05' Biggest Loser Challenge. Team 6

Hi Everyone,

I am really excited to get this challenge rolling. I thought we could pump ourselves up with a name for our group. My suggestion is" Deep 6 the Pounds." Maybe everyone could come up with a suggestion and we could vote on it. Hope everyone has a great beginning on Monday.

Hi Dorothy, I was looking for a Team 6 post and there it was! Thanks for getting the post going. Kelley just slipped in a post! This is great!

I read the link so far. I am renting Super Size Me today, I hear it is a good reality check.

I obviously have the exercise part down, just need to get the food in check. I am thrilled to be part of this challenge - we can do this!!

I hope the rest of our team checks in today. I am doing two days of protein just to get me started. I am doing LFL as I found that too much fat doesn't work for me. Also upping my carbs works also. So I wil be doing between 30- to 50 carbs a day. I downloaded the Supersize Calendar offered by two much to lose. I think this will also be an boost to staying on plan. Since I am a big Coffee drinker so my goal for this week will be to keep it down to two cups.Do any you have any short term goal? Oh, just a short Bio. I live in Maine, middle part of state. Married of 38 years to a very skinny man. My Mom of 96 also lives with me. My biggest problem is that all of us need to eat so differently. I stay at home now and worked in Head=start for the last 8 years. I really enjoyed being home. It has given me a chance to just work on me. Hope to get to know all of you better.

Hi everyone

I just got a post from Kelly G and if you all don't mind she and I are going to switch teams. I was originally on team 11 however Dorothy and I had asked to be together. Dorothy and I met this past sumemr when she came through Vancouver on her way to Alaska. We thought we would be a good support for each other so I hope you don't mind losing Kelly G.

Here is a bit about myself.

I am 56. Retired for the past 9 years, married and a mother to 3 children. 2 girls ages 24 and 25 and a son 16. No grandchildren yet as none of them are married however we are hoping to have a wedding in the next year.

Originally I had lost 25 pounds on Atkins but have gained a few pounds back since last summer.
I am 5ft 4in and was 229 pounds on the 2nd. I'm happy to say as of this morning 2 pounds are already gone. I am on induction and sticking to 20 grams per day for the month. My exercise is a 1 hour walk every day and 2 exercises classes a week. Starting in February I will be paddling 2 days a week on a dragon boat team. go to www.grandgragons.org if you want to see what a dragon boat is. My goal this year is to get to 125 by Dec 31 and am using Fit day to track my input and output.

I am seriously committed to this challenge and knowing that I don't want to let the rest of you down is keeping me clean.

take care

Rae

H Everyone,

I am glad to see our team is finally coming together. Only Shirl 1 M.I.A. How do we want to to the Captain thing. WE could have one person or we could share and each person take a turn. I don't mind doing it some but when I can I take as many trips as I can. ( Part of the problem for gaining back some of this weight.)

I agree with Rae, that I am seriously committed to this challenge. I think part of the reason I will do well is I don't want to let anyone down. I weight at Curves today and my scale was off. Instead of weighing 220 it was 224 and my measurement were also 40# waist and 48# . I emailed the new measurements to Sweets. I have gained about 20# back of the weight I have lost. I am not changing my siggy weight as everytime I see it I just get mad at myself. You will know when I am finally that weight. I did an all protein day, drank my water and have done half of my exercise.

What about a team name? Do you guys have any ideas ? then we can vote.

Hi everyone

I think Deep 6 sounds like a good name. Are we going to do a daily thread to keep the thread from getting too long? Maybe we could each do a month of starting the thread each day. I'm not sure what being a team captain involves.

Tonight I was taken out for dinner and a movie by a friend and she gave me chocolates for a gift. I told her I would be saving them as I wasn't eating sweets right now and she said neve mind she had a nice box of gift teas that she would give to me instead. I have stayed on induction for the second day and took a 1 hour brisked walk this afternoon. we went to see The Aviator and really enjoyed it. Should be on the list for a lot of academy awards.

Well off to bed

Rae

HI Everyone,

Rae, Congrats on passing on the Choc. I know how hard that is.Okay I guess we should go with Deep Six the #. I don't what a Being a Captain involves either. I guess we should E-Mail Sweets and take it from there. I have been really sticking to plan , exercising and Drink my water. Fla Gal hope everything is going good with you.Lynne O I haven't seen the movie yet, so it makes you want to eat right. Hope you are having a good day.

