Good Morning Ladies!

I sucked in the water department yesterday only imbibing 64 oz. That, coupled with a high sodium day has put me at 345.8 lbs. *sigh* So, definitely doing the meat/fat thing and drinking all my water today. Will be getting a LOT of exercise as we have to go to Rochester this morning and bring home everything my husband has inherited from his Aunt. This will involve numerous trips up and down a steep flight of stairs carrying things out to the UHaul. I am SOOOO not looking forward to this trip as it's going to take us about 2 hours to get there, as Rochester just is NOT an easy place to get to. I am making a protein shake for breakfast. Will probably pack a can of tuna and some mayo for lunch. Have to run go pack lunches for the kids and DH, so don't have a lot of time. Rochester is just not close to any major highways and it's a two laner in and out with speed limits at 55 mph. Coupled with numerous residents, any trip to or from the place winds up taking forever. Add a UHaul to that (thankfully I'll not be driving that one) and I imagine this is going to take the better portion of the day.

Onwards and downwards!

Happy Sunday Morning! Thanks for starting this week's thread, Erin, and to Michelle for alerting me to notes I should have seen. <shaking head> I have two big work projects finishing this week, which means (I hope) that my brain cells will start recognizing each other.

Down to 214 this morning. Lovely!

Erin, have a good safe trip. Ya know, here in the South (always capitalized!), "UHaul" is "Y'allHaul".

HI ladies,
Chelle-You go girl! I am so happy for you! Where do you get the walking tapes. I'm afraid I haven't seen them. Do you excercize in the house with these tapes? Everything went great with my nephew. I dropped him off a few hours ago I sure do miss him, but I'll get to spend time with him soon I'm sure.
Erin-I have been getting in my 20 carbs and some days I have trouble getting them all in. Except today...I'm not sure how to put this in fit day. I ate tortilla soup today. A big bowl. I picked all the tortilla slivers out (this wasn't an easy ordeal.). If you go to www.babyacapulco.com go to menu and then Baby A's soup and that's what I had. I thought it would be safe but when I tried putting it in fit day I couldn't believe my eyes on how many carbs there were. I broke it down by ingredient, but unfortunately I do not know exactly what the soup(liquid) is made of. I definately learned my lesson on eating out. I just hope I didn't throw myself out of ketosis. Let me know what you all think. I don't want to let you ladies down. Maybe I should do the meat/fat thing too. I am on day 15 and I'm going to weigh tomorrow and let you know the results.

hello again everyone. I am not having such a great day in the water dept. only 40oz so far but I am currently chugging. I ran out and got so busy today.
Erin-what a day you had huh? Look at the brightside you definetly got your excercise in. I don't think I could drive a Uhual or Y'all haul . I have enough trouble with my husband' truck. I am not doing a meat and egg fast but after researching the whole Banta diet thing I've been chugging water and keeping my fat intake hight. It's done good so far. Otherwise I hope your day is going good food wise. I am up for being WATP buddies. I didn't get it in today but hopefully tomorrow .
Lisa-No problem that's what teamates are for! Hope you enjoyed a nice weekend off. Mine was pretty good. I took the kids to the park-something I can't remember when we did last. I guess you and I are the Southern Belles of the group .
kelley-where are you? I hope your doing okay.
Jenlars-hello! The videos or DVD I use are Walk Away The Pounds with Leslie Sansone. They are very easy and definetly a workout when you're out of shape like me . I bought mine off of ebay for about $15. You use it at home with no equipment and you can purchase her weighted balls she recommends if you want. I haven't used those yet. I think it's a fun, easy workout. Erin has her tapes too. They are real popular with people on this website. I'm glad things went well with your nephew, can never tell with the real small ones. I don't know what to tell you about the Tortilla soup-complicated. Chalk it up to another day and start good tomorrow. Don't worry about letting us down-you had one soup not a box of donuts you've been doing your part. Can't wait to see what your weight is tomorrow-I hope it's good! I will talk to you ladies tomorrow.
I forgot to tell you, I fell off the wagon today sort of. I had this need for ice cream so I bought Atkins Endulge. I did, only a 1/2 cup which according to them is only 3 carbs but I had enough in my 20 carb count to take the whole amount of their orig amt of carbs,14. I'm going to let my daughter eat the rest of that little container and be done with it.
I'll check in tomorrow.

