Good Morning Hot Mamas

I'm still fighting the crud here - tired, sinuses draining, coughing, no motivation to do much of anything - uugg!! I was hoping by now to be getting back in the swing of life. I just hate being sick!

My measurements and weight have stayed the same also. I am disappointed in myself, but I can only do better. I was going great guns until I got sick - had even lost a few pounds.

Feb. 1 weight: 286
Feb. 15 weight: 286
Feb. 1 hips: 61
Feb. 15 hips: 61
Feb. 1 waist: 49.5
Feb. 15 waist: 49.5
Total inches lost (waist+hips) - rounded to .5 inches:0
Total weight lost:0

Diana - I hope you feel better soon!! You are doing so great on your food - WTG!!

Lisa - Maybe you measured yourself in a different spot?? Please take care of yourself and your BS numbers. LC is definitely the way to go to help bring those down.

Hi Betty and Misty

Have a great day everyone!

Sorry everyone is still sick. Schools within a couple or three hours drive from here are shutting down for viruses. My students all have green snot running down their chins and are coughing all over us so it's just a matter of time. I have allergies today, but will be popping vitamins and using hand sanitizer and cleaning the desks today. Ya'll take care of yourselves.

Stats not good today:

Measurements the same - hips 57, waist 48
Scale - up 4 to 273.

I made Valentine candy for dd's friends and also had my students make some, but didn't even take a nibble yet I'm still up on the scales. Dh got me some lc candy and took me out for steak yesterday. Blah, have an upset tummy that kept me up all night. I really don't like eating out because I know it never sits well later.

B - having leftover fish fillets and green tea
L - the usual pepperoni and cheese
D - fish fillets and broccoli

I found some mis-priced fish Sunday at the store so got 3 packages. Well, actually it was some that didn't get the raised price so it could be on sale, know what I mean?

Thanks Diana. I'm worried myself. I don't understand why it's taking so long for them to go down. I don't understand why we didn't go straight to insulin to get them down and then ween off from there. Anyway, I go back to the doctor tomorrow, so we'll see.

My weight's the same.
Measurements hips -1, waist same
I did the body thing online, so I get that!
Water 1503 oz

What did I miss?

Hang in there everybody!

Good Morning

I'm running kind of late here, so not a lot of time to chat.

Misty - hi hey, I have a discrepancy on your stats. I had you as of the end of last month at hips 60, and waist 42. Well, I guess we'll catch it up at the end of the month.
Sorry to hear about your grandma, but glad she is doing better

Diana - I hope that knee starts feeling better!! Your food intake looks great!

Lisa - good luck with your doctor. Let us know what he/she says.

Betty - thanks for the visual on the green snot
I can usually find great prices on fish this time of year (Lent). I make a mean fish stir fry with a spicy asian sauce no one likes but me and everyone complains that it stinks up the house yum!!

Not much new here, still trying to get healthy. I'm going to go exercise - at least I can do that.

Have a good one!

Well, the Health Educator met with me today and she wasn't unsupportive, but not supportive either when it comes to Atkins. What she said was this . . . if I'm not losing weight and my bs aren't going down, I should look at other diets because Atkins is not something I can do for life. So, I can't drag myself away from Atkins and I'm going to try my hardest to make this work. We'll see what happens! I meet next week with the Diabetic RN and she may have more to say, who knows. Thanks for all your support you guys, I've really come to be attached to you!

I'm going to post this on the main board too, the more support the better, but I wanted to share with you guys first.

Good Morning

Lisa hey girl we can do this together. I know LC eating is the way for me because it does lower my bs. I also have a heckuva time losing any weight though. I think that is the nature of the beast, and I also have overeating issues. The nutritionists I have met with have never supported Atkins either which is frustrating. If I ate the way they told me my bs numbers would be in the 300s too. I will be here to support you all the way!!
I have to watch my calories too or I don't lose any weight. But at least while eating LC I hardly have the cravings I would have just eating Low cal.

I know for myself that being sick lately is a hard time for me to be strict with my food, but that's what I need to do to start losing again. I eat good throughout the day, then I have been having too many snacks at night again Can you all just move in with me and be the snack police here?? It's back to counting those calories! That was my goal for the month and the past 2 weeks have sucked for me! It's time to get back with the program.

I have ordered some used exercise videos and bought a yoga mat for stretching which I'm planning on trying out tonight. I really want to increase my flexibility and think I can incorporate streching into my day pretty easily.

Hi Diana, Betty and Misty!! I hope everything is going good with you all!

Have a great LC day!

