Candida Diet
Well, still hanging in there on my candida diet. It's been two weeks now and I'm feeling somewhat better. I've lost 17 lbs total. Not even really dieting as in cutting portions. My intense over whelming cravings for food are just outright gone. I pretty much couldn't care less if I eat or not. (bizarre for me)
My doctor is starting me on diflucan, alternating days with oil of oregano and two different probiotics. One that needs to be refrigerated and one that doesn't. I can't spell them lol. It seems like this is really working and I'm shocked

Hi! Well, basically meat, fresh veggies, tomatoes/potatoes once a week or so. Brown rice, sweet potatoes, some squash, popcorn maybe once a week, butter..... that pretty much sums it up right now ![]() I'm trying new things once a week or so. Have a recipe for lentil soup that I'm gonna try next week, I've never eaten lentils before so I'm sure it will be interesting. Everything is totally fresh and from scratch though. Avoiding sugars, wheat, citric acid, yeast in any form, most diary except butter and real sugery fruits. I can't believe how good I feel and it just keeps getting better I'm a bit afraid to start the diflucan though. I've never taken it before. Just do a search on Candida Diets if you need more info. There's tons out there. (tends to be conflicting though that's why I was looking for real life advice here) ![]() |

Marlee,
Sounds like you're doing great! Here's what's been going on with me: I've been at this now for almost 8 weeks now. Prior to that I was doing 3 weeks of meats, veggies, eggs, nuts, seeds, fruits, kefir, and honey. I think I jumped in really quickly and it wasn't the right start for me. I was craving the kefir and honey too much. So I started again without the dairy, honey, and fruit (almost 8 weeks going now). This seemed to work better for my hunger/cravings, but I found that I wasn't ready for nuts and coconut. I was eating a little every day and my digestion/BMs weren't normal so I cut them out after about 4 weeks. I did 1.5 weeks of all meat after that and felt great and digestion was awesome. For the last 3 weeks, I've introduced really cooked veggies (at most maybe 1/4 cup a meal) and fermented foods (veggies, yogurt, and just recently fermented salsas). I made the fermented foods myself and the yogurt was SCD-style so I cooked it for 24 hours to burn off all the lactose. The salsas were tomato and mango/pineapple/papaya. Eating them didn't affect me too much, I just have to watch what I eat them with. With meats I get bloated and feel gross but they seem to work ok with yogurt. I've been doing pretty well and my symptoms over the last 8 weeks have halved in intensity. I did get a body itch about 2 weeks into starting so strictly. I was using coconut oil and Dr. Bronners soap and I found these made it worse. I switched back to regular soap and Neutrogena and things have subsided so I think the coconut oil was making the die-off more intense. My attitude for the most part has been better but over the last 2 weeks I've gotten really negative. Like, why me? Is this all worth it? I feel like a freak because I can't go out to eat with everyone at lunch. My husband can't enjoy desserts in front of me. It seems like no one understands. I'm just so angry right now. In general, I'm following the Body Ecology Diet approach. It seems like the most sensible approach to any problem one would have with their health. I think I have candida. I have all the symptoms and have been sick for a good portion of my life but I've never been tested for it. I live outside of the states so it's hard to find an ND here. How do you keep your attitude up? |