"hummmm.....donuts....." (said in my best Homer Simpson voice)
That should be a four-letter word, Chelle!

Well, we finally got home yesterday around 4:30p after having started out at 8a.m. *sigh* I am STILL beat. The truck is sitting in our drive still loaded. I didn't have the energy to help unload the dumb thing by the time we got home. We packed the kids in the truck and went to Applebee's for dinner. I wanted steak and didn't want to cook it. So, had the House Sirloin and substituted veggies for the garlicky mashed potatoes and gave DH my garlic bread. Boy that steak tasted good. Came home got the kids to bed and went myself. I JUST woke up, something that is generally unheard of. Foodwise I did really well. Made my own protein shake so knew exactly what I was getting in it, for breakfast. Tuna/mayo for lunch....and then steak for dinner. Ummmm, good.

Chelle- Hope you enjoyed the park. I took my kids to the parks around here a lot this summer trying to get rid of their extra energy. And they all thought I was just being a fun mom!!! Alright, I'll keep you on track WATP wise....220

Jen- I agree with Chelle, chalk that soup up to a day that's passed and start fresh. Ya didn't REALLY kill your good intentions. All in all, based on what you could have have, you made a good choice with the best intentions. I understand what you mean about sometimes not getting all your carbs in.

Lisa- You are welcome. Just about fell out of my chair when I read the bit about your brain cells recognizing each other. 214!!! Man, pretty soon all 3 of you will be in onderland! WTG!

Kelley, whar r ya? Been missin' yer posts, gerl.

Good Morning Team!
I am pumped and ready to start a new day! Thank you sooo much for encouraging me. I felt so bad yesterday and the fact that you all aren't disappointed and are still cheering me on is awesome to me. As of today I've had 2 hard boiled eggs and some ranch dressing (the carb-friendly kind), I excercized on my recumberant bike for 47 min. I'm trying to work up to 50 min. per day. I'm taking the weekends off though. That's a bit too much for my taste I got on the scale this morning and I'm at 223.5 lbs! Yeah That's a pound and a half down. I didn't do so good in the water dept either. My DH and I celebrated our anniversary this weekend and went to two mexican restaurants plus the movies! That should count for at least 2 donut shops challenge Also, on Sat. I had a baby shower to go to. The only lowcarb thing there was a veggie platter. Good thing I brought my own snacks! I do make it a point to pack a snack bag if I'm going to be away from home for a prolonged amount of time.
I usually pack a couple of boiled eggs, some cheese, and a small cucumber and my carb friendly salad dressing. I take that with me everywhere.
Chelle-No worries about the ice cream. I went grocery shopping with my mom yesterday and she bought like 4 things of ice cream and asked me if I could have any of it and then she saw the atkins and I wanted it, but I usually don't have the carbs to spare. Plus, I'm afraid I won't stop at 1/2 a cup
Lisa-How ya doing chicky. Congrats! on the weight loss. I can't wait to weigh under 200. That's my mini goal.
Erin-I plan on buying the wtpa videos also. Do you suggest I buy the set or start with the mile 1 video. Where'd you buy yours?
Kelley-Miss you

Cardio is done for the day; I walked on a local walking trail instead of hitting the treadmill at the gym. I'd *much* rather walk outside! Today is Day 1 of lifting. That'll be this afternoon.

Food's good. Yesterday, I broke the meat fast for lunch; for some reason, when I've been on the fast for a few days, my teeth start hurting. So I had a salad for lunch. By dinner, the teeth felt fine and still do today. Dunno why that is! I'm down another 1/2 pound this morning.