So what is your carb count daily? She said that part of my problem may be that I'm eating too little in the carb count and my body thinks it's moving into starvation mode and that's why I'm not losing. Hmmm, I don't know!

I'm just going to stick with it for a while longer and see what happens. Maybe I'll try bumping my carbs up for a while and if nothing comes of it, going back down?

Hope, STAY AWAY FROM THE SNACKS! There, did that help?

Good Morning Hot Mamas

I had shooting knee pain all night - uugg!! I did get some sleep though. I am so glad it's Friday and I have a 3 day weekend It's been a long week at school.

Lisa - when I have good bs control my carbs are 20-30, getting most of them from low glycemic veggies, LC dairy, and a few berries. I also exercise daily, usually 30 min, which helps a lot too. I don't know about starvation mode from lack of carbs, I have always heard that was from lack of calories. Are you on meds? My bs numbers took a little while to respond, esp my fasting numbers (which are still somewhat on the high end). Hey, thanks for the shout out It helped!!

Does anyone have any exciting weekend plans? I'm thinking about seeing a movie and getting in a bunch of exercise since I have been lagging in that area. Fun huh??

TGIF!!

Lisa - I'm with Mary about the starvation being related to calories rather than carbs. The only time I really lose is when I do the meat fast, which really stinks (not the meat but the fact that I've got to go to extremes). I too have to count calories. Anything much over 1000 and I only maintain. And to top it all off, I've come to believe that not all calories are equal.

Mary - Geez, I'm having a hard time too. TOM is back and so are the munchies, so I gained. It's not been that many bad things but just the fact that I've not kept the calories down.

It's going to be a quiet, but busy weekend. Woohoo, no kids! A sleepover elsewhere and another out of town field trip, but I'll be worrying. I think Sunday, I'm going to skip a meeting and go to a show instead. Ya'll have a good weekend!

Yay Saturday! Hello Team

It felt so good to sleep in this morning! Now just sitting here drinking my coffee (I know it's a no-no, but it's my only vice!) with a 3 day weekend ahead of me - mmmmmm!

I have just finished putting in my totals into Excel and some are not good! Being sick really messed this month up for me I figured out what I need to do the rest of the month to get where I want to be. I was going to shoot for the 141 oz of water a day, but I don't think I'll make my goal for water since I would have to drink 180 oz a day for the next 10 days. In order to meet my exercise goal I need to exercise 60 min every day for the rest of the month - this I might be able to do and I'll go for it. I figured out my carbs and they are OK for the month.

This dang cold sure has lingered with me and I am still draining and coughing. I suck on probably 7-8 sugar free cough drops a day. They don't list on the package what they have in them, but I imagine they must have some sort of AS in them making me have cravings - uugg!!

I watched Shall We Dance with Richard Gere last night and it was a nice feel-good chick flick and he is great to watch dance. Jennifer Lopez was the other dancer and she had beautiful dance moves too. It made me want to get up and dance

Betty - have a great no-kids weekend!

Hi Diana, Misty, and Lisa How's everything with you guys?? Stop in and chat if you get a chance and have a wonderful LC weekend!!

I'm going to go exercise in a bit then get the crew going on the house cleaning.

Good Morning Team

Well, I made my goal of 60 min of exercise yesterday - I even did 10 more minutes for a total of 70 I have already done 20 min this morning and will finish up later this afternoon with weight lifting, stretching, and Body Flex. My sister got me a bunch of older exercise videos on Ebay for my Bday and they got here yesterday. I watched the Body Flex one and tried it out. It's a funny breathing technique with isometrics that is suppose to help you lose inches. I guess I'm willing to try it and see how it works. I love my stretching videos! They are so relaxing and I feel so good afterwards. I can't do all the stretches, but I do what I can.

The weather here is dreary. Maybe I'll curl up with a good book this afternoon.

I had a good food day yesterday, but I did have to battle the Easter Candy Devil at the grocery store, but I won!!!

How's everyone doing?? Out having fun without me??

Have a great Sunday!

What's wrong with LCF lately? I've tried getting on but it freezes up when I hit the reply button. It's done this about 4 times this month and again this morning so I just give up trying to post.

Blah, this hasn't been a good month. I don't know what's wrong. I just can't get into the swing of things. I forgot my lunch today and had to buy a lunch so who knows what the carb count was. There's no way I can get my exercise up 10% as I'm just barely getting it done as it is.

My TOM is so messed up, and has been the last 3 times, that I don't know if it's coming or going. Anyone else with theirs messed up? I'm having such cravings that I never had before and it starts very slow for a few days before things get going like they should. I had thought maybe it was due to LCing too much so I eased up this month and am trying to tell myself not to stress too much over counts because I have to get this thing back to normal. I'm coming up on the age of "the change" so don't know if maybe that's it or due to losing 50 lbs. or both or what. I've always before been like clockwork.

