Club Ocotillo ~ Team #1 ~ 1/8/05

Morning Everyone! WE GOT SOME SNOW!! This kidlets are so excited. It is just a light dusting down here and I am sure that Liz probably got a good amount. Her area of the state usually gets more.

This A.M. I had a 3 egg sort of Omelet thing. Took 3 eggs scrambled them in a bowl, put them in a ZipLock back and then put some shredded cheese, a few sausage links and some salsa in and then closed it up. Microwaved it for about 2.30 minutes and checked on it about half way. The eggs were sort of fluffy and everything was done. Put a bit of sour cream on top and it was really yummy. I will have to make it again. My BF told me about it.

Well I better go shower so that we can get a move on for the day. Maybe I will make a nice salad for myself to take not knowing what the day will hold. Yep, I think I will.

Type to you all later and I hope everyone is having a fantastic day.

I know as your fearless leader (captain) that I have let you all down but it just goes to show, I AM HUMAN!

Yes, the light I was meaning was the LC Beer. I have maybe 3 of them. This is not a NORMAL thing for me to go do. Infact usually if I drink anything it is a Vodka Colins. But I am NOT a big alcohal drinking anyways. SO this is not a typical thing for me to go do. But the extra was burned off and burned off well!!!! I know TMI, but sorry I had to go there.

So Coach, do you have to really delete the past posts? Is this something that you decided or was it an administration thing? I know myself I would like them to not be deleted. I love going back and reading old posts.

Okay I really do need to get moving.

Hello all. Yes, yes, it's a snowing here! I got up at around 6:30am to let my whining dog out to potty and as I was walking to the back door I spotted the "white" on the wooden fence. LoL I start exclaiming that it is 'white' outside to wake-up the household. Hubby says "let's go and shop now" so we bundled the little one up and went to Walmart. Wow, there were only like 30-40 cars in front of Walmart. LoL We had the store to ourselves. On the way out my son were doing the snow thing waiting for hubby to load up the truck. came home unloaded the groceries and played in the snow. I made a yummy breakfast for eveyone.
Breakfast consisted of yellow onion, green onion, tomatoes, bell peppers, cilantro, mushroom and cheese omelette with pork link sausage, ooooooohhh baby, let me tell ya *licking lips.*

Tammy baby!! So you *worked-out* lastnight? Good job! I'm soooo happy that you had a good time with your hubby and enjoyed a few lower carb beers. I'm NOT a beer/ wine drinker myself. I'm a sweet Liquer person.

Sweets, I take a multi-nutrient support formula. Don Lemmon's "Know How" If you would like to checkout his formula, just do a search for Don lemmon. He's also a PT and physical fitness lecturer, he answers emails fast. He helps with dietary questions too.

Ally, what a day you had lady!

Hi there Shawn!

ciao!

.

Oh, on a side note.....I want to make it our mission to beat team 10 (Octillo)....they have Shawn (toomuchtoolose), Wendy(Sweets), and Tammy(Tammygh) on their team (3 of the leaders).... We can so kick their butt!!!

This post was on the team 12 thread. In PM's, I've received similar pokes for fun in terms of challenging me and team 1. Others are looking to THIS team for an example, a benchmark in measuring success. Some are motivated by challenging Team Ocotillo - and it's team members! I don't see any plusses in not playing the game to win. If this was JUST an individual event (and the stats are reported individually as well as team so HALF of the challenge IS), I will give any single challenger a run for their money. I am out to win. Play to win.

My best freind was here this weekend - taking time away from his family to visit. He and I attended the same college and we've both grown as professionals in our respective fields. Oh yes, we went out on the town. He drank quite a few brews. I drank WATER the ENTIRE night. We went to a sports bar where he ate spring rolls, cheese sticks, and a huge cheeseburger (he is thin too). I ate the turkey, lettuce, tomato, and cheese out of a tortilla wrap. He was so impressed with my focus and dedication. He began asking if my challenge could help his wife lose a few pounds (I was the best man at their wedding). I said it was dependent upon her DEDICATION TO SUCCESS. A half-hearted approach will ensure failure.

Tammy, you know what you need to do. Your decisions affect your team. Take charge. A few low carb beers are not a big deal but how you *counter* any slip-ups is what was missing from your post (i.e. extra exercise). Where do you go from here is the question. Be postive, you can do it! I am happy to hear you had fun but just remember the purpose of the donut challenge - to look your enemy in the eye and walk away successful.

Sweets. Did you drop out of our team? LOL Post no matter what. Your contribution is essential. Also, I take the Atkins "Nutra Pak" - it is 7 pills that I take daily. It contains all vitamins, minerals, and essential oils - per his book.

Ally, you gotta get the exercise in. I am very happy you have been eating at or below your target carb goal - terrific. Try to push yourself to meet standards you never thought possible. I.E. shoot for the highest points range in all categories. Just be careful with the pop and caffeine. I am glad you will be posting more often too.

Liz, you rock baby. Tammy helped you get past your problem and you've proven to be rock-solid. You motivate me and I am so happy with your FULL dedication - day 9 already can you believe it. See, it gets easier as we go doesn't it!? Keep up the good work.