Oh, Kelley... hope you had a good, strong weekend. And I hope you check in soon!

Jen, sometimes it's a real struggle to plug things into FitDay. And I've also discovered that sometimes FitDay gives goofy results. In those cases, you have to trust your own instincts to know whether what you ate was on plan or not. If it turns out it wasn't, the only thing you can do at that point is accept it and go on--and make a note to yourself not to eat the soup again if you think it knocked you out of ketosis. Unfortunately, it's pretty easy to not know exactly what you're getting in a restaurant; I still remember, when I'd only been on Atkins for a couple of months, going into a restaurant and ordering cole slaw. The waiter assured me there was no sugar in it. HA! It made me sick as a dog! It happens. I found out later that it's really a mistake to order cole slaw in a restaurant, because they usually do put a fair amount of sugar in it.

Erin, that steak sounds good! Personally, I'm in a tuna rut. I bought a total of 6 cans and have had a can a day... I am now officially ready to NOT EAT TUNA for a while!

Chelle, the Banta thing surely is intriguing, isn't it? I just wish they were a little more open with their information. I alternate keeping my fat up, and it does seem to help.

I swear it's gettin' hard to find this post!

Alright gang, got the Y'all haul (thanks for that, Lisa!) unloaded. Numerous trips up that huge ramp, down the ramp, in the house, not to mention with various weights attached.

I told my husband either we move to an old home which would have room for all of these antiques, or we're going to wind up remodeling our ranch. He doesn't want to move as it's hard to find the kind of land we have here, so looks like we're in for a remodel in the coming years. Not only did he inherit some great antiques from his grandmother and aunt, but the house was already filled with all of the antiques I inherited from my parents.

Had my protein shake for breakfast....did salmon, 2 hard boiled eggs w/2 tblspns mayo and a few pork rinds for lunch....couldn't finish it. Just the thought of food is making me ill. Nothing for dinner. I've finished the "donut" challenges with the baking of the two birthday cakes. There is still a REALLY moist chocolate cake w/chocolate frosting up there....prolly 3 pieces left, and I've managed to stay out of it.

Lisa- I've been in a tuna and salmon rut for the last week. Personally, if I never see another can of tuna it will be too soon. Not to mention I caught a post in the lobby yesterday about how many cans of tuna a person should be eating due to mercury levels, and I think I'm done for the year.

Jen- WTG on the lb and a half down! You're doing great! See, that soup didn't harm ya a bit! I think I ordered my WATP DVD's through Amazon. They had all of them available together so I bought 'em! Left the mile one out and my lil' dog tried to eat it, so had to throw that one away, but that leaves me with the 2 and 3 mile one. I'll be doing the 2 mile tomorrow.

Chelle- So tell us what you've learned about the Banta thing? I was looking into that but didn't really learn anything about it.

Kelley- Still no....come back hun....hope you're well.

Hey everyone,
I'm doing great today. I only got up to 11 carbs so far. For lunch I had eggsalad, some pork rinds, and 12 macadamia nuts (I must have misread the induction thingie. I thought after two weeks we could have nuts, but it looks like you only get them when you go to OWL. Such a pity....I enjoyed them greatly. I cooked a roast in the crockpot. It is soooo good. Very tender and juicy
Erin-I'll have to check out Amazon.com. I think I looked there not too long ago so I should find it fairly easily. So you think I should get all three? I'm not much for tuna and I cannot stand seafood. I am pretty picky about my meat also. I used to dislike steak, but now I'm pretty fond of it
Lisa-You know I have noticed that some of the things I put in there are a little off. I've been breaking down things ingredient by ingredient and it seems to come up better. How long does it take to find out if a certain food stalled you? Good job on the excercizing...I'm hoping to bump up mine some more. Unfortunately the pilates has me very nervous. I don't want to do it again. Way to hard. But, I want some conditioning/toning excercize I can do around the house. I don't have the money to join a gym. Any ideas on how to get my muscles working w/o going to the gym?
Kelley-Miss ya girl!
Chelle-Yes, please share your banta secrets

Erin, I know how you feel... DH's parents moved into a retirement home this past summer. DH wanted to bring home a momento or two. That's what he said. Imagine my surprise when that included a pump organ! YIKES! It's beautiful, and it's been in his family for many many years, but it's also *huge*.

