Is there a high blood sugar/candida connection?

My mom is having high blood sugar problems, and is very tired, etc. Her doc is saying diabetes and has prescribed insulin, but for some reason that isn't sitting quite right with me. So I was wondering...

Anyone know?

Hi Kim

I have read that there is a high connection between people with candida yeast problems, both local and systemic, and blood sugar imbalances. My mom is diabetic too and so is my dad and I also suspect my mom has candida issues, although she is not very open-minded about addressing them.

She had local yeast infections for years and now she has a lot of the systemic symptoms too.

I'm not a doctor, though, and so maybe it would be good to discuss this with a specialist. I am with you, though---I think her blood sugar issues probably play a big role in this.

Sorry I can't be more help. I'm new here and this is my first post.

I don't know, but I was pre-diabetic before doing the Anti-Candida diet. My doctor advised me I needed to change my diet so I didn't become insulin dependent, but once you are I don't know if diet will reverse the damage done or not. If she is bad enough to need insulin I tend to think she should follow her doctors advice because that's a dangerous situation. However there is nothing that says that she can't get a second doctor's opinion on whether she can control it with diet. I wouldn't advise telling her to do diet changes without the supervision of a doctor as diabetes can be life-threatening. Also, your mother has to want to make the changes herself.

Thanks, ladies.

I haven't interfered at all - was just trying to explore some ideas in case it came in handy later. She seems to be doing well, and is working with a dietitian. She seems happy with the results so far.