So, sorry, but don't count on me helping the team any this month with my pitiful stats. Since upping the carbs doesn't seem to be helping with TOM, I guess I'll start back on 20 per day like I had been doing. Of course I've only upped them for a couple weeks so I dunno. The scale isn't happy. My jeans are getting tight. But my hair isn't falling out like it was so that's one thing that's better, and I know it'll start falling out again when I get strict with the counts again.

It's not healthy being so overweight, but I also am seeing it's not healthy eating LC for extended periods. I've crunched the numbers and know I can't lose weight if I don't cut the calories and the carbs to waaaay low so it's a Catch 22. I know I'll be happier and fell better and will be able to do more with the family and life in general when the pounds are gone (hey, I already am!) so I know which path to choose, but I'm thinking I should also give my body a break every now and then. BTW, this is month 7 on LC, so, yes, my body is telling me something if I only knew what it was.

Anyway, those are my ramblings for the day.

Hi gang

Betty - this month has been hard for me too. My period has been messed up for several years so I'm not much help with that. The one thing that I have felt that has helped in the past is progesterone cream. It is a cream you rub into your wrists or abdomen every day and it helped me regulate my period and also helped bring back a little libido that had been gone. I still miss periods, but I feel better when I use it. You can get it through netrition if you can't find it where you live.

Just do the best you can. If you don't make a stinking point this month it's OK, just do what you need to do for YOU.

When the message board is acting up I will write my post in notepad and save it and then paste it in - or copy it to the clipboard before I hit submit. That way it doesn't diassappear. That is SO frustrating when that happens!

I feel like my period is right ready to come too. I have a HUGE zit on my face and it's all red and hurts! I made a lc impossible chocolate cream pie this morning (OMG it is good!!) and have had almost half of it It's a good thing there are only 3 carbs per slice. I'll get the kids to eat the rest of it. I also made a bunch of salmon patties for lunch this week.

I did my 60 min of exercise today so I am right on track with that. I did an old video - Buns of Steel for beginners this morning - talk about hot buns!!

I'm doing the protein thing starting tomorrow and hoping to shake some pounds loose.

Hi Misty, Diana, and Lisa!!!! I hope all is well

Gonna go grill some steak for supper. Have a great evening!

Mary - thanks for the shoulder. It's just that I've always been regular as clockwork so this is a little nerve racking. Blah, zits!

Can't stay long because we have state testing today so can't be late to school. Just wanted to let you all know that alfalfa sprouts are LC! Of course you knew that. Didn't have any lettuce for fajita's last night but had some sprouts... yum! Hey, it's a new taste which could be incorporated into other dishes for a change of pace.

Good Morning Hot Mamas

I'm still struggling with cravings/moodiness here. TOM still hasn't started, but like I said before I don't always have have a flow. I call it an invisible period I just wish it would get over!! At least the huge zit is going away.

I did do my 60 min of exercise yesterday, but didn't make it 100% on the meat fast. I'll try again today.

Betty - we don't start testing for another month here. I am doing some test prep with some of the kids. I love sprouts too, but I never think to get them. I'll have to get some.

Diana - your job sounds so stressful and germful Keep spraying and stay healthy!!

Hi Misty and Lisa Are you 2 doing OK? Please check in when you have some time. I miss you!!

I'm making a new crockpot recipe today called carnitas. It's roast beef with some mexican seasonings. I'll let you all know how it turns out. I love easy crockpot recipes.

Have a great LC day!

Good morning Lisa and Misty!

Diana - Mary's right, your job sure sounds germy. I couldn't handle it. Schools around the state have been closing because of so many out for the flu or whatever so I've been having the kids spray down the tables and desks. Knock on wood, our school is fine but everyone is sniffling and hacking because of all the nasty weather. Of course, my students think nothing of letting green snot drip down their chins and we have to clean them up so it's only a matter of time...

Mary - Glad the zit is gone, lol. You're doing so well with your exercises!!! I'll try to start the meat fast with you today to get rid of all this puffiness. I've got to think of something to do with my lunches because my aide is getting into them and my water bottle. She's a problem that's getting worse every day and is driving us all nuts. I don't want to have to buy school lunches because they're certainly nowhere near LC but geez enough is enough. I've suspected she's been bothering my food and sure enough one of the kids announced yesterday she'd been touching my drink but couldn't explain what she'd done to it. Amazing that some adults have to act so childish and petty.

