I take natural thyroid...porcine. If you can't get Armour (brand) or Westhroid (brand) or Naturethroid (brand), you could have doctor write Rx. as: _____ mg. Thyroid compounded and find a compounding pharmacy do it for you. (Natural thyroid has all the thyroid hormones the human thyroid makes: T1, T2, T3, T4 and calcitonin for good bone health...not JUST T4 like Synthroid). I have Celiac disease and inform my compounder of that when ordering from compounding pharm, otherwise, I tolerate Armour, Westhroid, or Naturethroid.

Thank you for your help. Yes with them diagnosing me with rheumatoid arthritis I found it odd to give me synthroid. It states may thin bones. Which is what I don't want. I am waiting for a call back still to discuss so we will see. As for synthroid I took the first day and the next I had a migraine and cramping that made me worst off. So I don't think that synthroid is safe. Maybe not gluten free or maybe contains milk protein I am not sure but I do not want to take that again. I did not eat anything new nor take anything in new so I know it is synthroid. I will check with these options and go from there. thank you again it seems to me you have everything I am dealing with that helps me out! thanks

NO, it doesn't thin bones unless you take an amount to make you go hyPER. AND...the body doesn't JUST make T4, it converts it to T3 (that's where the energy, weightloss comes from). The problem is when the doc gives so MUCH T4 and the body can't convert..and the doc won't give T3 WITH the T4.

There IS natural thyroid available (Armour, Naturethroid, Westhroid) but some have to have it compounded (call a compound pharmacy) cuz of the unavailability of Armour right now. It also contains calcitonin for good bone health so you don't have to worry about bones, it is gluten free.

There is no hormone listings? Can't find Armour, Westhroid, Naturethroid?? Thyroid is a hormone, not a 'medication'. Maybe it's just me trying to hurry to find it, If you have a list of hormones GF I'd love to have it, thank you for the meds list.

Armour is on the list and GF. I don't have any information on the others you listed.

Armour has been 'reformulated' in the last four months...and many are saying (including MY immunologist) that it's no longer GF...just a heads up. Thanks Laura.

ok so it has been hard to have them change my synthroid. I called last week to ask for another medication and she told me to stop the medication that my TSh was normal after all. Can you believe that the same labs she read that stated I was hypothyroid was normal now.The doctor was to call me herself and that was thursday and no phone call. I tried calling friday morning, and still haven't started meds and no phone call bavck. Friday afternoon, no phone call. I had not started my meds yet. I was miserable all weekend then monday I stormed in there and they said they didn't know who I spoke to that I was supposed to have started synthroid last Thursday??? I was mad the only thing I did was call to ask them to change synthroid to one of the meds. you so kindly suggested. After I told them that they say oh that won't work for you because you need name brand and that is synthroid. The doctor claims to have called synthroid and they said it was gluten free. I will call myself today though, after all that. Anyways I want to start synthroid today meanwhile who are those doctors you said were by Evansville IN?? I think I might need a new one. I am not sure of this one any more. Thank you all for you help. And sorry I am slow on responding I have four young children so I get on the internet every other day if I am lucky.

ahhhh