Jen, I know you probably don't want to hear this, but everyone's body is different when it comes to stalling. I doubt the soup stalled you. I can tell you this, at least for *me*; after I was on strict induction levels for a couple of months, it didn't take much to make me feel sick--and that's when I knew I'd eaten something that had sugar/flour in it (and wasn't supposed to). But even then, it didn't necessary stall me; I just had to get into ketosis again. Luckily, that only happened a couple of times.

Now... I know nuts effect me; I'm better off avoiding them. And I LOVE them. Especially macadamias!

Hello again ladies. Sorry my posting is a little erratic lately. I've been so busy but for the next 24 hours or a little more it should be calm .
Erin-Hello girl! My what a workout you have had. I did the WATP 2 mile today again. It seemed harder than the first time. I think because I am still sore. I am loving it though. It's so easy to pop in and hurry up and do. I want to do more in the excercise way but for now I think I will just stick to this and build up some stamina before I do something harder. I love Applebee's ! That's exactly what I would order too. The park was wonderful there was a baby swing with holes on both sides so I put both the twins in and they loooved it. Awww, come on sure you're a cool mom . Too funny. Sounds like you are doing awesome food wise so any loss? jeans any baggier?(is that even a word-baggier ) About WATP I try to do mine in the morning before breakfast now. When do you plan to do yours? We'll keep in touch.
Jen-First of all how could I make you feel bad when you tried to eat something carb consious? I ate ice cream for crying out loud . But we are here to motivate you. Speaking of this it just reminded me of what happend the last I did Atkins. I had lost 15lbs and the pants were baggy. I was doing good. But I went to Disney World and had a meal which was a meat and they all came with carrots and mashed potatoes So I was so hungry from walking all day and the food is so expensive I ate the carrots and gave away the mp. Then I fell off the bandwagon because I felt mad at myself for messing up one time-I thought that was it. Now I know the dust yourself off and try again theory ! CONGRATS on your weight loss -I am very happy for you-one pound at a time! That's what I need to do is carry a snack pack and have it already made in the fridge because lately I am running. The thing is I'd rather starve than eat something that's not carb wise. That's probably just as bad considering the drop in my blood sugar. I think you can get WATP in a set for about $15.00 from ebay. They usually have a buy now option on some of those. I will PM you the link to the Banta Challenge ladies. Basically there is a list of "free" foods and then a second list. The second list you can only eat in certain combinations to achieve the correct fat percentage. I am not actually following it but I am keeping my fat intake high. I don't have the nerve to do pilates yet. I have a beginner from Winsor Pilates Maybe next week .
Lisa-CONGRATS on your weigh in. You are doing well. All that excercise you must be feeling really good. I was curious if your dd followed any of the low carb diet and is she picking up from you good habits or did she already excercise, etc? My dd only 8 but I hope she too will follow my good example. I know what you mean about walking outside. Right now the weather here is so nice for that. But in a few months it will be too hot to even go outiside . I agree with you about the Banta secrets but the girls doing the Banta Challenge have bought the book and are sharing tidbits. The language is a little difficult too. I think this is from Europe and obviously they call things a different name than us. It's been insightful to watch. Well, whatever you are doing it's working! I haven't made any tuna yet, I will have to do that. Thanks for the idea. Right now my favorite is chicken bacon ranch salads-yuuuuuummy! Well my water intak is but I am guzzling right now. I will check in tomorrow!

