the whip back out ... I will try to come up with some challenges too

Hi Debbie- get your structured hiney in here and let us know how you are

Hi Morgan - For work I am a Technical Trainer, Curriculum Developer and Instructional Designer. In a nutshell I create a computer training program, design the books and then teach them Then on the side I do editing, database & website development. I just wish I could describe my job in less words..like my mom...Nurse lol. Normally I do more than 75 in class, usually it's 3 sets of 50 instead of 25. The 'hard' stuff in our warmup is the 3 sets of pushups (I can do 18 now) and the 3 sets of crunches but the time of how long we do each just depends on if the instructor is watching the clock, usually 1-1.5 min per set, so time to do lots of them - Boy that was long winded

Hi Lasi - How is the knee & baby Can't believe I forgot to ask yesterday

Hi Byn - Hope you check in soon, looking forward to meeting you!

Time to start getting ready for work. I'm sure I'll be back today, I'm kind of a chatty cathy lately

Have a great day

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. I am at work, so not much time. Knee hurts today some. Baby is fine. We are dealing with a single mom, who has drug history. DSS is involved. I will go into it more later. A little stressful at times.

Have a great day

Morning everyone!

No whip needed at the moment, Katie! I was just waiting until I got some energy back to start in again. I started at the gym again on Saturday, and have exercised every day since then, adding time and/or intensity. I love walking when the weather is nice (it never gets hot here, and seldom really cold - but can be rainy and gray and overcast) but I figure that the gym gives me a better workout. I do, however, think it's pretty silly to drive to the gym to use the treadmill! Today I'll go to the gym this morning, and then walk along the waterfront again this evening.

I have an appointment with my depression doc this afternoon, and I'm going to talk to him about St. John's Wort. My insurance runs out the end of the year, and I'd like to switch to something less expensive than the non-generic stuff I take now. But I want to be sure to do it under a doctor's care, not on my own.

I get most of the d-relationships, Lasi, but what is DSS? Was the baby born with drug problems or was the mom clean enough that the baby was born ok?

Did I get you right, Katie - that you normally do 50 crunches in a minute? You really move!

I changed my menu for the day. Wasn't happy with what I came up with last night. Of course, it occurred to me that I was flying high on codiene when I did it! The codeine does stop the cough so I can sleep, but boy does it make me spacey! However, I am doing much better, and my cough generally stays pretty much away until the evening. I'm hoping to stop the codeine in a couple of days.

So here's my new menu -
Breakfast - salmon quiche
Lunch - broccoli/sausage/cream
Supper - vegetable beef stew with sour cream
Snacks - decaf and/or herb tea with sf syrup, no cream
No eating after supper except my tea!
Lots of water!
I'll go the gym, probably for about 50 minutes, then walk for half an hour so along the waterfront this evening.

Have a great day everyone!
