How is your blood sugar? I ask because chronic and recurring yeast infections are what sent me to a physician in 2000 and led me to a diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes.

This will sound strange but try inserting a pro biotic capsule a few times a day. Messy but it works.

like a vaginal suppository? i've never heard of probiotics in that form. do they sell them at health food stores, etc.?

It wouldn't surprise me if your BG is too high. Are they doing an A1c, also? Please let us know what the results are.

Hey CAgirl! I'm sorry you're struggling with recurrent yeast infections, they are the absolute pits!

In my thread, I mentioned a product I initially thought I was crazy about, a vaginal suppository called Yeast Arrest. While it DID almost instantly relieve my symptoms of itching and burning, when I stopped using them a few days later, they symptoms came right back as did the yeasty discharge. I need to go back and update my thread about that.

I did a TON of reading on natural sites around the internet, and came across boric acid douches and suppositories. I know, acid sounds scary, right? Do a google search for "boric acid" and read several of the sites, there's lots of information about it. For three days I did a boric acid douche am and pm, and inserted a capsule of boric acid inside my vagina after my shower. (I made these myself, very easy.) It's been a week since I finished this protocol, and I am yeast infection free. Boric acid has been shown to be extremely effective for those whose infections simply will not respond to the traditional medications.

I think taking care of your insides is just as important -- if not more -- than taking care of your outsides when it comes to balancing your body to get rid of the ROOT of the yeast overgrowth. Have you looked into natural antifungals? Coconut oil, grapefruit seed extract, garlic, probiotics, etc? And what about the factors that may be influencing your internal imbalance? Birth control pills, antibiotics, sugar/dairy/wheat in the diet, and steroids. These all strongly affect your internal balance and flora.

Good luck, and keep us updated on how you're feeling and what's working!

One more thing, if you're sexually active, you've likely passed your infection on to your partner, who will simply reinfect you when you're intimate. It would be worth a trip to the doctor for him to get a Diflucan prescription to kill any yeast infection he may have on his genitals or in his mouth (which he could very well not even know about) and avoid intimacy for several days while you're both clearing up.

Boy can I empathize!

After taking Biaxin, I got an infection for seven months straight. I honestly was considering some drastic options! But they also diagnosed me with diabetes and since that time, and after a week long course of Flagyl, it's thankfully gone. Diabetes I can deal with - that stuff - never again!

I have a Vag. yeast infection that has been going on for two years solid. I have tried everything over the counter. I took the above suggestion and it is working.

I made a cream with Coconut oil and opened the probiotics and mixed them in. I use this internally and externally and it is working.

Hope it helps.

sorry i haven't updated! i've been so busy with work and the kids, etc., lately. i forgot! well, i'm still miserable. i was eating the probiotic yogurt for awhile, but that didn't do anything. i've heard about the boric acid capsules, so i'm going to give that a try. i'll have to figure out how to make them though. i'll try anything at this point! i just want this gone. i have been been wheat free since March when i was diagnosed with Celiac disease, and since starting my diet 3 weeks ago, i've been sugar free as well. hopefully that will help. thanks everyone!

My friend has this problem and has been very refractory to treatment. Her doc put her on the boric acid treatment. I need to ask how that is going. Good info about having your partner checked also.

The best thing I have found is some white vinegar and 3 % hydrogen peroxide in water. You don't want a chemical burn so just put a tablespoon of each in a couple of cups of water. You can move it up or down from that starting point, but I haven't found anything else that works as well, except filling a small capsule w/powdered nystatin and inserting it. However, Nystatin is fairly expensive and available on a prescription only. I don't know why it requires a script, it doesn't go into the blood stream even from the intestinal tract. It is much safer than Diflucan or boric acid which is actually a poison, or even aspirin.

The viegar/peroxide works great for Bacterial Vaginosis also. They would tell me that I had a mixed infection (yeast and bacteria) when I went in for my checkups at MD Anderson. But, that was before I was tested for allergies or had ever heard of Candida.

Hey binga
Colloidal silver is used orally and externally for a variety of purposes. You can find it at several different vitamin shoppes. My husband makes ours.

It's a tedious process babette but we provide it to a few friends.....
The things I've personally used it for:

toothache
cats abcess (sp?)
wart
ear infection
sore throat
for friends:
candida
MRSA (literally after broad spectrum antibiotics, a grilfriend of mine was getting worse)
UTI (client)
UTI in my dog

It's an amazing product really.....and babette, it's made through electrolosis.....

...so, what I'm hearing is that it will also remove unsightly hair?

Actually I use black tea bags or vinegar for many of those things. Cheaper and easier maybe I'm lazier lol!. I know colloidol silver has amazing properties. I thought I'd give it a shot, but I don't know if the salon will let me use the electrolysis machine...

Your girlfriend became sick with MRSA? That can be a toughie. I work in a pool of some of the most resistant ca mrsa in north america. I've seen it absolutely devastate people.

I started this for my Vag. yeast infection yesterday. The probiotic and coconut oil paste was not working anymore.
I am seeing immediate results. I am taking 5 tbsp. a day and it is working so far. I found it in both of our health food stores. I bought one that is made locally, but there are a few national brands.

Jeanie, congratulations. I'm so pleased!!! That can be such an irritating ailment! Out of curiosity, what did you pay for it?

It is 11.00 for a 5 ounce bottle. Most bottles around here are 2 ounce and they run about 15.00. Tis company sells outside of the area we live in. I can PM you info if you want it.

So you just take it orally? I might have to try this.

yes, orally. I take it daily during different times of stress, illness and right now, a small tooth ache which is now dissapearing.

My husband does a great deal of research on CS and he has a beautiful system making 1 gallon at a time. All of my friends and family have a jar tucked away in their cabinets.....

Fawn,

I am enjoying this thread and acknowledge your expertise in homeopathics. I don't mean to throw a monkey-wrench in, but wasn't there a man in the newspapers who turned blue from taking CS?

Coconut oil is great. Eat a few spoons of it a day, and apply it vaginally every night before you go to bed. I promise you'll notice a great improvement. Garlic is potently anti candida too. Apparently it works if you insert it vaginally (although I've never tried this). Swallow a few whole cloves a day with water. Remove all dairy from your diet (I assume you've already stopped eating starch and sugars). Take olive leaf extract, caprylic acid, and 3lac probiotics (build it up to 3 a day). Relieve the itching by taking warm (not hot) salt baths. This will take a while but it works.

yes, blue man you are referring to. This is a condition called arguyria and it happens from ingesting copious amounts of inferior product. Don't worry about throwing monkey wrenches around with me! Hey, I gladly accept critical thinking challenges and if we don't question things, we don't learn right? I've been using it off and on for a year and my husband manages a fungal problem in his ears with CS. No blue here! he makes it for us.....and it's a nice PPM, parts per million.

Mix 1 tsp of baking soda in a quart of warm water. Set aside about 2 ozs. of this. Douche with it every day for 7 days, and after douching, soak a tampon in the 2 ozs you set aside and insert it, leave it in all day. Yeast cannot live in an alkaline environment. Your body may be acidic from the Low Carb diet, and that is why the yeast love it so much.

Also, take 4 garlic capsules a day, one every 4 hours, just like antibiotics. Garlic is a powerful antifungal, but you have to keep taking it for it to continue to work.

Drink 1 tsp. of baking soda in 8 ozs. of water every night before you go to bed to alkalinize your body. This also clears up kidney infections.

My grandmother taught me these things, and they really work.