Shovel snow, plough snow, shovel snow, plough snow. Hmmmm.....I think someone is conspiring against me. We got hit (surprise, surprise) last night with a load of snow and that's what I've been doing all morning, barring the 1/2 hour or so it took me to run a kid into the doc. I have to say I'm not as good a plougher (is that a word?) as DH is. When he does it it's all nice and neat and when I do it, I've got snow all over the place! Not to mention, when I didn't warm the quad up enough and I'm hangin' out in the middle of the road waitin' for the thing to start up again!

Haven't had breakfast yet today....hmmmmm.....and not hungry. Chelle, pants are WAY loose! Haven't jumped on the scale since last time. This time I'm tryin' to wait until the 14th to do that.

Will check in a tad later with everyone....

Ciao!

Wow! Sounds like we're all doing pretty good.
Lisa- Thanks for the advice. I lost another 2 lbs this morning. I am promising to only way on Mondays from now on. Unless I need to submit result for the challenge. I'm becoming obsessed with the scale so I'm backing off and only weighing once a week. Mainly, I get discouraged if I gain...not so much if I remain the same...but you all know what I mean right? I'm going to stay away from nuts for now. Maybe J/K Any ideas on conditioning/strength training at home?
Erin-Girl, I would love the snow, but I would want just enough to make my kids happy. I do not envy you , but what a workout it's been. I'll pray for the snow to let up on you.
Chelle-Hey girl, I'm excited about your loose pants. I have so much spandex/stretchie clothes that it's a little hard to see if they're getting looser. Oh, well ...I'll have to buy something that doesn't quite fit. Also, thanks for the tips on getting the WATP video set. I'll look on ebay.
Menu today: 3 egg omelet w/ mozzerella cheese and canned mushrooms.
l-pot roast from last night. Yum!
dinner-Chicken something and a nice salad.
Not too hungry for snacks anymore. Geeze, am I glad. I was getting tired of going to the fridge every couple of hours

I'm back...sorry to have dissappeared. The weekend was great - very motivating. I have been getting a lot done around the house, hubby too and out internet/mail was down while he moved his office around. I need to go through and catch up with everyone and what's going on.

Good news, been hitting to bike - not up to an hour yet...but at 1/2 hour. I am looking at joining a gym and getting a personal trainer. I talked with the medical reimbursement fund people and they said you can get it reimbursed IF your doctor will write a note/rx with the reason and impact exercise, etc will have for you. AND even better news is that a rx from the doctor will cover my monthly pedicures for medical reimbursement as well, because of the diabetes. I added up all my numbers and am doing good with carbs and exercise, need to increase water!

OK, I'll catch up reading and be back later.

I was curious if your dd followed any of the low carb diet and is she picking up from you good habits or did she already excercise, etc?
<chuckling> Well... hmmm. DD's 15. She's also extremely fit, and has been that way, with an organized exercise regimen designed by a sports-specific trainer, for about the last four years. In fact, it was her trainer who got me started on exercise. He also got her eating right.

She knows how to low carb, but doesn't need it--and I hope she never does. She sometimes does get carried away with sweets, but possesses the ability and discipline to cut them out when necessary. (NOT an inherited trait, I promise you; it took me many years to learn this!)

She's a serious athlete, and part of a national championship fastpitch softball team; she's a pitcher. She knows that the cost is high if she doesn't stay in shape, especially with college coaches starting to look at her. If anything, the stakes are highest for her, in our family, but she's able to figure out most of this on her own. I'm *very* glad for her!

Erin, snow? Whazzat? Oh, yeah... like that couple inches of white stuff that fell here right around Christmas and melted. Did I mention that the current temperature is 69 degrees, and it's 8:45 pm? <ducking> Maybe the snow would melt if you'd start playing Jimmy Buffet songs. (C'mon, Florida... you can taunt *me* now.) Actually, DH, who is Arkansas born and bred, will be flying into Lansing in a few weeks. I'm sure he's gonna be in for the shock of his life. I grew in Chicagoland, so the shock factor isn't quite as bad.