Today's stats for me: 15gms/carbs, 50 minutes of exercise, 200oz/water by day-end. I can't wait to report on the 15th.

Unhappy yikes

I'm going to post this as quickly as possible bc I have already attempted to post, and got a Blue Screen of Death. I guess the computer isn't totally fixed.

Tammy girl, please don't take what I said to be harsh. I didn't mean it to be, just didn't want to sugar coat anything. You are NOT a disappointment, you are AWESOME and are melting the weight away, and I am VERY proud of you. And I'd want you to do the same for me!!

On another note, we had to reformat the computer, so I lost my spreadsheet and pretty much everything. Yall please take my warning, MAKE A BACKUP!!! I have mine on paper, and the only thing I really lost were the measuremtns of my ankle and wrist, so that's okay. Just please yall, make 2 copys, be it on another drive, paper or something.

I know I have slacked too on the excercising. I am making a commitment now to raise the bar!

Yall are all beauiful, keep up the great work!!! And oh no, no one is gonna beat us!!! We want it too damn bad!!

Can someone email me the spreadsheet Happinessisagirl@aol.com

And did it ever get fixed where on the other column, it subtracted the inches? If not it's cool, that's not hard to do manually.

Nutrients

This is what I take.....

I have the starter pack from the Atkins book as well. I don't take everything, because I already have PLENTY of vitamins that I need to take.

I take a Prenatal Vitamin, oil supplement (Take this, it will keep you from losing hair if you lose weight really fast!! lol) and I usually take at least 2 dieters advantages from the pack....it makes me REALLY thirsty.

Going to update make sure my calander is completely updated, so that I can work on my spreadsheet once I get it.

Did it and won!

I surely did. Got back home a few minutes ago and I couldn't wait to post. I completed 1 of 2 DD challenge successfully! I went to Henry's Donuts (very nice donut/coffee shop) and the smell in there was absolutely wonderful. I decided on a bottled water and a cup of decaf americano. I actually stayed longer then the required 15 minutes with my family, as they ate their fill of sweets and they were congratulating me on not even thinking of eating a donut. I'll get DD#2 completed by weeks end.

My water intake has been consistently in the highs with at least 148ozs and up.

Exercise, is my strong point. I cancelled my workout for tomorrow because of the snow and ice on the streets ( PT is about 35 minutes from me)and now my little one is having flu-like symptoms. I'll keep him home from pre-school, but I'll have to bring him to the chiropractor with me. I was hoping to get all straightenedout tomorrow drive my car to a park and do alot of cardio. I'll just come home and abuse the treadmill.

Shawn, Ally, Tammy and Sweets, we all work so hard to make 'us' a better person. Theres no turning back, why would you, right? In a year from now (which will come very fast) you'll be the person in the body that you always longed for. You'll be able to move with ease. Feel comfortable in social surroundings. Be able to throw anything on at the last moment and know that you look good. Your endurance level will be so much more higher then it is now. Look at all the benefits. I want it and I'm not taking a back-step on the side or to no one. You all have the desire to obtain it now go and do it!

We're gonna be "The Biggest Loser"

ciao!

That's progress Tammy. Now your fat cells are shrinking, your muscles are growing and every month will bring more happiness and a sense of pride. You'll only get better! WTG!!

Streets are icy outside, youngest son is at home, middle son has school 2 hours late because of icy conditions and I REFUSE to venture out to the chiropractor with the condition the streets are in.

Question....

Are you guys counting real carbs or net carbs???

What are your thoughts on real vs. net? I have been reading alot of great arguments for BOTH ways of tallying your carbs...... I can see the pros and cons to both.......hmmmmm

I cheated and took measurements and weighed yesterday (I KNOW I KNOW...but I need that weekly check in for myself...I do MUCH better with it) I was pleased considering the ribs hindered my exercise alot last week. Down 5lbs and 3.25 inches!!!

I fear that around our first stats report.....TOM may be rearing it's ugly head!! ARGH.....but that just means the final stats report in will be that much better! Sorry Shawn if that was too much information!

Very Nice Tammy

Hey Tammy, very nice progress! Those are some very respectable progress stats in one month! Just think what those numbers will equate to in one year! I mean, it'll be like being a completely different person. You are definetly more than a significant contributor to our teams points standings! Keep up the good work as our team leader. Thanks for the added motivation.

Liz, Ally, I am so happy that neither of you guys has waivered from our target either. Your daily posts are just great. I feel like I know you when you talk about your lives. We are thousands of miles apart but are working closely as a team. We are almost in the 4 corners of the United States! Ha ha. Cool. We really have something to be proud of as individuals. It is important to employ a mindset that begins with a positive approach followed by follow through. Keep up the good work!

