Your thoughts on candida?

I'll be back when I have more information from which to ask the right questions ...

I am not in the thyroid chorus, I'm in the calories count camp, and I think that is your problem (judging from your other thread). Being shorter means that you have to eat fewer calories to lose, and you are very close to goal so that means that almost 1700 calories is too much for weight loss.

I did lots of research on candida years ago and firmly believed that it was my problem- did the spit test and everything and of course the symptoms are so ambiguous and commonplace that every other person will have them. Then I did an actual blood test and turned out I didn't have it.

I think candida is something that is blamed a lot, like thyroid, and that isn't really the problem in most people's cases. You would have to be taking continuous heavy duty antibiotics for years and have a weakened immune system to have candida issues, and even then weight gain/problems losing would not be the most likely symptom.

I had candida issues and since going low carb...they have gone away.

Candida was NOT going away until I quit drinking diet pop. I am not sure if you drink that...but it was a hard one for me to ditch.

Other than that...I have no real answers.

It's interesting to see that many people who drink sodas regularly are somewhat addicted to them...I wonder what manufacturers put in them (that's not listed in the ingredients perhaps?)

If you are close to your goal weight, you have to watch your calories. My maximum is 1300 a day...it's not much, but Ican do it by eating more vegetables...Tonight, though, I indulged quite a bit  HWC with Walden farms syrups and low-carb soy flakes, and low-carb chocolate...Uff, I feel stuffed and happy.

Hello, nolcjunk.

I really hate to disagree with anyone on the forum, but I have to say that there are ways, other than antibiotics, that one can contract Candida. My immune system was so strong that I never had colds or became sick, and I hadn't been on an antibiotic for over ten years, still haven't in fact, yet I have Candida. As soon as it was diagnosed, I knew exactly how I contracted it. I was trying to lose a few pounds, and listened to a friend who had gone on an all fruit diet with success. The diet was all fruit with the exception of an egg or small piece of meat for protein once a day, and only a minimum amount of green vegetables. After about two weeks on this very high sugar diet (which I took full advantage of), I started having terrible symptoms of Candida. That was seven months ago, and just within the last week or two have I begun to see some improvements in my symptoms. This is after months of sticking tightly to the phase 1 Candida diet and taking various, natural, antifungal remedies.

Thanks, Sky
