Miley Cyrus "tweets" gluten free diet

Houston's Channel 2 news had a segment this morning.
The doctor said that "eating gluten free can cause health problems unless you've been diagnosed with celiac".
Huh? Does that make any sense at all?
I'll try to find the video when they put it up, the news site is: click2houston.com .

Here's one article, but I don't think the doctor they're quoting is the same one that was in the video spot:

Didn't watch the news but did read the article. He's not saying that being gluten-free, per se, causes health problems but that if you eat gluten-free crap, you can have issues.

Dr. Katz is specifically talking about GF as a weight-loss diet and that, like all restrictive diets, you can restrict one thing and both not lose weight and have health issues. gluten-free crap is still crap.

No doubt eating gluten free frankenfoods will make a person have crappy health because crap is crap gluten free or not. s/n I get so annoyed with people's ignorance about celiac and gluten free. I actually lost my babysitter recently because her mom thought she will catch celiac from being in our house and eating our gluten free foods because it will make her more sensitive to gluten *sigh*

The TV spot did say that eating gluten free without a medical cause to, can cause "health problems". I thought that was kind of odd, and I know they were pushing the "don't eat GF for weight loss" angle.

Always take a large salt lick in hand when listening to these things, especially on TV. They want ratings and they are often NOT accurate to what the subject or science. Some even edit the experts to where they are appearing to say what they think you say.

Read and research for science info. Don't rely on news or media to give you the data you need.