Jen, mind you, I haven't used them, but I understand the resistence bands are good; so are Pilates, as well as those big ball things that are so popular. (Brainfart, can't recall the name.) All of those will work on strength training. The WATP tapes also include some weight work, I think--but I've never done the WATP.

Kelley, good to see you back! It's good to hear your ins. will cover a personal trainer; the *right* PT is so valuable, and can do wonders for you.

It was a good day. I did 10 miles on the recumbent this morning. Food's good. NO TUNA!

Hi ladies. How was everyone's day. Mine was ok. I ate good, water intake not good. I am getting ready to down another. I did WATP 2 mile again. Today it felt slightly more easier . Another unexpected day of running, my husband drove his tank truck into some sand and got stuck all night. So needless to say he didn't make it home last night and he called me to bring him some clothes. The things we do for those men of ours .
I forgot to tell you ladies that I watched SSM without my daughter thankfully. It would have been a little much for her. It was pretty interesting. Especially about the part where he started craving it and felt better when he ate it. YUCK!
Well I'll sign off for now. You ladies have a good night

Ugh. I'm officially constipated. (Wondering if there are constipation officials somewhere so I can get that in writing?) Anyhow, things haven't moved in 3 days. On top of that, I have muscles in my body that are screaming and I didn't even know they could whisper before! So, just for giggles I hopped on the scale this morning and am up 3 lbs. from my last weigh in. So am now 346.8. I'm guessing what with the constipation and the sore muscles this is a "false" reading, as my body has got to be holdin' on to water due to the muscle soreness, on top of the whole constipation issue. I'm not overdoing on cheese or carbs. Is flax meal and ground flax seeds the same thing? The only thing that scares me on those is that one tablespoon of flax seed has NINE carbs!!!! 'Course, there is fiber in that, but when you're not netting your carbs that kind of carb count scares the dickens out of ya!

Chelle- Congrats on your WATP and it going easier for you as well. What did you think about the SSM video?

Lisa- Snow, hmmmm......that's supposed to become an obsolete noun here in the next few days. After all of my shoveling and ploughing they are now forecasting loads of rain to wash all my efforts away. 69 degrees and 8:45p.m.? You'd best duck girl!

Kelley- Great job on the cycling! Good news about the rX for everything else too. Imagine, pretty feet and paid for by insurance!

Jen- If you've been praying for letup snow-wise, the good Lord has heard ya! We'll be getting enough rain to get rid of the pile up of snow out there, and believe me.....the pile up is enormous!

Erin, yes, flax meal and ground flax are pretty much the same thing. If I remember correctly, the golden flax is a bit pricier as far as carbs go.

I know the carb count is a little frightening, but consider this: if you take anything at all to relieve the symptoms, chances are it will have fiber in it, and probably quite a bit. The only other solution is to drink lots of water and hope that works.

Reminder1`

This is a reminder: I will need your measurements/points *by Friday* so I can turn them in. If you want to simply send me your spreadsheet via email, send them to: lisa@villagefair.com .

Remember that this is a challenge, so challenge yourself every single day to do something above and beyond what you've done before. Park further out in the parking lot at work and add a few steps to your daily journey. Climb the stairs instead of taking the elevator. Push yourself for an extra five minutes in your cardio workout; or at the very least, one more minute. Try to go further than you have, before.

Make yourself accountable to yourself, first; but also to those around you.

Believe 100% that you are capable of achieving your dreams. Not just your weight loss dreams, either; picture what you want to be doing in one month, 6 months, 2 years, and start making plans now for your success.

Thanks Lisa!

Alrighty then....made Spongebob's Flaxmeal Bread or whatever it is called. It is actually quite tasty, albeit somewhat dry. I can live with the dry. No problemo! I had two small slices for breakfast with 1 TBS. of cream cheese and a bunch of water. I haven't been hungry the last few days and still have that metallic taste in my mouth so I don't think I'm out of ketosis. I try not to rely on the sticks as they can be inaccurate at times. So, hopefully things will start the downward trend again here in the next few days. (no pun intended)
