Allergy/Gluten Intolerance question
Well I have MANY food allergies and I don't know whether I am gluten intolerant but I have removed gluten from my diet for a little while now - almost 2 months. Well yesterday I decided I would just try having something with gluten in it. At around 1:00 or so I had a flour tortilla wrapped with chicken and none of the other things I was allergic to. I felt stuffed but nothing SUPER bad...I got home for dinner and didn't plan this but my husband went out and bought subs for dinner - mine was a WW one with grilled chicken and again, none of my allergy foods. I felt MUCH WORSE a few hours after eating this - yes, a bit bloated but more of an allergy type reaction - headache, itchy eyes, sneezing so I'm wondering if this is a reaction to the gluten? Because according to my allergy tests I don't have a wheat allergy. So I'm confused! I haven't felt this horrible after eating in a long time - so I'm not sure what I was reacting to! I feel great today though!

Once the body has been 'off of' wheat/gluten the allergic patient will react to it's reintroduction. If you have many allergies, then the more you eat something, the more you will start to react. And if you take away flour/wheat and then put it back, you're 'shocking' your body...(You'll see over and over the same reaction you're having to putting back wheat from lowcarbers!) Regardless of if they are 'allergic' to wheat or not.
I have actual autoimmune Celiac and had a GREAT improvement in my quality of life when I started lowcarbing...it was like night and day. And I have the allergic reaction in my breathing (anaphylactic asthma) when I'm allergic to something, as well as bloody stool, cramping, etc to wheat/gluten. It's so hard to tell right now cuz if one is allergic to grass/weeds, etc. than that could be it, too. Are you on inhalant steroid, and nasal steroid so you can rule out grasses/weeds and concentrate on your food allergies? Pam

Ok that does make sense - well I am not taking anything at the moment for the environmental allergies and I know it's brutal right now with all the pollen but I sneeze with that and this was different - I know it wasn't from the pollen because it lasted a couple hours lastnight and was gone by today and while I'll still have the odd sneeze but this was almost like I was hit badly with it immediately!