There won't be one single aspect of our lives that won't improve - significantly. We are in day 10 and I must say from my honest opinion, this is getting much easier. My cravings are nonexistent - NO JOKE! How nice for a change geez. I am really sore today from working out my entire body in a class I took at my local gym early Saturday morning. It works everything and lasts for an hour - then I rode the exercise bike for another 20 minutes or so. What a great feeling. My shirt was soaked man. I've been doing Tae-bo at home for the last month and can finally kick to eye level (I am 6'1") so my flexibility increased to levels I am happy with too. Energy is sky high. Sleep is at 7-8 hours. I wake with major drive for the new day along with a noticable increase in mental clarity as well. I mean, it just amazes me how quickly changes become very evident. Think about how fast a year goes by - we are already 2.7 percent into our "year long" challenge. I've been reviewing the points and I will NOT have any deductions whatsoever, will max in all points areas except exercise. I will probably be in the 85pt range. I did'nt have a chance to complete one of the donut challenges due to time constraints but I will definetly be doing that just as soon as I can.

Today's menu/activities (in addition to work) - Breakfast - smoked sausage, lunch - water water water, dinner - Prime Rib, mushrooms, green beans, and a small salad with lettuce, tomato, and sour cream. Water will exceed 200 ounces (daily avg so far), exercise will have to exceed an hour today. I ask all team members to push themselves in this area. Think of the importance of exercise like this: The low carb diet will make you look good with clothes on. Add exercise and you will also look good naked. Your choice. I know what I need. BOTH!!!

*Raises water glass* and says "Here's to ya'll performers!"

TOM - oh!

I just read Sweets post. You referred to TOM. At first, I had no idea what that meant - well, cuz it is not a guy thing! Okay. LOL. Hey cool 5lbs on day 10 WITH a LACK of exercise. That is super awesome. I am thrilled. Once your ribs begin healing, think about how fast those numbers will fall! I am super duper excited now. Guess what. I am going to weigh in today - just for a check. Anyone wanna place wagers on my loss? Oh, boy hold on everyone, this shuttle just may be ready for takeoff. Houston, is it a go? Tammy, Liz, Ally, Wendy......you guys buckled in?

Sweets, I'm counting real carbs, only because I'm doing it clean for me. Eventually, in a couple of months, I might decide to net carb it. I've done the net before and lost, but very slowly. My thing is: That if you net carb then use it on fresh healthy veggies, and berries. I wouldn't net on processed LC bars, etc. It definitely works for some, just that my approach is wholesome this time. I'm 44 and I really need to get healthy, my body is constantly sending signals that it's breaking down. Let's just say, I'm feeling the aches and pains alot more.
LoL TOM is here for me right now.
Considering all that you've been through lately you stats as of today are very impressive Sweets!

Okay Shawn, did you weigh, measure? I'm thinking you've lost approximately 13 pounds? I'm so stoked that you are exercising your butt off Shawn! You will have that much more lean muscle mass on you, and boy will you be changing the SHAPE of things to come

I just got home and out of my gym clothes. I set the oven to 400 degrees. I prepped the Prime Rib for dinner tonight (with mushrooms and green beans mmm). I opened the spreadsheet to log my very first weight loss entry:

Sheesh!!!

I got a LOT to post here, guys, so I hope you're ready...first before I forget. I am counting net carbs. I mean, it doesn't really make that much of a difference, because I mostly eat protein anyway, and what I DO eat that is carbs is like lettace and veggies. However, I have been eating the "frankenfood" and I haven't had a problem with it. We'll see...

No one has sent me the stats sheet. Now ya'll, I need it before this week is over, so I can report lol so SOMEBODY PLEASE SEND IT TO ME.

I am really proud of my little Loser book I've put together. It's basically one of those little folders with the brads in it and the pockets. I have the pic and calander that Shawn put together first in it, then followed by a journal that I found on here a while back. It's so cute and keeps up with EVERYTHING!!

Now, I need to say thanks to Shawn for the kick in the butt. I excercised 47 minutes yesterday, walked 3 miles with weighted balls. It was awesome. Liz, are you doing Leslie Sansone?? Then today, I did 2 miles for 30 minutes...with weights. My carbs are SUPER low right now. I don't think I even had 10 yesterday, may not even have 10 today. Water is going down like I'm floating in a giant swimming pool inside. And I am burning MAJOR keytones!!

Now, on a personal note, NYDH got jumped and robbed last night by like 6 dudes that he just met at a friend's house when he went over there to watch football. He's banged up pretty bad, and his face is just too pretty to be messin up...he's got lots of training in kempo or whatever it's called, but, he'd been drinking, and when there are 5-6 of them running at you, what do ya do, ya know? They tried to kill him. One dude had his arm around his neck, and he actually had to pretend like he passed out...my baby playin possom. Just so they'd get off him and quit kickin him. All of this over $25...it's insane. They told the guy to quit choking him bc he was passed out, and the guy said "NO I'm gonna KILL him" Anyway, they pulled him off Rob, and that's why he got up, ducked a few blows and drove off. The police are really involved, and they are giving him information about the Witness Protection Program, because apparently these guys are in a bad gang. It sucked, especially seeing as how they robbed him of all of the money we have right now....except like change.

Oh well, life goes on, right? He's fine and I am SO thankful. Please be careful out there yall! I am so proud of ALL of you. I was REALLY tempted to measure today too, but I was like...it's late, I can't measure NOW! LOL So, I guess I'll wait til Saturday.....if I get a stats sheet!!!!!
