Not always. YOu could also just suffer from intolerance which can't be detected with any tests necessarily. Confusing, huh?

Very. Maybe it's just mild, but enough to cause issues. Off to do more reading!

Which test? Did you actually have a sample of intestine taken to examine the villi? As far as I know that is the most accurate way to make or disprove the Celiac Diagnosis.

Blood tests are notoriously inaccurate.

Were you eating a lot of gluten before the test was done? From my understanding, that's the only way to get an accurate diagnosis. My DD was not willing to suffer through the pain of eating gluten for the test to tell her if she had celiac. She already knows that she is at the very least intolerant.

I had the blood tests and biopsy come back negative, but was told that the biopsy is t the "gold standard" it's made out to be, cause they may biopsy this area, but the damage is a little further down. So I was told that with my vitamin deficiencies and family history of autoimmune I was 99% positive on celiac, even tho tests didn't show it.

My test showed negative too, which is weird. My mom, sister and brother all tested positive. I don't eat gluten anyway, as it makes me either throw up, or feel like throwing up. Not worth it.

Had you been eating it before the test? You have to have been eating gluten regularly for a number of weeks (6?) in order to get a positive.

Even at that, many people with clear problems still test negative.

I took the test several years ago. I did eat low carb wheat (which is heavy in gluten!) every day for two weeks before the test. At the time I did the test, I mostly just felt mild nausea, and inflamation in my joints. Now if I eat it I feel violently ill. I don't want to go through the eating gluten for two weeks again to retake the test. So I live without a proper diagnosis.

According to my doctor, there is no test for intolerance. I don't have Celiac, but wheat tears up my stomach.

My son doesn't test positive either. But then again he has an IgA deficiency so the ones they did may not show positive anyway (due to the deficiency). But when he was on wheat as a baby he just wasn't growing until we eliminated wheat. I know people in my family go yea yea but they weren't there so whatever.

I also know that I have inflammation, swelling, increased reflux and arthritis symptoms when I do eat it .. so I just don't anymore.

I don't really care what the doctor says anyway no one "needs" wheat (rolls eyes).

The only thing that irks me is that I sometimes get the "oh your on the current fad bandwagon" (even though he's been GF for over 13 years way before the "fad"). argh.