Hi Dorothy

The name is good with me. Twice a week threads would be fine since there are only 4 of us I think. I'm down another 2 pounds this morning to 225. I know this is only water but the induction is working well. I think I am over my cravings but I know today will be the hardest day to get through. I'm going to try to experiment with some recipes as i tend to stick to really basic foods and then get bored really easily.

have a great day

Rae

Ok what's happened to our team. Please tell me it's not because
I switched with Kelly G. I have had a good day but all the water is keeping me close to the bathroom. I did go to an exercise class tonight and am just waiting for my daugher to finish tutoring my son in math and then I'm heading home to relax. It's 8pm on the west coast so am assuming that you are all tucked into bed by now. I hope you've all had a good day and are ready to keep up the fight tomorrow.

take care

LOL, I am here! I am committed, I am just off normal schedule being out from school for winter break. We go back next week and I will be "regular" again. I do love my routine!

I ate something stupid last night. I am doing everything else right, so I'm back on track as of today.

Deep 6 is fine and so is doing two threads a week. I hate when I have to shuffle through 6 pages - I obviously have a regular internet line!

I am working at my dad's office this week but told him I need to have atleast 3 or 4 days off before I go back to school (I teach middle school Social Studies) and I definately need to regroup!!!

I will check back in this evening. Oh and as far as Captains go, I think if no one minds, why don't we assign a month for each group person.

Have a beautiful day!

Lynne

Hi everyone

I've been awake since 5:30 this morning so have got an early start on my water.

I noticed that Shirl 1 is on our team but haven't seen her posting yet. I'll send her a pm and see what's happening.

I woke up 1 pound lighter, so I have come down 5 pounds on 3 days of induction. Will start counting it as weight loss after about 10 pounds. I went to the gym last night and did a 40 minute fat burner class.

It is freezing here -5C should be getting our first snowfall by tomorrow. Luckily it only lasts a few days at the most but makes a huge mess of traffic in the meantime.

Have a great day

Rae

Hi Rae and Lynne O,

I think I will post our Name as Deep 6 the # on the Social Forum today. Rae great weight loss. Lynn, nice to know something about you. What grade to you teach? I am doing well. I think this is the answer for me. I keep saying to myself I don't want to disapoint the group. Check -in with you guys later. Oh, I will also report in that we will have a different Captain every month. I don't mind taking it this month. I know from doing Challenges it gets old. So I think that when you are reponible for the Captain you should put the New thread up also. If this is okay then Thur. I will put up a new team 6 thread. Let me know.

Start Date: nov. 2000

wanted to check in with you today since i was feeling alittle better with my back. Had the outpatient surgery the other day on it, they went in and clipped some nerves that was making my low back and legs hurt so bad. They had to put me asleep to do it and I had had to stay there most the day afterwards in recovery and then rest when i got home ad not do anything. But I am up and stirring around today and thought I would peep in to check on all of you.

I have been sticking to my low carb plan well, better than I was over the holidays. My hubby cooked me a a nice low carb breakfast this morning to.

I am determinined to lose the rest of my weight this year and also achieve my goal for the month of january to lose 10-15 lbs.
I also vow to make sure i drink all my water i need to daily and to get some exercise in no matter how light it may be. As you know with my bad back my exercise is limited right now.

I watch the Low Carb and Loving it on the food channel and have been getting some great ideas for meals from him. do any of you watch it? yesterday he had a recipe for some chili turkey burgers that i want to make one day. I just go on line and print up his recipes and add them to my recipe book that i have made up. I have over 200 low carb recipes in it now and have tried most of them to.

I have also added in a little hint that has been helping me stick to my low carb, and I want to share it with you all. when I put my food on the table I make it pretty and add garnishes to it and I always have a nice pretty center piece on the table and it looks like i am dining in a fine resturant. This just makes dining so much nicer and I fine myslef eating slower and really enjoying what i am eating, and my hubby sit and talk while dining and it is just so pleasant and relaxing.
Do any of you do this, if not try it sometimes.

Our city is gearing up to host the super bowl next month so be looking for us here with all our beautiful tourist sights and bridges over our rivers here. We are such a beautiful city and i am proud the whole world will be seeing us on t.v.
i am a foot ball fan and love our Jaguars but they have been in a slump for a few years now but I know they will come again out on top like they were. Maybe your favorite will play?

see you all later and thanks for being here for me because I need all the support I can get.
If any of you ever come up with some hints that we all can benefit from please post them for us.

HAVE A GREAT LOW CARB DAY

Hi everyone

Glad to hear your recovering Mary. Thanks for the hints. Last night I served dinner in the dining room with candles and I think I will do it more often. I really makes a difference in the way you eat. I changed our large 10 inch dinner plates for small salad plates and find everyone eats smaller portions now.

I am heading away for a 4 day mini vacation with my husband to a resort on Vancouver Island. It was a Christmas gift from my children so will be back on Sunday night.

I've been doing ok with inductions and have lost 5 pounds but know it's just water. The real test will be from now on.

take care and have a great weekend. See you Sunday night.