TGIF!!

I got a new kitchen toy the other day, a Magic Bullet, and it has been so much fun for the boys and myself. My oldest loves to try anything different and he has been making lots of different kinds of smoothies and trying out some of the other recipes. I have used it to make protein shakes. So far we just love how it works.

I haven't been doing the meat/egg fast. I felt just too restrictive this time. I'm sure I'll try it again sometime.

Betty - someone you work with gets into your food?? That is horrible and so rude!!! I'd be really mad too.

Have a great LC day!

Good Morning Hot Mamas

I hope everyone is having a good weekend. The weather has been awesome! It was 60 degrees here yesterday so we all got out to enjoy it - the boys and their friends shooting golf balls into the field next to us and I sat out on the patio and read and watched them.

It's time to report in the for the month. Please post or PM me either today or tomorrow by 6 Central time.

Here's how I did - not nearly as good as I wanted, but with being sick it was tough to make up the points at the end.

Exercise +50 points (29 minutes per day)
Weight loss -5 points (288, up 2 today )
Water +85 points (112 oz per day)
Inches +0 points (stayed the same - hips 61, waist 49.5)
Diet pop -5 points
Caffeine -9 points
Average monthly carbs -0 points
Model +100 points
Carb goal +55 points
Increased 10% exercise +0 points

Total points = 271

Have a great LC Sunday!

I just got a phone call out of the blue from one of dd's friend's relatives. Seems she'd gotten our number "just in case" a long time ago and felt it was time to call. This poor child has a bad home life and with the step mother pg things are only going to get worse. Dh and I had agreed a few years ago that if the girl ever needed a place to go, she could come here. Anyway, I got the lady's number and am so glad there's someone else who's ready with a safety net. It angers me so that some people are allowed to be parents. It's nothing CPS would take but it's still neglect. I understand the girl loves her family and that's what's keeping her there, but she's getting older and I'm hoping one day she'll have the courage to make the break. She simply doesn't have a future if she stays in that situation. She's not dumb, but she's barely passing because she can't study at home and the parents seem to go out of they way to keep the kids from getting their homework done. I don't know. There's nothing to be done now, but it is a relief to know someone else looking out for her.

Anyway, here's my pitiful stats -

35 pts. = exercise
-5 pts. = weight gain (up 5 to 274)
35 pts. = water
0 pts. = measurements - hips (57, same), waist (48, same)
0 = used only Splenda in soft drinks
0 = caffeine
0 = carbs - I'm not counting carbs this month because my system is all messed up. I'm not intentionally pigging out but something's got to give. Also, see * below!
100= I did the model but imo it was a waste of time as it didn't show me anything, whatever.
0 = didn't increase exercise
0 = reported stats on 15th

Holler at me if I've missed something. It'd be easier to list everything if the powers that be would put everything in list form at the beginning of the month so we could just fill in the blank.

* Oh, you won't believe this!!! Have I told y'all this? I don't know what to do about my lunches and my water bottle. It seems my aide has been messing with my drinks. I suspected it but thought I was being silly until a few days ago. I came into the room with a nagging feeling about a canned drink on my desk and sure enough a student announced she'd touched it. Well, this student is autistic and only said it because he knew whatever she'd done was wrong. Of course he couldn't tell me what she'd done so I threw it out. I don't know what to do about lunches now that I can't take them from home. Some days the school might have a chef salad but some days I'm going to be out of luck. I can't keep anything in the lounge fridge because she'll still mess with it; I've seen her do it to others. I really don't want to have to keep it in my locked car, but what's a person supposed to do? No, it's no use telling the principal because he won't do anything and that'll just give psycho woman something else to snipe about. Sorry, team, but it may be another month when this sub job is over before my stats are back where they're supposed to be.

Ok, I've rambled enough. Hope everyone is having a nice weekend. For once, the sun came out a little while ago but it's too muddy to walk. Everyone is sick around here so I'm trying to get my family to stay home and take vit C. My other aide called last night to tell me her son (in dd's class!) who she'd brought into our room Friday because he was sick is now running a 103 temp. It's this nasty weather that is never going to end. Stay well, ladies!

Good Morning

Betty - it surprises me too that some people are allowed to be parents. I hope your DD's friend is going to be OK now. Your food situation at school is really the pits!! Maybe you can carry your lunch with you in a fanny pack? Do you have a locking file cabinet handy? I know it's not fair that you should have to suffer because someone else (a paid employee no less!!) is messing with your food. Hang in there!!

I'm trying a new crockpot recipe today and need to go get stuff in there and then go exercise.

Have a great Mond
